6. How amazing work you've done: she's so alive now! Wow! Can't stop thinking of how many hours you must have passed on doing this cute thing...

7. She's so amazing! I love her! :whee:

8. Wow I'm in awe of the finished faye

9. Aww she's so adorable! ^_^ I love the way she came out. Can't wait to see her completely finished. Well, finished as in eyes, hair, wig, and clothes. She's awesome though! Good job~!

10. Thank you:) Ah, it feels so good to read all this.. I posted some pics of Fay on the art section of another forum I go to and all I got was the stereotypical "That's creepy as hell, man!" "It's like a creepy alien" and "It looks possessed!" crap :vein Blarh.
My birthday is January 15, I'm gonna try and have her completely finished by then.

11. You're going to be the sweetest owner for any self-created doll. <3 Fay is going to be more than well-loved, I know it. By the way she's looking and by the way you talk and take pride in her, other dolls will turn their heads in envy for such adoration. Keep it up, I can't wait to see Fay get finished!

12. Your doll is so adorable!
I want to see lots and lots more pictures. ^^

15. Fay is really Cute! You did a good job sculpting her.

16. I can' wait to see her all the way finished. Shes looking great so far!

17. She's so pretty, looks like a baby fairy ^,^

I have a question for you, can you explain how you did the headcap? It looks really hard to do, but it looks like it's working really well.

18. wow she has the cutest face and i love her feet! i wish i was artistic...

19. NataNeko: Well, basically, after hollowing out the head (I didn't use the sculpt-around-a-ball-of-tinfoil method for the head, but this should work anyway) I just cut a strip of Sculpey from around the hollow in the head and attached it to the headcap. Then, alongside the previous cut I cut out some squares on the head where I wanted the headcap to lock in and stuck those to the headcap as well, in the corresponding places. After baking and sanding quite a lot, it fit rather well. I made little holes in the head in the left and right square space to stick magnets in, but I still need to get the magnets out of their decorative casing before I can use them. Hope that helps, I didn't take any pictures while I was making the headcap so I can't actually show you.

20. She looks wonderful! I'm subscribing to this thread to see more of your work on her!

21. Amazing sculpt. what a cutie. I am new to this where did you learn to string and cut ball joints. I've been trying to research how to make BJD's and can't find hardly any information. Do you keep the doll as polymer sculpt or will you make a mold and make it another medium?? Great job ^_^!!

22. Fairyqueen: I learned everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about BJDs from DoA and from looking at loads and loads of pictures of (nude) dolls. Just search for "stringing tutorial", "joints" etc. Somewhere in the BJD Encyclopedia forum there's a thread I made asking for pics of joints and another one someone started with pics of headcaps. Also, at the very top of this here Artists forum there's a thread with links to tutorials and such on dollmaking. Good luck!

As for your other question, I'm going to be casting Fay in resin, hopefully soon:)

23. So... adorable... *implodes*

Really great work! I'm astounded by the amount of talent on this board. Please let us see pictures once the resin version is made!

24. FairyQueen - > Check out BJD_WTF...link in my sig. There is a whole chapter in there about making your own BJD. New info daily. :)

25. My reply isn't very original, but sincere...So cute! :D
I bought some Super Sculpey, several weeks ago, but I still haven't used it...in your hands, that modelling paste seems so easy to manipulate! :o Carry on, I want to see more, pleaase! ^^ Hope you'll have it completed for your birthday, what a nice present it will be!^^

26. Waw that's an amazing work you've done on her !
I can wait to see more! <3

27. Update:

OK, swo I still haven't gotten around to molding. I NEED YOUR HELP HERE :eusa_pray I've decided that I won't take the risk of trying to get a decent skin color with the red and yellow pigment I have, but my Smooth-On dealer doesn't have skin color. They do have silicon colorant, but I don't think that would work. So my question is: does anyone know where I can get Smooth-On So-Strong color pigments (or other resin colorant) in skincolor? Or does someone happen to have a bottle lying around (for which of course you'd get paid)? Me and Fay would be forever grateful.

28. Never mind, figured it out myself. Thanks for the help, people

29. She's so cute with her big eyes! She has so much personality and I can't wait to see her in her wig!

30. If you are going to cast her, then the broken ears won't be a problem. If you gluet hem back on, and make sure that the seam in the break is sanded smooth you shouldn't be able to tell in the casted piece :) :D

31. Aren't you from the netherlands?

32. Yup, I am. I'm also on the Dutch forum if you want to talk to me:)

Lil' update: I'm finally in the process of putting on the spray putty. First I tried spray-on gesso, but it cracked and flaked. Spray putty is much better. I'll need to sand some more, saw plywood planks for mold boxes and then the molding can begin! Finally.

Last shot of her face, tomorrow I'll be putting the putty on:

33. The spray-on gesso flaked? >_> Good thing I found out now, I was gunna buy some on the weekend. What brand is that putty spray? I can never seem to find stuff like that.(I'll stick to modeling paste if I can't find any now)

Looking good^^ Can't wait to see her finished and put together...

34. OMG! So cute!!!
she's huge :o

ahhh shes so amazing x_x
adorable feet!!

35. Yukamina: It's Motip Spray Putty. It's a Dutch brand so I'm not sure if you can get it. Website: www.motip.nl Look under "plamuur".

Licorice (interesting name BTW): nah, it's just her head that's huge (and my hands are small) ;) She's only 26 cm/"10" .

36. I'm curious, what materials will you use to make the mould? This is looking wonderful. I'm okay with the making process, but the casting is what scares me X_X

37. I really want to make my own doll and Im very curious to see how your casting goes. Hoping for new posts soon!

38. Healdria: I'm using MoldMax 10 silicone rubber from Smooth-On for molds and SmoothCast 230 resin for the doll, also from Smooth-On. I think I've found a way to make hollow casts with two-part molds, but I'm gonna have to test that first. I have to admit, I'm a bit scared too :blush , even of puttying her face. I really hope I won't mess it up...

39. I hope you can take step by step pictures of your process for the rubber mold making ! very cute little one love the hands and feet.

40. Ah, i'm sure you'll be fine*giggles* this is so exciting:D Good luck with it and thanks for the info:)

41. are you planning on selling any of her?

42. Yess! So close!!!!!! you know an easier way to make mold boxes is Lego, if you check out the casting page of my website you can see them, and a few other things to make life easier, like how to cast pieces that don't need to be drilled.

I've been watching Fay grow up and I'm, so excited to see the finished doll!!!!!!!!!

43. X_Kazakai_X: no, probably not. Maybe when I get more money and casting experience.

lolipop: I thought about Legos, but my brother would probably kill me if I plundered his lego stash^^;;

44. Wow, I just saw this thread and I have to say that I'm MORE than impressed :D :D :D She's absolutely BEAUTIFUL! She's got so much personality already!

45. No kidding!
I can't get over how cuuuute she is!!! More More!!

46. I would buy one id make her in to a him

47. *sigh* she is just too gorgeous, I can't wait to see the finished product! :D

48. aww yes she woudl be a cute boy XD either way shes not gonna sell her so ^^'''

49. Absolutely lovely! I can't wait to see her finished!

50. Not much news, still sanding and puttying (NEVER underestimate the application of a simple and SMOOTH layer of spray paint), but I just wanted to show you this pic. Fay and I participated in the Valentine swap in the Dutch BJD forum, and Fay wanted to show off her present personally. This has got to be one of the weirdest photos I've ever made, but I love it, if only because it's the first shot of her after baking with her eyes in. And she's CUTE :aheartbea Excuse her slightly crooked gaze, this was a REAL quicky, her eyes weren't exactly fastened tight. And yeah, for as long as she isn't strung, her sculpey boxes are her home base so to speak, so...

51. CuuTE! I've been keeping my eye on this thread, though I think I've only lurked xD

1 - I must let you know that i LOVE her face. The nose, lips, and eyes are spectacular.

2 - How many layers of putty have you sprayed now? Do you sand everything if it's not smooth, or do you keep the old putty spray on and fix the rough parts, then spray everything again?

52. I'm halfway through the second layer now (hands and arms still need another layer) and sanding everything down again because the putty keeps getting sprayed on too thick or with teenytiny airbubbles>_< I basically spray, sand, spray again, sand again etc, until the bumps and creases and scratches are gone. And since every layer has to dry for at least an hour and I don't have the room to have all the parts dry at the same time, it's taking forever :sigh

53. aaaaaaaaaaahhh i want one she is cute (and i do not go for tiniys!)

54. She gets cuter every time we see her! I... adore... this... face. !!!!!

55. Oh my goodness! such talent! Can't wait to see more :)

56. soo cuuute! (As if you haven't heard already -.-')
Do you have any other designs for the same species, but a different character? (since the character and species were designed by you)
If so, it would be cool if you made more, and used differnt eyes, wigs, faceups, etc.

57. I have one more in the planning, yes:)

58. That's just awesome :) I can't wait to see this one finished.. and another one too!!

59. I think I'm done sanding. FINALLY. I suppose I can smooth out some details after casting. So now I'm gonna measure up the size of the plywood planks I need, and start molding! Oh yeah, I received a pair of Cutie Delf shoes for Fay today, and they're NOT WIDE ENOUGH>_< . Might as well nickname her Little Bigfoot. *goes to check out lati green shoes*

60. I hope to see her finished soon¡¡¡ She looks so cute, and very different and personal. Have luck with the casting¡¡
