Luts Model Delf 45cm (MDF) mature mini discussion part 1

Aww you got Leo I just love that sculpt! But I really wish Luts would make both the MDF Leo and Persi head in KDF size!

I have a KDF Curly who needs a boyfriend. An older more mature and handsome boyfriend. The only problem is that MDF heads are smaller than KDF heads...

 

Lapis is at the Post Office. Wish I could intercept him but the delivery trucks leave early and I'm near the end of their run. Guess I'll have to miss my meet-up. I can't wait to see this guy in person! Gotta find him some clothes...

He came early enough for me to get to my meet-up! By the time I got home and got him dressed and wigged it was too dark for photos. I'll show him off tomorrow.

Since I saw the difference in the joints and the thickness of the torso, I started looking on some Facebook groups for the old body.
I kinda prefer the slightly slimmer torso for my doll project
Plus I the wait time will be quicker, and I can work on him during the holidays if the seller agrees to sell this model delf to me!

My camera battery ran out of juice today, just as I was starting to take photos. It's all better now. Wish I could say the same for Lapis. I sat down and compared him to the sample pics on Luts. I suspect the artist who painted the sample is not the artist who painted my doll. The face-up colors are different. The lips are so pink they make him look like a girl. The teeth are visible but they don't have the depth seen in the sample. I'll have to repaint the mouth. Not that I can guarantee doing a good job on something that small, but I can't live with the pink.

He has a really tiny head sitting atop a very thick neck. And there is something weird about his stringing because one foot is loose while the rest of the doll is very tight. He didn't come with a stringing manual; thank goodness, I found the instructions that came with Avalanche. The legs appear to be strung separately. All I'll have to do is shorten the one string that's too long.

On the plus side, he has a slightly better profile than Avalanche.

 

I repainted Lapis (he needs a better name). I didn't do the world's greatest job of it but at least I don't cringe when I look at him. Bye-bye rosebud mouth. Here's a before and after:

Thank you! It's funny, to the naked eye the new face-up looks perfect, but photograph it close up and then view it on the computer and it's like a child drew it. OMG! I must be going blind in my old age!

The new faceup is so much better! He's handsome now. Ihave really wanted a Lapis but upon seeing him in the flesh, and with the body changes, I think he doesn't suits me very well.

 

Thanks! At least he looks like a guy instead of a girl. You know, I keep wondering if Lapis would have looked better in the real skin brown Luts showed on the website. Some companies adjust for skin tone in the face-up. I don't know if Luts does, but if so, they missed the mark on mine.

 

I wonder if they know how many customers had considered another/their first Model Delf but have changed their minds because of the joints. Luts really does appear to think it was the joints and not the variable head size (tiiiny and mature or big enough and infantile) that kept these dolls less popular.

 

I suspect that Luts is so firmly entrenched in its signature style that the company is having trouble branching out. It reminds me of FairyLand's venture into the Chic Line, for which they never bring out new models or even open up for orders anymore. The sad thing is both companies had a good thing going with the smaller, more mature dolls. Sadly both lost their way.

 

I thought that Lapis might look better/more proportionate on a kids delf body but they probably have the same thickness in the necks if they (the heads) fit on either.
The other doll I like is model delf Ruby, anyone have pics of her? How does her head look on a kid delf body/is the head the same size as a kid delf sculpt or it smaller?

@vermont chick Sad cos Chicline seemed like it would have gone great with the little pukipuki dolls, the way pukifees look great with minifees I think the problem was finding clothes for them to wear. It was an unusual size

 

Ruby is a new sculpt, so no one will have pics of her for a few months. I suspect her head is compatible with the Kid body. Luts My Choice lets you choose a Kid body with a MDF head.

I had male and female Chiclines and found that Tonner Doll clothing fit. The boy could wear Matt O'Neil clothing while the girl could wear Ellowyne Wilde clothing.

 

Oh I see, the wait will be worth it I guess! Also the Mychoice seems to only offer Annette, Blanchett and Garnet at the moment in the scroll down option for some reason.

 

They probably haven't updated yet. (I'll bet they forgot.)

 

Here's a pic of my Model Delf hybrid, old body. I am working on getting his head and body to match to the camera. They are perfect to the eye, just not the lens. Work has been slow since I've been sick.

 

@Rosslyn - If the color matches to the eye, it might be that after a face-up, hair and clothing you won't notice the difference so much. Which sculpt is the head?

 

That's what I think will happen, too. *nodnod* He's a Seed Dolls Peabody, a rare gem I snapped up on the last chance from the maker Armeleia. They miiight do another run if there was a group requesting it but AFAIK this is from the last casting. He's about 6.5 inches in head size, and I am making him a hardcap wig so that a wig won't add head poof. He's got Kid Delf Gun Hands on too, which I want to add lil' pointy claws to.

 

@Rosslyn - A 6.5 inch head is roughly the same size as the original MDF heads so he should look normal regardless of poof. I'm not at all familiar with Seed Dolls. I'll be interested to see him when he's finished.

 

Can anyone help? Is there a what fits Model Delf thread? Is there a place to get clothes that fit boy Model Delf aside from the small selection Luts sells on their site? Thanks for any info.

 

Thanks! Armeleia is one of the founders of the Den and they make a lot of little resin figurines, but they also sculpt dolls every so often under the name Seed Dolls or Seed Arts. The heads so far are two MSD heads, Wol and Peabody.

Yep that's mostly us.
I got "slim mini" jeans from TTYA which didn't fit my Minifee at all, and that are snug on the "old" body with muscle legs. He can't sit well in them but they do look good. Likewise their shirts seem to fit him.

 

Thanks for the link, @Rosslyn. The dolls remind me a bit of the aliens in Avatar, although I can see where they could be adapted to lots of other looks.

 

So yesterday I was reviewing my Bory order (Because I definitely patched on some items from the deal order onto it! Lol) and realized I ordered him with the muscle body instead of the .. slim/smooth body? WHOOPS. Guess He's gonna be very toned. Lol!

My MDF Bory arrived today and I quickly snatched stuff left and right currently 'free' aka 'not in use by other dolls, that they belong to' to get him dressed up!
He's on the 'slim' / less buff version of the body.

Oh. Character wise, I wanted him to not be so defined. But now he will be and that's alright. :P I already have both a muscle and slim body. (My Kid delf Kelp head is on the old muscle body, where as my cian is on the smooth sooo -shrug-. I like them both, so it's fine! xD)

I do like the way the old system looks/flows, but So far, it looks pretty smooth and nice. Unlike the pretty straight KDF joints. Lol

Clothing wise, my Bory will be... 'nicely' dressed? I still need to buy him clothes too, but I'd love a real nice suit. Something clean cut. His younger brother is very casual and.. not sloppy, but carefree? This Bory is more mature, handsome.. has his act together? Lol

Also, I believe the eyes that came with him are 12mm. My Abadon actually has 8mm eyes and I'm still contemplating which eye and hair color he'll ultimately have ^^°
Currently don't have that much time, so work on any of my 'in-progress-dolls' is currently 'on hold'. In a week things should start to look up.

I tried 8MM in my cian and they were too small. But the 10 has oto much pupil. Was debating on seeing if Captured in glass can do me a 10MM with a 8MM pupil for Prophet..

I guess I will go with.. Probably one 10 one 12. Lol.

I just got a shipment notification for my Model Delf RUBY. I am really shocked. I ordered her on September 24th with face up--the day she was released. I have never received a doll this fast. It hasn't even been two months. My LUTS dolls (with face up) always took two or two an a half months to ship out. I am excited, but a little worried… Are Model Delf sent out faster than Kid, Honey, and Senior Delf? (Those are the sizes I own). I planned on ordering a Kid Delf girl, but RUBY's face blew me away. So, this is my first time purchasing a Model Delf, so I am unsure about the wait time. Anyway, when she arrives, I'll be sure to post pictures! Hopefully, she arrives safely!

Luts wait time used to be a month! This is super exciting, but also tells me i better get wigs and eyes ordered asap

 

I just ordered a MD Annette that's going to be made into Tharja.
I got some help from the people on the Addicts fb page because I'm really bad at picking out sculpts.

 

My lovely girl arrived today! I am still waiting for the wig and outfit that I originally wanted for her to arrive… So, she is going to be blonde and dressed up in LUTS' free outfit for a while~



Just thought I'd share her, since she is one of the new Model Delf girls. I apologize for the bad lighting… Her eyes are hard to see, but they are brown. She looks even more beautiful in person. Her body is also beautiful, but LUTS strung her a little too tight!

@Snow White @xyuemoto beautiful dolls. The girl has an amazing face and I love the though look of of the boy. Also blue hair and tan skin is a great decision.

 

Here's a photo of her wearing another wig I had on me, while I wait for hers to arrive. I definitely prefer short hair on her~ She is also borrowing her brother's vest~ since, her clothes are still on the way~ And, I have finally given her a name: Essa.

 

I agree, the short wig looks very cute on her. Essa is a lovely name. It suits her.

My mdf boy that I paid off earlier this month is already shipping, that was fast, I thought they start making them once the order fully paid.

I'm actually thinking of getting an Annette in light tan in the future. I couldn't pick her up during the renewal event, as I wasn't sure wether or not the'd work out / was the best choice for the character, but now I'm pretty through with the doll companies and for what I want, she seems to be the best option :3

Anyone happen to have a light tan (not rsb, but rsb also welcome) Annette, just per chance?

Hey everyone ~ My girl arrived today!



I really like the proportions of model delfs.
For right now I just gave her some random clothes and a wig that fit.
I'll post more once I do her face-up and get her proper clothes.

 

Can anyone tell me if Luts matches Little Monica in any resin tone. I wanted a Model Delf body so badly but I have no idea if they match recently or not.

 

Oh, it matches pretty well! But I think Little monica yellows a little quicker than Luts. But I have 2 Little monicas mixed with my luts and I think it's pretty close~

It's not a model delf, but here's my SD couple for resin matching.
When I get home I can probably pop Hopes head (My little Kliff) onto one of the model delf bodies.
