Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 16

Aug 19, 2019

    1. @asatou He's so fancy! I love that style of mori-bohemian dress

    2. I got lavender romance. I’m holding out for a good Fairyland winter event but if they don’t have one I like I will probably get another doll in mint grey or strawberry. I’m such a sucker for these colors and it looks like a lot of companies are jumping on this (good for my heart, bad for my bank).

    3. Hello! I've been thinking about getting an Ani boy, and I was wondering how significant the difference in posing between the 1/3 type bodies and the 2/5 type bodies. Is it worth saving up the extra money, or can I manage without it?

      • x 1
    4. @monkeypizzasonic
Well it depends on what you want out of a doll in addition to posing. Also, which bodies do you mean specifically? I have a Type 1 and a Type 5 KDF.

    5. I wish they would offer a small bust option with the new body. It looks pretty nice otherwise!

    6. Info about any bodies you have would be welcome! I just grouped them based on "bodies I have to pay extra for" vs "bodies I don't".
As for what else I want...easy maintenance? Less floppiness? The only other msd boy I have is a resinsoul and he's pretty kicky.

    7. @monkeypizzasonic personally I like the type 2 (multibody) the best, mostly because of the double-jointed knees. The type 5 poses about the same as 2 (also double-jointed, and both have thigh mobility joints) and is just a little chunkier. Type 1 has single-jointed knees (and no mobility joint in the thigh if I'm remembering correctly). IMO all three are pretty steady/not kicky or floppy.

      • x 1
    8. @monkeypizzasonic what Cennie said is true. Type 5 is a very nice and sturdy body with good posing. I like it though being bigger it is hard to find clothes for. My type 1 boy is adorably small and he even fits some minifee clothes. But he is floppy and even with good elastic his posing is limited

    9. @Cennie @AWeeTiefling
I was thinking of getting the type 3 body, because it doesn't cost extra and it has the thigh mobility joint, but it also has this weird elbow bit none of the others seem to have?

    10. Oh, my.. I was thinking of getting a my choice and getting Jean as a Delf, but now the kid version is SUPER tempting me!

    11. For bodies, I have type 5 and type 2 and I prefer type 5 over type 2 because it sits better.

@Tonboko I think maybe a MDF Jean would look great because of how mature the head looks.

    12. @monkeypizzasonic That one I don't have personal experience with, but I *think* it's supposed to look more like a really old/traditional style BJD with round ball joints; it's hard to tell from the pictures but I think those knees/elbows are single-jointed. Not my preference but there's a certain classic charm to it.

      • x 1
    13. Pretty sure most of my dolls are single-jointed as I've had them for a while, so that's not a problem. I'll probably go with 3. Thanks for your help! I'll be sure to post pics of my boy here in the future when I get him. :)

    14. I swore that I would not get into mature minis... no matter how they tempt me. I like my minis to be kids.. even the slimmer versions of the Kid Delfs are a little too mature for me. I wonder how Jean would like with a younger face up...

      • x 1
    15. I wonder what Jean would be like with a boy faceup. Jean’s eyes kind of remind me of a volks mini doll that also looks a little mature compared to other minis. I think I like the new type 6 body for kid delf girls but wish they made a type 6 body for boy kid delf where they have the same proportion as type 5 in terms of upper body versus legs (as type 2 has longer legs) but not as chubby so clothes aren’t tight on them.

    16. Oh, KDF Jean is so cute! I too was considering a big Jean, but this little one is just perfect. Perhaps she will be my first KDF. :whee: She does have rather "pointy" features, but her rounded face, big eyes, and relatively large head lead me to imagine her more as a young girl than as a teen or adult.

IMHO Jean would make a really cute boy, I definitely get that sassy/moody Volks MSD feel! And that sounds pretty much perfect for the boy body, I wish they'd update it just like that. I do like the more childlike proportions, but slimmer is so much easier to dress. :XD:

    17. I hope people posts pictures of their KDF Jean when they arrive!
There are many KDFs that I haven't really seen much owner's pictures for.
Like Ren! It would be interesting to see more KDF with changed faceup too, I think now that they don't have custom faceup, they just allow people to change to same size heads basic face-up now.

    18. I went on a wig making binge and made my Persia (Kid Zuzu Delf Corni) a new Luxurious wig befitting her feline heritage.:)

    19. @PoeticSoul Love the color match with the eyes and the wig! Even those ears are purple-ish!!!!!

    20. @PoeticSoul That's a really pretty color. The wig looks lovely.

    21. After way too much deliberating, I think I'm going to get Ani on the type-2 body...because I needed to bump my Denverdoll order over $600 anyway so I can do a longer layaway (I'm also getting a Pipos Cheshire).

Thanks for all the advice! I'll be sure to post pics when he gets here! :)

(Also shoutout to Denverdoll for being very lovely and letting me request that they put Ani up on their site so I could order him.)

    22. My Bory is being held hostage by the post office, gonna have to drive across state to pick him up tomorrow before they send him back to Luts on the 2nd. Yikes, wasn't expecting him so soon!

      • x 1
    23. Did you get the event bory?

      • x 1
    24. Yup, got my elf boy in mint grey. I'm weak for elf/fantasy ears.

    25. Oh wow, so fast! When did you order? Did you get faceup? I also ordered mint grey elf bory, with faceup . I was thinking I'd have a four month wait but I guess it could be much less than that.

    26. Yeah, I was surprised he arrived so fast, which is why I didn't make arrangements in case he arrived over vacation! I didn't order with faceup, so maybe that's why. Wanted something different for his character. Good thing I don't live too far from my family's house.

    27. Maybe I'll only have a two month wait then. Exciting! Can you post photos once you get him and your opinion on what the colour is like?

    28. I sure hope so! I'll definitely post pics as soon as I can get them!

    29. Thanks.

    30. @Magnus Vale Lucky you! I rechecked the event page and I've decided I can pass on romance elf for now. If he ever comes up again, I'll leap. (Need BB Bory in milk orange)

    31. @Magnus Vale Ooooh hope to see lots of pictures of your event Bory!

I miss my dolls, not sure when I’m gonna see them again since I’m with family in a different city for around indefinite period right now....

    32. @asatou @xyuemoto @A Wee Tiefling
I have successfully picked up the boy! The mint grey is actually a super pretty color. The mint is subtle, I like it.

I posted his opening here, where I put a few more pictures. I can't wait to get his faceup done too, gotta contact my favorite person and see if she'll have any slots after the holidays are over.

      • x 2
    33. @Magnus Vale - Wow, he looks so cool! I'm glad the colour is definitely green toned and not blue.

    34. @xyuemoto It's definitely a nice subtle green. It's quite pretty in person.
@A Wee Tiefling He really is cute! I'm working on planning out his faceup, trying to decide colors and such not. Right now he's going to be hanging out in my room and intriguing my parents, since I'm still technically on holiday at their house. He has been dressed for modesty (especially considering the first thing my mom said upon seeing him was, "Oh, it's a boy!" Haha!)

    35. @Magnus Vale He's so cute with the wig! Sparkly gold and pearly shimmer for the faceup would look *~magical~*

    36. @Magnus Vale oooooooh you got a blank one! I’m so excited to see what your doll will look like after faceup! :D who’s your go to person for faceup?? also the resin color was a lot more mild than I thought! The intense official pictures looks good but this looks much more versatile to me!

    37. @asatou Yup! As much as I like official faceups, I've gotten quite a few misses from other companies, and have grown fond of coming up with my own ideas for characters! I usually go to tjkardynal here, she's done an amazing job on a bunch of my other dolls. (Currently out of my group, got faceups for Ymir, Caspian, Noir, Colette, Jett, Nimuel, Meta, Zhion, Kaine, and Fion).

I'm definitely quite fond of this resin color, it's a nice neutral color that can go with anything. Makes me almost want another one in one of the other colors, but I'm limiting myself to elf eared boys at the moment, haha!

      • x 1
    38. @Magnus Vale - Your collection limitation sounds great, haha! I wish all my bjds had elf ears, haha.

    39. @xyuemoto Only four of my collection don't have some sort of fantasy ears. Of those four, one has fangs, and one has a fantasy body with bone arms and wings.

Still, I do love Luts dolls, and my fantasy/elf ear limitation is the only reason I don't have more. XD I'll be on the lookout for future kid delf and model delf elves in the future. ;)

    40. @Magnus Vale - Nice! I only have four/five with elf ears but all my bjds characters themselves are all elves. Too bad companies don't make more elf ear sculpts in general, haha. The release of the mint grey elf and that new body did help tip the scale of what to do with my floating kid delf elf head, so he will finally come back. I am almost done with the faceup, hopefully I like it enough this time despite my lack of skill haha.

    41. @xyuemoto - Cool! My characters are a mix of fantasy people, including sirens, tengu, mermen, elves, vampires, dragons, demons, angels, gem elementals, and so on. I think the only human is my boy Ezra, who keeps getting involved in everyone else's shennanigans anyway.

I think my new boy is probably going to be an earth elemental. Maybe a flowery prince. I have a character named Milo who I think he would suit perfectly. If they do release another elf boy in the future, I'm kind of hoping for the cute droopy ears from this version of Bory. I also loved the Berry and Yul elf heads, but hoping for any pretty one really. (and fantasy colors, too, would love a lavender elf)

I've never tried face-ups, but I'm pretty bad at makeup, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea! Plus I don't have the room for a setup to do it myself. I'd like to try someday, when I have better space for it! (I bought a practice head at one point, so I'm prepared, haha.) I'd love to see how yours looks when he's done!

    42. @Magnus Vale - Cool sounding fantasy characters you have. My floating head has those droopy ears, haha. He is not a bory though, I think he is a pine. I hope luts brings these colours back, though I don't need anymore bjds haha, no no. I'll post a picture of him when he's finished. I have his proper eyes but he'll have to borrow a wig and a body. I plan to get him the new slender body next year.

      • x 1
    43. @xyuemoto Thanks! I love fantasy characters. I took some of my inspiration from a game I loved in my childhood (Legend of Mana), and then sort of expanded out crazily from there. Pine is a super cute head! I'll look forward to seeing him!

I definitely agree, more of these colors and more elves. I almost ordered a Carrot too in lavender, but her face is a bit too childish for my personal tastes (although she is very cute).

My new boy's eyes are in the mail, but I think I may stick with the light blue wig he's wearing now. I like it!

    44. @Magnus Vale Wow, that you use the same FUA for your dolls speaks to the quality of the work! I wish I was sensible and had a limit. Right now I'm only getting OCs I really vibe with but even so I'm at a bazillion dolls.
Just did my order for the HDF Bory. I'll be forgoing the fantasy elf for the time being. I can admire your guy.

    45. @A Wee Tiefling Yeah, they're always a pleasure to work with and I love the results! She's currently doing two of my dolls (one blank, and one with an old company faceup) so I'll probably wait until those two are done before sending over my new boy!

I'm pretty much at the place I want to be at numbers wise, so unless something with really amazing ears in MSD size comes out, I'm resisting. XD Although if Luts releases another KDF or MDF with lovely elf ears and fantasy colors, I'll probably indulge again. That lavender is lovely, and I hope people will share pics of it soon!

    46. @Magnus Vale @xyuemoto I'll have to admire your fantasy crews from afar. I agree, the floppy elf ears are so kawaii! Can't wait to see the fantasy colours coming in. I'll need to do a Bory triplicate shoot when my BB arrives.
In the mean time, let's play spot the Kiddelf!

    47. @A Wee Tiefling - Cool diorama set up. I can't wait to see that mint grey colour in person, haha.

    48. @xyuemoto
Thanks! I find that the suggestion of a room can work as a nice in-between space. I plan to build proper rooms eventually.

    49. Hello Everyone,

I can now join this thread with my first Luts KDF girl Althea. She is a 2012 winter event head with a company faceup and a Romantic body.

    51. Thank you so much asatou, I'm just learning her style and have been trying different looks. So far I like this one best buuut that could change, lol!!

    52. Would love to see more pictures of your girl! i think she would look really great in dresses :D

    53. Yep, working on that. Just got her last night, so I haven't had time to get through all the clothes yet and I'll def be taking more picks to see what you guys think :3nodding:

    54. @KimC wow! She’s utterly amazing...so pretty! I’ve always loved the Luts Kid Delf event heads, so it’s a delight for me to see your girl. I’ll certainly be looking forward to more photos.:)
