I think there are enough dolls now in this "SD's child" scale it needs some kind of special name XD Luts Baby Delf measurements Possible clothing sharing - see similar-ish sized doll measurements: Volks DearSD (their discussion thread) Rosenlied Holiday's Child Measurements Dollmore Mokashura measurements (see bottom of page) **************** Luts has pictures of the Baby Delf body on their website, and their first two girls: Daisy and Rose. They are listed as an unlimited release but probably won't be available on the web until after the dollshow they are premiering at here in a few days. I hope they offer the Baby Delfs in the various tan resins they offer for their other lines. I really like Rose!
Adorable giant babys! Both those girls are so beautiful. I adore Daisy's face. I wonder what the pricing for them will be like.
Luts' answer to Volks DearSD is quite adorable! In particular, I love the first, dramatic faceup on Rose. I look forward to their (hopefully) basic release.
I've been wanting to have this kind of doll, chubby minis. And I love Daisy with the Make Up B. But I'm a bit worried, reading from Luts' twitter post, are they having problem with Rosenlied ? Or they're working together with Rosenlied to release Baby Delf ? Just like previously they worked with Cerberus Project and released Delf ? I can't read Korean, so if anyone can enlight me...
Thanks for interest to our BABY DELF. At first, we didn't work with Rosenlied. But they said we did copy their doll. But you can see the table of first write, it's size is different. Even it can't compatibility each head. And we have our joint parts system for easy to make pose and more movement. (You can see picture here - http://www.eluts.com/shop/step1.php?number=9312) So now our develop team of Baby delf have a plan to go to their company and for make sure this misunderstand. We already apply to visit there and we will open all of story about this problem. This is the story.
These Baby Delfs are so adorable! I am in love with Rose in particular. The only thing that bothers me a little is their hands, but then again, they're babies and the hands are really supposed to look like that
I don’t know much neither, but below is what I read on twitter.. For few days lots of Korean customers impeached LUTS on twitter with the copying of Holiday dolls. That is why several artists of Rosenlied mentioned baby delf on twitter and satirically said that they also thought that those sculpts looks like from rosen-lied when they first saw the photo of babydelf. Luts denied the rising issue(copying holiday) and asked rosen-lied to meet with them and wanted to compare the sculpts and size(they used the word “fact-checking” although). Rosen lied answered that that kinds of way(meeting for fact-checking) is unprecedentedly beyond to resolve the conflict. Most of Koreans don’t think luts copied the sculpts. However, they thought that the concept and idea of the brand are quite similar with Holiday dolls and obviously influenced by. Under the Korean copyright law, similarity of just “concept” and “idea” will not be a matter. Luts may knew this and therefore, asked them to meet and check the size. That is why lust are culpable of this issue.
@Nyoon'z Oh thank you so much for your help ! I should admit, that Dollmore's Lusion & Trinity have similar features as well, just different in size. But overall, I don't think it's the exact ~ same dolls. And I think the Baby Delf is a bit chubbier than Holiday ? I wonder if Luts will have a comparison between Baby, Model & Kid Delf. Guess Baby is the chubbiest ahahah... I would love to have both and make them sister~
I wonder if DearSD raised a fuss too...? I had thought of all these lines as going back to the original ball jointed antique dolls. It's not really a new concept for anyone - there have been SD size dolls (and the Lusion/Trinity at the BIG end of scale) styled and jointed to look like those single jointed antique dolls too. There's really only so many ways you can style and joint what's essentially supposed to be a large child. (the Dollmore Mokashura owners have been pretty creative there though) Though I hope Luts continues to think up ways to incorporate posing aids while maintaining the aesthetics - I like what they've done with their other lines there. Can you tell us the preferred eye size for the new girls?
@Sarako My exact thought, honestly... because everyone is having this peanut joints, and now it's back to the concept of ball joints... but I think maybe the size that makes people comparing to each other ? I wonder if people also talking about this when Volks release DearSD, but perhaps... this happens because they're big & famous Korean companies ? Anyway, I really love both Luts and Rosenlied, I hope they will have a nice chat about this and solved everything in friendly way. I can't wait to see more photos from owners that get the Baby Delf at Shanghai event. I will be waiting for comparison photo as well, ah the agony...
Why does this kind of drama have to happen every time doll companies decide to go in similar directions with their new release doll sculpts? It happened originally with Volks and the appearance of other BJD brands, pear-shaped dolls, and now "baby" SDs. When a particular aesthetic becomes popular with collectors, multiple companies will capitalize on this interest. You can't corner a market in doll body-shape.:/ Anyway, the more I look at Rose, the more I love her! I guess I'll have to start saving.
Pretty much my thoughts too. I like this newly popular size, and I'm more likely to be able to get a body this size for an existing (Volks) head from Luts than waiting for the DearSD bodies to be come easily available, AND having some choice of companies is a good thing - especially when it comes to there being a variety of clothes available for them, so hopefully a few more companies will expand their range into this size too. Teddy
I am sorry for this interruption, but I'm a staff of Rosen lied and on behalf of the company, I would like to add little details to prevent any misunderstanding that might have been caused. First of all, to be clear, Rosen Lied never made any official comments about babydelf saying that it is a copy of Holiday doll. Luts and Rosen Lied both received many contacts from BJD owners from Korea and also owners from worldwide about babydelf. Many owners are giving several opinions to both companies and also showing their opinions enthusiastically through sns. Thus, this matter got bigger and Luts contacted Rosenlied's official twitter that they would like to meet us. This matter is still in process and I wish for the best outcome for both Luts and RosenLied.
I think it's certainly good to be aware of what's going on, and on DoA/in the English speaking parts of the BJD community, the conversations happening in other communities can pass by without notice simply because of the language barrier. I do think we've seen the trend happen before in the BJD community where a new size crops up and people do have very strong opinions! I am really excited to see comparison photos with pretty much anything haha. I'd like to see how Baby Delf does look with the other SD's-child scale dolls just to see if they look nicely with one another as complements and not out of scale (I am very picky about scale in my own collection), but it would be really cute to see Baby Delfs with the Delf/Senior Delf/SSDF lines and I imagine those pictures will arrive first XD edit: and added the Mokashura to the table for comparison of body measurements/eyeing clothes swaps! Looks like dresses might work depending on the cut of the dress style, since Mokashura hips are rather larger.
I am not sure whether or not this conversation is and will be gently processed. Because lots of holiday doll's fans are quite angry about not only this issue but also the response of Luts! and more strongly blame them for copy of holiday dolls. I saw the several photos of detail sculpts and thought that style of them are really similar. General opinion also consider this as the copying of styles even in the detail parts. If this conversation finish in a moderate way, It will be an exceptional in the industry.
I suppose fans will be fans. They will make accusatory comparison photos, rant, rave, kick and scream, point fingers, and harass. But, in the end, the only ones who get to decide whether the dolls are released are the companies. And, in the majority - if not all the historic cases - the drama eventually blew over and it was back to people who loved the dolls peacefully sharing and discussing them. Personally, I'm not going to bother keeping up with the drama in Korea. It is an unnecessary stress. Instead, I will look forward to Luts' release of their lovely new line!
Iv'e always wanted a Bjd that was Msd sized but had the features of a large baby! She looks so precious and I would love to buy her with an outfit similar to the ones in the photo. Now the hard part is deciding if I should cave and get a baby delf or a volks girl... So many choices...
They have not only copied just the doll size. (1/4 body in 1/3 heads are introduced by Rosen Lied Holiday Child's line) Well the size eventually all companies will have this size given Holiday's child popularity. But Baby Delf copied the mold features, the ball joints, and even the makeup style. Sorry to say but LUTS is one priate company. They seems to be always copying these days. It's another type of recast seriously! When it comes to art & design, it's not acceptable to copy other ppl's work & idea. I would not support this type of company. Guys, if you really like this baby delf idea, get a Holiday's Child from Rosen Lied. If you also own dolls from other company love their sculpt, think about how much time the sculpter put to make your doll's head The best thing to appreciate their effort and show your support is not to buy recast / copy cats
All due respect, but i just don't see the similarity. There is nothing about the rosenlied sculpts that i find remotely appealing. In contrast I really enjoy the sculpting of the luts faces and the body sculpt and engineering. I think it's rather telling that people are singling out Luts but are making no mention of Volks Dear SD which are much more aesthetically similar to the baby delfs.
I think we have to hear the final result of the meeting from Luts & Rosen Lied in this matter. Here, hoping everything will be smooth. @LiNi Thank you so much for your explanation as well. I wish both of Rosen Lied & Luts all the best on the meeting, hope everything will be solved in a friendly manner. @Sarako Thanks for the measurement comparison ! @Nyoon'z I see the similarity, but then.. we have to add Dollmore's Lusion & Trinity, cause they also bear some resemblance. It just the Dollmore dolls are bigger/taller. @kkjeanne Whoah.. calm down, Dear.. Please do not accuse Luts that fast, as you might want to see other dolls that released before Holiday's Child. Just because Dollmore Lusion & Trinity are bigger than Holiday, it doesn't mean they don't look a like. For your information, I'm sure there's people that like this kind of doll, whether Baby Delf or DearSD, they also love Holiday's Child. And since it's limited release, it's harder to get those dolls. I've been trying to get Bambi & Bebe, but it's sold out really fast. Be it the limited or the basic limited doll. So, let's wait for the final result between Rosen Lied & Luts, shall we ?
Not say the sculpt of every doll in the lines ar copying, but if you put two together they will look similar definitely. If you compare again the sculpt details, ball joints and faceup technique/style, it is not hard to see the similarity. Ppl can continue to think they ar original. But if you were to look at Luts lists of dolls, you might able to recognize dolls so similar to ones you own / other doll company. To me, yes they had changed the sculpt a bit and you could say some improvement. But that does not justify their copying of idea. But if the result (the improved sculpt) is only what one is focused, then yeah get the doll. But if you enjoy this doll's joints and makeup style, dont forget it was signature of another doll company Sorry, I just read your response here. I don't mean to start arguemnts or anything i feel it is another type of "recast" (for me)...because I am also on waiting TO BUY my first Rosen Lied doll and so I have been studying a lot of their pictures recently so i feel really pissed because this is not the first time they also copied my darling Lati & Kinoko Juice anyhow, I will shushhhhh for now
Beyond them being the same basic size and concept, neither do I. I'm hoping that other companies will jump onto the bandwaggon of releasing dolls in this size too, but doubtless they'd also be accused of copying Holidays Child simply because they did this size first. You might as well accuse Rosenleid of copying Custom House because they marketed (briefly) a doll of around this size some years before Holiday's Child was introduced - and I'd think that accusation just as silly. When it comes down to it, there are only so many variations that can be made - there are many similarities between different companies models if you look at any size of BJD. It doesn't mean they are copies of each other's dolls, just that there's a limit to the variations within any given size range. If people really want to, they can find similarities between any two dolls of the same size. In most of the cases I've seen they look, to me, like nothing more than general resemblences, rather than the direct copying that they are being pointed out as. Teddy
When I just saw the body of the Baby Delf, I do feel shock. It just likes the Rosenlied Holiday’s Child. In detail, they do have different in measurement but it can't tell it have nothing relevant to Holiday's Child. I think Luts is looking at RosenLied Body and then make their own body. Luts have improve the ball-joint and have slight modification on the body shape. Here is the body comparison of different MSD size body with SD size Head doll. Other than Luts, each company's body has their own characteristic. When Volks DearSD and XAGA "Holiday Size" doll released, there are no such argue. It is because Volks and XAGA are clearly creating their OWN BODY. You can clearly see their company style on the doll. For Baby Delf, I just fell VERY DISAPPOINTED. I know that perhaps there are no action can be taken to due with this plagiarism and Luts will keep selling the Bady Delf Doll Line. But I still hope Luts can DESIGN their own BADY DELF body and stop selling the current body anymore. Actually, I am happy to see more "MSD size body + SD size head" doll released. If this line is become more popular, I can meet more friends and share the joy of playing the dolls. When XAGA and Volks releasing their new line doll, I feel so excited! But For Luts................... I just feel disappointed. For those who would like to have such size doll, please visit the following site first. Please support the company which are really making their own doll and having their own style. I do admit my first reaction was a slight confusion, because I had a feeling I have seen "this" before. But I honestly can't believe such a well known company as Luts would ever consciously JUST copy other company's design. It is the IDEA that is simmilar, but because many doll brands have recently answered to this new size demand on the market, it was a matter of time, this happened. Somehow when Luts and other companies released DD/anime style dolls, there wasn't such a fuss and rage around the community. Come one people, let companies solve the issue first. If they end up with an agreement, what is the point in throwing accusations? Who likes Rosenlied will go there, who likes Luts, will buy at Luts'.
Hoo boy, as I guessed, I am getting serious deja vu from the line of conversations going on in this thread! I suppose history is doomed to repeat itself for companies that are late adopters of a new doll aesthetic. Agreed, @Teddy. Also agreed, @Asatee. Anyway, Luts has posted their release event for the Baby Delf line! 15% off the total price, which isn't too shabby! I'm debating on whether to jump on the event quickly to try and snag a free carrier. Loving the faceup on NS Rose, though the price is a little staggering. Anyone have any recent experience with Luts' faceups? Are they true to the company photos or more/less vibrant in real life?
It reminds me of the old Alice in Labyrinth doll body, though it's a much smaller doll: Alice in Labyrinth
And I think in turn most of them were inspired by Koitsukihime's art dolls (which are supposed to invoke that antique doll vibe as well) - very rounded ball joints! I haven't ordered a Luts faceup but I think they usually turn out very well - if you ask in the Kid Delf thread you may get some recent feedback! The 15% off is very nice, but the full price isn't too bad either for a blank doll of that size. With that Duo package, I kind of wish you could get an open eye and a closed/dreaming eye of the same sculpt, but I'm one who doesn't enjoy floating heads for different characters. A floating head for the same character somehow makes sense to me though haha!
Ah it's so tempting. I'll be patiently waiting for owners' photos.... I'm still waiting for Luts & Rosen Lied's words after their meeting tho.
Sadly they aren't including the body alone in the event (they haven't even added a price for it to the details) and, nice as the heads are, they aren't for me and I already have a head I want to put on this body. Given the 15% off price, it might be worth my while to jump in and buy a full doll, but I don't want to be stuck with another unwanted head - been there, done that, not had much luck selling them on. Teddy
Possibly, but don't the split rules say the one organizing it has to be the one taking the head (or, at least, the more expensive part of the item)....? Teddy
@Teddy Yes, agree with CathyM, since the body will be more expensive than the head, I'm sure that applies to the rule. Anyone from DoA attended the Shanghai event & got this cutie pie ? Please share~~
I actually didn't realize the duo package was just a body and both head sculpts until you pointed this out! That is pretty weird. I guess I had just assumed it was a discount if you ordered two full dolls (which I've seen other companies offer before). @Teddy, good luck with your split! I know what you mean about those unwanted floating heads. What head do you plan to hybrid with the body?
I had no idea that so many companies had jumped on this bandwagon! I have only handled the Volks DearSD (which I LOVE) but I really like the vintage look of the Luts jointing. It is too bad the body isn't included in the into sale, but it's logical. Doesn't look like they will be very costly even at full price though.
Kujo is my absolute favorite sculpt! I actually have two of the buggers (both girls). The Kujo head + baby Delf body will be adorable. EDIT: Placed my order for NS Rose! Got it in within 30min of the event start, so hoping that nets me one of the free carriers (and, if so, crossing my fingers it will be a pink one)! Though, that is the last time I am going to order anything at the very start of a company event; the first time I tried to place my order, the doll and her extra hands hopped out of my shopping cart while I was filling in my shipping info! I think it was because they were still updating the order pages.:P
I think so - I can't resist that Kujo smile (I love smiley sculpts) and think it would work great as a little sister. Two Kujos - how fab. Fingers crossed for getting the pink carrier too! Teddy
Yeah, ok. I'm looking at the Rosen Lied and Baby Delf side by side. Could someone please point out a similarity that is NOT the round ball joint? Because oh my gosh guys, no one has ever thought of using a round ball for a joint in a BALL JOINTED doll before. It MUST be copying. Maybe I've just been in this hobby too long. Because when I started... that's what most dolls had. The "peanut" style joint nearly everyone is using today was just making its first appearances back then. Is it the faces? Let's see... big eyes... chubby cheeks.. button nose.... pouty lips... I think I just described every "kid" doll on the market. All right, It's gotta be the torso then, right? Nope. Completely different shape and joint there. Guess I'm convinced. Clearly, we must boycott Luts.
{LAUGH!!!} You are a Sarcasm God and I bow before your powers. Hopefully, I'll end up with a doll with the Baby Delf body, but I honestly don't mind whether it's a Baby Delf, a Rosenleid, a DearSD or whatever, it's a nice body of this size that I want and the more comanies that jump on this Bandwaggon, the more choice/availablity/chance-of-getting-one there will be. Teddy
Isn't it ball joint was started from bisque doll? This style is already released from Lusion Doll and sprit doll. and every company have their bone structure. So i think it's just personal taste about which company's doll can make me like them and fit me. Anyway, i want to many companies make this size doll more. Volks released this size doll but i don't know Japanese... Well, large variety of choice is always good to me. (Even sometimes it makes me very hard to choice, haha) P.S : I'm looking forward to LUTS's new body's movability.
I'd love to have one But I'll be waiting for more sculpts to be released first! I'm also hoping Luts will at least release them in brown skin.
@manabusama The bottom of the listings for the girls says that they will be adding the brown and tan skins at some point (not sure if it'll be this ordering period or if they are going to do sample pictures and thus it might take longer?) but that's what I'm excited for too. Luts' resin colors are so pretty and I love that they have their tan shades so readily available! I think I have other dolls in line that need to come home first before nabbing a Baby Delf but I am eager to see owner pictures and plenty of comparisons with SD size dolls
@Sarako Oh hehe, I did not notice! That's good It probably will be a while before I decide to order though. I keep falling in love with new BJD sculpts all the time Choosing which doll on my wishlist I should prioritize next is always very difficult!
I'm waiting for more sculpts to show up for this line, because I'd definitely get one! I'm not really a big fan of MSD size dolls, even handled one before I got my first SD, but BDF are the right size of small for me (if that makes sense). I've heard about Rosenlied's Holiday Child, but they're all limited dolls and I have such bad luck with events ahaha so I'm glad LUTS made a similar line that isn't limited, so saving up for one won't be as hard. @Kimchi Congratulations on getting your BDF! Make sure you share pics of her when she's home ^_^
First of all, I agree with Alalaire, the idea that lust copied from rosen lied it's completely ridiculous. Both rosen lied and luts went with the same type and style for a doll, it doesn't mean they are identical as much as a different anime bjd from various companies are not identical. As fo for the baby delf themselves, surprisingly, I like them a lot. Giant toddler dolls have never been my thing, but this is an exception. Unfortunately, it seems to me they are going to be top heavy. I wish luts will make vinyl version of them, but it probably won't happen.
Well, I gave up hoping for a split partner to take the head and ordered one. It means getting head I don't want, but I'll hope to sell that on once it arrives. Now the waiting begins Teddy
Too bad about not finding a split partner, but at least you'll get the body without having to wait for the next preorder period! I think my girl is still a month and a half out from being finished. ETA was 2mos, and Luts is generally very good about keeping to their estimates. The new pics Luts has posted of the BDFs in the new clothing sets is keeping me excited for getting my girl home! I have to say, as well, the more I look at the BDFs, the more I prefer the aesthetic over Volks DearSD (which I think are adorable, too, but practically unobtainable!).
Shame about that, since it's a Volks head I want the body for, but most of my dolls are hybrids anyway. Teddy
I think hybrids can actually be more fun than a whole doll from one company. I'm really curious to find out what size outfits will fit the BDFs. I admit I haven't paid any attention to the measurements (should probably go back and look at those), but I'm hoping they're closer to 1/3-size width-wise; I have way more 1/3 clothes than 1/4 clothes.
I'm hoping the same thing - I have some lovely dresses sized for Sasha dolls (aboutu the same width as 1/3 BJD but MSD height) that I'm hoping my new girl can wear. Teddy
If their bodies are anything like the Rosenlied Holiday Children, then they are more like large MSD size wise. I'm curious to see them, too
Going off the measurements, it looks like the chest and feet are Volks MSD girl size while the waist is Volks SD girl size. Hips and shoulders are in between. Probably will be a case of try lots of clothes on to see what fits and make alterations if necessary.
they are soo cute, I want one in the future, I like the body a lot, chubbier than Rosenlied for sure.
The new versions of Daisy and Rose Luts has released are super cute! Slightly tempted to nab one of those outfits, but I think I'll wait until my girl is home to see if she fits anything I have here. I'm about a month or two out from a shipping notice (depends on how long Luts continues to be backlogged).
The Sleeping Girl set would fit right in with how I the rest of the resin family... I'll have to see if I can get around to making her something similar. No idea when mine will ship if they're backlogged, It said 35-45 working days so I was assuming just after New Year. But if they're backlogged... Teddy
