While I realize it would probably be rude to ask Eva why she's discontinuing the line, I'm almost tempted to ask anyway. They're such gorgeous dolls (and I have total bias here since I own 2). They also look great with the Soom fairies and unless you're pairing another fairy with them, you can have some difficulties finding them a suitable partner.
I am also very sad to hear the discontinuation of this size Out of all my dolls, I love my tiny Lumedolls most as exquisite works of art^^ Here are my Koit and Arine commiserating over the ending of the line: Koit is an older doll in 'suntan realskin'; Arine is newer in urethane tan.
They're lovely Saba! They really do look like they're consoling each other. Look who's back! And he wants to give everyone candy. Faceup v2.0 came out amazing, in my opinion. I'm super thrilled with this, and I think his re-done faceup might even look better than the original one. Also, I got a new macro lens for my camera, and Liam is the perfect 'macro' subject. Liam And The Cherry Creme Heart by SapphireStargazer, on Flickr
Thank you! Do you mean Arine's wig? It is a Parabox 4 inch wig, PW27-SHS_DB (Darkest Brown). Unfortunately I don't think they have that style in stock at the moment. Koit's wig is also Parabox, but I have trimmed it SapphireStargazer Liam's face up is amazing, such detail in his tiny goatee, I love it!
Thank you! My mind is blown by the detail in his goatee too. The artist who painted him has a real talent for this sort of thing, I think. As for wigs, I've pretty much decided Liam isn't going to have one, as I think he looks better with no hair. Now, if only I could get his head cap to stay on his head, I'd be happy. Does anyone else have this problem of the head cap not fitting properly?
SapphireStargazer- that seems to be a common problem with these dolls. My Elin, Yumiko, has a silicone wig cap under her wig to make her head cap stay put, and my Koit Elf came with some super sticky eye putty like stuff holding the back of his head cap down. BTW I think that girl would make a great companion for Liam! I've sold enough OT fashion dolls online to pay for one of the two Lumes I want to get while I still have a chance to order them. Now to pay for the second as well....
Both my boys are second hand so I can't speak of new from Lume, but their head caps are touchy in staying on. Dolf (Blaze) has the touchier cap but they'll both come off pretty easy. I think the magnet in the head cap isn't as strong as it should be to hold the cap in place well.
I use double sided craft tape to keep the headcaps attached, as my dolls don't have face ups so I don't have to worry about accidentally removing sealant when I remove the tape.
Leo Pheonix, congrats on getting up enough funds for one of the dolls you want. That's a big deal. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can get enough for the other one as well. Yeah...putty in the head. Liam came with some clear silicone stuck onto the tab of his headcap too, but I scraped it all out before I realized that it wasn't just a packaging safety feature. I may have to replace it, because I'm not crazy about the way his headcap slides to one side all the time, particularly since he's going to be 'officially' bald. haha Dollmore Cossette has been in and out of my cart four or five times. I swear I am going to buy one before this year is over. It's just too bad that she's off-topic for DoA because I'll never be able to share pictures of her unless she's with Liam or one of my other on-topic dolls. (Not that Liam would object lol. He'd be like, "Look at my gorgeous arm candy =D") Iron_Dog, I'd say 'touchy' is a good way to describe the fit of Liam's headcap too, and I think you may be right about the magnets. Saba, that's a great solution for dolls with no faceups who also wear wigs. Before Liam got his faceup, I thought he was going to wear a wig, and I had an itty-bitty silicone wig cap to help his headcap stay on.
jwsmith Its so sad isn't it. I'm lining myself up to order a couple of dolls before they are discontinued. Would you mind posting a pic or two of your tan Elin? I can't seem to find any pics of her in this skin anywhere and I'd love to see it, particularly with her dragon :P
Hi Sapphire you may want to ask a mod but I think cossette is on topic because they changed the ruling on the 16" dollmore FMD girls to be on topic http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php/575919-Re-evaluation-of-Dollmore-16-quot-quot-Fashion-quot-Dolls-topicality and in the same post it says "Please note that the 12" line of "FMD" dolls they produce have some that are made of ABS/PVC (the "Basic Gem"). These are still off-topic.The resin 32cm/12" dolls ("Kidult" or "Cute" lines on the Dollmore website) are on-topic, but where a sculpt is made in both versions, ONLY the resin version can be on-topic." Wiki also says off topic "Dollmore ABS/PVC dolls, including non-resin dolls in the FMD, Basic Gem, Kidult and Cute lines (resin dolls may be on topic)"
Not quite finished, but Mr. Evergreen has new clothes- tan karate by Leo Pheonix, on Flickr[/IMG]
I've just had an email from Eva to say my Kiran and Elf Koit are on their way home (They've been on layaway since November)
That's great news!! I still don't know if I'll be able to get another, as I've just ordered a Souldoll Lully (also being discontinued). I'm looking forward to seeing yours when they arrive, though! oooh congrats!! That's awesome!! So, today my office was closed and I was off work due to yet MORE snow. I spent part of the day sorting my bead stash which includes a random assortment of 1mm and 1.5mm irregular glass. I made Liam a tiny bracelet! Liam's Bracelet by SapphireStargazer, on Flickr
I recently acquired a cute little doll furniture set from Ikea. Here are some of the pieces with my Lumelights: link gone. I even like the cardboard cut outs that come as part of the box
Not too late, it'll just involve more patience. I got both my Lume's (a Koit and Blaze) through the MP here. They do pop up on occasion.
Finaly two weeks ago I've got my Mrak. He is Lumedoll Blaze. Mrak by Katharina Nameless, on Flickr And now Galinda is not alone ane more. DSC_0210[1] by Katharina Nameless, on Flickr
I was really lucky to be able to adopt a Lucas recently! He came with an adorable hakama set, but I'm not 100% positive I want him to keep that look. Being Grey Skin, I might take him in a more fantasy direction. I'd love to be able to get a matching little lady for him eventually.
My new duo- Kit, a ebony Helena and Hei, a tan Lucas. They could both use more clothes, neither have a face-up, but at least they have hair!
This thread has been super quiet, hasn't it? I took this picture to show a friend how tiny Liam is. His face could be completely covered by a two dollar coin. Tiny Liam Is Tiny by Sapphire, on Flickr
Oh that's so cute!!! We should do more pics like this. So good to see your Liam again. My poor boy needs to be re-strung. I took him apart for some reason or another...its been so long now... So sad these little ones aren't being made anymore. I want more of them.
@mdonline03 - Thanks! I need to restring Liam too. He's getting quite floppy. And I agree...it's sad these guys aren't being made any more. I would've liked at least one more of the boys. I keep watching for them on the MP though.
I know I wanted at least a little friend for my poor Murphy. He tries to fit in with the action figures but they won't have him. I at least have a little Hana on order from Rosen Garden so maybe she'll be nice to him. Lol. And yeah...I try to stay away from the MP...ugh, I start getting too many new ideas! Anyway here's an old picture of Murphy...just to keep the thread alive. I wish I could find more vintage 60s Ken clothes for him since that's his style but hey, I'm not complaining. So lucky to have the little scamp. Edit: oops...didn't know this was so big. Sorry.
Not to be an enabler or anything but Eva posted a few of these guys for sale from her personal collection a few days ago in the MP. Dunno if any are still there.... I got a new wig for Dolf yesterday and the fit is good (it's a Monique in size 4 from Facets) and the colour is perfect (auburn) but... he looks like a drag queen that stopped getting into full regalia mid-way through the process *sigh*. The style is totally NOT for him. I wanted a wig that I could pull back into a stubby ponytail as that's how he wears his hair but this is not the wig for that.
@mdonline - that is a great look for Murphy! Sometimes on eBay you can score some vintage Ken clothes. I've seen them sold in lots by collectors quite often. And Liam says he feels Murphy's pain. Other than the few YoSD size dolls I have, the only dolls around here that are his size are John Smith and Pocahontas, and they are only really interested in each other. I'm planning on an FMD12 Cosette from Dollmore, so when she arrives, at least Liam will have a friend his own size. @Iron_Dog - haha everyone's an enabler at one point or another in this hobby. Wigs are such a challenge for these guys. The size 4 Monique wig I originally had for Liam fit him beautifully too, but once he had his faceup, it was obvious he was not going to look good in that wig any more (he looked like a little Ted Neeley in Jesus Christ Superstar lol). have you thought about modifying a wig for Dolf? some of the Monique wigs could definitely be pulled into a ponytail, and they could be trimmed to the length you want.
Yeah, that's the plan now. Dolf's hair style is somewhat like Bowie's from his Ziggy Stardust days. I thought I could pull the new wig back into a ponytail, and I can do that, but it just looks totally weird and the hair lays in an odd way with it pulled back. I'm going to order another wig from Facets as well as a silicone wig cap (Dolf has loose headcap syndrome *rolls eyes*) for him. I'll likely wait a bit though as I got a surprise doll (Soom Boehm) who also wears the rare size of 4 in wigs and he'll need a wig, too, so I might as well order them both at the same time to save on shipping even though they're just coming from the US. I'm just waiting on some info about wig colour for the new guy. I'd also like to get wigs for the twins (RS Bao's) but DollNorth is in like 5 weeks and I may see/find something there (Elena of Spite & Malice attends every year) and their wig size, while small-ish (5.5) isn't a crazy hard size to find like these tiny scraps of hair in size 4. Although, finding the size 3 wigs that my Dragonlings take... that was a challenge and a half. They have wigs now (also from Facets) but I need to mod them a tiny bit to fit around their ears and dye them the right colour. I have to say that I'm really pleased with the selection and fast delivery time of the wigs I bought from Facets. I'm sure we are all very aware of the difficulty of finding size 4 wigs for these guys that aren't childish. Facets is definitely worth checking out if you're in need of a tiny wig.
@Iron_Dog - yeah, Facets was my go-to site until I realized I had a much better chance of finding - and getting - what I wanted if I ordered from Monique Trading directly. Now, that's what I do, as their shipping is just as quick as Facets. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting on a wig order from Monique right now for some of the big resin folks. ForMyDoll also has size 3 wigs if you're looking for super tiny ones in fantasy colours. They don't have size 4 though, for some reason. As for Monique wigs that can be pulled into a ponytail and still look good, I highly recommend "Pretty Girl" and "Ginger" I have both types, although in larger sizes than size 4, and both pull back really nicely. Aubrey (IMPL Tony) and Reid (Souldoll Vito Lester) both routinely wear their hair pulled back and I frequently braid Aubrey's hair as well. "Pretty Girl" is a straight wig and "Ginger" is a curly one.
I can go either way with whom I purchase from as long as I get what I want. I bought a size 5 wig direct from Monique and was pleased with not only the wig but the service as well. Facets is a bit easier to search for specific sizes than the Monigue site (unless I'm missing a function/button that allows you to search by size, which is entirely possible). I figured that I'd need to go with the Pretty Girl wig and cut it to the length I need, which is fine. I just wish I'd thought to ask if the wig I purchased would pull back into a ponytail nicely before purchasing *sigh*. Hindsight, it is 20/20. In the mean time, I may take the clippers to the wig I made Dolf to reduce the pouffiness of it (it's rabbit fur) as I don't anticipate placing another order at either Facets or Monique for several weeks at least. New guy who needs a wig won't be home until early November so it's not a pressing thing for him and I most certainly want to order all that I need at once to save on shipping regardless of where I buy from. Our dollar sucks & blows right now, as I know you're aware of and we gotta save where we can, right?
Oh why did you mention that there were some little ones floating around on the MP? I will not look, I will not look...I'm gonna look. Meanwhile I know what you mean about the trickiness of wigs for these guys. Poor Murphy just looks like he's wearing a wig - a bad toupee. So for now he "shaves his head bald." I think I also just haven't found the right style/colour combo. I love Monique wigs and just got in a batch for my other dolls...so feeling a little guilty that I didn't pick up one for him. And yeah, for a while I was really scouring eBay for mint Ken clothes from the 60s. Im not one to poo poo costs but man some stuff was ridiculous because there was a big stain or tear or something else wrong with it. If I was a Barbie collector then maybe but I just wanted some clothes that fit the poor guy lol. Now off to the MP...
Ummm, because I'm a dolly enabler? Sorry? it's a tricky balancing act to get the wigs to look right on these guys as they are so tiny and it doesn't take much to have the wig overpower the doll. Gunari (Koit modded to have dragon legs & feet) is easy enough as his wig is bright lime green and I made it out of faux fur because it suits his character to have hair like that. Clothes... that's another tough fitting issue. Gunari is on the older slim body and he can wear all kinds of ready-made stuff, which is ironic as he doesn't wear much beyond a kilt. Dolf, on the other hand, needs regular clothes but because he's on the V2 muscle body, finding stuff to fit him is much harder. The dolls, they'll drive you crazy.
mdonline03 I second the "shouldn't look, should't look- then dashes off to look". There's s Lume who I haven't figured out how to fit int the current total group home already... Two of my Lumes are wearing Monique wigs, one has a Parabox wig, and one has a "Shaggies" one from DDE.
I hope, Eve will return to creation the dolls of this format sometime. They are wonderful! I not so often photograph my Lucas, but it still one of my favourite dolls.
Wow _Owl_, he looks great! At least my Lucas has hair and shoes, even if he has barely any clothes and no face-up.
Thank you ! Oh, a creation of an image is a long process. I am glad you move to the planned purpose! I will look at your Lucas's photo with pleasure ). Maybe this information could be useful for you: the clothes from action figures can well suit Lucas. For example, ACI Toys 1/6 Military Sweater The trousers on this photo (if I am not mistaken), from outfit Ken Twilight. The boots have been lost in that wood
I don't know whether anyone mentioned them before but Xagadoll makes some cute looking 27cm girls and boys. I was definitely planning a boy for myself. @_Owl_ I'm so sorry to hear about your doll's boots! I hope you can find them. And if not that you can replace them with something better!
@_Owl_ your guy looks great! I have some clothes from ACI for Liam (Blaze) too. They fit really well. Stuff from Magic Cube is also pretty good. Liam had a little outdoor adventure today: Liam's Softer Side by Sapphire, on Flickr
pinkittycat, Xagadoll's 27 cm BJD's look lovely and young (maybe Lumedoll's guys are little older than them). They are pleasant to me too ). Oh, the boots remained in the wood. There was a lot of grass, a moss and the big territory for search. But, probably, the boots were useful to some fantastic forest elf)). And for Loukas I have bought other footwear. SapphireStargaze, thank you! I like Liam! The image is doughty and romantic at the same time.
I see not much activity on this thread, but I just traded for this gorgeous guy and just wanted to know a bit more about him. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him. I believe he's a Koif?
Elf Koit. Can't help much with resin colour though. I have a human Koit although he is actually my half-dragon and wears dragon feet/lower legs.
He's pretty white, I'll admit I'd only heard of this company but never looked at their dolls before. My friend brought him over today and told me he was sale, then we traded dolls. I really loved him from first sight, his size, his dainty face. I love how he fits Ken doll stuff.
I think even the normal tone is fairly light (Gunari is normal, I think) but I can't compare as Dolf (Blaze) is in zombie skin. Eva does an amazing job with her sculpts and I really hope she decides to come back to this size at some point. Finding mature tinies is not the easiest task.
Parabox sizes can be a little unreliable. I ordered two size 4 for my first Lume girl and one fit well, and the other was too small.
Lumelights are such solid posers! They are both wearing Parabox 4 inch wigs here: Koit and Arine say hi^^
I finally got around to restringing little Liam. He's also been having lots of adventures lately, and he recently got his own Instagram too. (You can find him @extra_large_adventures if you want to follow him) He went to Sullivan's Pond last weekend, and it looks like he's hosting his own travel show or something here: Liam's Beach Day...Sort Of by Sapphire, on Flickr
I think this is one of the slower moving threads I'm subscribed to. I'm still here but life has decided to dog-pile me *sigh*.
same, tbh ^^ Not exactly a fan of Real Life™ right now I need to break out the actual camera so I can take some decent shots of this guy. He seems to enjoy hanging out near the tree Candy Canes! by Sapphire, on Flickr
I get the happy-fun-time job of becoming the executor of my brother's estate after he passed away suddenly without a will. Not only does he live a bit more than 1400km from me, he was also an organized hoarder who owned properties, vehicles, professional grade welding equipment, the list sort of goes on and on. Very little of the stuff he had can actually be straight up tossed out (once the courts appoint me as executor) since he typically only bought quality goods. Doll stuff has taken a necessary back seat to Real Life over the last few weeks. And despite you not using a "real" camera, you still take some pretty awesome pics. That little toque is adorable on Liam. Where did you get the clothes for him if you don't mind me asking? I have a devil of a time finding decently fitting clothes for Dolf (he's on the muscle body).
