Luts New Delf (2012) Discussion

Jace is arguing with his gf about prancing around in the nude. Eden couldn't care less.

 

I have had a pretty long break from the SD size now. Mostly because the size I like best these days is MSDs and Tinies. But I do have two Luts SD sculpts that I have liked for a very long time but never got because I have focused on smaller dolls.

Frey Is pretty close to being a grail doll. And I feel very tempted to get him on either a SDF boy or Delf body.

Just wondering on RSB, RSLT and RST is the seam sanding and the lighter marks that it leaves very visible?

 

I don't think luts sands their seams. My Claus has pretty noticeable seams but it never bothered me to have seams. I can slightly see the gate marks they sanded off but, again, I don't think they look that bad

Hello! I'm planning on ordering a Delf Caluse and Nina here in the near future! I love all the owner pictures I have seen of them! I have a question too, I got a SDF event head during my order last winter (I got the Yul centaurs) what size body will that head fit on? Is it bigger than the Delf's? I always get confused on Luts sizing. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

 

All the SD sized heads (from JDF-SSDF) fit all the bodies (from JDF-SSDF) So an SDF head will fit on Delf body and vice versa ^ ^

 

Thanks for the fast reply! I want to order my even head a body when I place my order for my Clause and Nina I was just worried if I order the wrong body I would have a bobble head look or a too small head for the body.

She's modded and been blushed to dollzone Ns-y so that's why the color diff with rsn aragorn. summer 13 is fatter than aragorn and claus esp. around headcap, aragorn is an egg head lol and claus is thinner at chin and bigger at forehead. also comparison with dreaming shiwoo '06-'09. could still wear 8-9in wig, 16mm eyes

Thanks for all the pictures they are so helpful! Also Clause is so cute even as a head! I think I'm going to get Senior Delf type 4 body for my head! So he will be taller than my Delf's! Your Summer '13 head is adorable, but I love my Winter '13. I'm nervous to get them, but excited these will be my biggest dolls yet all I have are MSD's right now.

 

One thing about Delf bodies is they are great posers EXCEPT their torso. Without modding they don't really bend on it. So heads up on that if you're used to very flexible dolls. Senior delf bodies are nice XD

Just a note on the Delf heads on the other Luts bodies, I got an Aragorn head on a SSDF body. It looks a little small, but with the wig it looks just fine and the fit id no issue so I wouldn't worry too much about getting a different body for the head.

 

semi random question. I remember reading a while back that MSC makes RSB look lighter with each application... is that true? I kinda want to buy some blank RSBs in the future and don't really want to get default face-up

 

I would guess yes, MSC will make RSB look lighter with each application. In my experience with MSC on the older delf tan dolls, it makes the head look chalky. I made sure my RSB girl wasn't covered with MSC for that very reason. I forget what, exactly, my faceup artist used (I might still have that email if you're interested), but I'm sure she had to apply it with an airbrush.

MSC was really noticeable on my tan Lishe, even in light coats. The older delf tan is darker than RSB, though, so maybe it won't be as obvious.

 

Agreed that MSC will make tan lighter with each application. My RSB Ju Hee has a faceup that the artist did with MSC, though, and she looks fine (see below!). I coated her body, but I used Volks' ZM spray instead of MSC (pictures of that are in my Flickr stream). ZM spray has a reputation for not lightening as much as MSC, and I've used it on RSB and Iplehouse tan with no problems. It's not as easy to work with as MSC though, as I feel it tends to run a bit more, but YMMV.

 

Are you all using regular MSC or UV? I've had regular MSC make my NS heads look lighter, but the UV hasn't done anything to my tan dolls, or any other color (grey, NS). I've used it on my RSB Claus, Iplehouse Kamau in Ebony, Soom Afi and RS Song in tan, none of them had a color change. Though I had a friend do my Kamau and she didn't use the UV and it totally turned him grey - she had to do him over.

My Claus - I only use MSC



She has a tattoo on her shoulder and back, and I did not spray her whole body, just where the tats are, you can't see any difference at all.

 

For me, it was regular MSC, not UV cut.

I have access to both of them tho I only have MSC UV cut atm (my hobby store ran out of regular). that would mean use all UV cut all applications... man that's expensive XD
also any adverse reaction to 100% pure acetone? I use it to wipe everything but my old cp heads. does it react with the tan? rsb isn't a surface only dye but it's still color....

 

....I honestly don't remember what I used to wipe the face on mine (came with default), but it would have either been 90% rubbing alcohol, W&N Brush cleaner or acetone (or all three), but I don't know off hand if I have 100% or not. I use all three on my dolls depending on how hard it is to clean them, and have only had any kind of horror happen on one of my Dollmore dolls and one of my FL dolls. And I caught it before anything actually bad happened so it was ok. Maybe test it on the head cap first, just in case? I have a lot of Dollmore and FL resin, and literally only one of each had issues, so it was totally a doll-by-doll basis.

 

seems like everything is a doll-by-doll. XD may I ask what happened to your Dollmore and FL?
i'll use the headcap as a guinea pig for the spraying and the acetone >_<
i haven't seen any reaction with my RSN but ugh never want to ruin that delish RSB

 

I have heard that Purity Seal is resin safe and will not cloud on darker resins, if that helps any.

 

Both of them had some reaction to the alcohol I was using. First I noticed that instead of the resin feeling slick as I was removing MSC, it got more friction to it. Then it started to smell more resiny. Or chemicaly. I stopped what I was doing and washed them off with soap and water immediately (especially with the Dollmore, the FL happened first, so I knew what was going on with my DMK), let them sit over night, and finished the cleaning with acetone, which had no reaction on either of them.

I asked a friend who does face up commissions (and had been for years before I even got in the hobby) and she said pretty much what I did, it happens sometimes with random dolls, doesn't matter what company. She said out of hundreds she's done only one or two have had that reaction (which is the same for me - and they were both mine! XD), and that if I had kept cleaning they might have been damaged (I guess they could have melted?! D: ). I want to say she said it was also the Rubbing alcohol that did it with hers too, which is why I switched to acetone for those dolls. As a whole I use alcohol just because it's less offensive to me personally XD but like I said, I'll switch to one of the others if necessary, so I have experience with all of them.

Edit: Also I don't think it matters or not but it was the bodies that had this problem, not the heads...which isn't shocking for my LTF, he's a hybrid and has a different company's head, but my DMK was bought as a full doll, cast at the same time. Even weirder, it was only one calf and foot that had a problem.

 

I just got my Arwen (in RSLT) repainted and I was prepared for her to look lighter than her body, but if there was any lightening it was minimal. She looks like she matches perfectly still.

I've done a face-up on a Simply Divine cinnamon skin once; used Purity Seal and there was no ghosting at all. I used a total of about 10 layers (he had a beard so lots of blushing :P ).

 

Ack! She's gorgeous! I can't get over that eye detail! And what a great wig....is it handmade? Or did a company do all those hi/low-lights?

I've only lurked around too, because I haven't taken any new piccies of Jean...I'm hoping she'll go to Dollism with me, in a fabulous new outfit, but since I don't sew that's up to my friend XD

On the topic of ghosting/clouding/lightening... yes very late, I apologize. My real skin brown Aragorn, Yue, was sealed with Vallejo and there is no problems with any of that~! I was honestly worried about ghosting/clouding/lightening when I sent him off for a faceup, but Xhanthi told me that there wouldn't be any with the Vallejo and she was right~! >w<
I even forget he has sealant every once in a while because it looks so natural. xD;; /slapped

On something of a whim I couldn't resist the urge to pic up an Aragorn head from the marketplace, and...

He's currently borrowing an old NS Fantasy Doll body (which won't last as he has to give it back to my Crobi Lance!) that doesn't really match resin wise at all.

Does anyone know how the Fantasy Doll NS-pink matches with Luts NS?

 

I've been hearing that they match the light/pale NS. Is yours the normal NS? FDoll has normal and pale normal XD
I feel like Pink is too strong a pink compared to RSN

Thank you for your reply! The head is NS (and I'm still... amazed... by how pale it is compared to my 'old' -- yet purchased direct from Luts -- Delfs) and, you're right, what I really meant to refer to was FD 'pale normal'.

If there's any chance the match would be decent I may just have to take the risk and order one.

I hope your boy was finally able to settle on what to read!

 

Random and pointless question: Is anyone going to Dollism and brining their Delf along for the ride? I was thinking of bringing my Claus (I'm hoping to enter her in one of the contests *crosses fingers*) and thought it would be fun to see if there would be more going...

 

No Dollism here, didn't really know about it till recently (after LOTS of doll purchases). T^T

I will be at Dollism, I am trying to decide which doll/s to bring. First choice is the SSDF Cane I received 2nd hand. No contests for me, I still don't know what I'm doing.

 

I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a measurement of the Senior Delf Girl neck circumference or where I might be able to find that?

Also, has anyone made any good Luts hybrids with other companies and which skin tones worked best? (Against Luts real skin)

 

lol I know I would for sure like to enter one of them, and possibly two more, but only one of those would involve Jean (my Claus). So if she gets to enter she'll go for sure. I hope she does get to be in a contest, I'd love to take her and then at least I could have one for sure that I know I'll be taking XD

their heads are a little narrower than my event head and I'm guessing SDF heads are more like the event head size so does it look pin head for a delf to be on SDF body?

 

Luts has a couple more new Delfs now! Joe and Ann. Joe is sooo pretty, he might be a better fit than Aragorn for my plans. I wanted a light tan Aragorn, but I wasn't totally sure, I felt a bit like I was settling on his sculpt, or that I only loved how he looks in certain pictures. I want to see how Joe looks in darker skin tones, but I doubt Luts will do that for me

Once my SDF Bory ships I'll be able to help with the Delf head on a SDF body.

I do have my SDF Uriel head on a Delf body and there's not much difference between him and my Claus.

 

I have a Delf body and several SDF heads, but not the other way around so I'm afraid I can't help with that

I'm extremely excited about Joe, I have to say. I've had my eye on Claus ever since he was released, but I think there is a fair chance that I'll be getting Joe instead. It won't happen too soon though, so I have every chance to see owner pics if anyone else decides to take the plunge

snowgray made the t-shirt :3 We were at a meet together and I didn't have a shirt I liked, so she let me have this one! It's so cute and really suits her. I ordered another wig and some more clothes that are closer to what I'm imagining for her style, but this wig is such a lovely color.
