Luts Senior Delf 65 Discussion Part 1

Dec 29, 2014

    1. My guess is that it refers to their old boy heads. The DF/SDF ones. Because back then they strongly pushed crosscompatibility and the old boys are also available on the SSDF body through myChoice. But I think now that the smaller 1/3 boys aren't popuplar at all anymore the newer heads (those for SDF65 and SSDF) are only made with these two bodies in mind.
And even for the old DF/SDF heads. I am doubtful Luts would market them as compatible with the newer taller and beefier male bodies now.

Edit: I forgot to add that I wouldn't put my SDF Howl head on a SSDF body. I can't imagine that looking good.

      • x 1
    2. Welp I see, I guess I was hopeful since the heads like Eddy can be chosen through doll choice for the male SDF65 body and iirc that has the same neck circumference as the girl body. :(

    3. I don't think it's the same neck circumference. The girl SDF65 girl body has a neck circumference of 9cm and the SDF65 boy body has a neck circumference of 10.5cm (same as SSDF).

The SDF boys have a neck circumference of 9.5-10cm (depending on the body) which is in the middle and explains why they could work on both the SDF65 girls (9cm) and the SSDF boys (10.5cm).

      • x 1
    4. I see, thanks :) I got confused since the slim body has one of 9cm ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    5. I checked again and yes the SDF65 boy type 3 has a slimmer neck than types 1 and 2. The SSDF heads being available on the SDF65 boy type 3 I think happens because there's this old myChoice listing (which was probably made when type 3 wasn't out yet) and all SSDF heads just get uploaded there.
Sadly I do think it won't fit because of the 1.5cm gap. But I mean there's only one way to find out. Actually I currently do have a hybrid with a very similar neck/head difference and the gaping is very obvious.

But all that being said I do think Luts homepage is very crowded and the options aren't very clear. Probably a byproduct of them having been around for ages and their style changes through the years. A few lines have slightly changed in size.

    6. I would guess that’s a typo, tbh.

ETA: totally missed laquaza’s answer!! Mobile browser is lame sometimes. Laquaza’s got it :3

    7. Thanks for confirming for me, I may either do a Shell or Iplehouse Audrey for this particular character, haven't decided yet.

    8. The Elf Diez event head is photographed on the slender body, so I'm considering also getting mine on that body. I guess it's pretty much decided that's the body I'll go for!

I'm fine with having dolls of the same size, but what I don't like so much is duplicate bodies. Irl nobody have the exact same body, so I prefer to have my characters different from eachother when it comes to what body they have, if I can. The slender body does look pretty cool in some pf the clothes I've seen, and a slender kind of elf character sounds like fun :)

    9. I feel the same way, Manabu!! I'm like, "I have all these heads and an opportunity to get a body I've never played with before!" But then I get all scared b/c what if I get a new body and it sucks... And then I need to make a whole new set of slopers/measurements for the new body, too.

I *really* want a senior delf muse body, though. Does anyone here have one they can show pictures of? Maybe that should be the thing that knocks me over the threshold for the event =A=

    10. I don't care so much about the posability or looks of a body anymore. Even if it does not pose all that well or look that good, I just really love having dolls of all kinds :3nodding: I do prefer the regular SDF65 body, but I'm excited about the slender body. Since it does not have the muscles the other body got, I see other possibilities when it comes to clothes. I'm looking forward to figuring out what clothing style to go for.

The Muse body, isn't it just the slender body but genderless?

    11. One day I'll get there, I think! But I'm still early in buildng my collection :)

Yeah, I think it has a flat chest and a smaller waist than the slender body? So I'm curious about how clothes fit/how that affects or doesn't affect posing.

    12. @Ashel @manabusama I actually got the Muse body recently for my Elf Diez and the other Elf Carmine head! I can take photos! I also have the Senior 65 Delf New Body Type 2 (slim) for another doll so I could do comparison photos. I don't have the slender body (I found it too slender) so I can't help there.

    13. Oooh yes please tag me when you do!

    14. Personally I recommend not rushing your collection, unless there's a limited doll and you have no choice but to order. I like to take my time if I can, as I like to be able to be 100% sure I'm making the right choices, and I also like to have a bit of bonding time with each doll before ordering the next one.

I like the idea of a Muse body but not so sure I like the smaller Muse heads. Muse Jean look very nice but the new Muse Ani look so pinheaded :sweat Or maybe it is just that the Ani sculpt look a bit off on a body like this. The older Muse heads does not look so bad on the body.

I can not wait to complete my Elf Diez :whee:, but for now I can only get the head with a faceup, as the original order I'm going to do next month is a lavender Delf Dan. I also have on my list a GSDF Mars that I have waited so long to order now that I should do his order after Delf Dan. So, I'll have to store my Elf Diez away until he get a body.

That would be great, thank you :)

    15. I took this one for now @Ashel @manabusama I don't know if you need more photos or not but they are almost the same height, shoulders seem to be the same. The major differences seem to be in the jointing and the waist/hips and overall sculpting of muscles. Any other angles you want? (I have a Soom head on the Type 2 body, and Elf Diez on the muse body.)

    16. I'm good :) I love the waist and hips on that Muse body, it gives me alien vibes! Now I'm imagining this body as an alien kind of character, or it could be a genderless shapeshifter character, or an angel :3nodding:

It's funny how owner images show way better the body han the official images does. I often make decissions based on owner images rather than the official images. The body look awesome, but for my Elf Diez I want him to have a gender so I'll go for the SDF65 slender body. The Muse body did give me some ideas though, but I'm not so sure I'd be into a Muse sized head :sweat

    17. @manabusama Yeah I got the Muse body for my event elf heads from Luts. I like how it looks right now but I need to put clothes on them to see.

    18. Oh thank you!! This is really helpful as a direct comparison :3 How does the Muse body do with sitting? Does it do the thing where it kinda leans back unless you push the upper joint forward? I think I vibe more with the Muse than the Slender but slender is probably more posable…

    19. @Ashel That is a good question...I can take a sitting picture!

    20. @Ashel Here it is sitting. I will say he is easier to handle because of not having hip joints but I suppose it does limit the posing (I don't do much outside of sitting and standing with my dolls usually).

    21. Oh!!! He doesn’t do the sitting thing that I was worried about (because my other two Luts dolls do it lol). Thank you so much, I am totally getting this body when I get another SDF65!!!

    22. It truly is a beautiful body :blushI compared the image of the Muse body you showed, to a SDF65 slender body image, and the Muse body is more beautifully sculpted!

I can see now why it is called a Muse body XD I'm tempted to get my Diez on a Muse body instead, based on the way I am thinking of styling my Diez. I could make his character a genderless shapeshifter. He wouldn't be the first genderless shapeshifter I got. I do have a Rainman Su modded genderless, they are my Zodiac sign in a humanoid doll form.

There's another thing that makes me tempted to get a Muse body over a SDF65 slender body, and that is it is 1cm shorter. I know it's not all that much , but I don't really want another SDF65 body. At the moment, besides not wanting my dolls having duplicate, same body types, I want to have as much differences in height as I can between my different doll characters. Every cm counts, even it it's just one cm shorter :3nodding:

I won't be able to order a body for my Deiz head during this event, because of my Delf Dan order. But I'm glad I got some time to think this through. I thought I wanted the SDF65 slender body, but that 1 cm matters to me

Edit: Wait, now I got a bit confused about the measurements. It says on Luts site 64cm (head included), but right underneat it says 67cm. No matter what it is, I do like the idea of a tall, slender, genderless, shapeshifter elf character :)

    23. @Ashel I'm glad you like it! I got this specific muse body: Senior Delf MUSE Body Type 2 Neck compatible version. I wanted to make sure the neck would be compatible with the event heads which can fit the Super Senior or Senior Delf bodies.

@manabusama The idea of a genderless elf is totally why I got this body! I wanted to be able to dress them up however they wanted - boy clothes, girl clothes, no clothes since there is no genitalia on display. My Elf Diez head is currently on the Muse body but I also have an Elf Carmine head who will share it with him.

    24. I guess I should call my Diez "them" instead of he, since he have no gender. Or maybe he is a he, only that his sex is hidden, much like with some animals. Or maybe his species are genderless from birth, but they all have a sense of gender and freely can shapeshift into whatever gender they feel like at the moment. There's so many options XD

But I also want him to be able to have a wolf self. Like Timmain from Elfquest, she's one of the high ones. For so long she wandered the earth as a wolf, so she got lost in that shape for quite some time!

I still call him "he" although he is a genderless being, but his sense of self is that he's a he. I just have to go with that he's an elf and a wolf, just like Timmain is :)

Yes, genderless definitely gives a lot of opportunities when it comes to clothing, I love that as well :3nodding:

      • x 1
    25. @manabusama You can call him a he! I was trying to be respectful of the body but I think mine is a he too. I love Elfquest! That would be a cool concept for your Diez!

    26. Don't worry, it wasn't anything you said. I were just thinking out loud, because the opportunities are many with a body like that. Just trying to figure him out :) I'm very excited about creating this character, so I just blurt out any thought that came to mind

Long time Elquest fan here. But back when I first discovered the comic, finding their books weren't as easy as it is now. I used to borrow the books from the library when I were younger. I currently have an art book, but I'm thinking of buying the books now that I easily can find them in any online bookstore, including in my own country.

    27. @manabusama Oh okay! Glad to help you create!

I used to get them from the library too! I also read it on their website - recently I bought them all digitally from Humble Bundle. I even met the creators at a recent comic convention! But I can tell you more about that in messages if you like haha!

    28. I had many of the comics on Comixology, but then they sold their site to Amazon and it's just not the same anymore :| Cool :) Were Wendy and Richard both there? Well, you can tell me in a PM, it'll be fun to hear :3nodding:

And seeing some images of the Muse body really helped deciding. I have been into the idea of getting a Muse Jean before, but after a while I weren't so sure if a full Muse doll (head and body) were meant to be. But I'm glad I at least get the experience of having a Muse body to use with the event head, that'll be real cool!

    29. @manabusama They were! Your inbox is full so I can't tell you more just yet haha.

I'm glad my photos were able to help you!

    30. I didn't realize :sweatI've been longtime chatting through PM with someone, so that's what filled up the inbox XD But I fixed it now :)

    31. @manabusama I've done that too! Thank goodness for Discord or other messaging avenues these days!

    32. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I tried to find videos or info online, and I was unsuccessful. :sweat

How do you change the hands? I never had a doll whose hands weren't attached with a very obvious hook, but my SDF65 boy's hands seem have the cord looped right through them...

      Like so: Photo link.

Tips? Advice? Am I missing something very obvious? :...(

    33. Pull the hand away while keeping the wrist [half]ball against the wrist socket. The hand has a built-in resin hook around which the elastic is looped.

      • x 2
    34. Oh, I see it now! Thank you!

The hook is very thick compared to my other dolls'. Is changing hands somewhat difficult...? I was considering blushing these hands and buying other ones, but I usually rely on the hooks being thin and easy to slip into the loop.

    35. I have very poor hand strength and I haven't had any trouble changing the hands. I poke a little retainer made from plastic- coasted wire into the elastic loop so it doesn't shoot up into the arm while I remove the hand.

    36. That's good to know! Thanks for your help! :aheartbea

    37. My large Luts order shipped after just two and a half months. I'm shocked! I got a boy in the Rosy brown and a looot of extras and I haven't seen Luts ship that fast in a while. Definitely beats my dealer time with Divas (almost a year ><, but I know it's different). Last time I ordered direct they took longer than this too. Very excited

    38. Hi! I was wondering, does anyone have Volks Bronze (like SD17 Regulus) to compare with any of the Luts tan resin colors (brown, light tan, or tan)? Thank you in advance!

    39. Does anyone have any of the girls? I wanna see the bodies...I fell in love with Shell!

    40. Hello! does anyone have any mint gray, gray or lavender dolls??? i want to shell a drow oc of mine and im very conflicted mainly between mint gray and gray.

    41. ::peeks in:: Where'd everyone go?

    42. :sweat It got kinda quiet in here.

    45. Does anyone know if there is a big difference between Delf Bliss and 65 Bliss? I'm confused because the Delf version during the final sale is on the 65 body, but 65 Bliss exists. So, I think I'm missing something.

      • x 1
    46. @Littlebirdzoom : I don't think there is any difference in the sculpt themselves - I think it must be the neck hole is modified to fit the larger neck vs the original that was made for the 60cm body... that's just a guess though. ^-^;

Saw the news they are doing a whole lotta house cleaning!!! Really debating getting the last 2 LUTS dolls on my wishlist! A Howl and a dreaming Hoodoo... :( Of course they do this now when I'm trying to not buy anything... >_<

      • x 4
    47. Was wondering that! Now it makes less sense to me that he'll be offered on the 65 XD But at least I don't have to panic buy him. I think.

Now 65 Bory on the other hand is different, I think, and I'm panicking about him. VERY shocked to see him on the list

      • x 1
    48. @Littlebirdzoom : My guess is that most of the dolls on the list are related to how frequently they are sold. The older ones that have fallen into obscurity or the dolls that rarely sell are getting axed - because I saw some sculpts that are still fairly recent which surprised me too!!!

I think Bliss has always been a popular boy so I think some version of him will remain for sale. The 65 Bory - to be honest I haven't seen many of him around so maybe that's why he's on the list. But agree... totally in panic buy/FOMO mode right now... D:

      • x 2
    49. I haven't seen many of the big Bory around either, tbh. When I went looking I could only find a couple people who had him. Funny, I wonder what made me think he was more popular as the big version lol!

Now I'm wondering what the difference is between Sherard v1 and v2 ?

I'm a little nervous about these heads being offered only on the SDF65 bodies (which is why I'm mentioning them here, mods). I hope they don't look bobbleheaded. Ugh, I feel like I need so much more information to make a decision.

It looks like I'm definitely getting Range. He's so very cute and under-loved. I hope everyone can figure out what they want without going broke

      • x 2
    50. I am wondering this same thing, but with Abadon. Is there really any difference between the head sculpt of Senior Delf and 65 Abadon? The blank heads look the same to me

    51. I have a Delf Annamarie and a Senior Delf Annamarie, literally the only difference is the neck holes - i know it's not a sdf and a sdf65 but i feel the difference would be the same with my Annamaries for example

(Hope it's ok mentioning my sdf annamarie in the 65 thread!!)

      • x 1
    52. Thanks so much! This is actually super helpful, I didn’t know that Luts had different neck sizes. No idea when I’d be able to get him, but I am relieved that he’ll be around for a while. I’m fine with the 65cm body :)

    53. @Littlebirdzoom : The one thing I will mention is that when Luts started the Grand Senior Delf line and released Dion on that body - when I compared the GSDF Dion to my original (3) Dion's who were released on the Senior Delf, Senior Delf 65 and the Super Senior Delf bodies... the head size/features were all the same. the only difference between my GSDF and my other Dion's was the neck hole. So, my guess is any of the original SDF heads being offered on the SDF65 body are not altered from their original size. So there is a possibility some could look pin-headed as they were originally sculpted to fit on a 60cm body. I feel that most of the heads will look ok on SDF65 - especially their early sculpts that were much larger head sizes, but the sculpts originally sculpted for Junior Delfs that got upgraded to Senior delf... will look comical on the SDF65. So some might need to be prepared to hybrid.

I don't think I've seen a Range out in the wild either! Curious to see what he looks like when he comes home! :)

      • x 2
    54. I am sad to see so many of the sculpts go. I just started collecting Luts dolls pretty recently. (luckily I grabbed several heads during the 25th anniversary sale)

I am tempted by several of the bigger sculpts and hope people might have owner pictures of these to share? Preferably with the Luts face up.
Senior65 Gray, Black, Green and Senior Delf Karis.

I need to reduce my wishlist :(

      • x 1
    55. I feel like doing backflips! I ordered my Black head sculpt! I'd like to grab a few others but this was on my dream list

      • x 3
    56. I'm back and forth on getting a fantasy colour or not...I plan to get the 65 Bory because that sculpt is my potato chips. Would the 65 heads be good for hybriding on a more affordable/androgynous body? Should I save for a Muse body for 65 Bory? (Not a fan of the muse line)

    57. Not sure what you are looking for specifically, but I can say the Muse bodies are a nice inbetween of masculine and feminine features. I find the male bodies are a bit too toned and vein-y while the girl bodies are too soft in features. The muse body resolves that.

    58. Are there any companies still matching to Luts brown or light tan? So far I heard dfh doesn't anymore :(

    59. Before the big discontinuation I put a Senior Delf Yuri head on layaway! She's too cute to miss out on. It does mean stealing the Senior Delf girl body from my ANS Narcissa (who is a terrible resin match anyway)

    60. I think I'm really out of practice searching/shopping, so maybe one of you can help - I have heel feet but can't figure out what size non-Luts-brand shoes or boots will fit SDF65 boy heel feet, especially when internal measurements aren't listed. Anyone have any tips or favorites?

Doll tax, and maybe this will also be helpful to someone - my new-to-me Bliss, Astrid, is Strawberry Pink. Had a hard time finding photos of this resin color, and it turns out it's because it's hard to photograph! It's a gorgeous, soft pink tone, not a blazing fantasy color (not that there's anything wrong with that.)
