Maskcat 26cm Line Discussion part 1

Jul 13, 2017

    1. @kimlouiseb You will be so glad you got that face up. It was very hard to do the face-up on Joy. The eyelashes and even placing the eyes were difficult and frustrating! I didn't have any choice though because I got Joy here on the MP. She was brand new but the seller had ordered her blank.
I just ordered a Feline and I made sure to get a face-up. :3nodding: Maskcat's face-ups are very nice in my opinion.

    2. @Dollquest well, about that.
Because the weather was delaying things, they offered a refund on the face up and I took it as I was impatient. I may regret that. :-)
I'm going to keep it very simple, but any tips would be great.
Exciting news about Feline - did you order direct from Maskcat?

    3. Thank you @ResinRapture ! Maskcat dolls are a great for Blythe size clothes! :)

    4. I did order straight from Maskcat. You can do the face-up! It will be tiny, but if you keep it simple, it will work out. The dolls are beautiful. They don’t need much!

    5. My Inez arrived today. She was in stock and ordered via the website on September 30th. Posted out on the 18th October and recieved in the UK today.
I was really impressed with FedEx delivery - speedwise and tracking wise.

I love her so much - she is so petite and adorable, I keep picking her up and playing with her. :D
Will share photos once her face up is done.

    6. Has anyone left eyelashes off their dolls if doing their own face up?
And if not, what kind of lashes have you used?
I'm going to attempt Inez's face up tomorrow and know that eyelashes are going to be super fiddly.

    7. For my Joy, I just made a super simplified face up, with no lashes and no individual eyebrow hairs, I just blocked them in with pastels. I do intend to make her a more detailed face up if the day comes when I know who she actually is, but for now the current one is ok. The face is so very tiny and the sculpt is so well defined, that she really doesn't need much.

    8. I did not make individual eyebrow hair lines either. I barely made lower eyelashes. I did add eyelashes. I chose ones for the smallest dolls I had and even then trimmed them a little. I used a wooden tooth pick to help place them as well as one of those magnifying glasses with a light on a stand. It was tedious but it worked. They eyes I used did not have a pin on the back and they were really hard to place. I got a little too much blush on her forehead and it will eventually probably annoy me enough to redo it.

    9. Here's my girl - still not sure of a name yet. But she is going to be a hedge witch.
The plan is to have a whole crew of them - all mature tinies, and hopefully a diorama at some point.
I'm not sure if this wig is staying but I prefer it to the one that came with her. It was $4 from Aliexpress and fits really well.
I'm pretty pleased with her face up but will probably redo it in the future. :)

    10. @kimlouiseb I think she looks very natural and at ease with nature - perfect for a hedge witch. I like her face-up a lot! I especially like the freckles.

    11. @kimlouiseb She turned out very cute.

@Oliveoil Yes, I know, and I am really glad I already have a bunch of Blythe patterns. They're on the blog, in case anyone is interested.

    12. I
love the hedge witch idea, Ive always wanted to do something like that but finding the right clothes/wig for it is tough

      love the tan skin

    14. @Bess The tan skin is SO pretty! I highly recommend Maskcat's tan to anyone who likes tan resin. ♥

    15. I love my Inez so much I have ordered Feline for Christmas (thanks to my husband).
She was in stock on the website - so dangerous.

    16. Are the seam lines noticeable? That’s the only thing stopping me right now

    17. I do not see any seam lines on my tan doll. Their tan really is beautiful!

    18. O
ooh yes my next doll might be a tan Inez then I ordered a normal skin Joy

    19. I recently ordered a normal skinned Feline. I have a tan Joy and just love her! You will love Joy!

    20. On my tan Joy you have to really look for them to the see the lines.
As is very common with tan dolls, they never guarantee that the lines will be super well finshed. My doll even came with a small folder with pictures of what sort of casting lines are considered normal, but the actual doll I got is way better finished than the doll in the pictures.
So, to sum it up; it's good to be prepared that there may be visible casting lines, but it's likely that they will be very nicely finished. If you just can't deal with the possibility of visible lines then perhaps go for a white or normal colour instead.

I just finished my little Maskcat (Klara). Her name is Perdita. If you want to know why she has the net or see more pictures: Perdita

    22. @ResinRapture I just read her story! I love it! She is beautiful as well.

    23. @Dollquest Thank you! I wish I could have taken more pictures of her in other dresses I made, but it was getting dark already.

    24. Perdita is beautiful! I love her story! She needs to pay me a visit. :)

    25. @Oliveoil Thank you :). You have a Klara too, haven't you?

    26. Yes I do. She has company face up. Klara is my favorite.

    31. Very much looking for more photos of her ^.^ Such a pretty mold. Did she come with that wig?

    32. There is a tan Feline in stock that I am 2 seconds away from ordering. I will add faceup which will add a few weeks, I hope she comes with a wig that I like. The smaller the wig size I feel the bulkier the wigs look. All the wigs I have are going to be too big unless I can maneuver them in a way to make one work.
I have had these dolls on my radar for a while, I hope I love her in person <3

    33. I'm sure you will like her. I have a Joy in tan and she is gorgeous. The body is surprisingly well enginered for such a small doll.

      • x 1
    34. I hope so <3 I have a Myou Vieruodis and Atelier Momoni Pitusas as well as a Tender Creation Young doll. They all pose very well, the Myou isn't as fluid, but she still has great range of motion and poses. I am hoping this one will be similar. I love that she can wear a lot of Blythe stuff and from what I see Barbie shoes! Having dolls that are easy to find things for them to wear is also a huge selling point for me!

    35. The wig I got with my girl was so pretty and soft I didn't bother to get her another one! So fingers crossed for you that you get one you like, too. I have the older body, but I second how nice the engineering is! She obviously can't slouch because of the one-piece torso, but otherwise I think her posing is wonderful. And the tan is lovely, too! (I ALSO have a Feline in tan, haha.) They're absolutely easy to dress--Blythe things can come up a little short, but otherwise tend to fit quite well. I put my girl in a lot of Barbie clothes (including shoes made for the flat feet dolls) and they fit wonderfully.

    36. @jenlovesdolls You will love her! I have Joy, Feline and Inez now. Joy is in tan. They pose really well! If you go to my instagram account - dolls2dream and scan down through my photos (They start with July 22nd of last year.), you will see when I first got my tan Joy. I posed her in a lot of different ways! It is very fun changing the girl's positions and redressing them in all the outfits they can wear from Blythe! And yes, they can wear many of the Barbie shoes!

Oh and when I ordered Inez in stock, I had them put a face-up on her and she came almost right away!
A picture of my girls! Inez is wearing a Barbie Top and shorts I made. Feline is wearing an outfit from Etsy designed to fit Blythe and Barbie shoes,. Joy is wearing a complete outfit from Etsy and shoes - all designed to fit Blythe. they are all wearing the wigs from Mascat, although I think I will make one for Inez only because she has the same one as Joy's and the eyes from the first 2 are from Maskcat and are the same, but they are very nice, so they might stay!

    37. Most of the wigs I have seen they come with looked nice, at least I think those are the wigs they come with. Fingers crossed!

I love your girls, and I do feel they have a lot of options for clothes which is amazing <3 I like the wigs all your girls have too. I hope mine comes with a brown one like yours, as I am more partial to darker hair than lighter hair (unless it is pastel fantasy colored haha)

    38. The brown wig looks great on the tan skin especially!

    44. Just as a heads up, they've released a new 1/6 doll, Luise and two new 26cm bodies with mobility thighs.

    45. Luise is SO cute!! I wasn't planning on getting any more Maskcat girls, but... Look at her! And the new bodies, too... I wonder if the smaller one would fit Pure Neemo clothes better?

    46. I am really liking the look of Luise. I wasn't planning on another Maskcat girl, but her face is so adorably grumpy (to me). And I am interested in the new bodies, the mobility thighs look cool.

ETA: Oh! Looks like they're having an event this month too!

    47. @werepuppy I have set a rule against anything smaller than 1/3 (I'm saving for a Lisette), and thankfully I had just ordered the shoes and dressform or I would have probably bought her on impulse. She's such a nice sculpt, reminds me of Fleur a bit.

    48. @lutke Honestly, I am having that issue myself. 1/6 is my preferred scale as well, so it's even more tempting. She could be a good friend to my little emo girl Della...

    49. I just ordered Louise from DDE. I wasn’t going to order her but then found out DDE just started carrying Maskcatdoll! I didn’t get the discounts or the promised gift of course but it was just way too easy!

    50. Does anyone have any insight on the 26S and 26L bodies? I can't tell which would be better to order and if they'd both fit Blythe clothing like the old body. I assume the 26L is for the bigger bobble heads like Gladys?

    51. @QuietYurei No idea about sizing but you can choose either body even for the bigger headed ones like Gladys IIRC. The S body is closer to the old body. Try to ask Maskcat directly! They answer pretty quickly on their website's chat window.

    52. What’s the Birthday Event for Maskcat’s 1/6? Like what exactly does it entail, I’m not sure if I just missed it, but I can’t find info on the website or insta

    53. It's in the news section. 15% off 1/6 dolls in June a free bag. When you add the doll to your cart, you will see the discounted price.

    54. Actually they show the 26L body on the new Louise sculpt and she is not the “bobble head” type. The 26S is more like the last body, size-wise. That body definitely fits Blythe clothes. I did purchase the 26L body with my Louise though for variety. I do have 1 outfit that was made for a body that apparently is used for Blythe dolls a lot but is a little bigger and I figured she’d fit in that.

    55. Thank you !! :3nodding:

    56. You are welcome!

    57. There are some comparison pictures where they show all 3 bodies (the 2 new ones and the version 2) side by side! The 26S is a little smaller (and ergo a much safer bet for Blythe clothes) and the 26L is a little bigger. I found the first version of the 26 body (with the single piece torso) to be SLIGHTLY big for some particularly fitted Blythe clothes, for what it's worth. (And she's a little bit taller, too.) If you want to buy Blythe clothes, I'd go with the 26S personally.

    58. My Maskcat Luise in tan on the 26L body arrived reccetly. Here she is wearing Barbie Dream Bestie clothes while she waits for her new dress and wig to arrive.
