Thank you for the info! I checked there first (I ordered the doll from alice) but its not enough info for the measurements the artist wants. It's a very pricey commission so I want to get as many of the measurements they need accurate so it works right.

He does look really good… Loongsoul really does know how to make their dolls look gorgeous and kind of irresistible with their fullsets. I know for me, if it is just the dolls, I probably wouldn’t drool over each and every doll they release, but with the fullsets, I am just like: here is my wallet, Loongsoul, just take my money lol

 

@bluebellaen T^T I totally relate - except for the buying part. I finally got their page to work for me along with the translation tool and found out that he'll be 73cm tall. u.u My wallet is celebrating, cause I know 68cm is already my limit, but... gna.... If only I could get my grabby hands onto that outfit and accessoirs I'd be happy already ^^° I know I'd have to shorten it to fit, but... I'd be totally ready to do that... Oh well. I'll just have to oogle all of yours and hoping a lot of people get and SHARE him.

Really wish Loongsoul would make handsome ones like this in the 62-68 size area ^^°°° The cuties are adorable, but sometimes one needs something more mature... also... clothes...

@Mahgiep that‘s what was written in the text on the page withe the pics, when I used the translation tool on it. I fully expected it from the start as LS does pretty much 90% of their dolls with this kind of stylings and collaborations in that size. My pain, you gain i demand pics xD

 

for all the detailing in their outfits and such, using the big guys makes sense. The more you have to scale something down the more details you lose and the harder it is to keep things in scale. It's basically 95% of the reason I mostly make stuff for my big dolls and not the smaller ones, it's just so much easier to get a you made that?!!!() rather than an oh, you made that() result, and I imagine whoever does the design work for these gorgeous releases probably feels the same way

 

@Girrl I totally understand that, thrust me XD I feel it everytime I work on an elaborate outfit for my small and big (biggest is 66 currently) dolls. But I've seen them being able to pull off awesome outfits like the one of Chang Qing (who's outfit I have incoming right now acutally). So I'm convinced they totally COULD pull it off on smaller scale.
I think they simply don't do it, cause they don't do more mature faces for the shorter guys either.


(And if they'd sell the outfits and accessoirs on their own, I'd totally buy them and adjust them to fit XD)

 

They usually sell the outfits and accessories separately. You can get outfits through Loongsoul or Legend. The accessories are available more often on Longsoul's site.

Are you talking about the accessories? If I am not mistaken, I think you can buy most, if not all, of Loongsoul clothes separately, except for some accessories. I know certain accessories (weapons mostly) are only offered with the fullsets which is a bummer since it would be nice to be able to buy them without having to spend thousands on the fullsets…

@bluebellaen Yes, the accessoirs too. If those were avaible separatedly - especially the swords, I'd probably go on a crazy equipping spree XD

It does seem they have made more outfits avaible now, but I remember oogling an emperor-like outfit and another one and those weren't avaible. Or maybe the emperor outfit was avaible, but I wouldn't have been able to buy the armor parts that would have belonged with it as they weren't part of the outfit and listed as accessoirs or something.

It's so hard to get proper weapon props for bjds in general - especially ones that aren't actually too heavy for them to lift or are PROPERLY in scale.

Yeah it’s hard to keep bringing home those big dolls without letting some of them go first… It’s not just about the funds but also about the space. I am loving him so far too, but would agree with you that we need to see more pictures. At least he will be available for pre-order for 3 months so we do have some time to decide (but not as much time if we want to take advantage of the new doll release discount though lol)…

 

@Snowy I know… if they sell the weapons separately I would go on a crazy bjd weapon shopping spree too. I love, love their weapons but as far as I can remember (I am only in the bjd hobby for a little over 3 years though), all of LS weapons are sold with the dolls only. I remembered wanting the Wolf Kui Mu Lang weapon sooo bad but could not get it as I was not able to buy the doll back then…

With this new doll, if I decide to buy him, I think I will need a loong layaway, because I don’t think he will be cheap, for the fullset, with 2 heads. And, what do they mean by stating (from google translation ) that there are ‘exclusive’ black hair open-eyed version additional purchases? How exclusive? Like, exclusive to certain countries or groups of people only?

Anyway, if for some reason I cannot have him, I would definitely want the outfit (and the sword, if they sell it separately which we know is not going to happen lol).

It’s so nice that you know how to sew to alter the outfits to fit your dolls. Have you ever tried to do that with a 73cm outfit for your smaller-sized dolls? I am curious to know the amount of works needed to do such an alteration…

@bluebellaen SAME! And occassionalyl they do sell the accessoirs separately. Rarely, but they do. I'm getting the bow-set along with the Chang Qing outfit (supposely on Monday >3< ). Thought the bow set will go to another doll XD
Had to check which ones Kui Mu Lang head - the thingies I call klingon blades in my head XD They are cool. Might want to look into weapon miniatures or keychains or something and see if you can't find something similar enough.

Their last fullsets like that were around 1k. They didn't have the weapons included thought and only one head.
Good question. I think it might only sell with the set or something, if it has any other meaning other than that they made that open eyed head and black wig 'exclusive' for fans, cause it was in high demand and the character usually has his eyes closed (from what I could find out so far).

I actually haven't done an alteration like that so far ^^° I only adjusted 68 outfit to fit the old 62 body (Kui Jie's assassination one). If I can get the outfit, it's similar in size differende (73 to ~ 66cm), IF I need to make any alterations at all.
I'm sewing a lot of outfits myself and have been looking into getting a small embroidery machine, but... the one I want... I could likely nearly buy the doll fullset for that price ^^° And I don't need embroidery that often (so far), so... nah...

I'd wish LS would fulfill a dream of mine:
A chinese throne hall, with their emperor sitting in his wide chair, staircase leading down and the other dolls lined up left and right and a shoot from slightly below up, with all the dolls looking towards the camera...

Oh wow I can totally picture the whole scene in my head. Looks and sounds amazing, but yeah, would be extremely costly to recreate such a scene To me, you would need at least 11 dolls (1 for the emperor and at least 5 on each side lining up), all fully dressed up in fancy, royalty outfits. And the props…

I saw that they already had pricing information on the new doll in Chinese yuans already. Still waiting for the official pricing in USD… If you decide to get the outfit and do the alteration, please do share once you are done

I have 7 LS big dolls, 6 guys and 1 of the ladies, but they're all older sculpts and no one seems especially interested in seeing those anymore so I don't post them. I have 2 more floating heads that need bodies, but again, older sculpts that no one ever seemed too fond of (except me, who effen loves them, but whatever)

 

Hi all! So I have a friend who's been desperately wanting a Loongsoul boi and just got their tax refund. They're considering getting one of the newer bois, but they wanted to ask Loongsoul a couple questions and so they emailed them on Tuesday. They still haven't heard back from them yet, and I wanted to know if anyone knew their response times/windows so I could reassure them or if there's any other way that we're supposed to contact them instead that we may have missed on the website. Thanks!!!

ETA: I've introduced them to BJDivas and they're looking into ordering through them now instead of directly from Loongsoul to help with any possible language barriers or communication issues. Is there anything we should know when ordering through there that we should do? ^^;; Sorry, I've been out of the scene for a couple years so I'm out of touch these days...

I only contacted them directly once via the provided e-mail on their web page but that was years ago.
These days i use jeeryama / newcloversinging as she’s an official retailer of theirs and also located and native in China.

Maybe the questions they have could also be answered by some of tge members here?

 

I've contacted loongsoul directly through taobao's chat interface aliwangwang. You need to know chinese, but they responded right away. I don't think they check their email often.

For BJDivas, you're responsible for the shipping fees. I would also suggest contacting Alice from Alice collection. She replies pretty fast. She does charge a paypal fee if you do buy from her.


LS has the new boy on their taobao already. Seems to be fullset with faceup only and 73 second gen body. You can make an additional purchase for the opened eye version. Click on the image for the fullsize image.

Curious to see if he‘ll be available ONLY in fullset or not. That’s kind of what I feared tbh. Their character doll from Onmyouji was also only available as full set with some small variations.


EDIT: got my Chang Qing outfit today and as always it's well made and full of little details. Definitly worth the price they are asking. I also got the weapons set and was surprised to see it arrive in full colors - saves some work XD
Only complaint I'd have is that some of the small decorations immediately fell off. They were only glued on, so I suppose that's to be expected, but still a bit annoying.
That said. Even with the pictures to guide me I still needed nearly an hour to get the doll into it ^^°°°
(No link as it's not a Loongsoul doll).


As for Ye Ying... if I read it correctly he'll only be avaible as a fullset.
And it kind of reads like it could be a china-exklusive, but I'm not sure. Loongsoul worked mainly with pictures this time, so my translator can't pick up the text of those.
Already contacted my trusted retailer to see if she can tell me more / get her hands onto that doll.

 

One of the floating heads is a Ken, whom I don't recall ever seeing owner photos of (there's a few faceup artist photos that turn up on Flickr when I search for the sculpt, and by few I mean like 7, total). It'll still be a while before he's camera ready if my current plans for him work out, but I'm cautiously optimistic. The second floater is an Iman. I might order him a body after my upcoming (and hopefully final) left elbow surgery to celebrate being done with hand and elbow surgeries (4 surgeries in 17 months so far)

The full dolls are a MuChen (NY), Morgan (TS), MuXuan (TS), Ivan (NY), LongYi (NP), LianPian (TS), Hao Tian (NY). My MuXuan is from the super orangey batch of TS LS had for a bit before they went back to the more mellow tan my Morgan and LianPian are in.

China exclusive is a possibility, considering that Onikiri was also a China exclusive release.

As for pricing, I'm looking at around 7500 CNY for fullset + open eye head and black wig with headpiece + domestic China shipping (that's with the first three days launch discount though). Which would be around 1,100 USD converted, but international pricing usually adds anything between 100-200 USD to the total price, so I guess probably around 1,300 USD for the set if ordered on or before June 30? That's around the same price Su Huan Zhen sold for, and he had the same level of complexity as Ye Ying for his outfit design and accessories: 73BC-0043 (Su Huan Zhen)_Grace(69~75)_Clothes_LOONG SOUL DOLL

I hope you like their white skin though, because that seems to be the only skin color being offered for him.

The more I read what oyu have, the more I wanna see. A lot of these sculpts don't have owner pics that can easily be found and I'm sure they'd make a lovely crew put together or in pairs don't be shy to show them of!

@Girrl wow that is a very nice collection. Please do share with us. Yes they could be older sculpts but who cares, they are still gorgeous. Older and discontinued sculpts are rare and we do not see a lot of them anymore, so if you have them, it would be super sweet to see them. And like @Snowy mentioned above, it’s not that nobody is interested in seeing them, it’s just that we do not know who has them to ask for pics

@Snowy Did you hear back from your dealer yet about Ye Ying pre-order? I checked with a dealer I know and she confirmed that YeYing is available in fullset, white skin only and the outfit and accessories cannot be purchased separately…
This may not be China-exclusive (not 100% sure though) since the dealer I mentioned above is not China-based and she can order him, but still, I am wondering how come neither BJDivas, Alice’s Collections, nor Christina Clover-singing have listed him for pre-order yet…

 

@bluebellaen I'm with Christina / newclover-singing actually. She was confused by their weird pricing at first and reached out to them, but it was already late (release was 8pm china time) and so she let me know that she'd be at it this morning - and she did manage to get an understanding with them

She's listed him on her webpage now. The fullset price (right now, it will raise in stages, like according to LS slightly confusing overview) with closed eyes and white wig is 1288$ through her the open-eyed head with dark hair and face-up and accessoirs and stuff is 330$ extra. There's apparently no offer/option given by LS to swap head and wig for the other version without paying extra.

On the fence on what I wanan do now. I was already willing to hop onto the boat and get him in fullset if no other option, but I would prefer the dark-haired and open eyed version. I suppose I could get a dark haired wig later, so that wouldn't be the issue. Question if I really want the open eyed version or not and if I'm willing to spend that much or not ^^° I wasr eady for the 1k but if I want to go all out that's nearly 600$ more than I planned. I mean. I know layaway is an option, but still... ^^°

I believe that many retailers aren't aware of his existence yet or maybe they'll only make him avaible through china-based retailers.
Time differences might also have an issue as to why he isn't listed yet.

Meanwhile I'm going to roll the numbers around in my head a little and see if I can make up my mind.
So yes, I'm like 99% sure that I will get him, I just don't know if I'll get him with one or two heads ^^°

EDIT: Go big or go home they said... So after mulling it over for several hours I just placed my order. Getting both heads n everything. I even have an idea for the second head if I like both enough to kerp them. Just might have to go hunting for a body for the 2nd head then.

Has anyone hybrided one of the 73 guys heads onto a smaller one? According to the data the 73 bodies have 11.5 cm circumference and the 62 and 68 both are at 10cm circumference. I‘d like to see what the difference might look like.

 

@Snowy - The 62cm neck is 9.5cm~, not 10cm.

 

@Snowy I have Wolf (11.5 neck opening) and a 10.5 necked LS body (also 73cm). I could take photos today. Not sure if I can post it though. My Flickr app stopped letting me upload. You could pm your email address if you want and I could send them. Let me know.
Clover Singing and Alice both have options for this 73cm body with smaller neck (thanks to my request).

I was wondering if anyone else had shoe-fitting problems with cloth-sets? I got the one of Chang Qing and put it on the old 62 boy body. The outfit fit, but the shoes I just couldn't get on. Or I somehow could get the feet in, but I'd have troubles pulling the zipper close.
Going by meassurements I don't feel the new 62cm boy has that much smaller feet, so I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem or if the meassurements are not quite as spot-on as one would think and the feet are indeed quite a bit smaller. I have other shoes that work well with the outfit, but I'm wondering if this is actually a production issue or simply a sizing issue, that won't work with the older body.

@Snowy - Yeah I was hoping to use that body for other hybrids but the neck is smaller han advertised. I could measure my guy's feet when I get home if you want to compare? Im also waiting for Chang Qing so I'll be able to see (once I receive him) if they silently changed the feet since his release, haha.

I admit I regreted later not getting the doll with the outfit, as he would have worked out for an idea I had later, but... :3 Well. Can't have everything and I just paid of my girl, before going straight into my current long-term layaway ^^°

 

@Snowy - I did buy him as a full doll as I did want him but was hoping he could share his body with one of the floating heads I had the time. He's a 28 stars Jiao Mu Jiao. He still needs a wig, I've been (very slowly) trying to get into making him one. No I just got Chang Qing blank.

@Snowy - Haha, I'm not that patient. Other factors are making me take forever to get around to it. Hopefully I can finish the wig by end of july or august. I think it'll be another 2 to 4 months for Chang Qing maybe. Loong Soul finally allowed me to order him in tan so I'm not sure if they take longer to make the tan resin or not. Jiao Mu Jiao only took four months and he was blank as well. Im hoping for another short wait, haha.

 

@xyuemoto Oooh! Tan! That sounds great Hopefully the weather there won't get in the way. Hoping you'll get him fast (did you order directly or through a retailer?)

My favs are Jiang Cheng, Lan JingYi, Mo XuanYu and Lan XiChen XD I actually have character dolls of them, but they are all in MSD size ;P It was supposed to be only a fun temp cosplay for JC, but before I knew it, I had the whole quartet XD

 

@Snowy - I got 7.4x2.9cm for the foot but I could be off a mm or two due to human error. I ordered Chang Qing from alice collections. Do you know if there are generally have long wait times through alice collections?

 

I decided finally to not order YeYing as the 12-14 months processing time specified by Christina gave me the cold shower ! Congrats to those who will get him even if it is more than a year.

 

@xyuemoto Thank you, I'll go compare it to my own boy later today.
I don't usually order from Alice, but from my friends I know that they usually are about equal the time that newclover-singing has, plus perhaps a few weeks as newclover is located in china, while Alice is an US dealer. My outfit took around 6 months, I read the other day that someone got their blank LS doll within 4 months from Alice. With the upcoming summer weather, there might be delays as casting is trickier, but I think a 6 month wait is a rather realistic estimate for LS in general.

But I can relate. It was a WTF feeling for a moment, but then I realized it's not that unrealistic. They generally have a waiting time forr about 4-6 months for a blank doll. Add about a month for a face-up, then consider that the next 3 months are a tricky casting time, plus the fact that they are having the order period for about 3 months and they might wait together until they have a certain amount of orders in and paid... Yes, I can see why they gave that estimate. And personally I prefer them to claim a longer production time and then getting positively surprised when the doll is done earlier, than being excited as the last days trickle by and then... waiting... uncertain how much longer it's gonna take. ^^°
(They might in fact actually have an agreement with the game owner that he needs to be shipped out a year later, aroudn the same date as release, for some character-related special date or something. That's just spectaculation on my part, thought.)

BUT! Who knows what else will come up Might be some other boy ready to swipe your savings out from under you XD

 

@Snowy I think Loongsoul just takes longer in general for their collab dolls vs their in-house characters.

My Su Huan Zhen also took over a year before shipping out, but Loongsoul had already advised the dealer that they were fixing something for the fullset, so his shipping date would be delayed.

And I think Onikiri also took longer than a year before shipping out

Anyway, much as I love Ye Ying's design, I'll probably pass because I'd prefer him in French yellow or light rose rather than white skin. I'm not sure if his fullset comes with body and hand blushing, but I guess that would probably help mitigate the whiteness of the resin?
