Lumedoll 30cm discussion part 1

mdonline03, it's not just the clothing but the accessories as well. Since they are approximately the same size as 1/6 scale fashion dolls, a lot of the props and items are easy to get as well. Liam now has a tiny iPhone (which he stole from Ken) a travel mug for his 'coffee' and a cute pair of 1980s style shades. He seems to want a car, specifically this car. He may get one eventually.

Congrats on finding some shoes honestrabbit! I looked at some stuff from RubyRed Galleria as well, but nothing much there seemed to be Liam's style. I saw some cute girl shoes though. Looking forward to seeing some photos of the ones you got!


I've contacted the artist who I want to commission to paint Liam's faceup. Just waiting to hear back from her on that, and then he'll be off for his 'makeover'

Liam is way too hip…and you're so right about the accessories. I thought I loved my SDs but I think 1/6 is way more amusing. And I love the car! Liam needs it! I'm hoping to find a bicycle for my Murphy.

mdonline03 I agree with you re. the fun factor of this scale- I have mostly SD and am having so much fun with my lumelights I second Iron_Dog's request about overalls, Murphy is awesome- love his scarf^^

Arine is wearing Barbie and a Ken beanie- Hikaru has a Bratz boyz singlet on, with Barbie headphones and Ken jeans. All their props are borrowed from Barbie (except the bean bag, which is a phone holder).

 

Thank you mdonline03! I agree... I do love my big dolls, but there's much fun to be had with really tiny mature dolls.
Liam may get a car like that some day, but he needs a few other things first (like shoes...and a faceup). I've gotten an email back from the artist and she's willing to work on him, so...yay! She's going to paint my Souldoll Lester as well, so Liam will have a 'travelling buddy' as they're both going at the same time.
Murphy looks so adorable in those overalls! Are they the Newline Miniatures ones? As for bicycles, I've seen a few appropriately-sized ones around, but it seems that they're mostly pink... Might make a fun repaint project, though.

Saba, the room looks great and of course Hikaru and Arine are adorable! I just love doll dioramas and room sets like that. They look right at home in there.

 

Thanks everyone……I love those overalls too. SapphireStargazer, yes they are by Newline miniatures. I've been looking at those Barbie bikes and I'm thinking I may need to take a spray can to one of them. I think it would be fun to customize.

Saba & Iron_Dog - I bought the overalls at Cotswold Collections, both them and Monkey Depot have them or had them. The scarf is also Newline.

Meanwhile Murphy will also be heading out to the "spa" next week - exciting…to see these new beauties come back all painted up but then again they look awesome as is.

Saba - I love the room and Hikaru & Arine are so adorable hanging out! I really want to get a little set up going. What did you use to build the room?

 

Newline has some awesome, realistic clothes for the smaller guys. I went to the site and saw so much that Dolf would wear. Fortunately for my wallet, everything Dolf needs was out of stock. But thanks for the recc for them for suitable clothes. I'll be keeping on eye on when they re-stock.

mdonline I look forward to seeing Murphy's new look- I still can't decide if I want to get my guys face up'ed or not...it's a hard choice! Their room is just a cube in my bookshelf:

 

Iron_Dog, one thing though…the western shirt I got form Newline was rather baggy and the collar was pretty loose. So it would make a better jacket than shirt but I think once it's all tucked in it probably wouldn't be so bad but a little "blousy". I figured with overalls, they should be baggy. I'm still going to try some other stuff by them & other similar co's because it's so cool.
Saba - I think that's great idea to us a shelf in your bookcase. Time for book case shopping...

 

Do you have the slim or muscle body for your guy? I have both and there most certainly is a difference in them. The one who'd be wearing the Newline clothes is on the muscle body, BTW. I've tried various Ken pieces on him and it's a no-go however, they fit okay for the most part on the slim body. Naturally, the guy with the slim body can't wear normal pants due to his dragon legs but he can wear the shirts/tops.

 

Iron_Dog, I have the slim body...sooo I bet the muscle body would fit. I totally forgo you had the muscle body too.

 

Cool. Hopefully poor Dolf can get some new clothes in the not-so-distant future.

Couple quick questions - did you get your items from Magic Cube a while ago or recently? I of course ran off to check out the website and they have great stuff. It doesn't look like its been kept current though, so just curious before I crack open my wallet. Also the wigs look great they look custom or did you buy them somewhere?

 

Saba, I made a huge roomset for my 70cm dolls in the back corner of my office, which I leave up all the time. My dog has taken over their bed, but the dolls don't mind and are willing to share. I have a large shelf dedicated just to my dolly stuff. I was kind of thinking about making a little "bachelor flat" for Liam on one shelf and just leaving it up all the time. (Of course, Liam insists he's not going to be a bachelor forever...lol) I think it'd be fun to build a little apartment set for him the way I did with the big dolls' room, finding furniture and items here and there. It'd be like an ongoing project.

Takhisis, your two look great! What resin colour is the darker one?

 

mdonline I bought both outfits in the last 2 - 3 months, and they were via uk stockists here & here not direct from magic cube. Fits are ok, Arines top & coat are a little large & sleeves are a touch long, her boots are also x large but you can't really tell. Blaze is muscle version, pants & T-shirt fit great, track top is a little large in the shoulders which makes the sleeves long, the set also had moulded plastic trainers they fit ok to, but he is wearing the same ones as in post 85 even though you can't see them. Wigs are homemade tibetan lambskin.
SapphireStargazer Arine is bronze as far as I know as that was she was listed as on the MP.
Both outfits are really detailed, the tiny zips all work and I think are good value compared to the clothes made specifically for bjd.

Like you I wanted to be able to keep it up and just change the scenes when the mood takes me. I would prefer the squares were a bit larger to be honest, but it would do at a pinch! Unfortunately I found out after I bought it, that these cubes use formaldehyde in their chipboard which is not good for your health, so...outside it goes for storage^^;; Luckily it was inexpensive so no big deal. However I wanted to post a pic of it so you can see the layout- I like the idea of different settings as opposed to rooms of a house- Hikaru is at the beach doing some lifesaving^^ whereas Arine (who is still nameless!) is just relaxing with pizza

I love the concept of room sets. I didn't even think about that I was so focused on having a more formal home situation. But the room sets allow for flexibility like you said Saba. I like that! And your dolls look so cute hanging out….bummer about the formaldehyde.

I'm hoping to have a living area set up in the next couple months for little Murphy & trying not to get too carried away with shopping for "stuff".

I'm very tempted by the latest preorder. Does anyone have photos of a male lumedoll with either male or female minigem/faery legend? Ideally they wouldn't be wearing too many clothes so I can get a feel for how the bodies compare but even looking at the scale of the faces would help.

 

I have Lume dolls (muscle & slim body) and a boy fairy from Soom. Pics together would need to wait until tonight (my time) as it's early morning where I am and I'll be at work all day.

I'm really tempted by the mini Zero, OT for DoA, but I just love that guy because his face is pretty much the way I see everybody's face (I'm face-blind) and it's kinda awesome to me. Unfortunately, I'm also currently out of doll funds *sigh* and if I did have the cash, it would be going to a doll that I've wanted to bring home for like 1.5 years. I am a little sad to see that the Koit sculpt is being retired (I have one).

 

Photos of your 3 boys together would be awesome. I'm really torn at the moment especially as shipping from the US to europe is so pricey for a small doll (not from lumedoll specifically, just in general). What I'd really like is both Elf Koit and Kiran though....

 

I don't know if everyone's aware but four of the Lumelights are being discontinued. I am going to order a Koit Elf even though the timing is bad, because I love that face and have gotten quite attached to the character I created for him.

 

I ordered Fionn during the last order period. I'm glad I did it when I did, because there's now way I'd be able to get the money together during this one!

 

Liam is at the faceup artist now. I just got a message from the artist and she's planning to work on him next week. I'm very excited to see him all painted.

The discontinued ones are Koit, Koit Elf, Fionn and Mini Zero, for anyone who doesn't know.

I really want an Elin. I'm very tempted, but at least she's not one of the discontinued ones, and there will be other order periods.

 

Okay, I took some pictures of Sleet (my Soom Auber Storm Sprite) and Dolf (Blaze, muscle body). Photobucket has "improved" their interface and I've no idea where they've hidden the button that allows you to re-size from the giant pic they now give you to something manageable *grumbles*. I apologize for that.

I have found that when I stand them side-by-side, Sleet is much taller than Dolf, but Sleet also permanently wears the fairy feet and that adds quite a bit to his height. I'd assume that if you kept the human feet on the fairy boy of choice, the height difference wouldn't be so bad. Seated, they're nearly the same height with the Soom doll being a touch taller. Proportions seem almost identical between them. I didn't put Gunari (Koit w/modded Soom Alk feet) into the shots as with his modded lower legs/feet, he's even shorter than a Lume Light by about... 1.5cm, which is quite a bit in dolls this size.

 

Thanks so much - that's exactly what I wanted to see. I really like the look of them together so now I have to decide whether I can put both Kiran and Elf Koit on layaway and save shipping or whether I should order just Koit through Think Pink. Decisions!

aahhh you guys! I got preview pics from the artist of my little Liam's new face, and he looks AWESOME! She was even able to paint his tiny teeth. *dies of teh happy* She just needs to finish the gloss on his lips and then he'll be ready to come home. heeheee.... I'm soooo happy that my little soldier will be home in time for Christmas.

What body type is he? Clothes for modern Ken fit the slim body really well, and GI Joe clothes fit too.

Wow! I love these dolls. I just got a kiran off the marketpace and painted him last night. Ordered some wigs from monique, and ordered a tan Elin!! Yayayaya!!

 

SapphireStargazer - I have the slim body on my Koit. He was an in stock doll so I got him for 215.00
I also bought a kiran on the muscle body from the marketplace and omg I'm in luv. He's soooo awesome.
I painted him and waiting on wigs then I'll post pics.

 

I received my wigs but they are too big . I bought size 4/5 from monique - gold wigs. They are huge.
Maybe I will try ordering size 4?

 

Same thing happened with me too. I bought, 3/4, 4, and 4/5. The 4 will fit.

 

I'll second that. Liam's wig is a Monique wig as well. The style is "James" and the size is 4. Size 3/4 wigs also fit if they have a stretchy wig cap. I've got a couple of Glib 3/4 wigs here that fit nicely.

jwsmith, your Kiran is certainly a manly little guy! I do love that muscular body. Is it taller than the slim body, or is that just the way they're positioned in that pic? As for wigs, you might need a silicone wig cap with a straight size 4 wig (as opposed to a 3/4). I had to get one for Liam because the size 4 wig was slipping around just a little. The wig cap keeps it in place nicely.


So, I ordered some tactical boots for Liam from ACI toys. He's also getting some in-scale 1:6 dogtags and the tiniest little cans of beer. Also his BDUs are making their way home through the mail. Hopefully they'll fit! As for Liam himself, he started his homeward journey from the faceup artist on Wednesday, so I'm expecting him to arrive late next week, fingers crossed. He looks awesome and I can hardly wait to show him off to you guys.

 

Ohh what boots did you get? I want to order some too. That sounds so cute dogtags and cans of beer! Can't wait to see your guy with his new faceup!

[MENTION=39847]jwsmith[/MENTION] I got a pair of boots from ACI toys. They arrived yesterday and they're absolutely useless for Liam. They already have "feet" in them, which was totally not shown in the sales photos. It turns out they're the type of boots for action figures with "peg" legs, where you change shoes by changing the entire foot. The foot inserts are built right into the boot and can't come out. I'm back to square one on military boots. My little soldier is still barefoot.


My other Liam-related news is that he still isn't back from his faceup. The artist sent him out last Tuesday and the tracking number she gave me didn't work for either of us, so we didn't know where he was. This artist is a super nice lady and did A LOT of legwork contacting USPS (dealing with their automated service and being on hold for real people for ages) to figure out why this package wasn't showing up on tracking. The package was finally found in New York on this Tuesday, so I'm hoping it won't be much longer before Liam makes his way home. I'm getting a little worried about this, but I won't panic yet.

 

SapphireStargazer that's a bummer about the boots! But I can totally commiserate…I wish there was some indication of whether the shoes are for peg feet, have pegs in them or fit real feet. I hope your little soldier gets his boots!

I'm also waiting for my Murphy (Koit elf) to come back from his face up holiday. I've gotten a little preview of his sailor tattoo and it's the cutest thing ever.

[MENTION=63054]mdonline03[/MENTION], I'm kind of hoping G.I. Joe boots might fit him, as I ordered him an ERDL camo outfit made for Joe which includes weapons and a pair of boots. At least I know G.I. Joe has actual feet and not pegs. I've also measured his feet and I figure that Dollmore Banji shoes might fit him. They've got a pair of shiny black boots he might like. I also found him some actual in-scale 1:6 dogtags (not the humongous G.I. Joe ones!) and a mossy oak camo ensemble and some perfect little 1:6 cans of Budweiser. All that stuff cleared Customs on Friday, so I expect it this week. and the GOOD NEWS is that Liam has also cleared Customs on Friday and should be home some time this week too, with any luck. I have 1000x gratitude for the artist who has been pestering USPS over this whole tracking issue.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Murphy when he gets back, too. The sailor tattoo sounds way interesting! hehe so we're going to have a sailor and a soldier in here soon.

 

I've got a pair of Dollmore boots in "Anfan Rose Red" that are loose on my Elin in a "Kingdom Hearts" style- wider at the toe than the heel. The "Anfan fri" ones might be a different shape. I'd love to know! And anything specifically marked just as Banji sized will not fit. Banji feet are only slightly bigger than Puki Puki feet.

 

Liam is back!!!

After what has felt like the longest wait ever (mostly due to the epic failings of USPS), my little soldier man has found his way home! I'm so happy with his faceup, which was done by the awesomely talented IzabethS. hahaha Liam used to have a wig, but when I put it on him this afternoon I decided that he really looks better bald. With the wig, he kind of reminded me of Ted Neeley in Jesus Christ Superstar. If he does get another wig, it'll have to be a fairly short one, I think.

Anyway...have some Liam spam. His bear is called General Fuzzypants (and he is also a super badass action figure, just like Liam )

@Leo Pheonix, it's one of the "anfan fri" style of boots that I was looking at for him, and I may order them for him anyway since my friend and I are doing a fairly significant Dollmore order soon anyway. Even if they're a little big, he can wear socks. On the Dollmore site it lists them as being for IDoll, the 12" FMD dolls and Banji. If they turn out too small for him, one of my tinies can wear them.

 

OMG…Liam is so adorable in his camo stuff!!!! - it really looks amazing. How do you like the fit for him? It looks like it fits really well. General Fuzzypants…lol…Love them!

 

Thanks!! This camo outfit is from Magic Cube toys and it fits him pretty well. The pants are just the right length in the legs, although they are a bit loose around the waist...but the belt fixed that. The little hat is a bit smaller than I'd like for him. It stays on his head, though, so no real complaints.

That's such sad news

 

I'm hoping that she'll still have a 30cm line but that there will be new sculpts *crosses fingers*. I love the mature 30cm dolls Eva does (I have a Blaze and Koit).

 

Discontinued?!!! I just gave Soom all my doll money! I've now got motivation to list some of my less used off-topic dolls on ebay. I must have a Lucas and Helena! Although Lucas gets priority... I adore the Elin and Koit elf I have already. I hope you're right Iron_Dog, but the phrasing of the announcement seems to say otherwise. Why is it that almost every line this size and scale gets discontinued? DIM's newest Honey dolls were available for less than a year, all Soom's non limited Mini Gems are sold out and now these are being discontinued too.

 

It's a total bummer to hear about the discontinuation. Maybe maybe they'll return in some other iteration. But finding mature 1/6 that aren't action figures is like a needle in a haystack. I'm all dolled out at the moment but at least we have until May. My Koit elf is lonely...

 

I am so devastated by this news . I just got into this size and I am crazy about it. Eva's dolls are the best in this size too. It is such a great size because there are so many props that go with them where you can make a whole fantasy scene on a shelf or display box with them. I have a cute dragon that is Elin's and they look AMAZING together. WHY WHY BOO HOOO CRY CRY CRY

 

It seems like a lot of dolls are being discontinued this year. First, Illusion Spirit announces the discontinuance of all their current sculpts, then Souldoll discontinues Soul-Sweet, and now these little guys are being discontinued. Judging by the wording of the announcement, it seems like there won't be any more dolls of this size from this artist any time soon, which is disappointing. I'm sure she has good reasons, though. Maybe they aren't selling as well as she'd hoped, or maybe they're just too difficult to produce and the revenue isn't outweighing the production cost. I'm very sad to see them go, but I do respect Eva's choice to discontinue them. I would've liked to get a Kiran and an Elin at some point, but that doesn't look like it's going to be a financial possibility, unfortunately.


On an up note, Liam is finally on the way back home from faceup v2.0
I was really upset about having to send him back to the artist so soon after getting him home, but I honestly think she did a better job on him the second time around, so I'm calmed down quite a lot now. The reason I had to send both Liam and my Souldoll Vito Lester back in the first place is that I'd only had them home for about 2 weeks when their faceups started to flake off. When I contacted the artist, she told me that it was probably too humid when she'd sprayed them outside. This time, they were sprayed in a climate-controlled environment, so hopefully there won't be any more problems. I feel like they've both been gone forever. Can hardly wait to get them back!


Meanwhile, I'm looking at this cute girl as a friend for Liam. She'll be slightly taller than him, I think, but I'm pretty sure he won't mind.
