Loongsoul 1/3 doll discussion Part 4

Jun 30, 2019

    1. @snowle21 I'm actually not sure if there's a difference between A and B sculpts, or if this was just caused by distortion on the images. Kind of seems strange for them to offer two head options for the same release in China, but not for their international release. I was hoping someone here could also read Chinese and would be able to help me check Weibo, since my own Chinese isn't up to the task at all.

      EDIT:
I just heard from my dealer that Onikiri is sadly China only. T__T

Also, there seems to be some fandom drama that went on at Loongsoul's Weibo when they posted that very cool launch video for Onikiri. People started mentioning how overall true to the character Onikiri was, then someone made a comparison to Ringdoll's IP releases so far and expressed concern for Ringdoll's planned release of licensed dolls for the Nezha animated film, and it soon devolved into a mud-slinging war between Loongsoul fans and Ringdoll fans, plus some accounts that I suspect might be paid accounts (what he Chinese call a water army). Loongsoul's long wait times and quality was mentioned at one point, but TBH Ringdoll isn't really any better these days, especially in terms of wait times?

    2. Wow the new doll Onikiri is quite lovely. Loongsoul's attention to detail is always spot on.

    3. I honestly think Ringdoll wait time is way worst than Loongsoul now a day. At least for me, Loongsoul have better customer services. I'm going to keep beating this dead horse until Ringdoll either refund me or give me my heel feet. It been 14 + months now that I'm waiting on Ringdoll to send me my one pair of heel feet. They forgot to send it with my order and till this day I'm still waiting. My dealer been ignored or given it's in progress since Jan of this year. Needless to say I am no longer supporting Ringdoll lol

    4. Yikes! I can't believe you are still waiting on those heel feet! I remember reading about your ongoing saga trying to get them when I was looking into Ringdoll like six months back to decide if I wanted to try purchasing one of their outfits.

At least Loongsoul is fairly predictable in their shipping times. Yes, the wait is longer than most of us would prefer but it tends to be predictably long. I also found communication/accurate update information on my order was real easy to get from them going through a dealer that had someone that spoke the language. I've heard getting responses can take a bit longer though if you try to deal directly with them in a language outside of their native one.

    5. I bought my MinYan full set from Loongsoul because Legend and Alice's Collections had sold out their allotment of full sets. I also ordered an outfit which turned out to be sold out. Loongsoul contacted me and asked I wished to choosr something else. I found their communication to be excellent in resolving the problem.

    6. Yeah Ringdoll saga still going lol. Now is more of trying to get them to cancel the order and just refund me at this point.

At least Loongsoul is trying to make their delivery time better by limiting resin color or some type of solution to help their customers. Their customer service so far been great and they been good at communication back to me.

    7. This is exactly why I kind of been leaning towards Loongsoul. I've heard a lot of good things about them recently. Wait times not so much but in this hobby you kind of have to hunker down for the wait since each doll is a piece of art that shouldn't be rushed.

They have 3 of the dolls I kind of need but sadly two are limited and prob won't see them ever lol but then again I would love more 63cm females for options lol Just the one is kind of iffy right now about "Is she good enough or could I find better" for a proper looking Asian woman. I do know I have my heart set on ZhuZhao. He looks so fit to be an Emperor (who tragically dies for his kingdom XD).

    8. Until last order I made, I had good opinion about LS company.

I made a White Dragon preorder last year, I ordered full set + his human parts. I got my dragon in Aug, also they put a guqin.

But I did not receive human parts, they said it needs more time to produce. And I am still waiting these parts, soon it will be 1 year. I do not understand why they did not cast these human parts, because they made so many orders with human bodies.

About the guqin which was in my order I received, was in broken condition + have some defects. I sent them many pictures.
I waited the answer for 2 weeks, it looked like they were ignoring me.
Finally they answered : they can't remake that for free, and asked to pay again. :vein

So now my opinion fell down about that company.
Of course I will buy some dolls from them if I like someone. I just describe what I don't like, before they were very nice. :|

    9. I ordered my White Dragon through Alice's Collections and l got all the parts. He was shipped in two boxes as there was too much to fit in the doll box.

All cimpanies mess up occasionally but they really should have sent your human parts by now.

    10. My friend had placed an order with them in french yellow but received white instead. When she contacted the company they said the item shipped to her was french yellow but it’s clearly not so she told them she’d put a negative review of her shopping experience with them. They later agreed to exchange the item for her. It’s a bit uncomfortable/harsh to do but if you receive any broken parts or they ignore you when inquiring about the human parts that should have been sent.. maybe try being more firm with them.. ;u; ))

    11. That's so bad to heard. I'm sorry for you. It's just all of my friends had their Ringdoll fullset in less than 6 months. Some even 3 months. But I and other friend who ordered LS dolls took around 9 months for a nude doll. :(

I ordered French yellow but my doll came home in normal yellow skin :(. LS normal yellow is so yellowing compare to the French resin. Which made him standout of my collection in an unpleasant way :(. But when he stands alone he look okay. <3

    12. Speaking of french yellow and french white, does anybody own Loongsoul dolls in both colors and can post a side-by-side comparison? All the Loongsoul boys I've ordered so far are french yellow, because french white seems too stark white for my taste IRL (even though they look perfectly fine in the promotional photos).

    13. I have two imported white guys, MiinYan without body blushing and White Dragon with body blushing. The body blushing softens the bright white nicely. I also have a Helian in imported yellow with body blushing. I would love to take a picture of them together but hubby is sick and it's not likely to happen soon.

    14. @snowle21 so the head in the promo pics is actually head A (the bottom one). But apparently the default they ship to international customers is the adjusted head B. I think when they receive their dolls people will wonder why the face looks completely different from the promo pics.

I think part of head A's charm is the slightly assymetrical cheeks? And you're right about the long, slim faces. They look nice but when all the uncle dolls from Chinese companies have that aesthetic, it starts to get boaring/samey. So I'm also leaning towards head A now. But I'm asking my friends to vote their choices too haha.

@nancy_shroeder now worries. Health comes first after all. I hope your husband recovers soon.

    15. Hi guys, I realize I never posted here before. :) I received my LS ZhuZhao just last week. I ordered him blank, so he still needs a lot of help before he looks presentable. Anyhow, I was beyond surprised to see how pale the imported Normal Yellow resin was. Even though this picture has tons of filtering applied, it could still be seen that it's pretty close to the White resin of my Iplehouse Violet.

    16. That's how LS NY looks, the white (even environmental/imported resin) is pretty stark paper white (like ResinSoul white, if that's helpful) from my Limited experience with it. He looks amazing already though, can't wait to see him all put together!

    17. And that is why all of the Loongsouls I've ordered so far have been imported normal yellow even though some of them looked nice in imported normal white in the promo pics... Depending on the lighting though, the yellow tone does still come out in photos.

By the way, I polled my friends regarding head A or B for Chehou Helian Rongying, and A won by a landslide. He is on order now, and the dealer said 3-4 months to arrive, though I'm expecting longer that that.

Loongsoul just announced a delay for Su Huan Zhen as well. His delivery was moved from August to October, and now it's been delayed even further to December/January. I can understand I suppose, since he is a licensed doll and his outfit and wig and faceup is much more complicated than regular Loongsoul releases. I guess their experience with Su Huan Zhen is why they're projecting one-year timeline for Onikiri's release now.

    18. I'm sure this has already been asked before, but where could I shop for clothes big enough for B-B73-02? I had ordered an outfit with my ZhuZhao but have recently been told it is out of stock.

    19. Has anyone seen the new King Minyan that Loongsoul announced together with their 11/11 sale? He is gorgeous, and with his hair pulled up and wearing a mian guan (that crown with the hanging bead tassels) like that he resembles a Chinese celebrity, though for the life of me I can't recall which one...

I am so, so tempted to order him because it feels like a second chance at owning a fullset Min Yan, but my dealer is actually dissuading me because she says aside from the eyes he looks a lot like my Zhuzhao already lol. My wallet will probably thank me if I don't order though. :mwahaha:mwahaha:mwahaha

    20. I'm curious! Where do you see a King Minyan? Most of the dolls in the sale seem to be the doll only as the fullsets are sold out.

    21. @nancy_schroeder_ca King Min Yan is a new release so he won't be included in the 15% off sale. And they posted the preview pics on Weibo, so I hope you're able to view this:

      Sina Visitor System

    22. Ah! I understand now! Thank you! I can't read any of the text, but the outfit is cool!

    23. @nancy_schroeder_ca I could probably read the text if I made a concentrated effort to and busted out the dictionary for the words I don't know, but I'm too lazy for that. :sweat:sweat:sweat

But for this Mis Yan, they're just releasing him with new fullset clothes. I think the sculpt remains the same as Prince Min Yan.

I browse Weibo every so often to check for promotions or new releases though, since they announce there much more often than they do in the English Facebook page.

      EDIT:
Looks like the King Min Yan is up on Loongsoul's website. And apparently it's Emperor and not King.

Also, now that I'm looking at the blank heads for both Emperor Min Yan and Prince Min Yan, it looks like the Emperor head sculpt has smaller and sharper eyes vs. the Prince head sculpt. Maybe to account for the character's aging?

    24. Emperor MinYan is up on the English site. I bought just the outfit since I already have MinYan.

@fionvarre I see you updated your message also!

    25. @nancy_shroeder_ca Emperor Min Yan sold out in Taobao yesterday. That was fast...

    26. That was fast! Alice's Collections has both sizes still.

    27. I'm pretty sure my local dealer still has her allocation as well. Fingers crossed!

    28. I was very sad about imported resin because I read about how transparent it is, but Ive changed my mind now.

I just came back from a meetup and the imported resin looked amazing in person! He literally looked like he was glowing in the light, like his resin sucked in the light and is radiating instead of reflecting. I have a white LS and CD, but imported white resin looks even brighter than the solid white of those two companies. I wish I took photos, the fullset white dragon looked amazing, and so did his faceup and glittering clothes.

Once my wallet recovers, I might be placing an order because I consider myself a convert now.

I keep seeing the fullsets selling quickly, I wonder if the limited number is very low or that they have strong demand XD Kind of stressful to get short notice for a doll, specially since there arent much teasers on social media until the release date lol

      • x 1
    29. @GreenTeaSlug Welcome to the black hole that is Loongsoul!

The fullsets sell out fast in China. And by fast I mean on the first day of release fast, not just in Loongsoul's taobao, but even with their domestic dealers. But they usually stick around much longer with the international dealers, so no worries there.

    30. Is it only possible to get the Emperor Minyan outfit separately by directly purchasing with Loongsoul? I asked my regular dealer about it and she said they don't sell the outfit by itself.

    31. Legend usually has the outfits, but they don't have this one listed. You could ask them. I ordered it from Loongsoul. I have been pleased with their communication. I added some eyes and one pair was sold out. I got a prompt email asking if I wanted to choose something else or get a refund.

      • x 1
    32. @nancy_schroeder_ca does Loongsoul have separate listings for 73 cm and 80 cm? I could only find 80 cm in the site when I checked.

    33. There is an option to select the size.

    34. Ahh!! I have been so busy with work I never noticed the discontinuation notice!! I was hoping to get a NY XS 68 cm bust piece and 68 cm heeled feet! Am I too late??

    35. I think so but with parts you might check with one of the dealers.

There was an MSD girl I was thinking of that I didn't realize was on the discobtinued list. But I have a lot of confidence that they will make one that I like even better.

    36. To follow up, the 68 cm heeled feet are available, but the 68 xs bust is not. The 68 xxs bust is available, which means I will have to use the age old method of a really good push up bra to make it seem like she has something there when she does not. But she'll have more clothing options now, so this might be for the best.

    37. Options are good!

I got a shipping notice from Alice's Collections! My ZhuZhao has shipped!

      • x 3
    38. My Zhuzhao fullset is finally with my dealer! Just need to see if I can pick it up this coming weekend...

    39. Ugh. Loongsoul is releasing a lot of new dolls only a few weeks apart. Gongsun Ya, Emperor Min Yan, and now a new boy who releases tonight at 7:00 PM China time.

His name is Youzhi, he's a doctor with a backstory of being able to heal others but not himself, and he's from something called the "Chronicles of LongZhong"? Seems to be the same series that Gongsun Ya is from. There's probably a literary reference here, but I'm not familiar enough with Chinese literature aside from the big four classics, so...

    40. Oooh, I wonder if they'll finally have a new fantasy doll with these releases. I've been wanting one of their demon boys forever but they haven't released a new one.

      • x 2
    41. I accidentally got into the Chineese site and there are two new dolls I haven't seen before. A man and a lovely lady!

    42. Well t hat's better for my wallet! I do find Doctor Youzhi interesting. I'll have to think about him.

      • x 1
    43. He is not one of the China only dolls.

    44. Ah, I thought that was one of the dolls you meant since you mentioned his name.

    45. Wow!! I love how the new girl's promo pictures have her with the xxs bust. I used to think it looked weird but on her it seems very delicate and I like how they emphasize it with the plunging neckline.

Does anyone have a picture of a 69 cm girl with the xxs bust on her? I just ordered one and I'm really curious how it looks IRL.

    46. Did you want a picture without cloth on? I don't have one without cloth but can try to take some pictures. Let me know :)

Here is one with cloth on: Instagram . You can find other pictures of her as well in other outfits there.

The XXS is nice and make buying clothes a lot easier. Picture is her wearing a Volks outfit. I personally still want the XS size but Loongsoul only make the XXS bust.

      • x 1
    47. That DOES look really good! Very delicate and natural. Thanks!!

What size is that Volks outfit? SD? I've been struggling to find shirts that fit mine and I like how that fits her.

    48. I bought that once second hand so I'm not sure. Most likely SD13/16 size. My Loongsoul girls can fit any SD size from Volks with medium or larger bust size. It's the bust that get in the way for the Loongsoul small bust lol

My small LS bust girl can fit a DDY outfit but she cant zip it in the back by less than 1 cm. So I think an LS XS should be able to fit DDY perfectly.

      • x 1
    49. @nancy_schroeder_ca I'm curious about the lovely lady. Was that the BiYueWu in alternate outfit?

    50. Oh man, that doctor is incredible looking, though more than anything I want his outfit. That hat! I did see that I could buy the outfit set at least but it doesn't say if it comes with a hat, just "1 x accessory".

I've caught up reading this section of the thread and am glad to see I'm not the only one vaguely disappointed by the company makeup. I have the Kylin YinQi human form and his makeup feels so lackluster. I've actually considered sending him piece by piece as I can afford to my preferred makeup artist for bjds to get him redone.

    51. Has anyone noticed that Loongsoul's faces are becoming more and more realistic with smaller eyes (12mm) on their 69cm and taller dolls? Am I the only one who kinda wants them to go back to having more exaggerated larger eyes (16-18mm) on the bigger dolls?

      • x 1
    52. Personally it is the more realistic look that has drawn me to Loongsoul. Larger eyes might be better for my budget!

      • x 1
    53. @LavenderDemoness

Yeah, I also miss some of their slightly more stylized sculpts. I do think the realistic ones look gorgeous, but they aren't the style that originally drew me to the company and ultimately choose it for my first doll.

    54. ^^^ This!
I have 7 big LS dolls (6 boys and a girl) and they summarily discontinued all the sculpts I was planning to get - the next big doll plan was to order myself an Iman, to hopefully arrive not too long after my birthday, but that's not going to be a thing now :|
I get that companies changing directions and aesthetics, individual artists and sculptors come and go, and the financial pressure to chase a larger (or different) customer base are all coming into play, but none of their new sculpts really speak to me.
I guess my tradition of getting a LS doll for my birthday isn't going to be a thing anymore :sigh

    55. There's also the marketplace where you might find a doll that needs a new home!

    56. I think Loongsoul has the best bodies, in terms of posability and detail, but now I think I'm going to have to go checking around to find a man's head that I really like to hybrid with a loongsoul body. While I'm certain this has been asked before, I'm going to ask again. What other companies have heads that match up really well with loongsoul bodies, specifically the men's 73 cm and 80 cm bodies?

    57. and if I'm really, really lucky, it may even be the resin/color and include the specs I want ;) oh, and shipping might be within what I'm willing to pay

on a different note, I managed to take pictures of Altaïr today (he's a Morgan)

    58. @LavenderDemoness I can go either way TBH. I personally like the realism of the newer Loongsoul releases, particularly since there are more ways to spin a sculpt if an artist goes for realism. The one thing I really like about the newer Loongsoul uncle dolls is that their noses aren't all the same thin and pointy anime-style noses. But I do agree that the older, more stylized sculpts have their place too, and if I get the chance to acquire an older Loongsoul sculpt I'd probably go for it.

Loongsoul isn't the only Chinese company that's moved away from stylized sculpts with bigger eyes and shorter noses. Telesthesia Doll has done the same. Based off the owner pics that both LS and TD share on their Weibo pages, I think the trend towards smaller eyes and more defined facial structures (in China at least) might be because Chinese doll owners love dressing their dolls up in traditional hanfu, and from what you see of the actors and actresses in Chinese historical dramas today, there is also a certain "look" that is considered attractive over there. For men it seems to be long faces with sharp contours, long and shapely noses, a "heroic" brow, deep-set (what i personally like to call brooding) eyes, and thick eyebrows. For women, the ideal face shape is what Chinese call the "goose egg" face, which is a thin V-line face (as opposed to a square face, which is considered too manly for a woman). Big eyes, white skin, slanting "willow brows", and small but plump lips. Which is pretty much... all of Loongsoul's recent new releases from 2017 onwards?

Speaking of new releases, Loongsoul's been on a new release streak these past few months. They've been releasing at least two new dolls every month, and for the 12/12 sale today they actually released two new girl dolls at the same time!
