Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 13

I'm so excited!
I'll definitely be ordering twice through the event.
I've always had my sights on a Pine for my character SAge, but the event head looks similar enough to her that I think I could use her. Her eyes won't be as big, but she still has that happier exterior I want..


@RainbowMarbles I think luts said this was their 'first round' of dolls, so... who knows, it oculd still be a possibility?

 

@RainbowMarbles Yeah, Quino didn't sell very well I think. I really loved his face, but it wasn't a good time for me to invest in a new doll, so I missed him. I kinda just think I probably won't get much chance again in the future, but here is to hoping!

The new boy is...interesting! I think I like him, but I am still deciding, I keep looking at him throughout the day, so that is a bad sign for me...some of my favorite dolls (in my collection) started out like that...

 

I won't lose hope!! He has such a unique nose and lovely face x3

 

Yeah... I need an Aru head in white skin, but my funds for the end of the year are already tied up. It's a shame the heads are only available in normal and white too. I realize that tans are far more difficult to hybrid than paler colors, but I know there are people out there who want to try.

I'm about to order a blond curly wig for my (old) KDF TTORI that I've been wanting to order for a long time. But I took some time to check out the Best Delf section. Happy to find that TTORI is on it

I decided to google for some owner pictures as well.

I came across this blog. Someone who is a big fan of KDF TTORI by the looks of it.

On the top of the blog is a comparison picture of the two. And yes I have read the blog post and the comment below

But I could not believe my eyes when I saw that the newer head sculpt were smaller in size than the older sculpt.


I just wonder if anyone else knew that the TTORI head sculpt had been updated? I sure hope the same goes for any other older and bigger KDF head sculpts. I really hope when I order my KDF AN in the beginning of 2016, that the head sculpt is not big like my old TTORI.

If it's the same size as the newer sculpts I'm seriously thinking about getting a new TTORI as well

 

That's such an adorable faceup! It goes so well with the overall style of the doll too (also that bowtie is absolutely fabulous!).

Oh.. this is terrible news for me! I was hoping that the heads were still big. I have an old Ttori Elf girl and it has been a struggle to find another doll that looks good with her. I was thinking of getting an AN since he seemed to have a bigger head, but I can find so few photos of AN and Ttori together. Eventually my back up was if I ever gave up finding a big headed boy, I would and order a new Ttori and put elf ears on him, but now I know this would not work for me.

When you do get your AN please share photos.

So I sent Luts a link to the blog with the two different sized Ttori heads and asked if the have also re-sculpted AN to have a smaller head and they replied that neither head was ever re-sculpted and they are the same size as they have always been. :l

 

Yes of course It will finally happen now I have ordered his eyes, wig and horns. And googled and found the right type of makeup style that I want for him. So left is only to order him It will be in the beginning of 2016. Or in feruary or march.

But I'll try to get him ordered as soon as I can!


Yes that is bad news for you... I'm just guessing though since the TTORI head have been updated that any other big headed KDF sculpts have too. We'll see if AN also have been updated once I get him.


But I'm wondering if they really have updated all the old big headed sculpts?! It would make sense to give any size updated sculpts updated face-up as well. Last I checked, AN still have his old official pictures.

 

I think what happened is when they switched from S-hooks to the magnet head cap and that is when the sizes changed. It was so long ago that the person now running the Q&A was not even aware that the heads were at one point larger.

How big is your Ttori head? Can you take a measurement like you were sizing him for a wig?

 

Hello ^^! I only own a kid delf ani (on iPad so can't link a pic) from luts but I really like her. Though next to my doll love msd her head appears huge X3 she was bought secondhand and made in 2008, I'm wondering if a different kid delf head might be better proportion wise? I see people saying the older ones seem to be bigger, maybe if I got a new head (I really like nana head, it's really cute!) it might help?

 

Welcome to the "Big Head Club"!
I have an old Elf Ttori and when I got a Maska, he looked to pin-headed next to her that I ended up selling him as there was no way I was going to part with my Elf Ttori (I looked for one with the default faceup for years!).

I sometimes wonder if I sold my Maska too soon.. I had him a year, but if I had waited until I had a whole range of Kid Delf dolls, maybe he would not have looked so out of place. After all my larger Delf dolls have a whole range of head sizes, but because there are so many of them, it does not make any one of them look odd. At least with three releases of him, he is not too hard to find if I want to get him again in the future.

I think if go with one of the newer heads, it will look better next to your Doll Love doll. And now is a great time to get one as they are selling heads only for the winter event. You can get a head and see if you think it will work and either use your Ani's body (if it is a close color match) or get the Nana head her own body. If you are in the US you can use Fabric Friends and Dolls and avoid having to pay EMS from Luts. I would be doing the same thing myself with an AN head if they offered him in the tan colors and I was not so broke from taking care of one my kitties that was having some major issues.

Yeah, I know if I had more than one delf she would probably fit in better head wise. It really concerns me because I planned on getting a kid delf to be my doll love's partner so if my ani didn't look right next to my doll love then I was afraid another luts sculpt probably wouldn't either.

That's true :0 they are having the heads only event! Do I just send a message to fabric friends and dolls saying what I want? It would be great to save some money on the shipping. I'm sorry they don't offer the sculpt you like in a resin color you need, that always bites to see. Thank you for the help, I really appreciate it! And I hope your kitties are okay!

 

Ok I'm way late, but here's the switch! I think the KDF feet look just fine on the MDF body. The other way around, not so much, since the MDF ankles are so much thinner.

Thanks for the well wishes for my kitties! He is recovering quite well from his surgery.

I found out that Dikadoll heads are on the larger side, so I may end up getting one to go with my Ttori at some point. I have already had one of their dolls on my wishlist for years and playing around with photoshop, I think she'd make a cute friend for my Ttori.

And I am not sure if I have posted this photo yet or not... I need to find time to take more photos...

I really like the wig you picked~ Funny you should mention dikadoll, that was actually the first company I bought a doll from in hopes of shelling it into my doll love's partner XD sadly like you said the heads are a little bigger than average so it didn't work out and I'm in the midst of trying to re-home her. I'm going to send a email shortly to fabric friends and dolls, I'm a little nervous and excited at the same time!

This helps a lot! I think I probably would prefer KDF feets on my future MDF Lio. I guess I like bigger feets on some boys. And shoes will be easier to find!

She's so pretty I can understand why you like her so much I hope you oneday can find her someone she'll fit together with.

I'm very curious if my 2016 AN have a big head or not. I don't dare to ask Luts about it. And I don't want to know.

I hope he have small head. But I won't mind it big either if it is!

 

Just make sure you have the KDF ankle joints as well! The ankle joints aren't compatible, so I had to switch them as well. Good luck! ^^

That's kind of sad and kind of funny the their rep doesn't know about the head size change. You would think that's the kind of thing luts would educate them about if they're going to be running the Q&A. There must be some original staff left.

Hello guys Im new to the boards and wanted to say hi. I also wanted to ask those who received the summer 2015 kid delf event head what have you done to him/her. Im trying to get some inspiration for my own. I have given her two faceups already, and have wiped those right off as soon as they're finished. It is like, I cant find her true essence. Hi Elizabeth! Welcome to the thread. It's a nice coincidence that I was going to post about my Summer '15 doll today, haha. Whoops, forgot how long I've had her. She's actually a Summer '14, sorry!

I've had her stored in her box for a couple of months now, and I didn't realize how much I missed her! I had wiped her faceup again, and tried to do another myself but got disgusted with my skill level and put her away (faceup isn't even sealed, lol). I got her out the other day and put her together and I've fallen back in love! I just LOVE the sculpt's sweet expression.

It also helps that as I was putting her together, I put silicon kips in her arms. It makes a world of a difference on the multi body. I love that body but hate the arms, until now! She can actually hold more than three arm poses now!



(Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures; just wanted to show off those arms that aren't bent at 90 degrees!! The bird she's holding is also hollow and weighs pretty much nothing.)
Also, I think she's finally settled on a name. 'Bout time, after having her over a year... She was going by "Anne", but I didn't really like it. Came to a revelation the other night that perhaps her name is really Aspen. I love the name so much more. ^^

 

Oh I love the name too. Aspen sounds really really unique. I love your girl. I love her dress and her big bow. So feminine. Maybe I should try putting my Summer 15 event head on a body and dressing her for a little while. Than might help me figure her out. And thank you for the advice on silicon kips. I{ve never tried that. I have re-strung a body but I{ve never added kips, nor sueded anyone of my crew of doll people. Beautiful picture pencilwolf. I would have fallen in love with her too. She does have a very sweet expression.

This is my Kid Delf Corni! She's my first doll, and I got her during a sale that Luts hosted a year or so ago. Her faceup is custom and her eyes are handmade (and super sparkly!), and her wig is exceptionally unruly. I made the little kimono top she's wearing; it's not the prettiest or most realistic thing, but it fits and is cute and that's all that's important.
She has a weird habit of leaning a bit to the right. I don't know if she's strung funny (I haven't restrung her) or if that's just a habit of Kid Delfs. It's fine either way, considering that she's a bit of a silly kitty and having a wonky body suits her.

 

Hello aliasmedalis. Awesome Corni. I was soooo tempted to buy that sculpt too when it came out. The only thing that stopped me was the fact that I couldn't choose between her and her friend...leo, lio? And I didn't have money for both sculpts so I decided to get none. Hahaahah sometimes I cant bear to have one if they're advertised as a couple and I freeze. But I love what you did with yours. love the kimono and the wig. The pink suits that tanned resin.
