Luts Senior Delf Discussion Part IV

Apr 26, 2016

    1. I don't have bronze but here is my terracotta girl! She arrived yesterday, and I love her so much :D

    2. OMG she is my wish girl and beautiful!!!
      Wellcome to world~~

    3. I got my very first Luts doll yesterday - she’s a Senior Delf Muse Bory (real skin brown). Her name is Elena and I’m so excited about her!

    4. She’s so beautiful! I’ve always loved this particular sculpt, and seeing it presented as female is really amazing. Your muse is gorgeous!

    5. Thank you so much! This was my first time trying a male presenting sculpt as female presenting (inspired by the concept of the muse body which I really like btw!) and I’m so happy with how she’s turned out. :)

    6. Hello! I just got my my choice Muse/Dian hybrid yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on what clothing sizes fit the muse body best. It seems to be between the standard Volks sizes.

    7. I've had some luck with some POPO68 sized pieces, but they're often a bit too big/baggy in the waist. Curious about this as well.

    8. So far, it seems like maybe SD17 pants and SD16/SD13/SDGR everything else? SD13 pants are definitely too short, and SD17 tops are too big based on the limited options I have on hand. I don’t have infinite money to throw at this but I also have a very naked doll to dress.

    9. The senior delf muse remi is so dang pretty.I don't need another kiddo right now. I'm so tempted. :...(:...(

      • x 6
    10. Thank god I’m not into the muse body, or I’d definitely get a Remi… If they release Remi on a girl body in the future, it’ll be dangerous… :nosebleed

    11. I absolutely love the Remi sculpt but I really don't need a new doll right now :sweat Their face-up is gorgeous too though, and I'm really tempted...

      • x 1
    12. I love Remi too, but won't be getting them right now. I really hope to see a bunch of owner's photos next year!! :chibi

@dolleigh your Elena is looking soooo amazing. the way that you styled her really brings out the beauty in her make up. :love Did you request changes to it? It looks somehow enhanced and so flattering.

      • x 1
    13. Thank you so much! So no actually, I didn’t request any changes to her makeup, but I did purchase her wig through Luts at the same time, so I’m not sure if maybe that influenced the makeup leaning a bit more soft/romantic than the stock photos? She actually has some glitter highlight on the top of her cheekbones and I was kind of surprised in person how much pinker around her eyes ended up being but I really like it for her character. The photo I posted was also color treated in photoshop so that may be a part of it as well, though I didn’t do anything in particular to edit her face/makeup.

Also I’m very much fighting the urge to order a Remi as well! What a pretty sculpt!!!

    14. Does anyone know what skin colour this girl is? lutsdoll co.,ltd.

Is it 'white' or 'normal'? I saw the photo comparisons of the colours on the site on blank spheres, but like a goof, I can't tell when it comes to these photos lol. Also, does anyone know any resources for the body types and/or have a recommendation? I know DoA has measurements up to Type 7, but I'd love to see comparison photos too. Thank you!

    15. It looks like Normal. Luts White is paper-white.

      • x 1
    16. Snow / Zuzu White is the paper white option. Honestly it is hard to tell sometimes with Luts whether they are using White or Normal skin. The resin colors are paler in person than the headcap samples most of the time. Just looking at her I thought normal, but comparing her to the head caps makes me wonder if she is white skin. Might want to check with Luts if you are dead set on getting the same color as the photos.

    17. Thanks so much for your advice and investigation skills, Niel and Tonboko! I'm not really interested in 'paper white' but I thought the doll photo looked alright. If luts is known to answer questions like that, then I might reach out to them, yeah. I'm a little relieved I'm not the only one having a time trying to figure it out though, haha.

also if anyone knows any answers to my other questions, that'd be helpful too!

"Does anyone know any resources for the body types and/or have a recommendation? I know DoA has measurements up to Type 7, but I'd love to see comparison photos too. Thank you!"

    18. I mean yes, but their White is also super white. If you look at the photos of their dolls in white clothes, their Normal skin looks beige/yellowish compared to the white of the clothes, but on their White skin dolls, their skin looks as white as the clothes. Here is a good example of a White skin doll in white clothes. Now look at Irene's legs especially, they're very beige compared to the white skirt of her dress. That's why I think she's in Normal skin on her promos ^^

But I do agree, it's best to ask Luts directly.

P.S.: Thank god Luts actually state what colour the dolls on their promos are nowadays. It's so hard to figure out sometimes :sweat

Miriam my SDF Jean got her wig the other day, i need to do her another faceup - it was my first time properly color matching and there was alot of texture :sweat

Also yeah, RSW is still very paper white in person - both my Jean and my Dan are super pale compared to my RSN Flora.

    21. Hello, Luts Senior Delf owners! I have one Senior Delf Type 5 female body, and it is my first. I plead for knowledge of the group.

In transferring her (Iplehouse Luna head/hybrid) from one room to another, the body did something that has never happened to me before: it just... fell apart. One leg fell off and landed on the floor (she has heel legs).
      Luna, in pieces

I looked at the body to try to figure out what was going on, and, well, have a peek in the spoiler and please let me know if this is standard on these dolls, or a mod:

It's definitely a hex nut, and that might be milliput or Apoxie Sculpt? So I think it may be a mod.
This isn't standard on Luts bodies, right?

    22. @MaleficentMrsofEvil
Not standard at all! Typically the newer style of Luts bodies have a "bar" in between the legs that each individual leg elastic loops onto. You can see a pic of the bar on this blog post. The leg elastic doesn't go up to the neck on them. Yours looks like the bar either fell out or was removed on purpose by a prior owner. I don't believe the bar is cast in place, but I believe Luts glues it in. I once had one of the bars fall out of one of my bodies so had to glued it back in place. Mine fell out as one full piece though, not broken. Looks like someone tried to put the leg elastic though the hole where that bar once was and possibly used a hex nut as a place to knot the elastic to make it stay? The putty (almost looks like hot glue in the pics) seems to have filled in the remainder of the hole. As to why they did this, no idea. I assume the bar was accidentally broke off so could not be used. So prior owner may have come up with this as a solution.

Edit: Also the long hook is for the knee of the lower leg. I have a couple type 5 bodies and can get you specific pics of anything if ya need.

      • x 4
    23. Bless you, @Cap'n - that was very helpful!
      I have one more question:
      What keeps the head on?
If the legs have a peg, and the arms have each other... Where head elastic go?

I would very much prefer to disassemble her and avoid another Fairyland moment (released neck elastic - arms shot off in 2 different directions, lol).

      • x 2
    24. OK, I went on a deep-dive on Luts' website.
So the type 5 body is the "multi-part body"? And you need... 4 strings of elastic?
If I'm looking at the pictures and reading the instructions correctly, one string of elastic goes from hip knob, through the chest, up the neck, and back down to the other hip knob.
      Elastic 2 attaches the arms.
Elastic 3 and 4 are for each leg.

If I'm right, I have one more (probably really dumb) question: has anyone ever removed the hip knobs and just strung the doll in the traditional manner? One long piece of elastic from head to legs?

    25. Of that page, pics 1-2 show how the neck elastic attaches if 1 piece torso, pics 5-7 show how the neck elastic attaches if 2 piece torso. A short piece of elastic is looped around a piece in the lower torso. Either at the very bottom (for 1 piece torso) or at the top of the lower torso below the joint (for 2 piece torso). Both ends go up through the neck to hook onto the S hook.
There's 4 pieces of elastic total:
      1 piece for arms
2 pieces for leg (1 each)
      1 piece for torso-neck

You actually can string them in the traditional manner! Sometimes without needing to remove the peg depending on which body. (Some work better than others around the peg.) But they're not as sturdy and will most likely require additional sueding/hot gluing. The legs are more likely to go kinda wonky (out of place) too. You also have to be very careful if you break out the peg because they might be glued in with resin. I've broke out the inner chest piece (where the elastic loops around the 2 part torso types) for one of my bodies and a piece of the top of the torso itself broke off with it. It was very glued in there. :sigh

    26. I’ve actually done this! My type 5 female had a factory defect which I didn’t discover during the first 6 months after her arrival…until her leg suddenly fell off one day while I was just moving her from place to place.:horror: A close inspection showed that the peg was seriously defective and they had gone ahead and used it anyway (and just glued the pieces of it in at an odd angle.) Since I’d ordered her in lavender skin and I’d had her for so long, I didn’t even bother notifying the company and instead removed the post entirely and strung her normally. It was all I could think of doing at the time, but it worked…no problem, and I still thoroughly adore her to this day.:)

    27. @PoeticSoul Seems like I'm not the only one who had a factory defect that you had to break out. My story in the post above yours was in regards to a factory defect as well. It caused her torso to not stand straight since that piece was glued in askew. Mine was on the Delf type 5 girl body.

    30. I am tempted by the ssd Diez head. Does someone know if they resculpted it for the ssd body or if it's the same as previous released 1/3 size of him?
It will probably look good on a 65/68cm body too? I think the ssd is far too big for me

      • x 1
    31. The SSD Diez looks like it has more realistic facial proportions than the existing SD65 Diez sculpt, which has a larger mouth and larger eyes.
Luts gives the head circumference for the new head as 8.7 inches, which is the same as SD65 Diez Romance, so it probably won't look weird on an SD65 or 68cm body. Luts offers SSDF heads on SDF bodies in their MyChoice section, so you're probably fine (they wouldn't let you do it if it wasn't mechanically compatible.)

    35. Hi, would anyone be able to help me out, with a question please? I'm adopting a Diez. What would be the best size/iris eyes that works best for him?

      • x 1
    36. Hello, may somebody know that Luts Real Skin Brown could be matched to Volks Sunlight(or Tan) Skin?
Since I hope to find a body match with my DSD head. Thank you so much!!!

    37. The Luts website typically lists which eye size is best for a sculpt on that sculpt’s page. Just go to the page for your specific Diez variant.
Iris size is a matter of personal preference, but the prevailing trend is for a narrow iris. :)

    38. I had seen most are 14mm on the site, when I was looking. But still wanted to see what some peoples preference were. I'm stuck between if 14/6 or 14/7 would be better for him?
Thank you for the reply :)

    39. I asked Luts if they would consider making a Muse version of the Dion head, and they said they would forward the comment to the relating department. I really just want like a 8-9 sized version instead of the 9-10 one... I know there are similar sculpts now that I cooouuuuld just swap him with instead but idk, I just feel so sentimental about that sculpt. I've been very cautious about my dolly spending, I hope it can be released in the maybe near future :eusa_pray

    41. Hello all!
I am joining the senior Delf brigade and just ordered a Senior Delf Loid!

It’ll be a while before he gets here, but I wanted to have his wig custom made. Are there any Loid owners who could help me out with some specific head measurements?

      1. circumference/girth of the head
      2. The length from the forehead to the back of the neck
      3. Length from ear to ear, over the head

Thank you all in advance again!

    45. I recently got my first Luts head! It's the Senior Delf one from the 2017 Summer Event. I'm looking forward to finding him a nice body and doing his faceup.

    47. I have a quick couple of questions.

I have a Luts Senior Delf Juniper on layaway with BJDivas. She will be coming with the Type 8 body. Since her body is 63.5cm, is she still considered a Senior Delf or is she a SDF? Are they the same thing? Honestly, I"m not even sure if this is the correct Discussion thread. :?

Also, what size head will she have? I looked on the site, and I don't see what her wig size will be.

      Ryu

      • x 2
    48. Juniper is a Senior Delf. The SDF acronym is Senior DelF and some distinction is made for SDF65 or Muse, but it's all in the same scale category. My boy is a Senior DelF Slim 65 Type 3 but I'm not going to type that out every time. SDF65 will suffice!
Since Juniper is shown in an in house brand LDW wig and LDW wigs all seem to say they are 8-9in I think it's safe to say that Juniper wears 8-9. CP was the one that kind of set that size as a standard back in the early days.

      • x 4
    49. Let me say this back to you so I understand.

"So even though she is 63.5cm, Ariel, my incoming Juniper is still an SDF/Senior Delf?"
      Did I get that correct?

Ariel and Prince Eric, (a Luts 2024 SUMMER EVENT SSDF~SDF gift head) are both SDFs?

These two are my first Luts-only BJDs, and their sizing system is confusing to me. *_*

I ordered the same red wig that the Juniper on the site wears, so I should be okay there. Most of my Luts/CPs wear 9-10 wigs, so Prince Eric and Ariel will seem like pinheads in comparison to me!

      Ryu

      • x 2
    50. Yes, SDF is a broad category. They started with Delf (55-60cm) as a size of doll analogous to Volks Super Dollfie. Then they added a more mature, slightly taller doll type and called it Senior Delf. There have been many different body types in this category as sculpting trends evolved, but they are all SDF. When 70cm dolls became a trend after Dollshe popularized them, Super Senior Delf was added. Basically, Luts doesn't want to abandon the original Delf branding since they fought hard to keep the naming rights so everything is some type of Delf and the prefix denotes the general size category. There are often versions of a single head sculpt retooled to fit the different scales of body.

      • x 4
    51. Ah, I remember the "Delf wars(TM)" back in the day! I'm glad that got sorted. I still find Delf/Cerberus Project-style dolls the most appealing.

I still seem to buy mostly "Delf" dolls, whether they are made by Fairyland or the older original Luts/Cerberus Project dolls, so its interesting to me to finally be able to get a Luts Delf that I fell so hard for. I've been eyeing Juniper ever since she came out, so I'm thrilled to finally be able to get her! And getting her during an event so that I can also get Prince Eric's head for free was a real bonus!

Sorry, I'm gushing here, but my first thought when I first saw her was "OMG, she would make such an excellent Ariel/Little Mermaid!" So she's going to be a rather tall mermaid.

Thank you so much for answering my questions and helping me understand Luts' sizing, @St. James. And yes, I remember when you were a Mod. I hope your "retirement" is going well! :thumbup

    52. @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 You're welcome! It's become somewhat comical the way Luts keeps super-sizing the same dolls, but it does help the people who always wish for a specific doll but in the size they already collect.
I LOVE retirement! ;) If only I could afford to do so IRL.

    54. Hi @Nezumi_Mouse, LTNS!

I have to admit, between medical issues, family issues and Life, I haven't been as active on DOA as I used to be. I am still in the BJD hobby, of course, but lately I admit I've been somewhat focusing on my Volks Dollfie Dream Hatsune Miku vinyl doll. Most of My Crew (TM:lol:) have wardrobes and shoes, so they're okay, but finding both official Miku outfits as well as cute clothes is a real challenge. Vinyl stains really easily, so I have to consider that, even when she's wearing her protective bodysuit. Ugh.

Oh, I plan on showing Ariel and Prince Eric here once I bring them home. I'm basing Ariel mostly on the live-action version, so she's going to be cast in Real Skin Tan. I'm looking forwards to braiding small shells into her hair and wrapping some of it like her l-a version. I also want to find a dress for her remnicent of the one from the movie too, as well as figure out how to sew her a sequin mermaid tail. Sternauge, one of my Luts/CP Delf is a merman, so his tail is actually going to be a practice version of what Ariel's will be like. I'm just debating on how I want to make the flukes. I'm leaning towards some kind of light, flowing material. I just need to find some I like in his color, sit down and finish hand-sewing his fishy half.

Anyways, I guess I'm here in this thread for the long haul. Unfortunately, they won't be arriving from BJDivas until next summer. Its okay, it gives me a long time to figure out and then finish Sternauge's tail.

      Ryu

    55. Welp, Luts is discontinuing their only remaining Senior Delf male body it seems. With no replacement announced as of yet. No mention of discontinuing the male Senior Delf head sculpts at least, so I do assume they're working on something to replace that body. Only time will tell.

Not gonna lie, if they make a durito man shaped Senior Delf male body, I'm gonna laugh so hard.

      • x 10
    56. I honestly doubt they plan to do any new male bodies in that size range. Not even Dorito man. Unfortunately that size is really unpopular nowadays. They might keep the heads for now in case someone wants to get one on a SSDF body through mychoice.

So now I need to decide quickly if I want another SDF body or not. Since mine toppled over (just folded himself in half) and completely ruined his nose in the process I don't really trust mine to stand anymore. (But maybe that's a me-issue.) I really do like this body's proportions though.

      • x 4
    57. I'm feeling the pressure to get a SDF body now. I've already gotten 2 dolls this year, I wasn't expecting to order a 3rd but I really like the SDF body size...

      • x 2
    58. I'm a bit sad to see Luts discontinuing their male and female SDF bodies -- it feels like the end of an era. I just purchased a Type 7 body (they were kind enough to refund me the discount amount in points), and was thinking of the male body as a possible option for hybrids down the line. Not sure it's possible to scramble for funds to buy him now though, even with the refunded points and layaway :pout:

Unfortunately 65cm is too big for my preferences...

    59. Is SDF65 being discontinued? Or just SDF?

    60. They aren't discontinuing SDF65, but they are discontinuing a few different bodies and lines. :( Here's the website notice.
