Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 16

Aug 19, 2019

    1. @DollieLovex3
That's how it happened for me. Had two KD before I got an SD. I currently have an SD65 and a SSDF plus 3 more luts heads who need bodies. I want at least one more luts body and right now I'm eyeing either a Senior Delf or another SD65. >u<

I got matching hair for them, except they don't look matching at all...

Also it's impossible to get brown Bory's skin tone right on picture... it always look yellowy for some reason....

      • x 2
    3. They both look so cute!
The brown skin does have quite a bit of yellow in it, even when freshly caste, at least to my eyes. You may have to do what I sometimes do with my yellowed dolls and change it just a smidge in a photo editing program. I am no expert... and multiple skin tones in one photo makes it harder (at least for someone like me with no clue as to what I am doing really), but sometimes a mild tweak helps.

      • x 1
    4. It might also be a mixture of the wall color behind them plus indoor lighting that's making him look more yellow-toned. Is he RSB or Tan? I have an RSB head and he's more of a dulled tan than anything.

      • x 1
    5. He is RSB, ya to the eyes he is a very dull coffee -ish kind of color but it’s like impossible to take a picture that shows that color.

I tried all kinds of different filters and nothing worked on making the brown skin one look like his exact color XD

      • x 1
    6. @asatou I don't have an RSB luts doll but I do have a coffee-tan Resinsoul and I have found natural light outdoors (during the Golden Hour no less) is the closest to RL for pics. Coffee colour resin is hard because it's an olive base. Though my red-based tan fellow is even worse in artificial light. He looks like a lobster.

    7. My JAMONG is Real Skin Brown. His skin appears grayish in cool or normal lighting, but a little yellowish in warm lighting. It's so difficult to take a picture of my boy without his skin looking different in several photos. haha.

Here's a photo of my PEACH, Kazuki! :whee: I really like her in pink~

      • x 3
    8. I know right???? Real brown skin is impossible to photograph without color distortion ! XD

I’m thinking of getting my dolls some red eyes later but I recently just purchased some green eyes. It’s sitting in storage with my proxy right now... probably not gonna get those until way later.

Are you guys gonna take any Halloween themed pictures? I don’t realky have any Halloween stuff for my dolls but I guess they could just dress up in maid or military-ish outfit....

      • x 1
    9. Red eyes are always fun! And Halloween themed pictures sounds interesting! Maybe I’ll consider making a costume! :3nodding:

      • x 1
    10. @asatou
I'm taking Halloween pictures, most of my dolls have costumes AND we're hosting a Doll'O'Ween meet in October where I'll be providing props. Though I haven't been sharing my KDFs lately they're my favourite dolls to get pics of.
      -
I have fantasy eyes in most of my dolls. They're cool and more subtle than I imagined, considering my Ttori Ramona has blue galaxy eyes and her BFF has pink heart eyes. I like how eyes really seal a doll's look in

    11. Oooh I hope you post your halloween pictures later! Doll'O'Ween is such a cool idea XD

    12. @Shougi Your Peach looks gorgeous as always! :aheartbea

Oh! Halloween pictures sounds fun! I'll try to make something for my dollies too! :whee:

And, here is an updated photo of my Utsuki.;)

I bought her some new eyes. I think I like these best.
As much as I liked the green, the warmer tone seems to look better--in my opinion. :blush
I also put her back in my favorite dress. I buy her new clothes and then end up putting her back in her old one...
I don't know why... I just bond better with her when she is dressed in my favorite look... :sweat

    13. Hi guys, I'm pretty positive that I'll be ordering a Kid Delf within the next couple of months (because I've become very fond of Filo's sculpt), and I'm trying to decide between the type 5 body and the type 2 multi body. So, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how they compare to one another, like how well they stand and sit, whether or not they have any difficulty doing certain poses, etc. Any information you'd be willing to share would be very helpful and greatly appreciated, thank you! :chibi

      • x 1

    14. Hi I have both type 2 and type 5 boy body.

Type 5 sits better but Type 2’s legs are better in that type 5’s legs can kick up/dislocate quite easily whereas type 2’s legs have specific ridges to hold it in place and for different poses.

      • x 2

    15. Those eyes kind of look like the shiny eyes that ur sister’s Jamong had. I like the sparkly look too! Matches the hair bow tie a lot :D

      • x 1
    16. @Snow White I love the sparkly eyes, they're so cool and attractive.

    17. Aww! Filo is cute! How exciting! :XD:
So, I have never owned Type 5, but my sister (@Shougi ) has. It is definitely chunkier than Type 2, but still very cute. :whee:
My Kids are all on Type 2 and I love it. But~, it definitely has both pros and cons.
The body for both boy and girl is beautifully sculpted; however, the chest piece on the girl makes it quite difficult to pose.
The joint is below the breast--not in the middle/stomach--which makes it very difficult for her to bend forward.
The legs are definitely a lot better than the older Type 1. Type 2 legs have very good pose-ability to that of which it can be adjusted in many different ways to hold a particular pose.
I hope I was helpful to you. :)

Thanks! Although they look similar, they are different. My sister's were P Glass eyes from LUTS. These ones are from Alice's Collections. ;)

      Thank you! :whee:

      • x 2
    18. @Snow White Thanks! I do love that dress you have on Utsuki--and she fits it perfectly! :love

@swanlings I did have the Type 5 body. I only sold it, because I wanted a different skin tone and size for that specific doll. :sweat But it was super cute! :aheartbea It is a definite if you want your kid to be on the chubbier side, like I did (at first, before changing my mind)! And I believe the posing was better because the body was sturdier. The only con was that some clothes were a bit tight... I plan on getting one again in the future. Right now, I have several Type 2 bodies. The Type 2 is fun when it comes to posing the legs, but not the chest and abdomen. For the girl, there's no bending the abdomen and, for the boys, the abdomen always seem stiff to me. I hoped I helped!

      • x 2
    19. @Shougi Thanks! I think so too!:whee:

Oh! I forgot to share an updated photo of my Aohime. I changed her look too. She’s now borrowing her sister’s (Utsuki’s) dress. I think I like her better this way. :blush

    20. @Snow White

I still remember seeing Utsuki in that dress! I like the short wig with the bow but I wonder if a lighter brown long wig with brown eyes would suit this look better!

Also which maker is Utsuki's pink wig from?? The color is so pretty, I feel like I asked before but don't remember the maker lol.

    21. @Snow White Aoihime looks a bit like a mori girl in that outfit. Super cute!

@swanlings I have a Type 5 (girl) body and I struggle a bit to find her cute clothes. So many of the things I like are for slim mini/minifee (My Type 2? Bory fits minifee tops easily because he's so tiny) and won't fit her. She has nice childlike proportions which can look really good in some styles but...(sigh) I wish I could sew that size.

      • x 1
    22. Thank you so much to everyone who answered my questions! It seems there are pros and cons to each body type and it really comes down to personal preference. Unfortunately a couple of new limited releases from other companies have thrown a wrench into my doll plans :doh but I know I'll be getting a Filo eventually!

      • x 1
    23. Weighing in on body types:
I have them all. The type 2 multibody is aesthetically pleasing, but we can't get Rayne to sit at all without hunching her and makes it a pain in the butt. Same with my Yuz, Sora.
The type 5 I have is the robot one, so I don't play with her too much. I love how chunky she is, but I kind of have teh same issues with siting.

      The type 1 body is probably my favorite as the girls will sit and stand with ease, but the lack of double knees is sad ;0;

      • x 2
    24. That’s really interesting, my type 5 has no problem with sitting at all! But he actually needs to be restringed and I have no idea when to get to that XD did any of u ever restring ur kid delf? How did everything go lol. I feel like I need a really detailed YouTube tutorial to follow. Even then I don’t have the clip thingy, I wonder if a paper clip can do the trick of holding the elastic in place lol.

      • x 1
    25. I feel like restringing my kid delfs were easier than some other dolls. The trickiest part is luts uses 2 strings instead of one, so getting them at even tension isn't always easy.

Yeah, Ami always slouches though. And it's scary to really adjust her because of the painted gears and what not from her being on the robot body. So I don't think I'll be restringing her anyways...

      • x 1
    26. I’ve never restringed any dolls yet... even just unstringing them feels like a formidable task right now XD maybe I should start with my Volks sdm doll before attempting to do the kid delf one....

      • x 1
    27. It's really not too bad. ^^ First time is always the worse.

I recommend a head puller and 2 pairs of forceps-- but I didn't get any of those until years into the hobby. I just went through lots and lots of ribbon. xD

      • x 1
    28. XD do you think paper clips holders can replace forceps?? I’ve got a head pulled tho but do we need that for restringing??? I only used it to take off head for clothes that’s difficult to wear otherwise.

      • x 1
    29. You need to get the strings back up the neck hole to replace on teh s hook.

Plus it keeps your strings centered and right. :) And I'm not sure paperclips are strong enough, but you can do chopsticks!

    30. Hi all! I’m popping back in after a long absence. :sweat I doubt anyone remembers me and my boys but I plan to make some more memories with some new photoshoots soon! I moved house and have all new nature backdrops for pictures, so I’m excited to jump back in the hobby~ And my love for KDFs is as strong as ever!

      • x 2
    31. Nature backdrops sounds great, welcome back!!! I haven’t gotten any backdrops previously, the ones I’ve seen online just seems so big for kdf lol.

      • x 1
    32. Oh, I meant literal nature as a backdrop! :sweat I almost always take pictures outside, so I’ve never used an actual backdrop with a light setup or anything. I’d like to try it though!

      • x 1
    33. I was watching new anime called Actors: Songs Connection

And there's a main character there the same name I gave me to my doll Saku omg XD

Even the kanji character is the same as the one I chose for my doll XD

Kind of makes me want to get a dark blue navy wig for my doll now lol.

Do you guys have any dark navy blue wigs for your kid delfs?

      • x 1
    34. @asatou I have a dark maroon wig for Annix (Bory), it mellows out his severe yellowing. I tried a dark royal blue wig on him and he looked too jaundiced.
@KiyoshiSenshi I recognize your seal-y Carter! Can't wait to see your KDFs

@Fate Re: sitting and Type 5... I find my Type 5 girl has perfect posture, and she sits comfortably (if with more decorum than I'm used to). My Type 2 Body slouches wonderfully. He's so loose now he just falls into these teenaged mopes.

    35. Aha, most people who’ve seen him once recognize him. :XD: My KDFs aren’t quite as stand out, but I still love them a lot! I haven’t taken any new pictures in a while, but I hope to soon. I’d like to get my Darae a new faceup too! He’s had his for going on ten years!

      • x 1
    36. @KiyoshiSenshi I remember your cute Darae! Such a nice smile. Little glasses!

    37. Yeah! That’s Aelic~ I’m hoping to update his faceup to still be natural and sweet, but a little more detailed. Some of the sealant is slightly funky too, and his wig has stained a bit. He just needs a bit of a makeover!

      • x 1
    38. My Ryuuen (Jamong Romance Ver. Limited) got a new outfit a couple of days ago, and I finally took some pictures! :3nodding: I really like the outfit. I think it makes him look mysterious and calm, which is what I was going for, regarding his personality and character~ I just need some better shoes though... Right now, he's wearing white sneakers. :sweat I want him to wear more sophisticated shoes. But it'll have to wait, since I'm broke right now... I should have added shoes when I bought the outfit... *_*

    39. Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried light brown hair and brown eyes on my Basil, but I won't be changing her look. I've really bonded with it.

Also, Utsuki is wearing a pink wig from LUTS that is no longer available on the site (sorry!). :sorry

      Thank you! :aheartbea

Love Ryuuen's new outfit! He looks so dreamy~ :D

    40. I really like the necklace and how his blond hair matches this look! Wish I could see his eyes more clearly in the pic tho!

    41. Thanks! :blush

It's so hard to get his eyes to show in pictures... (especially when a picture is taken in yellow lighting). His eyes are blue. I'll try to take more pictures (in normal lighting) that better show his eyes. :sweat Sorry!

    42. I find a lot of eyes don’t show their colours unless there’s super direct lighting. I ordered two urethane eyes from someone, probably not gonna receive them until next year due to surface shipping tho. Maybe those will show more easily. I need to take out my Borys for some pictures because it’s been one year since I’ve had them.

      • x 1
    43. Yeah, I noticed that too with my Yuz. I’ve tried some purple eyes but they were way too dark and just blended in. I got some unnaturally blue eyes for him and it makes me happy to be able to see them even with the bad lighting in my room.

      • x 1
    44. I really should take some pictures of my clan x.x; I haven't shared in forever!

    45. Please share some pictures this weekend lol!

    46. Yeah, I too need to do pictures, especially now my KDFs are in their fall togs

    47. Hey everyone! It's SO so lovely to look at your dolly babies! So, I made a leap recently and bought a Kid Delf Yul NS head and I'm super excited! I wanted a different body, so I ended up purchasing a NS Doll Leaves Dream Girl New body! Both of them are waiting to be shipped, but in the mean time, I wondered if anyone else has done a Kid Delf + Doll Leaves combo before and had any thoughts around it? I know the skin tones won't match EXACTLY but I suspect a faceup could help the differences a lot - but I'm more curious about how you felt about the size/proportion fit! I hope this is an okay place to ask about that~

      • x 1
    48. I've only seen doll leaves head on kdf body and not the other way around...

Wish there was like a database of all the heads that fit on kdf body and all the bodies that kid delf heads fit lol. It would be nice if we had a database of all the possible hybrids...

      @caiterprince I did find this tho /threads/luts-kid-delf-discussion-part-15.744040/page-44#post-12648078

Been a while since I posted pictures of my Borys, they look so different even in similar outfit... I've kind of given up trying to make them look similar and boyish XD

    49. @asatou Thank you SO MUCH for that LINK that was SO helpful I really appreciate your whole face! God a database of hybrids would be so cool holy crap.

Also I love your babies! Their faceups look so nice and you've got an nice eye for their angles! Great pictures~

    50. It's been awhile since I've checked on here, but I have been so busy...

@asatou Your boys are adorable as always! :blush

Here is a new photo of Aohime. :aheartbea

I sort of really like the angle of this photo. What do you think? :whee:

      • x 4
    51. That’s a great angle!! It’s so hard to find the right angle for dolls that I usually take like 50 pictures and maybe 1 comes out good lollll. Also does anybody have different hands for kid delf dolls? I am thinking of getting different hands from luts or other companies since luts doesn’t have joined hands. Please show me pictures of your kid delf in different hands!

      • x 1
    52. Thanks! I totally understand! I take about 100 photos and come out with like 20 good ones... haha. :sweat

      • x 1
    53. @asatou I love your Bory twins, they're the cutest

    54. @A Wee Tiefling Thanks so much!!! You should take more pictures of your custom faceup Bory too!!! I'm thinking of getting a custom faceup for my brown Bory in like a year maybe XDDDD

      • x 1
    55. I thought since I got the body now that I'd show you guys what this combo came out to look like!
This is Kid Delf Yul NS on a NS Doll Leaves body! My baby, December, who is still a work in progress!
The head is slightly more yellow than the body, but holy crap I was so excited to see how close it was? This can be easily matched with a faceup for sure!

      • x 2
    56. @caiterprince ooooh thanks for showing the hybrid!

Wow the feet and hands for doll leaves are so different from the luts kdf body!

What year is the head? That body color kind of reminds me of my normal skin bory which is like 2016? So if your Yul is around that then with face up it will pretty much look flawless.

Also quick question for all kid delf owners!!!!

Anybody got the DF-H body/joint hands or the Doll Legend joint hand/body for your kdf doll????

    57. @asatou No problem~

I think the head is a 2018 sculpt! I'm hoping some red/pinky blush to the nose and cheeks and forehead will help match it better! <3

    58. Saw on twitter that luts brown skin will increase their pricing by 15% wow. I wonder how that’s gonna affect the light tan skin or if that’s gonna stay the same. Either way, those of you that want to order brown skin kid delf should do it soon. New pricing start Nov 25th.

    59. @caiterprince That's a great hybrid! I love the proportions of everything, a little more leggy and elegant than the traditional KDFs

@asatou I plan to! I just have been adjusting to new job, new city. But Annix is in his autumn outfit and looking too cute to pass up. Him and Mona will get a photo done in the snow before I change them to winter outfits.

    60. @A Wee Tiefling Thank you SO MUCH, those are exactly the reasons I went with a hybrid! <3 I appreciate you!
