Luts Delf Discussion

I acquired a modded (sleeping eyes modded to a different-shape open) Moon awhile ago, on a T3 body. Finally got a first-version faceup on him. It's harder than I thought, to do yellow eyebrows and honey patch (which also turned out more beardish)! Ah well, as I try switching over to practicing acrylic paints, I'll redo him, but in the meantime --

So, I finally got some pictures taken >_> It's been pretty rainy here and so too dark to take proper pictures, but today the sun was shining, so I get to take a nice little photoshoot of my boy Polydeukes, modded Juri 07A :3 I hope the pic isn't too big...



I really want to buy him a fluffy mohair wig when I have money, his old one is so yuck... Makes him look like he hasn't wash his hair like in ages.

I have been lurking around the Luts site far too much lately...and I still can't decide whether I should get Kum-Ran or Lishe! I love their sculpts!

 

hobbywhelmed: I love your boy! And yeah, it's pretty difficult to get a good blond face up. I watched Kearsy work on my El (he had a similar face up with a goatee and mustache) and having a straight blond face up often is hard to get right. I like they style so far, though!

 

For what it's worth, if you're interested in doing doll pictures Kum Ran seems to be a much more difficult sculpt to photograph well. In person, they're very pretty dolls, but that doesn't tend to come through so well in pictures. Lishe's don't have that particular problem.

 

Sorry for jumping into the conversation randomly; I agree though that Kum Ran's are weird to photograph. Lishe's are so versatile too.

On a side note- I have an EL that I got from Luts about three years ago and I'm finally getting another one. I'll have my Soony by tomorrow, and I'm so very excited.

Hey, does anyone of you have a mohair wig for your delf? I'm trying to find a black fluffy mohair wig for my delf hybrid boy, and just thought, that are the mohair wigs of Luts good? They are pretty expensive though... Or do you have a mohair wig from other company than Luts?
I bought a 9-10 " wig from Luts and it was a bit big for my boy... Well, I don't know does Juri 07 A have a smaller head, but the wig was good for my friend's CP Moon O_o

Just asking any EL owners out there - do you guys have experience of 16mm glass eyes in your ELs? Especially looking off to the side like a glancing position. I'm contemplating getting 16mms for my EL again, but the last time I tried with a pair of Volks HG there were gaps - so now I'm wondering if the sculpt itself has too big eyewells, or the dome on the eyes were too high.

So, yeah, any info would be great =D

 

Aw, Delf on the Luts site raised their prices. Delf boys without face-ups are $448 and the girls are $426. In a way, that can be taken as a good sign of the economy!

My best friend has a Delf Yder too, and she bought him a 9/10 mohair wig from Luts. They're very thick but with some styling, it's not too bad. If you get a wig cap, the wig should fit on his head pretty well from what I've seen. If you PM Orca, she can give you the details.

$448 for a boy... ha... haha... I think I paid that much for Fate's body way back when I got it. OTL And I thought it was a bargain. OTL I hate exchange rate fluctuations.

A price increase means that the Korean Won strengthened against the USD. Good for Korea, I guess...

 

I don't have an El (yet) but I can offer some advice that might help you. An eye beveler (I got mine from Volks USA) can make the eyes fit. I already posted here on this subject, so I'll just put a link to that post: Post #684

 

Dark, I have a black mohair wig on my boy Yuuri (an EL) here's a picture:


I love this mohair wig, I've had three wigs for him and love this one the most. I actually bought mine off of an Ebay store (http://stores.ebay.com/Sunnys-Wonde...3QQ_sidZ200181949QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em3220). They have great wigs here and they are pretty cheap in comparision to some places.

As for 16mm eyes in an EL, I don't have any 16mm, but I do have 18mm eyes in my Soony who normally takes 20mm, and they look fine. There's the tinest gap in the corner of her eye, but not noticable at all. They look good I think.

 

QFE. I thought I'd gotten a great price when I bought a Delf boy body for $500 off the marketplace a couple of years ago, and I had!

 

Indeed... They're still very well-priced compared to what they were a few years ago. XD

I keep debating rather I want to order a Dambi, and I hav eto sort-of chuckle when I compare the price of a Dambi Special with both heads painted to what I paid for Harumatsu & Tien Jen "back in the day". Even with slightly higher shipping costs, it's still almost $200 less.

 

I remember my El, Mike, was $550 and all he had was his face painted, so he was $500 blank. Shipping then was $50, and his wig was $25...

 

Wow...I recently have gotten 2 Delf bodies for under $350! I thought under $450 a couple of years ago was good!

I paid $500 for Ryuichi's body alone in 2008, and that was about what Shiwoo cost then. Then two months after I got just his body, the price dropped to the old price. And now they're going back up.

I wonder how much a vampire Shiwoo head is now....*goes to look*

Can anyone help me???? I really really want to buy Spica
but the going opinion is that Spica is a boy, so I was wondering
if I could (at a later date) buy a senior delf girl body for her....
Will the head fit/look OK? And is there any difference in resin color
between the two lines? I'll be getting "her" in real skin normal since
that's what Lusts says she is in their pictures. This will be my first
time ordering a Luts doll so any help would be greatly appreciated

They were quite a bit higher than they are now... For example, my Jess Special (ordered earlier this year-) was $550 before shipping. My Shiwoo Special (ordered in January 2006-) was $725.

 

It's a shame the prices are going higher again, although it is good sign for the economy, I guess.

If I weren't paying off a B&G boy right now, I'd hurry and order a body for my poor Shiwoo, so he doesn't have to keep stealing Journey's. I'd much rather pay $400 for a body than $500. heh heh

Looking at the prices, they're still not too bad, though. I mean, I can also remember paying well over six hundred for most of my Delfs (including wigs and clothes and faceups and such). My tanned Dark Elf Soo was close to eight hundred after everything, and I remember thinking I'd never pay that much for a doll again (and so far I haven't, even the Elf Lishe I snagged off the marketplace).

 

Wow. XD I'm glad I got them at a time that they were okay priced xD I remember mistakenly thinking that LUTS prices were one of the more reasonable ones out there =P

 

Your Resinoid can be whatever sex you want them to be. For example, I've seen so many Juri boys that, up until recently, I thought it was a boy sculpt!

As far as I know, all of the larger Luts bodies look okay with Delf heads, but you might be better off doing a search in the BJD-opedia, maybe someone else has also asked for pics. Same for real skin normal bodies, I think they match the heads.

But then again, I'm a firm believer that "with a good faceup/body blushing, you can get nearly ANY resin to match!"

I'd also check there for resin matching and body matching.

This probably isn't the best place to ask, since this thread is for Delf only, and Delf seem to be no part of your plans. Their resin is different from the other lines, anyway. You might find someone who can give you more of the information you are looking for in the Junior Delf and/or Senior Delf discussions. And you might find something in Picture Requests.

 

Thanks BF! I really don't have very good camera skills I must admit. I have an older Kodak and it really is time to update it and get some nice backdrops for the dolls! But I still really love Kum Ran. And Juniper. Lishe too. Did I mention Flood??

 

Lula- Since Spica is a junior delf, rather than just a delf, the resin WILL match the senior delf bodies (all the original Luts lines comes in realskin normal/white, So yes, the junior delf RS normal is the same as the senior delf RS normal. I do not know however if the junior delf head would fit/be proportionate on a senior delf body. I'd suggest asking in the junior delf thread to see if anyone has both and can do a comparison.

 

I know how that goes... The "ugly duckling on camera"-thing didn't stop me from buying one, either. XD

 

Bah, I got my El head, but it is much darker than the Domuya body. So I don't know whether to blush it, or get a different body, because the head seems too large for the body as well.

 

Oh very interesting, a price change.

For my birthday at the end of June, I ordered a Delf EL. He came to $460 w/ faceup. Luckily I jumped in and placed my order on 5/29, so I got the older, lower price. -glee- Glad I bought when I did, though the price change is pretty reasonable anyway. Priscilla took about 30 business days for shipping confirmation, so I'm trying not to check the order status everyday like I did with her, since it's pretty futile. But still, I'm very excited to bring my first male BJD home. It's funny because I always said I'd just have one doll, for the longest time, simply to help cover the costs of clothes etc and make that one doll MORE special. So this will be the first time I have two dolls at once! So far it's not hurting my wallet too much. ^____^

strawberrilori which domuya Body did you get? the trouble with Delfs is they have MASSIVE heads, but Domuya bodies are all very nice body's I would say blush the beast and see how it grows on you. I have a Kdoll on a Domuya Perrenial flexi body and the Kdoll head is even larger than the old El heads I think he works very well though

The price going up a bit isn't a bad thing, it just sort of happened. I got my Yder on the marketplace here, for which I'm glad for. He's just gorgeous, but I still want an SDF Blanchet and Juniper. VERY badly. Totally going to get them.

Also, is it me, or does Delf Shine just seem like he would look really good next to a Yder? I can just picture them being best friends.

 

Shine and Yder would look fine together. I think their faces are probably similarly proportioned though Shine has an egg head above his features to make up for it. XD He'd probably look like the Yder's older cousin.

OMG I want a Miyu so bad!! I was wondering: do you know if there are often CP Delfs on the Market Place? I haven't met requirements yet and am wondering if I should pursue some current opportunities.

 

Nah, as others have stated, the Korean won is probably just stronger against the dollar again. That, and companies like Fairyland never dropped their prices and they still do good business, there wasn't much motivation for them to keep it at the lower price forever.

In their notice, Luts themselves said, "Currently, exchange rate of Korean currency and US $ has big difference. So we are going to adjust the price of all the items in LUTS English once again."

I don't see any reason to think that they lied about it, or to look for ulterior motives.

 

Gah! I've been pondering a Miyu for a long time, and seeing Priscilla isn't helping me to resist. lol She's just beautiful.

I suppose I could scour the marketplace and see if I can't snag a Miyu head. I got lucky with a Shiwoo head, after all.

She could just share a body with one of my other girls for awhile.

Priscilla's wig is so gorgeous. I recently got El on his body, and the color match isn't bad! Especially in clothes, I can hardly tell. I don't know whether I like the Delf hands on him, they seem a bit tiny. But I compared his Domuya body to Iplehouse, and it's a good match. So maybe a Delf boy head could look good on an Iplehouse body?

 

IMVHO [In My Very Honest Opinion] maggie13, if I was you, I'd start saving NOW, so that when you meet the MP requirements, you can get your Delf ASAP! You'll be happy you did!


Ryuichi needs another faceup, and I'd love a variation of the anime one he currently has. I don't know why his green [FL Khaki] hair always seems to show up as grey in these pics...



I absolutely LOVE the more anime, non-realistic one that dolls sometimes have, and I'd love another one. My friend Gennifer Bone did this one, but she's not available. Any recommendations?:

Thanks guys! Miyu is by far my favorite sculpt of Luts, and of any company. She's my dream girl.

I searched the market place for a long time before I got Priss, but I never saw a Miyu, head or body etc. I'm sure if you lurk often one will turn up, but she's not common these days.

 

Got some cute boys stuff for my incoming El from 9ninestyle. I hope it all fits well! I wanted to buy jeans too, but they were $33 and I wasn't sure how they'd fit. I ended up getting some from someone on ebay for much less, but I might eventually go back and snag some 9ninestyle ones.

 

I've got stuff from Tata's Paradise coming in for my boy, but he's on a Domuya body and a little harder to fit for. Still, they do have Delf sized stuff and at pretty fair prices.

I love Luts and Miyu was my very first bjd back in 2006. Just yesterday I took some photos of her. I do love her. Enjoy!

Sometimes she has a Medieval flair...and other times she's just a big flirt. She had fun in front of the camera.



I think Luts dolls have the most beautiful hands. I'll post the whole photo soon in the gallery.
