Modeling would be great, thank you! I have run across some Sasha items in my searches but haven't yet purchased any in that size. Thus far I have Wellie Wishers (which is a bit short in the limbs), Magic Attic, Gotz, and Kidz n Cats. I want to try Carpatina and those Disney toddler sizes next and I may also buy some AG sized clothes and see if I can modify them to fit better since there's SO MUCH to be found in that size.
I'll try to get some shots after work today. in my experience, Magic Attic, Carpatina, and Just pretend clothes are pretty much interchangeable when it comes to sizing, though I have minimal experience of the Carpatina ones. Also - American girls clothing... it's a lot of work to adapt and , while it looks nice in pictures, I've never been impressed by the quality of the fabrics, the few times I've been tempted to buy actual AG brand clothes (though I do like their furnishings). Stuff made in AG size by others and sold on eBay and Etsy tends to be a better option... but if you're doing that, why not spend the money on stuff that is a better fit in the first place so doesn't need adapting. Unless it's something VERY unique/special, I generally end up realizing it would have been quicker to make something new from scratch than to adapt to a smaller size. Teddy
@Teddy I've only been buying from individual makers and nothing actually branded (yet) and if I get AG stuff I planned to do the same. But even with handmade AG items, I've found many inexpensive outfits that I honestly think are priced too low. Maybe I'm so used to handmade prices in this hobby but I'm finding AG sized outfits for $10 or less. I don't mind modifying that that little cost tbh.
OK, I took a break from Working from Home (don't tell my boss!) and dragged out some dolls-clothes crates and had a rummage through for suitable stuff - here are some examples: Long-sleeve T-shirt, by A passion for Sasha on Etsy : a smidge long in the sleeves Red cord jeans (no label so could be any one of several makers - I don't recall) a good fit except for being loose in the waist - trousers with elastic at the back or all around the waist are a great fit however, and non-elastic ones made with belt-loops work if belted in slightly. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51051859261_511d434ea9_c.jpg Dress for 16"Kish doll - very good fit. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51051131053_464f566269_c.jpg Just Pretend (slim 18" play doll size comparable to Carpatina and Magic Attic) T-shirt and joggers with elasticated waist and ankles - Very good fit Clicking on the pictures will take you to my Baby Delf album on Flickr where there are more examples of clothing I tried on her. A Passion for Sasha, on Etsy, makes gorgeous Sasha garments but her trousers don't have elastic or belt loops at the waist so will be a tad too loose there. She does nice babycord dungarees in a range of colours however (The twins, Badly and Loosely, have new outfits...), and some short dungarees too, both of which work fine on the Baby Delf body. Ruths Dolls (Ruthsdolls.uk) makes lovely garments and tends to put belt lops at the wiast of her jeans (see under "separates"), but a lot of her stuff it outfits that include shoes so can work out more expensive (but they're real leather shoes and good if you like the style, although tend to be closer to SD than MSD size). My advise it not to get them if they show stitching around the join of the upper to the sole in the photo as those ones have a soft sole tht works on the flat-soled sasha doll foot but not on more realistically shaped BJD soles. The ones that don't show stitching there are hard-soled shoes that are very nice on BJD's. They're made by LisasDolls (Lisas Dolls - Sasha Doll Sandals and Shoes - Page One) Ruth's daughter, but I tend to buy them for my SD sized dolls rather than MSD sized. Sashapotamus (on Etsy) does a nice range of Sasha T-shirt/bodies/onesies (and facemasks!) that you might like. And there are any number of Sasha clothes makers selling on eBay, so you could shop around for trousers with elastic in the waist. EDITED TO ADD: Just needed to point out that Sasha Baby and Sasha Toddler are smaller dolls than Sasha dolls, so don't buy any of their clothes by mistake. Also- some A Girl For All Time dolls clothes are a reasonable fit on Sasha but th few AGFAT dresses I have tried don't seem to translate well to fitting the BabyDelf body... they are a smidge slimmer in the waist than Sasha, however, so trousers might fit the BabyDelf - I don't have any to try. Teddy
@Teddy Thanks so much for the detailed info! I love that green striped top and will definitely be looking into that Etsy. And I came across A Girl For All Time as well but I'm not super into the historical attire so I haven't found any of that that interested me yet. Big babies are probably my current favorite size and I'm considering order a Myou one to go along with my Luts the next time they have a sale again. My girl needs a male friend. >u<
There are lots of makers of modern clothes for AGFAT now too. but, as I said, I've only tired a coouple of historical dresses and they don't fit the Baby Delf body so well. Teddy
To all those that recommend BFC Ink clothing, I wanna give a big THANK YOU cause omg they fit perfectly. I found a couple outfits from a seamstress in that size and am in love. The pants are perfect length too. I'm looking into getting Sasha sized items next!
Received a Sasha sized outfit in and the fit is perfect as well! I'll post pics when I get the chance later. I also have a Hopscotch Hill sized outfit incoming to try. My big baby closet exploded with finding all these similar sized dolls. I'm having a lot of fun clothes shopping. Also based on measurements it looks like Sasha sized shoes may also fit baby delf. Can anyone confirm this?
Does Dollmore, Mokashura and Illua clothes fit? Luts doesn't have a very good selection of clothes for Baby Delf!
So sorry for taking so long to respond - I thought I'd posted this already... My Baby Delf wears regular MSD shoes - the Sasha shoes are a bit longer and a bit looser, even with thick socks. My SD girls can wear them. You could probably get away with them on a Baby Delf if you put thick socks on her and the shoes were a style with an ankle strap or lacings that you could tighten. Sorry, I don't have either of those types of clothes so can't help. Hopefully someone else on this thread will know. EDITED TO ADD: From comparting measurements on the websites though, both those dolls have a smaller waist measurement than Baby Delf. So, anything that fits their waist would proabably be too small/tight on the Baby Delf waist. Teddy
Ok, thank you I currently don't own a Baby Delf or BB sized doll, but I had plans getting one when the Baby Delfs first were released. Got the Baby Delf dress I wanted before the doll and thought it wouldn't take me that long to get a order done. But a lot of other things in the hobby got in the way though I've gotten back to thinking a bit about which sculpt to get when I'm ready oneday. Baby Delf - Daisy or Poppy, and also Telesthesia and Dragon - Gloria or Harry are currently the ones I'll eventually have to pick between. If no other sculpt I like more get released. But as for clothes, I might just end up with one of the ones from Telesthesia and Dragon so that clothes won't be any problem.
I've actually found a lot of clothing options for big babies from various toy line dolls. Sasha and BFC Ink are the best fit. Some Wellie Wishers items work but WW are shorter than a big baby so things like pants may be more of capris. Some slim 18" doll clothes such as Magic Attic can work but it's a little oversized. Makes for adorable oversized sweaters. But one thing to note about all of these is I have not tried any company made clothing for any of these toy line dolls. I've only purchased handmade items in these various sizes. As for actual BJD sizes, big babies can wear a lot of standard MSD stuff. I have a couple standard MSD Volks sets that fit perfect. Or SD10-SD13 items can sometime fit. Shirts may be long in the torso as well as sleeves and pants legs, but with a little modification it can work. Crop tops in that size fit surprisingly well.
It’s been awhile, and I thought I’d show off all 3 of my BabyDelfs playing together in their genie palace. There’s the genie twins of course, Zahara and Azhara (Luts Gabriel sculpts with limited company Azhar faceups) and their little sister, Fable, a deerling (Luts limited Baby Delf Daisy Elf in tan skin with a faceup by me.) I love these girls so much!
@PoeticSoul Your girls are so pretty! I've admired from afar the Baby Delfs for such a long time now and your girls are so tempting me. And I love the Luts Gabriel sculpt so much too! I'm glad to see the different skin tones as pretty much I was debating between which skin tone to pick for my first. But now I feel like I want all three. Hahahaha. Thanks for sharing!
My little Wynnie is really going hard into the boho/hippie aesthetics, so of course she's my muse for costumes. I'll be taking her to a con next month dressed like this.
More Wynnie spam. I love this doll so much. She's actually my favorite of my crew. Thought I'd show off Baby Delf and Big Baby in general that are less, well, baby. This is an SD outfit. I only had to modify the top to fit since she has no bust. Blue is definitely her color. Spoiler But she can still dress cute! (Sorry for the terrible lighting in this pic.) These are standard msd clothes from Dollheart and Ajumapama. Spoiler And finally I wanted to show off how a Big Baby looks when you dress them a bit older compared to slim msd. Middle is a Kid Delf and right is a Minifee. In this, Wynnie is actually wearing all SD clothes. TTYA SD13 girl pants fit her hips with a little extra room and are obviously very long. The top is Dollmore and again sleeves are long but the bust area fits fine. Shoes are from AC in their normal 1/4 size, which is more standard than slim. Normally inbetween sizes bug me but I actually have a lot of fun finding things that fit my Baby Delf. Spoiler And I actually need to give a big thanks to @Teddy for showing me things in this size before when I asked earlier this year. Really kickstarted my obsession with this size.
@Cap'n I really love how this shows the diversity of a BabyDelf and the looks that can be achieved with them. It’s exciting to see how you’ve dressed your girl to look all different ages here. Very interesting indeed.
/shares more Wynnie when no one is looking Found these cute moccasin-type shoes at a random toy store that had a bin of mostly AG shoes. I believe they're originally from one of those porcelain Native American dolls but the fit is perfect. Vest I made (I do leather crafting) and the "dress" is a random vintage doll top that might be AG sized (no tags) but fits her like a dress. I really need to make her an overly decorated boho bag next...
I don't think it's luck because I seem to find a lot of vintage items that fit big babies well. These chunky cuties are just so easy to clothe!
@Cap'n Those shoes and outfit are so perfect for her! And her hair is absolute perfection as well…it’s an awesome and cohesive overall look!
Thought I'd share some of my thrift store finds. And by that I mean thrift store porcelain dolls with removeable clothes that Wynnie can wear! I've gotten good at eyeing sizes these days. First up is this Christmas outfit. The shoes fit slim 1/4 but the outfit is great for a big baby. Socks were falling apart so I just tossed them. Spoiler And next I have this adorable school girl-esk set that I found today! The shoes fit 1/6 but outfit goes to Wynnie. Leggings were too short so I cut them into stockings. All the rest fit perfect as is and this doll came with a stand so bonus. Spoiler I have one more outfit too but I'm just realizing that I never actually put it on Wynnie yet, oops.
Wynnie got a friend who is her opposite but they're probably the best of friends. Eve is a Rosenlied Mignon. I may have unintentionally created a meme.
Gotta love this dynamic! I too have a "goth one" and "sunshine one" style dolls. Fashion trope characters are my favorites, I like them to have distinct wardrobes. Also thanks for the great casual comparison photo!
Anyone here have a brown or tan baby delf? I really want a tan baby delf some day but can't seem to find many owner pics.
I know @PoeticSoul has the one, and from my scrolling I saw one more. I don't think brown and tan baby delf are very popular. So more of an excuse to need one.
It might be more that Baby Delfs aren't as wildly popular as some other dolls - so, a smaller number of BabyDelfs overall means the proportion of them that are in darker skintones is an even smaller number.# Personally, I like most of the skintones (I don't do whiteskin) but few of the face sculpts. Teddy
It's a shame how big babies aren't very popular in general. Slim MSD pretty much dominate the 1/4 scale side of this hobby, and primarily female at that (I assume due to minifee). At least for US, UK, and Russian collectors from what I've noticed. But I also feel like big babies are more popular among 1/3 collectors due to similar thickness and head size. Now excuse me while I photoshop Luts company photos to try to see how the baby delf sculpts would look in tan/brown. :U
I think I’ve seen a few Light Tan or Tan Baby Delfs on Instagram. I used to have a Delf in Real Skin Brown which was pretty but not very saturated of a tan. I don’t have anyone specific to shell but I would love to have some of Luts’ other resins in my collection! Also still holding out for Baby Centaurs because it would be sooooo cute. Then I would probably do the Light Tan / Tan combo!
I have Luts tan, light tan, brown, peach, white, snow, strawberry, and normal, and they're all really nice colors. (With the exception that tan, but not light tan, turns green. ;u; ) Oh gosh, a baby delf centaur would be adorable and heavy. But imagine that chub! Luts actually did recently reveal they're working on a new Model Delf centaur, or I assume a new one that possibly fits the slender male body? Seems like it's been forever since a Luts centaur release and their latest releases have all been broad shoulder and tiny head adult sculpts, or romance versions of existing heads. I'd be happy with just more elf baby delf heads! And then we can tall about making a baby delf but in 1/3 size. >.>
I'm holding out for the Raphael sculpt from the old Custom House sculpts they now own the rights to. I have teh Raphael Elf in Petite Ai, but would love them to bring it out in Baby Delf size like they have with Gabriel and a couple of others. Teddy
Is that the one with the tiny elf ears? The Raphael face would be adorable as a big baby! I'm more partial to the long, droopy elf ear style and love elf Daisy's ears but she's been long gone since before I got bit by the big baby bug. I know Luts has been focused on the new GSDF line and making new versions of some of their bodies, but baby delf need love too! I also wonder if the event colors they have had with the new tan options and fantasy colors could also apply to baby delf? I don't think I really checked during those events. Violet would be gorgeous in rosey brown.
Yes, and yes. I haven't looked at the skintones as I'm not in the market for another Baby Delf unless they tempt me in with a Raphael. Teddy
Here’s two of my my BabyDelf girls, a Gabriel in Realskin Brown and the Limited Daisy Elf in Tan. I’ve also added a headcap of Lut’s Lavender color too, from my Senior Delf JuHee (just for fun so you can imagine the possibilities.) My Daisy Elf is more than 5 years old and her tan skin shows no sign of any “green” undertones whatsoever, so I’m not sure what that’s all about. I’ve always found Luts dolls to maintain their resin colors extremely well (beyond those problematic examples in the very early days of course.) And I’ve always checked the BabyDelfs whenever Luts is producing their limited fantasy colors (just for curiosity sake, I’ve never actually pulled the trigger although I’d love to!) And they’ve always been available in those colors during the limited time. I’d love to have a BabyDelf in their Mint Blue color…or Rose Brown…or Lavender…or anything! It’s entirely too tempting to be sure! And yeah, Teddy, I entirely hear you about Raphael…I’d fall on that sculpt in the BabyDelf size so fast, my keypad would be smoking!
Perhaps they'll eventully release one at the sime time as fantasy colours are on offer and you can get her in Mint Blue or Rose Brown....and I can get her in a regular brown skintone. Teddy
@PoeticSoul Thank you for the photo and comparison! Happy to know baby delf can be fantasy colors. And I've now had two Luts tan dolls turn green toned on me and I've heard of others that have had that issue with specifically that color as well. It's only been a problem with the original tan from my experience. Currently only have a head in Luts tan and I'm terrified of ever wiping the faceup to see the color he may have turned. His body turned green on me so I sold it a while back.
I am loving this page and considering getting a Luts Baby Delf. Your photos and information have sold me on that doll.
The body is very nice nd some of the more recent head sculpts are adorable - If I'd known they were bringing out a Gabriel I might have held off buying one straight away and giving myself the headache of finding a head I liked better than the one itn came with... Teddy
Oh that Wynnie! So much personality, and I love the way you dress her. She’s amazing and just look at those moccasins! Awesome!
Working on some pants for my little wallflower~ Also I feel like I spam Wynnie here too much. Dress is from a thrifted porcelain doll, floral over shirt is BFC Ink sized, and pants were sewn with a Sasha Doll pattern. Gonna add lace to the bottom of the legs to make them a bit longer.
There's always space for pictures of cuteness, and information about clothes that fit is very useful. Teddy
For me, I’m always up for photos of Wynnie’s cuteness! I so love her retro hippie-esque style! It’s always a delight to catch another glimpse of this adorable little one.
