Maskcat Doll waiting thread!

I saw that on her Instagram after ordering! I had been sad that I wouldn’t get a cute trunk, but it’s like the stars aligned perfectly ♡

I’m a tiny bit worried about seam lines on the tan, but it’s so lovely I don’t think I’ll mind either way.

Customer service has been amazing so far, as well. It’s been a great experience already.

 

Still waiting for a shipping notification on Astrid and Pidan. I'm hoping it will be sometime this month.

 

@Koryuu I ordered my Yael during their December event in 2023 (I think it was on the 18th or 19th) and I got her in early May. Account for 4 months as reported on the site, especially since I suspect they get more orders during the Christmas events and there's the long CNY holiday in the middle. The dolls are absolutely worth the wait. Banyo is very nice and will tell you about the state of the order if you ask.

 

It never occurred to me to ask about the status of my order, but based on your timeline I will give it another month before I consider reaching out. Truth be told, though, I honestly don't really mind the wait. I've waited for a lot of dolls - a couple of them for a year or more. I'm just really eager to see Astrid and Pidan in person!

 

@sanctuary - I ordered some tan feet (just to see the color and have them as a comparison for other resins) and they are perfectly smooth, just like the "white" and "normal" dolls and parts. So I wouldn't be surprised if your small doll doesn't have any seam lines, despite being tan!

 

What a great way to get a sample of a different color resin! I'll have to remember that trick the next time I order a doll.

 

I have tan maskcat and they have no seam lines! They are all smooth! And talking about tan maskcats, I went crazy and order a doll in the new 62cm body, in tan also!

 

I ordered December 26 and just got a shipping notice today.

I got a 57cm body, the dress form, and a blue dress.

 

I placed an order on December 27th for two dolls, one with a face-up. I reached out to Maskcat a couple of days ago asking for a status and was told that they have the doll she just needs her face-up. I am hopeful that I will also receive a shipping notice before the end of April.

 

I'm quite surprised. I ordered a tan Lisette a month and 10 days ago, and it is already shipped.

A few days ago I ordered a Claire in White from Denver Doll - I hope she arrives as quickly.

Previously I've only ordered directly from Maskcat, but the shipping was a tiny bit cheaper with Denver Doll and I'd like to see how they do things. Going through a dealer might make it slower, but if so, I can be patient.

How did you order? Through their website or a dealer?

According to the carrier, my Lisette should arrive next Wednesday. So quick!

 

I fully expected to have to wait at least three or four months for them. Compared to some of my other wait times (11 months for a Dollshe Saint when they were still actually shipping dolls, and a year for my Customhouse Yeondu when they had their last blowout sale), this seems pretty reasonable.

 

My Yael took 5 months exactly but I had ordered her during the 2023 December sale so I imagine they had a lot of workload. From what I have heard they're shipping much faster now. I wouldn't be surprised if reecent orders would get fulfilled in 1-2 months.

 

Thank you @Follow-the-Wind! The last time I ordered I think it took 5-6 months, and that was for one of the larger dolls, plus some extras.

 

I yesterday ordered Frances from Alice's Collection since they still offer the 57cm body as main option.
Maskcat dolls are simply gorgeous, Frances will be my first 1/3 sized doll from them, and I can't wait she arrives!

 

an astrid in tan last week; excited excited. difficult to find a serious expression such as hers as sweet-faced sculpts appear more popular. maskcat sculpts have such a somber, gothic atmosphere. display pictures remind me oddly of the castle of otranto.

I got my Lisette!
I asked her on the old 57cm body, in tan, and if i find the body very nice to handle, I must admit I liked better the previous tan (the one of my first lisette, from 2015) which was more brown-pink and less orange. But she is lovely no matter what.

edit: Oh, after manipulating her some minutes, I discovered she couldn't tilt her head to the side. The hook in her head wasn't enough high in the head, and was touching the neck when I tried to put the head on a side. So I added a donuts inside her head and now she can perfectly tilt the head!

 

I received an email from Maskcat with a picture of my Astrid's face-up because I made a specific request when I ordered her. I love her already!

They have also asked for my account number for either DHL, FedEx, or UPS so they can charge me whatever tariffs they need to when they ship her. As I've never had to provide my own carrier information for a doll purchase before, and don't have an account with either DHL, FedEx, or UPS, I've been working on setting one up. I had been wondering how the trade war with China would affect ABJD doll purchases, and now I have my answer.

she is gorgeous - i adore the veil and dress combination. i ordered before the new body was released, but i do prefer the old body. the only qualm i have now that she is here is that maskcat tan resin is far more orange than in the sample photographs, so i will have to dye her a more even tone.

 

Oh you’re brave! I love their tan! They change a few times. The previous one like on my Yael is very light. Is more like a beige than a tan and I love that one! This newer version is much darker. Do you need yours to be darker? I’m curious as to how you do it. I consider doing that on one of my dolls but haven’t got the nerves yet

 

My Claire shipped today! I ordered on April 7 and she'll probably arrive August 7, so that's exactly four months. Not bad at all!

I am really hoping I can use the body with another head I have (they can share it haha). I've wanted her to have a body for literally years. But we'll see!

My Maskcat doll ordered on April 18th through Alice Collection, has been shipped! I ordered Frances in NS with the previous 57cm body + company face-up.
A wait of around 3 months and a couple of weeks, I think that's pretty good
I can't wait she arrives!

 

@Flaxen Hair Girl - Congratulations! I hope she arrives quickly! Even though the new 58cm looks lovely and seems to have a few improvements, I think the 57cm is absolutely wonderful. I hope you will like it! Frances is such a beautiful sculpt, too.

When I ordered Frances, I didn't imagine the new 58cm body would be released so soon. At that time, it seemed like only the 62cm body would be available... and even though it looks beautiful it's a bit too 'huge' for me! I'm happy I could order the 57cm body before it was discountinued. Many collectors told me it's absolutely wonderful and Frances is one of my favorite sculpts from Maskcat doll so, I'm very excited!

 

I just joined DoA, because I am finally joining the BJD-collecting community! My very first one will be an Olivia on the 58cm body. I'm so excited! I ordered her in August through DDE and now I'm just waiting as patiently as I can. I keep looking at her pictures on the Maskcat site and dreaming about all the outfits I want to sew for her when she gets here. (And looking through sites to decide what kind of wigs I might eventually want - but I'm going to wait and see how she looks in person before I make any serious decisions.)

Olivia is intriguing, different. Having many maskcats, at first I wasn't so sure about Olivia, but she has grown on me! I love black bunny sculpts! They are all so different!

 

I just love her eyes and her softly rounded nose tip so much! She's just so incredibly cute. She does look very different from other sculpts I looked at over the years. I think I tend to prefer the more unusual faces; the other maker who I consistently find myself looking at for way too long is Doll Chateau.

A friend of mine (who is not into dolls at all and never has been, even as a little kid) said she looks "creepy," but I couldn't disagree more! I think my friend just thinks all dolls are creepy - too many horror films. Maybe I can convince her that Olivia's adorable once I have her all dressed up in some adorable little sundresses.

 

Olivia is pretty different. So is juni, Astrid, Bruna and Agnes. Also the very new one Cala! Coincidentally, I just saw a new post on flick with Olivia!

I grow up with dolls. I really don’t understand kids who don’t. I feel kind of sad for them. Hopefully you might be the cure for your friend when it comes to Dollie’s and they can see the joy they bring! ☺️

 

I'm so excited! My Maskcat Luise just arrived! I haven't had the chance to unpack her as I've been moving into my new dorm, but I can't wait to get her out and take photos of her!

I forgot to update my post, sorry! Frances arrived in August. The order had been placed through Alice's Collection, and the waiting time was around 4 months. I love her and I can't wait to order another Maskcat girl...maybe for their next anniversary at the end of November?

 

I ordered a Claire in August. I think I prefer the SD dolls, but they are too big for me to handle these days, and I have been thinking about Claire for a while. Now I can't stop expecting a shipping notice any time now. It's almost 4 months, and I did order her blank. Shouldn't that be quicker? I am full of anticipation, which is both good and bad!
