Luts Grand Senior Delf Discussion

Dec 12, 2020

    1. Like everyone else here, I love Saturn’s sculpture. However! I have spent too much already during the month of Dec. so I was a bit hesitant to order him, planning to wait till next year or later this year. Then I noticed that it states that the head is limited and the full Doll is not, I was a bit confuse. As I put my questions on Q&A they responded that the head is limited, so I thought it would be the same for the full Doll......so I placed an order for just the head. If I knew the full Doll is always available I would not be in such a hurry. I also don’t really mind how the head is a bit smaller for the body. I wonder if they will offer only the body later this year.

    2. Luts starts offering the body now. It's up on their website. :)

    3. Thanks I saw that yesterday too!!!

    4. Almost 2 months since I ordered Saturn~ Very excited for him. I also lurked around Luts' twitter and it looks like they have a plan for slimmer GSDF in the future!

    5. Oooh, that's interesting, I generally prefer slender boy dolls to buff ones, so I'm glad to hear this! Definitely looking forward to this. Thank you for sharing!

    6. Anyone recieve their GSDF already? I saw some posts on ig of their GSDF and became curious if anyone else has received theirs or not.

    7. I ordered heads only (no face-up) and they still have not been shipped.

    8. If you dont mind me asking, when did you order yours? I ordered mine (body + head with faceup) mid Dec :( though I also ordered another head only in mid Jan... (this might be why I haven't gotten mine :( ) just wanting to gage how long is the wait time

    9. My order was on Jan. 10, 2021 for blank heads. If you order it with faceup it would take longer for sure. I hope they ship ours soon.

    10. *update, my order has shipped. I hope others are getting shipping notices as well.

    11. I have yet to own a GSD, But I can't stop looking at Mars...he's so beautiful! He reminds me of a grail I've wanted. I really feel like he would go well with my Senior Delf, although the height difference may be a little funny. I'll probably end up biting the bullet, since he's come out I've thought about him for days on end.

      • x 1
    12. Mars is super handsome. It seems like head is limited, but is the whole sculpt limited?

    13. It's not (they mention it in the notice). It seems like every time LUTS release a new GSDF sculpt they offer the head separately for a limited time. However, you can always buy it as a full doll.

      • x 2
    14. Thank you! I was so confused. I'd really hate to miss him too.

    15. Hello~ Luts informed me that my GSDF order is ready for shipping but they need extra USD 88 shipping fee due to pandemic. Luts gave the option to not pay extra shipping fee by offering to ship the doll unassembled and not in the GSDF box. Anyone else experiencing this?

Update: Luts refunded USD 78. Thus, I only paid $10 extra for the shipping.

    16. My Abadon arrived earlier in the week and I am very happy with him overall :D

My only complaint is cause Luts does not sand their dolls, the joint opening was too sharp and it caused the resin to cut the resin every time I stand him straight after fully locking him in a sitting position. Initially, it was a small cut (The pics below are taken when the cut was not too big yet... it got worse later. I even smelled the resin). I brought it to Luts attention through their Q and A board cause I thought it might be factory's defect. But, the rep said... it is in the invisible part of the body and when fully clothed, it will not be seen and thus, it is not a defect. Sad but, oh well... After it actually got worse, I noticed the cause is the sharp opening and sanded him on my own before it was too late :) (Late is better than never even though it is still painful :'D). I hope this does not happen to others

Without further ado, here a couple of pics of him :) I am pairing him up with my AS XiShi (she is 62 cm) and he seems huge when I bend her backwards (to make their line of sight aligned :')).

Hope everyone get their dolls or heads soon (if you are still waiting) :)

    17. I just ordered a Mars with faceup for a very old OC of mine. The wait is looking like three or four months so I’ve got my seatbelt on for this one.

While I wait I’m gonna work on his story some more.

      Anyone else order a Mars?

    18. Oh, you have to share him when you get him! I'm planning to pick up a Mars when it's a better time. Such a gorg sculpt!

      • x 1
    19. I'll definitely be sharing him, yeah, he's a gorgeous sculpt. It's interesting, in the past I had this character shelled in an Annette boy senior Delf sculpt, but he (and I) have matured a lot since then. What drew me to Mars was that he looked like a more mature and masculine version of my old boy. (He's got the full lips, which was the main reason I chose Annette for him originally, there weren't really any full lipped boy sculpts at the time.)

I'll probably be doing some YouTube content with him so that'll hopefully showcase his sculpt a bit more, as I don't think he's been hugely popular.

Good luck with getting your Mars, I hope you soon find a good point to order. :)

    20. I knew as soon as I committed to ordering a Mars there would be a summer event and yet... I did nothing to stop myself. I at least have until July to figure out if Hespe needs to be mine or not. If he's gone before then, it just wasn't meant to be, lol. I'm extremely tempted by that sculpt and the mint gray or lavender resin. They look so pretty omg. <3

    21. I received my Saturn head with face up today. Hopefully everyone else will receive yours soon!

Also for those already received their full doll. I would like to ask how is GSDF’s posing? I am thinking to get the body next. Thanks in advance!

    22. For anyone curious: I ordered a Mars Head to hybrid onto my ID75 body I had laying around as well as the Naval Uniform in GSDF size and it fits the ID75 body to a T! I will say that Luts White and Soom Cream White don't match very well (Luts is much more pink, Soom is a yellow white) though perhaps the Peony White from Soom would be closer? (I also have that on hand, but only as heels on another doll so haven't tried to compare.) I don't post photos here often but I can if anyone wants pictures! :3nodding:

      • x 4
    23. Please do? I wonder how the neck fits the neck hole of the head (because the neck for GSDF body is thick)

      Clothing, size and color comparisons!
The head actually fits rather snugly, no gapping, though much like the same problem I run into with Idealians themselves, they have a lot of limited head down movement because of the structure of the Adams apple :(

      • x 8
    25. Just saw the release of Dion on gsdf :abambi: It would be interesting to see Luts do more of a 'renewal' of their oldies. Something like what they did with the 65cm versions, or even how the company Switch reinterpreted some of their original head sculpts.

      • x 2
    26. I haven't ordered one, but this would have upset me pretty much too if it had happened to me. It is a very expensive doll after all, and from a company like Luts you expect things like this to not happen, or at least be dealt with.

You handeled it before it were too late, and luckily it does not look too bad. It's very small and in a hidden area :)

The GSDF is the one in black right?

He look so hot with the heels :blush

    27. The one in Black is my Soom ID75 Zak! My Mars is on an ID75 body as well in the white suit!~
The black jacket is from the Naval uniform for GSDF, as well as the White uniform on the GSDF Mars, and the hat. I know that a lot of people are gonna be looking for clothes to get these guys that isn't direct from Luts, so knowing their clothes are interchangeable is a HUGE help! :thumbup

And thank you! They're husbands, so I'm glad to finally have both of them together.

EDIT: I'm going to be buying the GSDF high heeled boots to see if they'll fit my ID75 heel feet, so stay tuned!

      • x 4
    28. They are so cute together, I'm a huge sucker for male couple characters, haha and if I see any in heels my head explodes XD

I'm not sure if I'll get one, I'm a bit scared of the size :sweat But I keep my eyes on this thread every now and then, who knows if I decide to give this size a try in the future!

    29. I've been reading about the opinions on the GSDF dolls and I think I was a little surprised to read how many people thought he was really buff! I really fell in love with him when I saw him, I love the big chest and broad shoulders and the more muscular build and don't find the head too small. Contrarily, I've always looked at and longed for dolls for a long time but I couldn't bring myself to buy something small and because I'm clumsy and found most dolls have really large heads (even if it is the doll aesthetic). So I'm very happy with how the GSDF looks personally.

Personally, I think he looks a little more like the manhwa slim but well built boy aesthetic. The proportions seem to be a little more realistic (I think someone mentioned 8 heads tall earlier) which differs from a lot of the smaller dolls I've always looked at (even the SSDFs and the SDFs).

I've always been on the fence but reading a lot about them here I caved and bought myself an Abadon, which I think I should get with any luck around November or December (my first dollie^^). If anyone already has the full doll I would really love to see him posing and in action. Mars and Saturn are also really tugging at my heartstrings. Keeping my eye on this thread because I'm just so keen^^

    30. Do anyone have a comparison between a GSDF head and a SDF65 head, or with any other Luts SD head?

I think Mars is really cool but the body still feel to big for me!

    31. My Neptune arrived this January and I’m very satisfied with the posability of gsdf!!! I personally don’t find it buff because I’m really into large size dolls. But indeed the head movement is limited, especially he can’t move the head down. Also I find the hand doesn’t go very well with the head. The head looks very young but the hand…uhhh how to put it? A bit too athletic? Anyway I changed it to TD72’s hand and felt a lot better

    32. Comparison picture: Soom ID75 Garion in Peony White (left) vs Luts Grand Senior Delf Mars in Mint Gray event resin (right)
I was surprised that Mars was even taller and broader than my ID75 boys. Still a gorgeous sculpt, but DANG BOY! Mars will be Hades inspired by the Lore Olympus web comic. I also purchased a strawberry resin Luts Juniper for Persephone.

I will add that although he's massive he poses very well.

    34. Has anyone put their GSDF boys into IH EID clothes? I'm interested in the fit. TYSM!

    35. As someone who owns 4 ID75s and a GSDF, I find the GSDF to be really boxy around the shoulder area. His top section looks a little too much like a rectangle for my taste after receiving him (a while ago now).

He weighs in at a noticable less than the ID and has joints that 'lock' in to place but I find the sitting on the GSDF really awkward personally and don't really like it. He kinda locks when he sits (with his legs dangling) and he's either too far forward or too far back before he 'locks' which bothers me. Because of the locking, he can keep his arms up well and stand easily enough, but overall I prefer the weightyness and the look of the ID75 (especially around the shoulder area) so I won't be buying the GSDF again. I was also disappointed that I (like someone else in this thread also) received him with really sharp edges and ended up needing to sand his ass area so he wouldn't rub his own resin away from himself.

He does stand slightly taller than the ID75, he comes up to more about 76cm and his shoulders sit higher because of the boxy shape that goes straight out as opposed to an ID75 who has more sloped shoulders.

In terms of clothing compatibility, he has a skinnier waist and hip area than the ID75 and skinner thighs and legs, so ID75 will fit but will also sit loose on him (even tight fit ID75 pants). As for the top, because he's so boxy, if it's a tight fit ID75 shirt, he won't be able to button it past the second button from the bottom because his shoulders are wider and his chest circumference is also bigger. For a normal/relaxed ID75 fit, he will wear the clothes just fine, but for tighter fit clothing, the shirt will not be doing up lol.

I personally don't find the ID75 poses as bad as many people say, he does not have a locking joint mechanism or the thigh cut, but he can still be posed just fine without wire and a little suede in the thigh joint will already do wonders for him. An ID75 is capable of standing while carrying another ID75 on his shoulders and squatting without the knees touching the floor.

That said, if you don't mind the overall aesthetic of the GSDF and don't like the ID75, it's not a bad alternative. The resin finish feels matte, it's a lot lighter, and has locking joints. The clothes can be overlooked if you don't buy tight ID75 sizes and some places do GSDF sizes or I'm sure YC76 or TD75 would fit as well.

    36. Hi guys! Has someone of you GSDF Abadon in real skin normal? I saw him in brown only and very interested how he looks in normal skin tone. I would be very grateful for your photos!
      Thanks ^^

    37. Now that you guys are talking bodies, did y'all notice the new slender ver. of the GSDF body?

I personally find it very appealing since I generally prefer the softer muscle definition and more slender look of the legs over the original version ^-^ And I adore that there will be a heel leg option ♡♡ (I'm so weak for heel legs on boys >.<")

      • x 3
    38. Have you guys seen Earth, Lune, and Helios?

I've never paid too much attention to boys these size but I just saw the new line up of GSD boys from the summer event and, oh God, I'm looking. I shouldn't be looking! :frownyblush:

    39. I really like the new GSDF body but as always, none of the heads suit my taste. :(

    40. Aw, that's disappointing :/ Your wallet's probably thankful tho :')

The new heads are pretty as always, but no one sparked serious interest in me tbh. I do have Mars on my wishlist though, so my plan is to get him on the new GSDF body eventually ♡

      • x 1
    41. Honestly, same. I like them all but not enough to buy one. I prefer seeing them on photos by fellow collectors and admiring them from afar. :> I'd love to see your Mars if you ever get one, too! The more tall handsome boys the better. :evilplot:

    42. Well, that's it. I need a Helios in bubble mint or lavender... I am so happy these skin tones are available again and I really love the new sculpts!

    43. Btw, guys, where you find shoes for your 75 cm dolls? This size is so hard... I saw so much clothes and shoes for 70cm but it looks like find clothes and shoes for 75 cm will be a challenge. I found some shops with clothes in this size, but still no big choice and real problem with shoes:(

    44. For me, I've been getting my shoes right from the LUTS website... which can be expensive unless it's a sale! They don't seem to have a huge variety at the moment for the GSDF but the few I've purchased have fit perfectly! Moonlight BJD also seems to get a lot of 75cm doll shoes as well but I also think a lot of their stock can be found on taobao for a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, I am not savvy with taobao or know a lot about it, so if you wanted to go that route because I know a lot of people find bjd shoes (specifically for 75 cm guys) there, you'll just have to do a little research about how to shop from there. :) Hope some of that helps!

      • x 2
    45. Thanks! And I found yesterday one shop on Etsy which is reseller as many there, but it has more variety of shoes for 75cm dolls and also clothes for a lower prices than I saw some of these items in another shops (not on Etsy only), so now I am not worried about shoes :D And yeah, some shoes in Luts shop also looks interesting for me, so that I added some to my wishlist there:thumbup

    46. I've loved Mars since I first saw him but the size got me wondering whether or not I'd dare get a GSDF. I know for sure now that I want him in the Bronco Skin. A while back he became part of a doll background story I'm working on so I know I'll eventually get him, just don't know when.

But I would be needing a doll stand for a large doll like that. So what kind of doll stands do you guys use, and where can I get them?

    47. I've been looking at Saturn and Abadon for awhile but i haven't really seen any pictures of them that aren't stock! Does anyone have any pictures of theirs? Would be much appreciated c:

    54. I'm not so into the ripply back, but that is one pinchable dolly butt :abambi:

    55. Um, this new 78 cm guy. Does it have magnetic private parts?

I find it a bit strange that it is made same as the Muse body, or am I missing something :sweat

    56. Please don't bite me for what I'm about to say, I just want to get it off my chest, but I'm really not into the new guy - also not into this trend of overly muscular, bubbly, goofy looking dudes with tiny heads (with relatively conventional faces) and Barbie-like (aka, no realism between the legs) bodies. I don't see the appeal and at the risk of sounding inflammatory, Luts sort of feels like they went from their own unique thing to just someone's 3D tech project? Like all of their new dolls seem to strange to me and not Luts-like, very trend oriented, and this takes the cake so far. No offense to anyone if you're into the new body, we can all like what we like! And obviously there's appeal since this trend is everywhere now, but to me it just seems so far off from them and it's a little confusing. Dolls are definitely getting bigger too and I'm over here like... how do yall have the arm strength for that XD I can barely dress my Idealians. I wish more than anything the heads weren't so tiny though. I think that'd make a big difference in my opinion (minus the lack of anatomy realism). I'm really into Vega though and I hope they sell his head separately. His face is great, but I'd like to put him on a different body. It's nice to see him all grown up lol

      • x 5
    57. I think I have to agree with you. I look at it and and wonder what would I do with something so big and muscular?!

But making it have no realistic anatomy there however were the one thing that bothered me most. I were really surprized to see it have nothing there. For something so masculine and manly, to have nothing at all, seems like a strange choice to me. It kind of feels wrong :sweat Not that I want a doll this large, but still it's not the same having the 78 cm one together with the regular 75 cm GSDF, as it feels like they don't belong to the same world. All my dolls are anatomically correct except from one who are modded genderless because of their character, and my tinies, and I prefer it that way.

I think in this case what would have been better is if the downstairs were magnetic, so that you could choose whether you wanted it all flat like that or for your doll to be all anatomically correct.

    58. @Littlebirdzoom
I agree with you too. Been saying something similar ever since Luts first released the newest Super Senior Delf male bodies. Luts used to be my favorite company not only for their style but also for their consistency with a few thing. The first is their resin. I have Luts resin that has a 10 year time difference yet matches exceptionally well. I hope they still have this consistency but some of their newer tans and fantasy colors are too new to have a big range of years to compare. The second was their head compatibility. How if you wanted your Senior Delf to be taller, you could get a Senior Delf 65 or Super Senior Delf body and it would fit. Or vise versa. Even the SD event heads could be used on many sizes. But the newest SSDF bodies have a much larger neck. And other new body releases don't seem to follow that prior consistency often.

I hate complaining about this since Luts has been consistency releasing new dolls and working on new projects. I just miss their old style. And I wish they would show love to their Delf males with a very much needed upgraded body. Or their Baby Delf with more fantasy heads since they only ever made one that was limited. :eusa_pray

    59. The reason behind this is because you're basically bang on about the trend-only-oriented-3D-tech-project comment. I will share my insight on this topic from the persepctive of the Korean doll community of my experience.

LUTS has long been known in Korea for pushing the line extremely hard into the territory of other's styles to an uncomfortable extent, resulting in stepping on people's toes many times and accusations of stealing. In recent years, their habit of hopping on the trend train has become really evident, with a lot of sculpts looking very close to others and seemingly lacking much LUTS originality. Some of the more obvious ones are TIDE and VEGA (SWITCH aesthetics), NEPTUNE and EDDY (LeMoon), the current OBERON and ANTARES (SOOM RPhonolus/SOOM Narmer) and RAS ALGETHI (Iplehouse Leonard). There are cases where their bodies were also heavily inspired by current trends such as the GSDF (SOOM ID75) and the current GSDF78 (The Voice Eagle). Supposed insider information is that LUTS saw how well The Voice sold on their website, and they're prone to buying products of other companies and copying the aesthetics rather than creating their own, so this latest one was based on the popularity of The Voice's Eagle body. You can see the image below for the comparison:

The entire shape of the arms, chest, and joints is very telling in my opinion. The Voice is currently still the only 75 body in the market which employs those joints for the elbows, and it's also a design that LUTS has never once done before on any of their bodies. It's often said that usually when companies and sculptors release new dolls and designs, there are still elements of similarities because everyone has their own aesthetic. But the Korean community is often confused about LUTS' products that don't match each other at all, which is believed to be due to the fact that they like to eyeball the designs of others/buy other dolls and make very similar things according to what is on trend.

Their new head RAS ALGETHI has also stirred up commotion for stepping too closely on the lines of Iplehouse's Leonard, but in particular, you may even recognise the entire aesthetic as the Leonard of one particular Chinese artist's doll (known by @littleoverbearingceo on IG and @BJD_bighammer on Twitter, 小霸总的衣橱 on Weibo). Although her company made a cooperation to provide wigs and have them act as an agent for their new doll line (Lost Myth Doll), she expressed discomfort at how closely their new doll resembled her own. You can see the comparison images below of her Leonard and LUTS' Ras Algethi promotion images below:

      [IMG] [IMG]

So, if they pissed so many people off, why hasn't anyone said anything? Actually, people have, but it's difficult to do anything about it because LUTS rides the line very finely. If you look at the blank images of their heads, there is a noticable difference between them and those from other companies in which they resemble, just enough that you can definitively say in most cases it's not the same. But it's the way that they faceup the dolls and style them to resemble dolls of other companies and mimic their styles that really grates on those that feel like they've been infringed on. The similarities are simply too close for comfort to be unintentional.

In regards to who fought back, their most well known case in the Korean community is their lawsuit with SOOM, where SOOM accused them of plagiarism when the GSDF body first came out. I wasn't around for it and a lot of drama was locked behind anonymous bulletin boards and the social media of the time (now since deleted tweets etc.) but the overarching gist of it is something to do with one of SOOM's sculptor's leaving and working for LUTS. They made the GSDF body when 75s were not too commonplace yet still and ID75 was still one of the only major competitors, so they were sued for making something really similar. The sculptor made some claims to the effect of 'I sculpted everything at SOOM and made the ID75 body so I can use it', but all of SOOM's products are a team project and designed as a team, so there is no sole owner of their products. I do not know the end result of the lawsuit or if there was ever a resolution.

There is also a known case where they allegedly completely stole the 'Holiday' body sculpted by Rosenlied, and when Rosenlied made claims against them, they were essentially squashed and bullied in to submission being unable to fight LUTS as an entire company with just the few employees they have. There are also claims of them stepping too closely on the concepts of VOLKS before in the past, but I do not know of any specific cases of this to personally speak of.

In my personal opinion, their products draw too closely on the lines of others, and I also do not enjoy the new body that has been 'sculpted by them' because it seems a bit ridiculous in proportions to me (although it's fine if you like it aesthetically). I was once also a fan of their dolls, and in fact, my first doll was a LUTS doll, but I've become increasingly disappointed with their releases and also my findings of them in the Korean community. You can take what I say with a grain of salt, these are my personal experiences and findings, and there may be various small inconsistencies, but I believe the overarching information still stands.
