Tutorial Making Tiny Wigs

Nov 5, 2017

    1. Hi all! Today I'm sharing the method I use to make tiny wigs for dolls with tiny heads (4"-5" or smaller!).
The video is of my Azone Obitsu hybrid but I also use this for tiny dolls like Peakswood Monthly Fairy or my Chicline, pictured here~!

    2. Awesome! I have a doll with a head circumference of 2", and my last wig attempt was going OK... until I got to the parting. I'll have to try this method!

    3. Thank you! Guess, I've been looking for a tutorial for small wigs and here it is! Very helpful :thumbup

    4. That's a great tutorial. Thank you!
I love how soft and natural the wig looks. :D

    5. Wow, it looks so easy now...i really have to try this method, thank you..

    7. what a useful tutorial!))) thanks a lot!

    8. @Kittzel Ahh I hate that feeling, not knowing where to go. Please show me if you end up finishing!!

@heliocoelin alpaca is definitely the softest material for wigs :love this came from a local farm so it was also super cheap!

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback <3 I hope the video was helpful!!

    9. I went looking for alpaca tops at one of the local fiberarts-y shops and didn't see any but I did find ramie tops... so we'll see if that works as well.

    10. @Kittzel I use this technique on viscose as well as alpaca and lamb fibre, so ramie should work as well!

    11. You make it look so easy so Im going to have a try when I get my doll...The hole actually works really well. Thanks.:)

    12. Great tutorial!! Thanks for sharing. I was curious, are you using the fabric glue straight out of the bottle or thinning it at all at any point?

    13. @sapphire7 The hole is definitely worth the extra effort it takes!

@TenguCrow This particular fabric glue I'm using straight outta the bottle :) I've also used Aleene's Fabric Fusion which has a more jelly-like consistency straight out of the bottle.
I'm not entirely sure HOW one would thin fabric glue, like if adding water would ruin the formula, so I've actually never considered trying D: If you do, please let me know how it goes!

    14. This is so helpful! I'll be getting my first doll, 1/8 size, (finally!) & will be doing everything myself.

    15. Awesome! Thank you so much! :)

    16. look forward subscribed to youtube thank u for sharing:love

    17. The part-hole technique works great! Really helps keep down the poofiness at this scale compared to the usual "glue the weft at the center and fold it back on itself" method. Here's my result:

    18. Goodness that seems so small but it looks so nice on the top & not poofy or bunchy..when you are styling a wig how do you keep it still as you are brushing etc?:):thumbup

    19. If it's just a little bit of nudging a stray wisp into place, I usually kind of... pinch the doll's head, lol. Meaning I have my thumb under her chin and one or more fingers on top of the wig to keep it from sliding around while I use a comb or pin or something to move the hair. This particular tiny doll has a really weird-shaped (and obviously super tiny) head that makes it hard for wigs to stay on, so I just pop the wig off if for more thorough styling--it's so lightweight at this size that it's easier to style off the doll. The pinching trick works fine for my 1/4 and 1/3 size dolls for regular brushing, too, but they all have silicon rings/caps to help keep their wigs more secure anyway.

    20. @Kittzel Damn~!! Your part is neater than mine!!! :DD I'm so glad you were able to make such a TINY wig!
The styling is so cool as well!! The little whisps give it so much character :D:D:abow:
You are now the Master of tiny wig parts. I bow to your skill.

    21. :chibi I'm flattered! What I did was cut a very very small slit in the top, less than 1cm, so the fiber totally filled in the gap and then I spread it out almost like a circular part.

    22. @Kittzel It turned out great :D Definitely a good way to do parts like that, you made me wanna go make a wig like that hehe

    23. Thank you, that was very helpful :3nodding:

    24. This is great to know! Thank you for posting!

    25. Thank you so much! All of my Azone wigs always turn out so janky.

    26. Great tutorial and excellent idea when you cut the cap, it really makes the top of the wig less puffy. Thank you so much for this video!

    27. Thank you for this idea. I was looking for a better way than the flip over method for my Momonita At the moment her head looks like an egg :wiggle. I will try this!

    28. Wow, thanks so much for the tips! I started a wig for my Momonita but never finished as I didntdwant to mess up the part, but this makes it seem so simple!
