Lumedoll Mature Mini discussion Part 1

My two will be going to Redmaiko for face ups this week. She is finishing another for me first. Since they are small she said she can work on both alternating between them to get them both done. Good thing she lives so close by, and my daughter-in-law.

 

Congratulations! Sounds like you'll have them back before Christmas.

 

I hope so. I am anxious to get them and others here done. Seems I can't stop adding blank heads here.

I found at Blue Blood Doll right here in USA a couple of pairs of boots that fit the boys and the girls. The girls are brown and the boys black. BBD told me they hope to have more shoes and boots in the new year. I will update any new additions in my album on Flickr. Here is link to Blue Blood Doll.

@animemom - Great find! I rather like those brown boots for my elf boy. They look smaller than the black boots, however. Do they fit your boy?

 

If you mean the ones the girl is wearing no. Boys feet are .5 cm bigger and her feet just make it in boots with socks.
I should take a photo with the full doll view and boots, but they are headless for at least another week.

 

Thanks for the prompt reply. But phooey, because I would really really like those for my elf. Hmm, I wonder if they'd fit any of my other hard-to-fit minis.

 

The girls boots measure
Height : 7cm Outside length: 6.3cm Inside length: 5-5.7cm

Outside width: 2.4cm Inside width: 2.2cm
So not sure how you can get boys feet in there. I am thinking Eva needs to make sub feet. Feet we can use just for small fitting boots. LOL

 

It doesn't sound like they will work for any of my guys, but some of my girls could wear them with socks.

 

Yes, the boy will be more small end of the MSD shoe range. I have found some great boots, but I do wish I could find knee high ones.

 

Just sent Eva the balance I owed on my boy version of Meissa. Depending on how well my Christmas goes, I can start layaway on a Mira. Then will see what new ones Eva creates. I figure my guy will be after holidays, and Mira around February. Redmaiko is working on my Tyl and Rana. They should be done by Christmas. So anxious to find time to make my girl a dress. But need my desktop computer to be fixed first.

@animemom - Congrats! Wow, it sounds like you are buying every sculpt Eva has done in this size. Is she working on new sculpts, do you know?

 

Not every sculpt. I was told she is going to work on new stuff like new faces and such. But until she posts what it is and has photos not sure when or what.

 

My Alice Collection order arrived and I am thrilled how well everything fits. I bought my boys leather like pants, my girls lovely dresses and shoes. Photos later.

I bought white dresses so I could stain them in colors. Would food dye be okay to use if I soak them like over night? Dyes are to messy and I worry I won't do well health wise with the dyes. Figured food coloring better and safer. If anyone has done food coloring on fabric please let me know what you used besides the coloring. Water, vinegar, or just straight coloring.

I had them in general album, but then gave them their own.

 

I can't help with the dye question because I've never tried to do it--like you said, too messy. Also, if you mix up a packet of dye to use for one small outfit, what do you do with the rest of it?

I do like the way the clothes fit. Did you order MSD size?

 

Yes, I was careful looking at measurements esp with shoes. They had another pair I thought of getting, but wanted the two girls to kind of match as will be sisters of a sort.

 

My Lumedoll Mira, Parker. Her shirt is from sashapotumus on Etsy. Her jeans are from Raw Kiss, also an Etsy shop. They are Minifee sized. Baggy but allows her to sit. Shoes are from DDE and are MSD Jinny shoes.

 

Cool! It's good to know those shoes fit. I've almost bought them several times but wondered if they would fit anyone. Of course, I don't have a Lumedoll girl yet.

 

These the flats. I doubt the boots would as the toe most likely narrows to much.

Well just got my sixth Lumedoll, my fourth boy, and he will be last seeing as Lumedoll won't be making these any more after the 15 th of this month. As of May 15 th Eva is going to stop taking preorders. You might see them offered on eBay, but not for sure. I know she wants to create something entirely new, so if anyone was on fence the clock is ticking.

 

Meet Noah, named after Trevor Noah.

He is Atik in the bronze skin. He needs a wig and a shirt animal themed. Otherwise he is set.

 

Man, if she really is shutting it down on the 15th that changes my schedule in a big way.

@animemom your Atik looks great! I keep coming back to that sculpt. He's so unique.

 

She has dolls on eBay. So not sure if she will continue doing that or totally stop. She has a Atik in ebony last time I looked.

 

I kinda wish you hadn't told me that, because now I have to decide if I want to try doing my first resin faceup during midwest summer or wait...

Edit: Aaaand that's my fun money done with for a while. No time like the present to improve my faceup skills I guess.

 

Eva only charges $40 to do a face up. Plus think of fact she's in Florida. Our summers are hot, but she's got summer like weather most of the year. The dolls on eBay are ready to go I think so you could have it fast.

 

That's true, Florida has high humidity all year round, and her work doesn't seem to suffer for it. Of course, that's because she knows what she's doing.

 

In addition to which she's probably working in an air-conditioned environment. From what I hear, everyone has AC in Florida.

 

I wouldn't have it any other way. I prefer colder temperatures then hot.

 

Just got my latest order from TTYA. The shirts fit like always, but this time around I opted to get some pants.

The yellow pants with patches on knees; comes in other colors too. These fit and my girl can sit down, but her behind does show a bit. So no behind photos.

Are so tight. They fit, but no sitting, just standing possible and will be hard to get off. Both pants my girl didn't wear underwear.

Last but not least these jeans fit the boys, a little big on girls. But they are so well made, like all TTYA stuff. These jeans are a bit more then the others they make but the others are low riders, so be aware underwear might show.

I saw the post upthread yesterday about these guys being done on the 15th and had a bit of an "Oh sh*t!" moment as I'm considering shelling one of my guys as a Meissa boy and the final date had come and gone (and I've got nothing in my dolly funds account but dust and tumbleweeds *sigh*). I emailed Eva to ask if she was discontinuing the line (which would've been highly disappointing) and she answered back this morning that the line wasn't being discontinued, it was just the current order period that was finished.

Whew! Thought I'd share the news in case anybody else had wanted to order but couldn't. Not sure when the next order period will be (I didn't ask as it couldn't happen for me until at least... October at the very earliest).

 

Oh see that was my error. I thought she was going to start on something new, so she was ending these. Good to know.

 

Big sigh of relief from me, too. I was hoping it was only the end of the current order period. Glad to know that's all it was.

 

I've long admired the Meissa sculpt but had no idea who he was. Now, he may be a new character that's popped up in a story as I think he has the right delicate look especially when paired with the SD Vito boy who's the other main (who needs a body to go with the awesome head I have *sigh*). I'm still waffling a little but at least I do have time to make up my mind, which is a relief even if my wallet isn't so thrilled *laughs*.

 

I haven't seen a Soul Doll Vito, but get measurements of both as it could look odd the two together.

 

I asked in the photo reference thread for pics of a Vito with an Idelian51, DC boy on the K-12 body and a Lume mini. Because DoA peeps are awesome, somebody was able to provide me a pic of 3 of the 4 together (the DC boy wasn't in the shot).

For my purposes, the character I'm attempting to shell is a very slight, delicate looking guy. The contenders right now are between the DC and the Lume boy (the K-12 body is taller than the Lume boy by roughly 4.5cm but the head sculpts of DC that fit on that body are less mature looking to me than the Lume sculpts). The other character, I already have his head (SD Vito Azreal skull head) and the ID51 was more for overall reference for me as I have an ID51 (who's partnered with a Vito Rail, which I haven't purchased yet because dolly funds are dry right now *sigh*).

If somebody wanted similar sizes between the pairing, the Vito and Lume mini would not really work. But since they're supposed to be pretty different in body size/shape, it works for me and my purposes. If someone was looking for a Vito with a significantly shorter male partner that was more in-scale with each other, Iple JID looks pretty good (the top of the JID head comes to roughly the top of the Vito shoulder).

 

Good to know, but since I am thinning down, no adding unplanned ones.

@Iron_Dog - I also have a Soul Vito, Idealian51 and Lumedoll Meissa. (No DC, sorry.) In descending height for comparison, back row left to right: Soul Vito, Idealian51, FID, Soul Kid, Model Delf; front row left to right: JID, Lumedoll Meissa, WithDoll, Dollmore Dollpire.


I think your main issue will be head size. Vito, Idealian51, Soul Kid, Model Delf and WithDoll are 6-7, Lume and FID are 5-6, JID and Dollpire are 7-8.

Thanks @animemom - I made the elf costumes. (I explain the discrepancy in their head sizes by saying they're from different races of elves.) Everything else was purchased except for the top my Model Delf is wearing, which I made.

@vermont chick : sorry for the delayed response. I didn't get a notification *frowns*. I like the look of the Lume Meissa with the Vito as the Lume boy is supposed to look fairly small and delicate next to the Vito.

Another quick question if you don't mind, what size of eyes are you using in your Lume boy? The Lume site says he takes 6mm. I'd like to get him eyes without whites and saw a pair of 8mm I really like but they're not offered in a smaller size. His entire eye being taken up by the colour is my objective but in your opinion, would an 8mm be too large to sit properly in his eye well (i.e. is it a deep or shallow well)?

 

I'm pretty sure he's wearing 6mm--the iris is too small to be anything else. I think you could fit an 8mm in the eye well. I can't check easily--the inside of the head is quite small, there's a large S-hook and an excess amount of elastic nested in there. I took it all apart once when I painted him but I haven't had the heart to do it again. Even though I replaced the S-hook with a smaller one, it's still really crowded in there.

I don't always get notification of responses, either. Some glitch in the system, I guess...

 

@vermont chick Thank you for the info and thanks for the pic previously. it was very helpful. My Lume Lights have their heads crammed full of elastic+hook so I get where you're coming from. I guess it's a thing for the Lume dolls? Once I got the eyes in my boys (they wear 4mm I think), its a total nope on changing them as it's just too much of a PITA.

Hmmm. So now I need to decide on whether I want to take the chance on the 8mm (which wouldn't work for any of my other guys in case they didn't sit right) or play it safe and continue my hunt in the 6mm category. There's only the one pair of the eyes I like available so.... I wish I wasn't such an orderly person at times since this doll purchase (the doll, not the eyes) wouldn't happen until maybe Xmas at the earliest if the dolly gods favour me and my bank account. The wig I want for this guy is also limited so if I want it, I need to grab it now *head desk*.

Thanks! Meissa happily gave up his wig so Lucia could wear it. He has a new short wig from Luts, which didn't fit the FID guy I bought it for. It's like musical chairs, but with wigs.

Thanks, making a couple of coloured wigs before deciding then I can make the decision of the eye colour and tattoos. Got him mostly for his legsHe stands super well and all his poses are... rockstar-ish? Sassy? Yall know lol

 

My Atik is slowly coming together. He even has shoes now! Though I had to sacrifice two needles-- next time I'll have to either invest in a tiny awl to punch holes with or try just gluing the leather instead.

I tried my Delta's lamb fur wig on him for a lark and he outright stole it, so I guess it's his now. It suits his "perpetually looks like he's just rolled out of bed" aesthetic.

It was a total bear to get his hand to stay up there long enough for a pic. He desperately needs to be sueded, but I'm just...so lazy...

Lumedoll posted on their website the last preorder dates. Not sure if it means then no more or if she'll just space the orders farther apart. She has started the new project, but no photos yet.

 

I dunno if it still applies, but when I asked her about... 2 months ago if the wording of final order meant gone forever, she replied that it was just for that order period. If you check through past FB postings about "final" orders for dolls it seems to be the language used and not the final as in discontinued term. Somebody would need to confirm this though to be 100% sure.

 

The 1/4 line is being retired, according to her website, so Final really is the last sale, disappearing in 2 weeks and then gone. It looks like this was the last size she had going. A smaller (30cm?) line disappeared; she also discontinued a larger size. There's no explanation on the website, just a link to the Giddeous Project of articulated figures.
