Luts Model Delf 45cm (MDF) mature mini discussion part 1

Mar 13, 2014

    1. @sugarbeta @Aira
Ive only got the old body and it looks like the new feet are slightly wider. The Minifee flats I have from Sumomo82 on etsy dont fit barefooted but do fine if she has leggings on. I am thinking about ordering their Minifee Moe size for her next time, so they are a little smaller.

Though to be honest if it were not for the fact that mine is in real brown skin I would just try to see if another company foot fit her leg. The updated body might be better about it but sometimes mine doesnt like to stand on her tiny little feet.

For clothes Im not much help. Mine has just been in some homemade skirts and leggings. They leggings were just some generic msd sized ones.

For shirts Ive just had her in looser tops so the fit wasnt a problem, even with her medium bust.

    2. @Aira Thanks! That's awesome to hear, since shoes are usually the bane of my existence. Hopefully someone knows how MDF girls stack up as far as clothing fit goes. I'm hesitant about buying anything, since I don't have any other girls in this scale if something doesn't fit her. At least she'll have shoes, I guess. That's technically not naked...

Edit: @Alaia Thanks for the info! Mine will be in real brown as well, so I'm hoping she's reasonably stable on her feet. With clothes, I suppose sticking with skirts and stretch fabrics shouldn't be too dicey as the leggings for yours seem to work for her?

    3. Hi sugarbeta :) Standard sized MSD clothing fits perfectly. Most Minifee/slim mini stuff will be too small. I was surprised to see how large the MD girl body is considering the head is so small. I love the body because it's so easy to outfit because the majority of MSD clothes out there is standard size.

    4. @CindyG Thank you so much! That will save me a lot of headache now that I know to steer clear of the slim stuff. That's so interesting; from the pictures and the proportions of the body compared with the head I'd assumed MDF girls would be more on the slim side. Now I can relax!

@Aira you were asking about clothes as well, so wanted to make sure you saw CindyG's reply. :)

    5. @Rosslyn OH!!! I just talked myself out of keeping my mdf, but now i want one of the sleeping heads XD They're all so so lovely!!

    6. I pulled the trigger and will be receiving my own Model Delf soon! I purchased Dion 2nd hand with the old smooth type body. :D I am really excited for him and going through the threads for inspration and ideas!

I really want a sleeping head too now that they're back :aeyepop:

    7. Rain. Waiting for his friend to be ordered, hopefully this year.

    8. @xyuemoto that resin color is so nice! The tan pops nicely against that wig.

    9. Thanks!

    10. I'm so upset... I got my model delf lazuli today. She's my first BJD and she came broken. Her resin hooks in her wrists are just broken. When I opened the box, her hands and forearm just fell off her body.
I'm still waiting for luts to reply but for now, I just need to vent my frustration so I don't start crying. :(

Her leg also broke off. How could my first BJD go so wrong. I was filming it and all because I wanted to commemorate the moment. Now I just have videos of me being upset because my first BJD came to broken. I was so excited too....

I need advice please... Or some moral support. I just feel so sad right now about this....

    11. My first bjd arrived with no eyes when she was supposed to have eyes, but thatโ€™s the only box opening saddness Iโ€™ve ever had. Truly sorry for your experience @Aoikame . Iโ€™m sure Luts will make everything right.

    12. @Aoikame LUTS will fix it for you! :3nodding:
But it sure is unfortunate... The wait-times are already long, so finally getting the doll to having to wait for replacement-parts - especially when it comes to ones first doll - does not help ones nerves.

    13. @Aoikame : Many many years ago, my first doll was also a LUTS, and he arrived to me with a broken hand. Luts was very nice, attentive and very quick to send replacement parts right away. I know they will do the same for you and your new girl! Send them an email message on their board, attach the pics and let them know what was wrong, they'll help you. I'm so sorry that happened though! Although I am excited to see a Lazuli in owner photos, I don't believe I've come across one quite yet. :) Will you do her face?

I also wanted to share the arrival of my mini model delf~ He is the 5th Dion in my house (the rest of his brothers are SDF, SD65 and SSDF size) so I am affectionately referring to Joel as "travel size". Really love the engineering and look of the old boy bodies, kind of bummed they will no longer be offered, but it is what it is. :) Any-who~ thanks for looking... I have a box opening thread with more pics here: /threads/welcome-5-luts-model-delf-dion.780333/

    14. Thank you very much @skyealloway , @Yumeiro , and @Dybbuk :(
I really do hope so. They haven't gotten back to me yet. I posted on their Q&A board on the website.
The leg thing might be my fault though. She wouldn't sit down so I gently tried to force her leg to sit, but then a soft crack resounded and her leg was just off her body now. Is it really that difficult to get model delfs to sit down? I watched this video on youtube and he didn't seem to have problems with it. If that part can't be replaced... I was thinking of giving her a mermaid tail. I've already been thinking of modding a tail for a doll before I even got her but was worried about damaging the doll. Welp, Damaging a doll isn't a problem anymore! Hahahaha /cry
Right now, I'm mostly worried about whether Luts would actually help me by replacing the parts. Probably the wrist joints and the abdomen piece. Sorry, I really don't know how this works... I'm so new to all of this.

And yes! I'm planning on giving her a face up of my own! I hope I do a good job on it! I'll post pictures here when I do get around to doing it! :) Your Dion looks great! He's such a handsome redhead! :)

I see he has a scarf! I actually knit my lazuli a scarf in anticipation of her arrival as well!
Here is my disabled child with her wig and scarf. lol

    15. @Aoikame : Don't worry they may take some time to respond, especially due to the time zone difference. 2nd... I think a lot of the damage might have been caused because she was strung very tight. I can't be for certain but if she broke just trying to sit her down... the tension might have been too great. Allow Luts to rectify it, and let them know that you just want replacements for the doll pieces that have already broken. Who knows... they may ship an entirely new body and let you keep the broken body and you can experiment with mods on that one. (Can't speak for LUTS, but that might make the most sense than sending a bunch of random body parts.)

They will replace the parts though, I have never heard of anyone receiving a broken doll and LUTS not fixing the situation. They have a very good reputation as a doll company.

LOL! Your disabled child looks awesome in that scarf and wig... what were you planning on naming her? <3

    16. Seconding Dybbuk-- if I were queen of Luts, I'd figure there may be hairline cracks that haven't yet broken and just send a whole body. Preferably with looser stringing... In any case, your girl looks quite cute still, @Aoikame ! Lazuli is a pretty sculpt, and it's great to see more of her even if she's currently Venus de Milo. ;)

    17. They replied!! Oh my gosh, @Dybbuk and @sugarbeta you guys were right!!

They said they will be sending me a whole new doll because the damages incurred were too severe and very rare. Huhuhuh why did it have to be for my first doll though. Ahhh, they're so kind! <3

But I am happy though that I now have a spare to base her clothes off. I want to make her clothes in advance for when the replacement arrives. Also, I can get in some practice with face ups. Whew! I'm getting excited now to modify the one I have for mermaid parts hihihi!

@Dybbuk Her name was supposed to be Bethany! XD I think I will have to change it now to something more bad ass because she survived such an ordeal. <3
Hahaha! Venus may very well just be a great name for her actually @sugarbeta !

Thank you again for being there for me in this time! I was so worried!

    18. So glad to hear it was a positive outcome @Aoikame ! Luts always makes it right, that's why they are one of my favorite companies.

She needs a more badass name now! She is determined to make an entrance! Now you have two girls to play around with, congrats. :)

    19. @Aoikame
Wait. Are they sending just a whole new body or an entire new doll?

Sorry that it had to happen to you, especially on your first doll.

If you decide you dont want to get much into modding you could also sell the body cheap for parts. Some people are into buying damaged dolls cheap to mod.

    20. @Aoikame that's great! And you have the damaged body to use as a clothes and modding dummy while you wait for the replacement! It's a shame that this happened on your first doll, as it is very rare. On the other hand, what could possibly go worse next time? XD

    21. @Dybbuk I am definitely a fan now!! Thank you so much! XD Hahahah, boy. That was an experience.

@Alaia I'm nooot sure, but I think it's just going to be a body. :) Her face isn't damaged :D at least! Thank you very much for that info! :D

@sugarbeta HAHAHA so true! I don't know what else could top this. I hope I didn't just jinx myself with those words hahahah!
