Loongsoul 1/3 doll discussion Part 4

Jun 30, 2019

    1. @Rococo Doll Im pretty sure they will never change the body, or smooth it down if requested. However, there are many people who offer commissions here that could probably help you with that :)

For their makeup, I am positive they would help you. Are you getting the doll from a dealer? I would ask them, and have them relay the request to LS and see what they have to say about it just to be sure.

      • x 1
    2. Thank you. I think I'm going to get it from a dealer (maybe Alice's Collections). I will ask them to find out from the company if the make-up can be slightly altered. It's also good to know people on here offer commissions. I will check them out.

    3. @Rococo Doll you cant go wrong with Alice Collections :)

If you are US based, theres also BJDIVAS who have exceptional customer service, and great payment plans. I would look them up, Ive always had nothing less than stellar service from them. If the doll you want isnt on the website, just email them the links with the requests, they are super helpful too

I understand what you mean about the body, I love the look of their 62 male body and it poses amazing, but wish it was as tall and as proportioned to their 70+ bodies so it could be hybrid friendly

      • x 1
    4. They just discontinued the B73-01 which was smoother! I am very disappointed!

      • x 1
    5. @Rococo Doll As @GreenTeaSlug has already mentioned, they won't smooth down the body, sadly. While it may be worth asking the dealer about the faceup, I wouldn't hold my breath. They've always been very direct in telling me they won't take custom requests even on occasions I didn't actually want any changes made and just had a faceup related question :sweat

      • x 1
    6. Thanks for the suggestion. I also think the same about the 62 male body. It's not overly muscular and doesn't have any visible veins. :nowords:

Oh no. I was actually going to go for that one because it seemed to be smoother. :(

Thanks for letting me know. Will still ask the dealer if they can do at least the face-up. *crosses fingers* :kitty1

I have also been reading some comments on how French resin tends to yellow over time (although this was an old thread). LoongSoul only offers this type of resin, I think. I wonder if they have improved theirs regarding this issue. :?

Also, the doll I'm interested in only comes in French Yellow or French White. Would one be less prone to yellow than the other?

    7. @Rococo Doll Ive had the same doubts and I think I read the same comments you did when researching the difference lol!

That is outdated now and not true anymore, the good news is that the new french resin seems to be even more resilient to yellowing than the regular resin based on some collector's pictures

The only difference really with french resin is the translucent look of the it (it gives a glowy look) and is somewhat transparent in the thinner areas like ears, and fingertips compared to "regular" solid resin when flashing a light through it. French resin absorbs light, and regular reflects it instead.

Some prefer the look of french, but I personally like the solid resin because I like how faceups and blushing "sits" on the resin. French resin looks a lot more natural because imho, the blushing and faceups "melt" into it, giving it a more natural look.

French resin also has a really nice velvety touch to it, and regular is squeaky smooth without texture.

      • x 2
    8. YunZhongJun is being offered in regular resin too, which was a surprise since I thought Loongsoul had already phased out their regular resin. There seems to be a note for customers that the regular resin might have marbling streaks, and that if customers don't want that they should go for french resin instead?

      • x 2
    9. That's my absolute favorite body! Sounds like a lead sculptor left the company quickly, and not on good terms...

    10. I'm glad the new French resin is more resilient now. I didn't want the doll to turn yellow too soon. :o It's hard to tell which one I would prefer until I see both, but at least now I know I don't have to worry too much about that.

It's true. I just saw that. I wonder why they give you a choice of resin with that particular doll and not the others. Based on what the note says, I would go for French resin instead.

    11. Maybe we should all inquire about the B73-01 body! Maybe we can convince them to bring it back or do a B73-nn with less muscles!

    12. Wow! What a bummer about all the sudden discontinued sculpts! :...(

I always thought I'd be getting a MuChen someday. I guess not, now. :pout:

(Makes me really appreciate the few Loongsoul sculpts I have: Emily, Michelle, and YeFei.)

    13. I asked Alice's Collections to tell Loongsoul that many of us like the B-73-01 body. She said she will talk to them. I will let everyone know if I find out more.

      • x 1
    14. My dealer ordered my Zhuzao with a B73-02 body by default. If I'd realized earlier how distinct the muscle detailing was around the ribcage area, I would've switched to B73-01 too. But is there any difference in the engineering between the two?

And the Chinese site and taobao list french resin as "environmental resin" by the way. I'm not sure if that's because there's no distinction between french and environmental resin in Chinese?

    15. As I understand it, environmental resin is next gen french resin

    16. I keep going back to look at Yun Zhong Jun... :XD: I'll order him once I get a few other layaway orders out of the way. Definitely my favorite Loong Soul guy so far. I'm really tempted to put him on the 80cm body.

    17. I got this answer from Alice's Collections about the discontinued B73-01 body:

      Dear Nancy :),

      Thank you for your patience.
I'm very sorry but LoongSoul said the discontinuation of the body has been confirmed, sorry dear... They said they might open period-order for the body in the future but they're not able to promise now.

Please feel free to contact us for any question.

Wish you a great day n_n

      Best regards,
      A

    18. Does anyone know why Eleven Jr is no longer found on their website? I’ve ordered him as a full set, as well as another doll, but now I’m getting a little worried because he’s disappeared from their website.

    20. They remove the English listing for limited order period dolls. But if you change the site language to Chinese, you should still be able to find them there.

      • x 1
    21. THANK YOU. Yes. That’s the one. As I ordered the Spring Fairy limited GuoMang fullset as well but he’s still on the website I kinda panicked. Thank you.

But see, that’s the thing; I ordered Spring Fairy GouMang as well and even though his sales period was over long before Eleven Jrs’, he’s still visible. Does that mean if they’re visible the fullset is still available?

And thank you for your help :)

    22. There is still a fullset option for GouMang. Some dolls sell out very quickly, others take some time. It's nice to know that sold out dolls are still on the Chinese site. Sometimes you need a picture to dress the doll properly!

      • x 1
    23. Wow. I LOVE the GouMang fullset. I’m surprised there are still fullsets available but Eleven Jr is sold out. Especially as it looks like there were almost double the amount of Jrs as there were GouMangs.

I’m a total newb to Loongsoul. So I apologize in advance for knowing nothing about them. BTW congrats on your Eleven Jr! I put my two on layaway with Fabric and Friends as they were the only ones that actually replied to my questions!

I tried emailing Loongsoul on their website TWICE! I tried messaging them on their Facebook. I tried contacting... gah, Alices Collection I think. I can’t remember. Only Iris responded and let me put both fullsets on layaway. It will be two months this weekend.

    24. A lot of Chinese companies are like that. Unresponsive in all their English channels I mean. So far I've found Angell Studio to be very responsive to inquiries, and Ringdoll can be somewhat laggy, but at least they do respond eventually.

Jeeryama/Clover Singing also responded to my inquiries pretty fast, so you might want to consider her as an additional dealer option.

BTW congratulations on your Eleven Jr. and Goumang! I was considering Eleven Jr. too, but I totally forgot when his order period was supposed to end. :(

Goumang is such a handsome boy, so I'm surprised his fullset stock is still available. My friend mentioned that he kind of resembles Sesshoumaru from Inu Yasha, and that's probably what made me buy him haha.

    25. I actually had a hard time getting Angell Studio to respond but they did apologize and say my messages had somehow ended in the spam folder. It happens so no biggie because I did eventually get my order.

I’m actually currently obsessed with a Chinese drama called the Untamed and Goumang looks EXACTLY (to me at least) like the character/actor Lan Wangji. So I had to have him but no one would tell me if he was still available! I only found him AFTER his sales period and everything (except for the hair) was perfect for the character. And then Eleven Jr came out and I thought he could work for the other main character: Wei Wuxian.

I know Ringdoll came out with versions of both characters but I don’t really care for them (I think they’re based more on the anime) plus I didn’t know about the series until way after their sales dates.

And you have Goumang? I’d love to see pics if you’ve gotten him already!

    26. Alice's Collections and Legend are good at communications.

Most of Loongsoul's dolls have a specified count not a order period although they usually offer a discount for a limited period.

      • x 1

    27. Oh hey, another Untamed fan! I ordered the Ringdoll versions too. In fact, it was Ringdoll's Wei Wuxian that kickstarted my current doll ordering spree (and my wallet is crying because of it). I'm thankful for that, because if not, I would've missed Loongsoul's Su Huan Zhen collab (like the doll on my DP, but uncle sized lol) with Pili Puppet Drama.

I find Goumang a bit too delicate and pretty looking to be Wangji (even Wang Yibo version Wangji), but maybe the right faceup and wig might change that. My Goumang hasn't arrived yet though. Surprisingly it's the Zhuzhao I ordered to shell as Hua Cheng (from Heaven Official's Blessing, Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's book after Mo Dao Zu Shi) that my dealer said would be arriving soon. I ordered Goumang and Zhuzhao together though, so I think she might've forgotten to inform Loongsoul about that order lol.

When I saw Ringdoll's promo pics for their Mo Dao dolls, my initial reaction was "I wish Loongsoul had gotten the license instead". I mean, Ringdoll's are nice in their own way, but there's something about Loongsoul sculpts that make them feel more "real" vs. just generic anime bishonen look, so closer to how I see the characters in my head, if that makes any sense at all?

    28. I agree with you about LS make their doll look more real. RD body is a bit flat to my taste, while LS have more thick and real muscles. I adore how RD do many crossover with other comic and movie brands, but the real doll isn't look like the photo at all, I feel abit off when I see their MO DAO doll in real life. So I think they should focus more on their original dolls rather than chasing the crossover fans (I know it's good for business but they will lost their own taste).

BTW, I just odered a pair of joint hand for my Bai Di, Anyone know how long it takes for a pair of joint hand?

    29. Question for you Loongsoul experts. Would you say their faceups look as nice in person as they do on the website? This is just academic curiosity, of course. :sweat

    30. The two dolls I got from them both came with faceups and to be honest, I hated them both :sweat I absolutely loved them on the company photos but mine weren't anywhere near as delicate and in fact, it upset me so much I couldn't stand to look at them at all for a while and I eventually wiped them. If (let's face it, when) I get another doll from LS, I'm going to get it blank to save myself from that stress. Of course, that was my experience and it may not match that of others! I still absolutely love LS dolls, too.

      • x 2
    31. I personally loves mine but I'm a sucker for default face up from Loongsoul so I may be bias. My God of Flowers look like the face up but didn't at the same time. Not sure how to describe it but I love mine more than the original photo. There were lots of details I didn't see in the photos that mine had. For example, red with gold sheen on her lips and eyes. For my Daughter of Dragon her face up is beautiful and as far as I can tell, look just like the promo pictures.

Of course, I may have been lucky because I have heard not so great stories about them as well! Hopefully my Eleven Jr isn't disappointment because I fell in love with the sculpt and face up.

      • x 1
    32. Some dolls appear to be listed only if you change the language to Chinese. Does that mean they will only sell them in China and not to buyers abroad?

I really love one of their dolls faceup but I'm worried now that it might not look the same if I order it. I'm a newbie to this hobby and I don't know of any faceup artists in my area in case I need one (I live in the UK). Also, I don't know how easy it would be to find clothes for the B-B73-02 body? :aeyepop:

    33. oh no do not trust their face up dear. It's just too light. I recommend you send it to an faceup artist or do it by yourself.

      • x 2
    34. @Alewife
I thought I was unlucky to get a bad faceup from them, but going by the past few replies, it looks like it might be common :( ....

      This is my Fusang
      [IMG]

This is the makeup they advertised
      FuSang(make up type A)_Makeup_Additional Service_LOONG SOUL DOLL

I was really sad to see her like that. The eyebrows are what I loved the most on the fullset, I loved that they looked like floating sakura petals, soft and bright with pink trailing off in the shape of a brow but what I got was two petal outlines done in normal pencil led, and painted pink on the inside which were also not evenly placed on the face.... It wasnt as beautiful as the advertised makeup, I was surprised how the lower lashes were very grainy like it was done quickly with a watercolor pencil...the lips were orange/brown with two black dots on her face, but the advert was a nice bright pink gradient lips with two dark pink dots on the cheek.

I felt like I wasted money, and I hope to one day send it to a faceup artist to make something similar to the sakura petal eyebrows that I loved most. The faceup I got isnt bad, but its not what I fell in love with and hoped to get

The quality of the doll, the posing, the quality and fabric of the clothes to me are the best and worth the money. Their wigs are very nice too! Only thing I was not impressed with was the makeup.

    35. I only have three Loongsoul dolls in house at the moment. MinYan was my first. I ordered white skin because they said the sample was white. I am now quite sure that the sample was yellow skin. His face up was light compared to the pictures.Perhaps thay over compensated for the white skin. I also have Helian Rongying in yellow which is the skin color they showed and I am very happy with him. The last doll is White dragon Beast version! He is white skin as shown in the samples and the faceup looks like the pictures.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but MinYan was ordered without body blushing. I was sorry I didn't get the blushing. Helian and White Dragon have body blushing. White Dragon's body blushing is awesome!

      • x 2
    36. Oh, no. Now I’m worried about my guy’s face ups. I really want the advertised faceup as that is what makes the character for me. If it’s not going to look like the pic and I have to find a faceup artist myself I am going to be so angry and sad. :(

    37. that's a risk with Every. Single. Doll. Company. I've ever encountered in this hobby. Most of my LS dolls came with the default faceups, which have always been nice and I've kept until they chipped and then had them redone by my artist friend. I've immediately wiped faceups/blushing from Ringdoll, Impldoll, Dollzone and Fairyland because, well, what I got was yikes!
From the various replies in this thread it sounds like the main issues with faceups are on the limited dolls that have been done with very particular style, and my guess would be the one artist who painted the doll for the promo pictures can't paint them all and their other artists struggle a bit in mimicking that person's style (which is really what it sounds like happened with @GreenTeaSlug's girl)

      • x 2
    38. I wonder if it's also safer/higher chance of getting what you see in promo pictures if you order in the exact skin tone they advertise?

I'm hoping for the lucky side when I get Eleven Jr :eusa_pray

    39. @Alewife My Quinshu has the most delicate face up. I was so amazed when I got him, his face up looks just like the company pictures. I could be the difference of who the artist is doing the face ups at the time.

      • x 1
    40. Not sure if anyone knows about this but it seems Loongsoul is doing a game collab and releasing the character Onikiri. I haven’t seen they post any news about it on their English site and for future reference am wondering if anyone knows if their collabs are China limited? ;u; ))

    41. I'd actually never come across Loongsoul before Goumang but it does seem to me like their dolls are a bit more human/real while Ringdoll's dolls seem a bit flatter. At least, none of the Ringdoll's dolls I've seen have made me order one but Loongsoul did despite the fact I didn't much care for the body. I was in love enough to overlook that.

I haven't read nor seen any other of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's work but Mo Dao Zu Shi I've watched the anime, read the book and seen the drama. The drama is by far my favorite even if they did have to dial down the BL elements. I feel like Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan managed to convey so much with looks alone that I couldn't help but fall in love.

      • x 1
    42. I've been waiting for Onikiri ever since they released the first promo pics of him a few months back. Sadly his price is a bit too much for my budget at the moment, as the demon hand, demon blade, closed eye head and the Genji crest base will cost extra. Otdering those together with the basic set will bring his total to way beyond what I paid for my Su Huan Zhen, which was also a collab.

And since Pili was an unknown franchise at the time (to the US/International market, as Netflix had not yet released Pili Fantasy:War of Dragons earlier this year), I think there might be a high chance that Onikiri will get a global release too?

@ShadowMist Loongsoul was the first Chinese doll company that I actually liked, since I disliked Dollzone's aesthetic when they came out (much earlier than Loongsoul), and Ringdoll had issues during their early years. I can see how you'd dislike their 68 and 73 cm bodies (those muscles are much too chiseled for some people), but Loongsoul owners here all say they pose like champs, so at least there's that.

And I highly recommend Heaven Official's Blessing! The comic version for that starts this week, and the animation comes out next year. I personally prefer Hua Cheng over Wangji, but people's tastes may vary lol.

    43. Thank you everyone, for your honest reviews and information! It's very helpful. :) I usually get dolls blank because I'm afraid the faceups will be different, but I do love how these guys look on the website. :)

      • x 1
    44. Nope. It's not China exclusive but It'll be very hard to get. It will be sold out real quick because Onimoji is a top treinding game in China. You can check that game character in this link

    45. I'm pretty sure the international dealers will get allocations separate from the China market's allocation. Might be limited, but we probably won't sell out in a day the way China will.

    46. Yup! they will stock it for sure. But they will higher the price for that. And Onikiri already so expensive @_@.

    47. I've been lurking and I'll say Onikiri is a pretty boy! I love the wig he has! I wish there were better pictures of his eyes as well! I've been looking at the Loong soul dolls for quite some time now. I faintly remember why I haven't gotten one was their absurd wait times. How are they currently? Also does anyone have a 28 Stars - Jiao Mu Jiao by chance?

    48. @snowle21

Thank you! They actually opened a server a long while for the country I’m in but closed it a few months ago. I love all their trailers and how they make animated stories for their characters and game promotion but was too afraid to go in because I heard the gacha rates were.. not very friendly (aesthetics wise my personal favorite is Susabi)!

      @fionvarre

Ah I understand! Thank you so much for your kind reply. ☺️❤️ And I haven’t read Heaven’s Blessings yet, I only read mdzs and Scum Villain’s Self Saving System. Still waiting for the company in my country who got the license to translate it, though if counting for all the volumes it might be completed around this time next year.. ;u; )) But I agree with you, the anime of mdzs skips and fast forwards a lot of scenes.. I had to go read the novel and after watching the series, feel the Untamed is easier to understand (also because they had more screen time..) Nevertheless still excited for the comic and animation that’s coming out! >////< ))

Sorry for taking out the quotes, tried to quote both in one reply and got the coding messed up. ;u; ))

    49. Sorry, might be going out of topic here:

The only countries I know that have announced paper copies of Heaven Official's Blessing are Taiwan and Thailand, so I'm guessing you're from one of these countries? I could be wrong though. But I'm so jealous of you guys. Don't know when we'll get English editions of MXTX novels, if that even happens at all. :(

    50. Haha I played the game and got all the ssr before I quit. I've been playing in Taiwan sever and all of my friends had left to our country sever. :( My favorite is Tamano no Mae. So I guess we both lucky that LS didn't do our favorite characters this time. haha. Or I will have to sell my kidney for that =))
@fionvarre And Vietnam too! I'm from Vietnam but played in Taiwan sever for 2 years before I quit. I remember that they have it on Facebook game room and English version AKA global version is out there for so long already

Guys it's sad to say the Full set (additional option 2) of Onikiri which come with Demon hand, exclusive minamoto eyes, 1 open eyes head, 1 closed eye head, minamoto's icon standee, swords has sold out in a blink. Now you still can order him but with clothes only and the order will be open for 3 months.
Here is the image of the full set that sold out

    51. @snowle21 yeah, sadly. I mentioned that earlier. The promo copy said this premium add-on set was only limited to 66 sets. But it's probably the China allocation that was sold out. We'll probably still get it for the international market, but definitely at the inflated international price. T_T

    52. I just hope that LS didn't make the same mistake with Ringdoll or Dolk in crossover. If the doll came out great this time then I'll be glad and sad at the same time. Yes. Sad. Because RIP my wallet.

    53. Loongsoul's previous crossovers have been more niche, so I think there weren't much issues with delivery time and quality. I've seen photos of the actual Su Huan Zhen doll though, and he looked gorgeous. But I'm still waiting for my SuSu to arrive. My dealer said the protests in Hong Kong have really messed up the supply chain for a lot of doll companies

As for Onikiri... He's from a rather popular fandom, so I'm not sure how many orders he'll receive during his first week of release. If it's as many as the orders for Ringdoll's Lan Wangji though, I'd expect either a huge delay or a huge drop in quality...

    54. I’m from Thailand! But I heard that Korea also got the license since they opened box set preorders. I’m not sure about the US but maybe if they did a Singapore version it might be in English(?)

@snowle21 If their sales for Onikiri are good.. maybe in the future XD

    55. I'm so glad all my dolls shell my original characters (and I'd feel bad buying Onikiri to customize) because otherwise I'd be in trouble as LS is one of my favorite companies and Onmyoji one of my favorite games, haha. Thank goodness it's not one of my absolute favorite shikigami. If they were to release Shiranui, Miketsu or Higanbana though...

The doll looks good though, here's hoping the quality will be good! If LS keeps their usual standards though I think it'll be great.

    56. @fionvarre Oh I don't live in Asia sadly. I was just commenting on the pictures that were shown in the link XD His price tag as it is makes it kind of not possible right now even if I did want him.

    57. @Yuns I stopped playing before Onikiri was released, but I was very interested in him when he was announced, because he also appears under a different name (Higekiri) in Touken Ranbu.

And yes, I'd also feel bad about customizing a fullset doll as gorgeous as Onikiri, or my Su Huan Zhen, as both have very distinctive faceups.

    58. Hi guys. Would anyone know what's the difference between these two heads? I was looking at Chehou Helian Rongying's listings on Taobao, and it seems there's two options for the head? Before adjustment - A and After adjustment - B? From what I can see, it looks like the headplate on B had been sanded for uniformity, while A looks more raw/uneven? Which one would you recommend me to get, in case I push through with my plans for Chehou Helian?

    59. I think....my vote go for the Bottom one. It look more sharp and the chin look shorter, My issue with China dolls is their long faces.
