Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 16

Aug 19, 2019

    1. Hi! Her name is Diana. Thank you. :3nodding:

    2. Heartfelt congratulations on your incoming Jean! She’s such a beautiful sculpt, and of course we’d love to see a photo once she arrives. And to answer your question, yes, clothing for these dolls can seem pricey at first but $50 for a full maid’s uniform seems about right. There’s several pieces to it and Alice’s Collections is very reputable. I do a lot of sewing for my dolls and I can tell you that it’s actually more difficult to sew for smaller bodies (and the smaller the doll, the more difficult.) It’s all quite painstaking, hence the high cost. The same thing goes for shoes too. I think the cost is just something we in the hobby become used to.:chomp:

    3. I actually do want a lanky boy with wide shoulders, so he sounds pretty ideal! And the fact you say he looks fine clothed puts my mind at rest :)

      • x 1
    4. Really like this outfit, it's so pretty and matches the hair so well!

@rubycat Depending on the brand and the complexity of the outfit, pricing can be anywhere from 40-100 per outfit, maybe even more! Also you can try to mix and match pieces for less than 40. I think once you look at more web pages for the prices, you would have a better idea just from looking at all the different websites!

    5. Here’s a pic of him clothed if that helps and I added it and another to the same album with the body pictures. These are 1/4 clothes from Alice’s Collections.

    6. This look really great for the taller KDF45 body! Normally I find a lot of tshirts for 1/4 seem to look a bit too long for my liking on the regular kdf bodies!!!!

      • x 1
    7. Yes I was really impressed. I got a sleeveless shirt from them too that was just a tad wide for him but lengthwise it looked nice. I wish I had gotten more 1/4 clothes from there (for some reason my SD65 has more clothes than this boy even though I still don’t have his body) but wasn’t sure about the fit so I only ordered two shirts and the pants. I would still recommend stretchy fabric tops if they’re pull-over style because of his shoulders. I did take his head off to dress him and that helped a bit.
I’ve tried a mdelf top on him too but it was way too baggy.

    8. thank you

Oh, wow. He looks so gorgeous.

    9. hello all! i am planning on bringing Pepper home but i am confused about all the different bodies. it looks like the options are boy body 1, 2, 3 and 5. briefly, what is the main difference? is it just aesthetic? does it impact how they stand or pose? is there one that is generally considered "best"?

he will be a petite, 17 year old high school student so if you have a specific recommendation im eager to hear you out!

i have looked for the answer but got overwhelmed with all the information so thank you if you can help me!

      • x 1
    10. Type 1 is single-jointed legs and double-jointed arms
      Type 2 is totally double-jointed
Type 3 is single-jointed and uses more ball-like joints
Type 5 is totally double-jointed but has a thicker body and limbs so it’s not as slim as the other bodies

They’re all about the same height (41-42 depending on the head) but have different joints. Double-jointed are better if you’re looking for posing ability but I have the type 1 girl body and she stands very well and isn’t a bad poser for being single-jointed. If you can narrow down what type of joints you want you can choose which body you like better aesthetically. The double jointed bodies cost a little bit more as well.

I don’t have any of these bodies but just based on the ones I do have (girl type 1, 2, and Kid45) all the Luts kids are good at standing and are strung very well.

    11. thank you Elomina for your response!! that is exactly the info i needed!

      • x 1
    12. @ziggymoon I have a type 1 boy and a type 5 girl and the size difference between the two is substantial. My boy can wear slim mini clothes (like minifee shirts) but my girl needs to wear larger clothes, along the lines of Volks. If you're looking for a petit and slim boy, type 1 is a good bet (and you can spoil him with lovely things). And like Elomina said, the posing is pretty good no matter what body you choose.

    13. I found these comparison pictures on Luts’ faq section:
      lutsdoll co.,ltd.

      edit:
Also I just tried one of my Luts heads on my new True Love normal pink msd boy body and it does fit. Resin color is pretty dang close too. Minimal head movement but it looks decent. So throw that in as a possible hybrid option to anyone looking for a cheaper body.

    14. thank you @Elomina and @A Wee Tiefling ! this has been super helpful! i think i am gonna go with the type 2 body. he is a baby faced karate master so the posability is a big deal for me. aaah! i'm extra excited now! he will definitely be the next doll i order.

    15. My girl arrived Friday. :whee: I shared her on the waiting room, but did not get the chance to share her on this forum yet. So, here she is:

LUTS' TERRA COTTA skin color is absolutely gorgeous! I was a little nervous on how it would turn out, but I am super happy I chose it for this precious girl! Still waiting on her outfit to arrive~ :blush

      • x 5
    16. That color is gorgeous! :o And I love the way her wig contrasts.
If you ever get the chance would you mind getting a pic of it compared to any of the other Luts colors? I'm curious to see how it compares to NS or Brown.

      • x 1
    17. Thank you! I will try to find time to take a photo of her with my brown, normal, and white skin boys. ;)

    18. @ShadowMist I forgot to say how adorable your Diana is!

@Snow White Yay! That colour is stunning!

@rubycat Congrats on your incoming new doll! Always share pictures, we love all KDFs. $50 is standard for a complex outfit with lots of small parts and is actually kind of affordable when you consider how elaborate some tiny outfits can get. Alice's Collections has a good range of prices for clothing and you can definitely mix and match so you can maximize your savings. Also, wait for MP access and you'll be able to get nice bargains here.

    19. Have a new arrival today, and I threw a face-up on him since I was so excited! I'm still trying to figure out his name (some horrible little part of me wants to call him Epinard, which is a word for spinach, since he is a Kale sculpt). I'm so glad to have him home!

Sorry about the potato cam pic, I'll get some better shots tomorrow when it's light out.

      • x 5
    20. He's Bubble Mint! I should get a picture of him with my other special resin boys tomorrow. The lighting at night in my apartment is so weird.

    21. @Magnus Vale - Is it a whiteish mint, greenish mint, or blueish mint?

    22. More of a very light bluish mint!

Like I said, the lighting in my apartment is weird at night and makes him look a bit more greener in the pic.

EDIT: Here he is with my Mint Grey boy. He's definitely bluer and more pastel in comparison.

    23. @Magnus Vale - Thanks a lot. I was thinking to see compared to the mint grey.

    24. Awww your Kale is soooo cute :love. He looks lovely with the ears and I like the bold eye shadow.

    25. Aw, thanks! I'm still not sure if I'm keeping this face-up or not, but it's fun!

Here's another pic of him in the fluffiest blue wig I own.

Here is a new photo of my new girl, Asta~ :aheartbea

I finally made her a doll profile; you can see more photos here.;)

    28. @Cap'n The lighting was not great today, but here is a photo of my PAPAYA (Terra Cotta) and JAMONG (Real Skin Brown) side by side. Terra Cotta definitely has a pink undertone and is a much darker shade. I will try to take another one with better lighting and with my normal and white skin dolls soon--possibly with my sister's Real Skin Tan boy too, if he ships this week. :sweat

    29. Too many stunning new fantasy colours!

    30. Thanks so much for the comparison!

    31. Oh thank you so much for the comparison. They look so lovely together.

Now I can't wait for my Ani (in rosy brown skin) to be shipped.

    32. You're very welcome! I will definitely take a better photo of them soon. ;)

You're very welcome! And, thank you! I can't wait to see your Ani in rosy brown! :blush

    33. I received my model delf order and with him came the winter event gift head. I honestly thought I'd likely just end up selling the head forward but now I'm kind of in love with it? Or well "him" since I realized that this lil' one is going to be a boy;
Sorry for the awful picture and lack of face-up, I just find him hella cute even like this <3

      • x 7
    34. There’s a teaser for the type 6 “pretty ver” of the girl body on Luts’ Instagram. Looks like the other type 6 but with a smaller bust?

    35. I am super excited for the new girl body! :D My minis are supposed to be kids, so I'm really glad to see a girl body with minimal boobage that isn't too thick and has double jointed knees.

On another note, I really enjoy seeing everyone's dolls in this thread! I love how Luts has so many different resin colors, even outside of events. One of these days, I will order something more daring than real skin peach. :XD:

      • x 1
    36. Did I hear minimal boobage and double jointed knees? :ablink: I just saw the IG post and I AM THE EXCITE. My msd are all 12-14 so this is perfect for me.

      • x 3
    37. Need advice! I'm interested in getting a child/younger sister for my Senior65 boy and I'm leaning towards a 30cm size body from another company but also looking at delf heads and bodies. In my mind the girl is around 7-9 years old.

Can anyone tell me how kid delf or Honey31delf looks beside an SD/65? Or what age range you think they'd fall under?

Also, if you've paired a kid delf head with a Honey body, is it proportional? I think the Honey heads are just a bit too baby for what I'm going for. I'm also wondering if a mature msd head would look fine depending on the faceup.

      Opinions or hybrid experiences please!

      • x 1
    38. @Miss_Lovely791

I have about all of those!
      So here's a pic of those three;
Left is a female Kid Delf, right is an SD65, and center is a Honey Delf hybrid (I don't have a Honey Delf head, sorry, but that head is about the same size.)

      Here's a 30cm doll compared to a SD65. (This is a Myou 30cm which has a pear shaped body.)

But I honestly think that a Luts Baby Delf would be a great 7-9 year old for an SD65. It's the Luts Big Baby line, so basically a thicker MSD. They're about 40cm and other companies also have Big Baby lines (including Myou). Here's one compared to the SD65.

Also Kid Delf heads don't look good on the Honey Delf body. The necks are way too different in size.

      • x 6
    39. @Cap'n

Wow! thanks for all the info! Yes looking at these pics, the kid delf or baby delf might be the direction I want. The 30cm Myou doll actually looks really cute though. It gives me 4 year old vibes, which might suit me just fine too!

    40. I... wasn't expecting that. I only have KDF dolls right now, with two 65+ dolls on the way. I'm shocked by the size difference xD
      Love the red shorts, btw!

      • x 1
    41. Yeah the size difference at first is a shock, and SD are quite a bit heavier. But personally SD is my favorite size because I like the weight and presence of them.

    42. Has anyone got any recommendations for smaller eye sizes for Kid Delfs? I know the default is for them to have huge eyes for a cute effect, but I actually prefer smaller eyes for a more expressive ""edgier""(??) expression. The ones I have for my KDF right now slightly smaller but are too domed to give a side eye look. It's been so long since I bought them I have no idea what the size is, I'd like to see some eye size comparisons before going shopping.

      • x 1
    43. I agree! Both of my KDFs came with random 16mm eyes, but they look too big for them.
My KDFs are currently wearing 14mm eyes. It looks ok but when you make the dolls look sideways you can see a gap between the eyeball and the eyesocket. I was going to try 16mm eyes with a small iris on them, but they haven't arrived yet so I can't tell how it looks yet. I really hope my wide-eyed kids won't look surprised all the time lol.

      • x 1
    44. All my KD wear 14mm eyes. 16mm look way too massive. And I do have some small iris 16mm I've tried in one before but it has a super small iris, more like an iris you'd fine on a 10-12mm eye, and I don't like the look of the iris that small in a KD.

      • x 1
    45. It probably depends on the shape of the doll's eyes, for example for my Ani I wouldn't use smaller iris eyes I own because, well just look:
(not sure why the 14/8 looks so massive despite it having the same size iris as 16/8, guess the smaller pupil causes it?) But yeah, 5mm iris is far too small for her, she looks shocked :XD: I guess 6 or 7mm iris would be better option.

Meanwhile for my Madeleine the smaller iris eyes look just fine:

      Hope that helps some!

      • x 6
    46. Actually I've just received new eyes for Elodie. She looks quite different now I think but I think I like them. They are 14/5 mm eyes from ElfEyesBjd on Etsy.

And these are the eyes she came with:

      • x 4
    47. I use 14mm in mine except for the ones with very large eyewells (Basil, ani, etc). I think the default eye size for some of the heads with smaller eyes is actually 14 - my Kale came with 14mm default eyes. I recommend keeping a few different sizes of spare cheap eyes around to try in each head before ordering more expensive eyes but I think 14mm is the happy medium between childlike and mature.

      • x 1
    48. Thank you for everyone's responses!

Yes I've had trouble with the gap too! I was hoping maybe less domed, more like half round eyes would lay a little better. I never thought of iris size as much, I hope it goes well!

This is really helpful as I actually own an Ani! (I picked the sculpt years ago as a teen, and my taste has changed quite a bit. I'm reluctant to let go tho, being my first doll.) Oh yikes, yeah, the 16/5 are scary :mwahaha I guess it's just finding the balance that doesn't tip too far into 'psycho' looking.

Really shows how eye size can change the whole feel of a doll! Your girl is very beautiful btw!

Yeah getting some cheap acrylics of various may be a good option. My KDF is an ani, thus very wide eyed, so it's going to be a balancing act I think.

      • x 2
    49. Yeah with an Ani you might have trouble with gapping or looking strange if you go too small. One thing that does help if you’re using bigger eyes is to make the doll look to the side. That’s what I did with my Basil - I’m pretty sure she’s wearing 16mm in her doll profile but she’s looking to one side so it doesn’t look too big. Pretty sure I’ll have to do something similar when my Ani gets in.

      • x 1
    50. I ended up redoing my Kale's face up since his eyebrows were definitely not the color I wanted them to be. (Also if it helps, he's currently wearing 14mm eyes?) I also ordered a darker blue wig for him, going to see how that looks.

      • x 5
    51. @laquaza Elodie is really gorgeous with her new eyes. They almost glow.

@digi 16/5 mm eyes is me when the alarm goes off. I can relate to this.

@Niel the only 1/4 dolls I have who look proportionate to my 1/3 dolls are OT for this thread but they look less like siblings than my SD hired a mini-me impersonator.

@Magnus Vale I love how you've done his eyebrows, they give him a firm expressive face. (I have so much trouble with bangs hiding my childers' eyebrows. They're all about to get the big CHOP)

      • x 1
    52. @A Wee Tiefling Aw, thanks so much! I've definitely improved my eyebrow game since I first started doing face ups! His last set wasn't bad necessarily, but definitely too bright and leaning towards the purpley end of blue! These are darker and more saturated, so they should go okay with more shades of blue, wig-wise. His new wig's going to be a darker navy, if all works out, and a fur wig so nice and fluffy!

Most of my dolls have bangs, so I can see what you're saying, although they do tend to cover up my previous eyebrow face up whoopsies. I'll usually redo things if they're too bad, but occasionally I'm just not in the mood to scrub a head! Most of my dolls have bangs (probably just a personal aesthetic preference on my part) but I do have one boy who has super short hair, and my favorite eybrows I have ever painted (Aeon). Which reminds me, I need to actually post a profile for my Kale boy and take some updated profile pics for my other dolls. Also, Kale still needs a name. I can't keep calling him Kale, since all I can think of is the character from Ronin Warriors back in the 90s, haha.

    53. Hey guys, I’ve been eying Luts dolls again, and looking to see if anyone is able to take a comparison picture for me. I’m trying to see what a Kid Delf, a Model Delf, and a Minifee look like next to each other. Preferably nude (or close to it, censoring bits is totally fine) and females.
If anyone could help, I’d be eternally grateful.

I’ve owned Kid Delfs in the past and have Minifees, but I am having a hard time imagining a model Delf in a relative size to them.

    54. A new wig and eyes for my Bory boy have finally arrived! I'm quite happy with how he looks now, the only thing missing is a new face-up :sweat

    57. @dxgirly I've hot an MDF Bory with a KDF Bory. will that help? Alas, no minifees.

    58. I may have also fallen into the KDF rabbit hole this last month. I had fallen in love with their Romantic Madeleine sculpt during their sept/oct 2020 event... but talked myself out of it. Then she showed up in stock on denverdoll in january with that beautiful factory faceup... and all that resolve just went out the window all over again :sorry And my birthday's nearly here, to boot! So here I am!

(This isn't her final look- she stole someone else's wig for a brief moment while hers is on order.)

Anyway, my wallet hurts buuuut... I adore her to pieces!!! I had all these fears about the body wouldn't be mature or sculpted enough for my taste, but the v6 Lovely body really is quite lovely. Just a little on the youthful side, which suits her babyface!

@dxgirly It's not a direct comparison, but i saw this one lineup of a souldoll and a model delf on instagram here, so if you had access to a souldoll/minifee comparison it might give some sort of insight... I hope it helps!
