Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 16

Aug 19, 2019

    1. Then I will be on the look out for her :). Thanks for letting me know.

Ooooh MDF Jean is sooo gorgeous. She is definitely on my wish list as well :love. And Annamarie is super cute too.
Do you know someone that lives in the same area as you? Maybe you can order together then you get the wig and the other person can profit from cheaper shipping (because you can split the costs).

    2. Unfortunately the events are randomized. Each year is different. Last year they had new fantasy limited colors, like grey, orange, teal, mint. Year before that no new skin tones, but you could buy heads separately! So basically...if you want one in one of those specific tones...you are unlikely to get another chance :sweat Layaways was designed for these situations though!

      • x 1
    3. Does anyone else wish we could get the event head in the limited event colors? Luts could have all my money if they had that head in Terracotta or Rosy Brown QQ

    4. Oh that would look amazing :love. I am also kinda sad the full sets are only available in two resin colors. But I guess it's easier for them.

    5. Could anyone post pictures of the type 6 body if they have it? How does it pose?

    6. Just placed an order for Kid Delf PAPAYA in TERRA COTTA! I had been waiting so long to order a tan girl, and finally ordered her! Although she won't be as dark as I originally wanted, I couldn't pass up on LUTS' new colors! I was originally going to get her in Real Skin Tan, but the TERRA COTTA is so beautiful! Can't wait for her arrival! :whee: Also got the KDF Event Head in RSW with face up! Not sure if it will be a boy or girl yet~ Will decide when s/he arrives! :aheartbea

    7. oh my goodness those three dark tones are... *swoon*

I was planning a Muhwa at some point in a tan but if I can get even darker? I just... ooooooo
but which of the new browns? I'm having a hard time figuring out which one I like better. Rosy Brown looks more blue undertoned and Bronze more yellow? Terracotta being red.

ooooo it's between rosy and bronze I think. But I don't know if I really have the money... arghhh.

I have till Jan though right? to put in a layaway order.

I wish they had an image showing the new browns against their non limited tan.

      • x 1
    8. Yes I am really curious about the difference between their tan skin and the new skin tones as well. And I guess until we get owner pictures the event will be over already.

Wishing you luck with your order. There is still some time left until the end of January :). You can do it.

    9. @purple_monkfish @laquaza - There is a comparison posted by luts here of the new colours to the brown resin. You can see they are all red toned compared to the yellow toned brown resin, and luts writes they are "redish". Login • Instagram

    10. seems like I do need some more time to decide what to do with this winter event... :whee:
for days I keep coming back to KDF Kafier, after I was so sure I wanted Diez. this is problematic.... considering the style of the event head, I think they'd look good together as well! (planning to make mine a boy - and probably order him a body during next year's summer event)
it's just hard finding owener pics of Kafier, he doesn't seem that popular. such a shame!

@xyuemoto thanks for the link! I like the more redish color a lot

    11. I was considering a model delf Diez and Bliss at some point, but since they came out with kid delf Diez I might hold out and see if they make a kid Bliss as well. Also a girl kid delf 45 body.

    12. ^ oh kid Bliss would be so cute <3 I hope they'll make him one day (soon please <3 ), I love his droopy eyes. Another doll I'd love to get a kid version of is Terra, he looks so sweet too and I have soft spot for the sculpt.

I think I'm going to sit back and wait for the second round these particular skin colors are available; I want to see more pictures of them in use and how annoying the white elastics look on 'em before I decide if I should buy one myself. Gives me more time to think who to get too. Honestly, I'd love if they just decided to keep these new dark tones available for good so I hope they sell well to encourage that. :3nodding:

    13. Thank you very much. That helps a lot.

    14. I would love for them to make a girl Kid45! Some of my planned out characters are supposed to be average or tall but Luts kdelfs are pretty short. Even if they made a 43cm girl I’d be interested. The girl mdelf body just isn’t quite right for my taller girls.
I’m planning on shelling one of my characters and stealing whatever body I order for the event head. My old Basil will just have to be a floating head until I can get her a new body. I’m thinking of trying the new type 6 body this time around.

      • x 1
    15. Wow, thanks for the picture link! Those event colors are gorgeous

    16. Sadly that's just their brown and not their much darker new skin tan or whatever it's called. Bronze looks to be a similar colour so i'm curious how they compare.

    17. I dont have any photos right now but I will try to take some soon. I am impressed with her posing (my only comparison being the multi body). I have her displayed standing with no issues, and she can touch her face and hold her arms up. The only thing ive noticed is she tends to fall backwards when shes sitting.

    18. Ordered an Ani I’ve been wanting to get so I can get the winter kdelf event head. Going to have to play body roulette when she comes in and one of my crew is going to be a floating head for a while.

      • x 2
    19. Yay. Did you order her as a KDF or an MDF. I think she looks fantastic in both versions. What skin color did you get?

I just put her as into my cart as well ;). As an MDF. Just to see how expensive it would be.

    20. I got her as a KDF. I’m going to use her body for the event head (if she works for the character I’m trying to shell - sometimes I change my mind if the faceup doesn’t fit in person) and literally switching all my kdelf bodies around. I debated getting the MDF body since I’d rather a 43cm body for the event girl but I wasn’t totally sold on it and decided to play it safe.

I got both the Ani and the event girl in normal skin since I wanted to switch all the bodies around and so far all my Luts girls are the same skin tone. Would love to get a tan girl eventually but it didn’t work out that way this time. The event browns look gorgeous but sometimes I don’t like what colors Luts chooses for face ups on event/darker colors and with Covid I don’t feel safe sending stuff out for custom face ups.

Are you going to get the MDF version of the Ani head or the KDF on the MDF body? I usually stick to the KDF heads since most of my dolls have that general head size and I worry about a doll with a smaller head looking odd in my group.

      • x 1
    21. That body switcheroo sounds fun. Do all your KDFs have the same body type or do you have different ones? And I can totally see the advantage of sticking to one skin color. That really does make things easier.
And you can always get a MDF body if you end up preferring it :).

Currently I'm leaning towards full MDF. The different body proportions is a thing and I am not 100% sure what head would be better. But I think I'll just try it out.
I love photography so I do wonder if group shots are going to work but I've seen some nice pictures with KDF and MDFs together.

And I absolutely get what you mean with the face up color. I have a Kale in tan and I feel like it's the same make up as for a NS Kale. Or at least I would have chosen a darker blush color. But luckily it still works it's just not what I would have gone with. I would like to get Ani in rosy brown but I think I'll get her without face up.

      • x 1
    22. I have all different bodies. My first doll I got the Type 1 and my next one I got the type 2 multibody. I also have the kid45 body. Getting type 6 with this order and my next boy I’ll probably get a kid head on the mdf male body since I’m still not totally happy with the kid45. I’ll probably get a female mdf body eventually but they haven’t released a head that would go with any of my characters that have that body type. I’m still hoping they eventually make a taller female kid body like the did for the boys since I’m not sold on the body proportions on the mdf body.

I think for group pictures with KDF and MDF it will depend which heads you have. Even with just the KDF line the heads are different sizes. Bory is on the small side but Basil has a big noggin. If you had say a Basil and one of the more mature MDF heads I think that would look odd in a group together. I try to stick to similar head sizes/face styles on my dolls so they look good as a group but I like having a variety of heights. I almost got the heel feet to make of of my girls taller but the last thing I ever buy my dolls are shoes so almost all of them are barefoot.

Can you post a pic of your tan Kale? I’m interested to see how he looks in other colors since I’ve only seen him in normal skin.

      • x 1
    23. Oh that is very good to know. I was not aware there are different head sizes among KDFs as well. But that can be good for variety I think :). I also got my first doll with the type 1 body but I am not too happy with how she poses. So I hope restringing will help but I am a bit nervous about that and I need to get some string first.
What body do you like best? I also hope they'll release a bigger female body in the future.

Sure here's two pictures. She doesn't have a name yet and I haven't decided on "her" wig either :sigh. I just know the wig I originally planned for her suits her the least ;).

I've included the second one because it's unedited so you can better see her beautiful skin tone.

    24. all the dolls in this thread are so cute! everyone, I love your little ones!

and... I just placed my order as well !
now the wait begins. it was hard to decide who to get. I decided on getting a body, some clothes, wig, etc. and make the event head my little one. had I gotten another KDF, they'd have to share bodies and I fear that would stay that way for too long. this way I can spend more money on dressing him up nicely!!! and I love the look of the event head, he is just so dammn adorable - now I just need to be patient. so many weeks of waiting ahead :...(

      • x 1
    25. Yes I really like the event head as well. Do you already know how you are going to style him?

    26. Your Kale is lovely! That navy looks really good with your Kale’s skin tone. And yes, the faceup looks pretty much the same as mine on the normal skin. I think the only difference is the lip color. I found the Luts faceup a little underwhelming on Kale - I wish it had stronger eyebrows or something. I may get it redone someday if I ever start sending my dolls off for custom faceups.

So far I like the type 1 body best but my dolls spend most of their time sitting so posing isn’t that important to me. Most of my dolls have single-jointed bodies since I don’t care much about posing.
The only thing I’m not a big fan of are the hands on the KDF bodies. I wish the fingers were less chunky. That’s been a problem with most msd dolls in general for me though. I like more slender hands and fingers, like Fairyland has but most companies put chunky kid hands on their msd lines.

      • x 1
    27. I don't have a specific idea yet. I'm waiting for some wigs and eyes I ordered off etsy + the ones with my luts order are all different colors. so I can switch around, mix and match until I find something I like. for clothes I just got very basic shirts and pants, to give me something to start with.
I love the company faceup so I got that as well - at least I hope it will be like the pictures *fingers crossed*

      • x 1
    28. Thank you. I really love navy on her as well.
I kinda had a feeling it's the same face up. For now it definitely works but in the future (a few years from now) I might replace it.

The posing does bother me a bit because I really love to take pictures and I do have trouble with taking nice full body pictures. All my pictures where she's standing look unnatural. But maybe I just need to learn how to pose her better.

Kinda like me with my Kale ;). I just fell in love with the sculpt and I'll figure the rest out later. I am sure your boy will be gorgeous :).

    29. I am seriously considering getting a Diez in rosy brown, but I'm not sure if I want him on a normal kdf body or the 45 body. I'd like him to be a bit more mature looking* but I don't know if the 45 body is worth the extra cash. Can anyone with both a 45 body and any of the normal kdf bodies offer some advice?

      * For context, I want to base him off Peter Pan (and get the event head to be either Wendy or Hook, idk yet).

I also think the rosy brown skin would look really cool with a green fantasy-themed faceup/blushing.

    30. I have it and I have mixed feelings. Granted it’s my only male doll so I don’t have any other male bodies to compare it to but the shoulders seem very wide on the 45 body. It is rather slim which may be why they seem so wide since the body isn’t muscular. I think it would work for a teenage body type character if the wide shoulder thing doesn’t bother you and since you’re going for a more mature look that might work well.

Also Diez and the event head would be great for Peter and Wendy I think.

      • x 2
    31. I've been curious about the 45 body as well - have you had any trouble finding clothes for your doll with the 45 body? Or do the typical MSD sized clothes generally fit okay?

    32. I’m still waiting for an order of clothes from Alice’s Collections so not sure yet. Most of my doll wardrobe is dresses so I haven’t been able to try a lot of clothes on him. I bought a Mdelf shirt from Luts with my order since I figured that would fit better than MSD clothes but it’s really baggy on him. Right now he’s wearing a shirt and shorts from Dollmore that he stole from one of my MSD girls and that fits pretty well except for the shorts being too short. I think normal MSD tops will be fine, not sure on pants since the only ones I have are unwashed jeans and to me those always fit dolls weird and I don’t know why I keep buying them.
Again though, those wide shoulders make putting shirts on a pain! Get stretchy tops or ones that aren’t pullovers if you want to avoid the struggle.

    33. my payment has been confirmed, oh my, now it's really happening! I am so excited for my little one to come home TT but maaan, it's gonna be so many months before that finally happens :frownyblush:
don't really know Luts' waiting times around events (and during covid times especially) but I'll mentally prepare to receive him in summer, that should work out.
and if he comes sooner... all the better for me!!
the first eyes I ordered from etsy already arrived! yay!!! still waiting for a few wigs and then I'll wait till he arrives to get more clothes. judging by your comments, the 45 body seems hard to dress... hm, we'll see~~~~

      • x 1
    34. Congrats :).

Maybe you can pass the time by crafting stuff for him?

    35. Hm... I see, so the 'fitted' clothes like jeans or suits might be a bit tougher then. Thank you very much for your help. <3 I hope you'll post some photos of your boy with his new outfits once they come in!

    36. Pants might be ok since the legs seem slim. I just don’t have any pants to try that aren’t jeans material. The shorts he has on are stretchy material so they fit on easily. It’s mostly shirts and tank tops I had trouble with - I did get them on but it was a struggle. I’ll definitely be able to give a better review on clothes when my order comes in.

    37. Yaaay! congrats! :DI've ordered a Honey delf Aru in fullset only two months ago, and today is on shipping! :cheerThey are usually very fast and work very well!
I hope you receive your little one soon and that you show many photos! :love

      • x 1
    38. Kids 45 body is so wired. I don't like its posture when it stands up. Upon parts always looks like someone shrug his shoulders and the leg parts just too think and completed unlined. :x:x Disappointedd

    39. I really want to get my first boy in that rosy brown shade it’s so hard to find nice darker tones and I like the newer slim mdf :)

    40. My Yul recently became a centaur! She has the centaur head but I only previously had her on a human body. Thanks to a friend, Yuli is now the centaur she was always meant to be. :whee:

I also have a black centaur lower body for her brother (a Berry) but it's currently under maintenance.

    41. @Cap'n congrats, those centaur bodies are so cool. She looks great!

    42. Never really shared my DIEZ, so here he is! I just love his smile~ :blush

    43. Aww! He's a cutie ♥

    44. Aww he's so cute and I love the blouse.

    45. @Shougi Your Diez is adorable! I love his little vest

So I decided not to order the event head. I really do like it, but... I haven't been in the hobby at al this year, and I was trying to downsize and focus on the dolls I have already.

That said, Kit my Kid Delf Berry (and very first BJD ever), is getting a new faceup (after 7 years!), a new body, and a bunch of new clothes and accessories form Alice Collections. So after spending nothing on BJDs for the entire year, I spent a ton in the last week lol. I'm so excited! It will be a couple of months before everything is done, but I can't wait to show her off here :)

      • x 1
    46. I don't think I've ever shared my dolls here. My Bory twins are almost 10 years old and they are in desperate need of a make-over. I've set up a budget for that and I'm buying a new wig for the boy soon. Although getting a new make-up for both of them will be a hassle...:(

Both are in RSN but he is more yellow, while she is more pink. *_* I just hope my newest Luts doll will be closer in colour to my Bory girl.

      • x 9
    47. Awwww I love your Bory twins! I actually really like that curly-ish boy wig! And the eyebrow too, I think the official faceup for Bory changed the eyebrows a bit, the newer models had eyebrows that were different from the original offcial pictures and I was a bit disappointed in that lol but now I’m kinda used to it.

      • x 1
    48. They changed the eyebrows? Eh, I never liked them tbh. I like KDF Diez kind of eyebrows more, gentle and sweet. Maybe I will go for something like that with my boy's new look, though fierce-looking Bory boys are charming as well. I love the sculpt either way!

      • x 1
    49. @Niel I think you need more Borys. You seem to have too few Borys ;)

What are your refreshing plans for them? New style, new faceups, new bodies?

      • x 2
    50. Haha, not at the moment. I'm more into bigger dolls now, but I'm still fond of my MSD kids. If I do get another Bory, it will be on a Senior 65 body... Oh no, don't give me any ideas!

I wanted to get a new body for the boy since his current one is terrible at posing. Unfortunately, he is from before LUTS changed their normal skin colour so if I do get a new body from LUTS, it will probably not match his yellow-ish skin, and trying to find a match with other companies is quite a pain because he has probably yellowed a bit as well. I decided to let it be for now. Besides this one thing, I'm completely revamping these kids, name, style, faceup and all. :mwahaha

I haven't decided on my boy's style yet, but the girl has a cute and confident personality so she's gonna rock pink, white and various pastel colours in a kawaii/fairy kei style of sorts. I'm getting new faceups for both of them as well, though not at the same time, and not until later this year cuz... money. :sweat I have a lot of plans for my doll family, I guess I just need a new job to realise all of them xD

      • x 1
    51. Does anyone have photos of the KDF45 body to compare with other MSD-sized dolls? I've been thinking about getting this body for a while now, but it's so hard to find comparison photos, especially nekkid ones!

    52. [IMG]
Here’s a comparison of my current crew.
      More pics here: imgur.com

My Kid45 is my only boy right now so it’s probably not the best but at least it gives a good idea about height differences. The DF-H girl and the two Daydream Cocos are both about 43 cm, the Luts girls are around 41cm (Basil looks taller because her head is huge and Bory’s is small) and the Daydream Sally is around 39cm. I included some pics of them sitting and one dressed at the end in the Imgur link. I couldn’t do a standing pic since a few of them need to be sueded and the smallest needs to be restrung super bad.

      • x 12
    53. This is generally super helpful. Thank you so much :).

      • x 1
    54. For anyone looking for clothes that fit the Kid45 body - I got my Alice’s Collections order in and the 1/4 msd boy clothes fit just fine.

      • x 5
    55. Oh that's SO helpful, thank you!! He looks great with the Luts girls, and I have 2 so that pleases me! Also great to hear about the clothes fitting him! How do you find the body in general? :)

    56. Well he’s my first boy so I’m not sure if I’m just used to girl bodies but I’m not a big fan of the Kid45 body. It’s not terrible and he is strung very nicely but the body proportions are just....weird. His shoulders are very wide and kind of awkward looking to me - and dressing him is a pain since shirts sometimes have a hard time getting over his shoulder joints.
He looks good with clothes on and I don’t think I’ll end up switching the body out since I don’t hate it but I don’t think I’ll be getting that body again. I’ll probably get the mdelf body for the other boy I have planned since I need a taller body for that character. If you’re trying to shell a lanky character with wide shoulders you’d probably like the Kid45 body. It looks nice height-wise with the other msd dolls I have.

I will say he stood like a rock when I was doing those pictures while my poor daydream sally just flopped over like a dead fish. My dolls spend most of their time sitting so I care more about aesthetics than pose ability.

    57. Playing with this girl earlier so thought I’d share a pic of my little angel.

    58. Aww she is so cute :love. And I love that dress on her. What's her name?

    59. Ah, I am also debating on a Kid45 body because I really like the height difference between them and Kid Delf, but the thing that got me was the shoulders too... They look extra wide without clothes, but the clothed photos also look so good :...(

    60. hello everyone :kitty2 I just ordered my first doll and I'm so ecstatic! :dance she is the kid delf Jean, with the type 6 lovely body, normal skin, with the company face up. I saw her in stock on denver doll so she will be arriving shortly, I can't believe it! I was initially considering the model delf ann, but the wait time was just too long for me. I want a doll so badly, I've been looking at bjds for so many years hehe. I really fell in love with Jean immediately!:love I will be sure to share pictures of her if anyone is interested.

I've never shopped for doll clothes before, so I'm uncertain...I found a dress on alice's collections that I really love, so I think I will shop there to start. their inventory looks very cute. it's hard for me to tell what is a reasonable price though, is $50 pretty normal for a cute maid dress set that comes with: 1 dress, 1 apron, 1 headdress,1 pair of sleeves,1 pair of Wrist bands,1 neckwear? I don't want to get ripped off for being new, but I imagine making small clothes is rather a difficult specialty even though it doesn't require a lot of fabric.

any advice is welcome, sorry if this post actually belongs in the newbie section :doh
      ...sooo excited for her arrival!!
