Little Monica - Harmony Line (Part 3)

Jan 15, 2016

    1. I think LM heads vary in size in general. Like @Cuteasadoll 's Chloe is bigger than her Roselyns and my Reynell is bigger than my Sophia. Again, no boy/girl comparison but my guess is that maybe some boy heads are bigger or smaller between them too? :?

    2. Thank you @Cuteasadoll and @tharlenne for the input and help !

      I am honestly hoping that the Little Monica body I inquired about is still available. That would probably be the best outcome right now rather than trying to hybrid. ^^;

I haven't seen a wide variety of LM dolls in person, so I never realized they had so much size difference! Especially between the same gendered molds. The only 3 I have are my Dyuke, a Honey Harmony and Muse Harmony...talk about random assortment. @tharlenne I liked your last photo of your Reynell with Sophia. Nice to see a comparative shot of the two molds side by side. I feel like sometimes I get confused with many of their female molds because of their similarities, but I never realized how pretty Reynell actually is.

    3. @Dybbuk thank you! I'm glad you think Reynell is pretty. It is my personal mission to share her as much as I can since I couldn't find many photos when I didn't have her. I think she's really underappreciated.

I quickly grabbed my camera after reading your post and took some pictures to compare the sizes, just so you see the difference we're talking about.

In person, it bothers me a bit because their characters are sisters and Reynell is supposed to be younger, yet her doll has a bigger head? But I've managed to hide it on camera pretty well. I checked their head measurements in the LM page, and as you'd expect, Reynell's head's circumference was bigger. So maybe that can give you a hint when it comes to the proportions you're looking for.

    4. @tharlenne : DANG! You aren't kidding. You really cannot tell in photos at all, but once they are side by side you can see the size difference in the forehead.

Makes me wonder why they are so different. Only thing I can think is that way waaaay back in the day, before Little Monica was its own company, they sold their sculpts through ndoll. I remember several of their sculpts were released via LM much later under different names. The Haazel sculpt used to be NDoll Aki a long time ago (If I'm not mistaken). I wonder if Reynell, and Haazel (who is also quite large) are some of their old sculpts. Personally, I think that lots of old dolls (from a lot of companies) have gigantic heads that slowly get scaled down as the sculptor begins to finely tune their style.

Just a thought, but either way I think Reynell is gorgeous! You are doing wonders advertising for LM!

      • x 1
    5. @Dybbuk Gee, I wish Little Monica paid me for that  I'm just a devoted fan.

The forehead and general width, like ear to ear distance and also the features in general, her eyes, nose and lips.

Actually, their nDoll sculpts were Sophia, Eden, Giselle, Luke and I don't really remember who else, but there were either one or two more. Maybe Yuria? They have them listed somewhere in their page. Ryuhwa is veeeery similar to Eden, the same way Reynell and Renonne look alike. I wonder if they have similar sizes or if they're as unexpected as the rest.

I think the sizes have simply come out like this at random. On the Little Harmony side, I have a Little Kliff and a Lariat head, and Lariat is bigger and newer than Little Kliff. Do note that Lariat is a female sculpt and Little Kliff is a male one.

I also remember a Haazel owner telling me Little Monica told them the Grand and Harmony heads were made in the same size (because she wanted her Haazel in the regular Harmony body) but I've seen Demetri and Dyuke in their 70cm body and it gives me the impression that they're smaller than Haazel and Luke. Just a thought, I have no way of confirming this.

    6. Hi folks! I wanted to share my predicament- that’s already in the process of being fixed! My Innocent Chloe started cracking in her faceup. It’s hard to photograph, but I got it to show a little bit. I asked Little Monica what could be done, and they said they can evaluate her for their “After Service” on the faceup (like repair? Before going full blown wipe and redo). If it is required to wipe and redo, I’m willing to pay for that to have her perfect.

So! I’ve paid the postage and am dropping her off at the post office March 27. It’s my first time shipping to Korea so I’m interested to see how long it’ll take to ship from California. After all, I’ve been getting packages from Korea to me for 3 years! I paid for Priority International, which came out to $49. Definitely makes me appreciate $27 EMS now!!

I’ve definitely sold my soul to Little Monica long ago so I don’t mind at this point. She’s so gorgeous I want to maintain my Chloe well, so fixing her sealant issue was a must. As time goes on I want to share what it’s like to send a head back to them for repair, and what it’s like ordering the Re-Faceup service if I have to do that too. I’m not sure anyone’s gone through this process recently, so hopefully it’ll help someone considering send a head back to them :3nodding:

Here’s the damage, it does extend beyond that texture you can see in the photo. I describe it as a bubble, looks like a whole chunk of the brow and eyeshadow is ripe for flaking off.

    7. hello everyone !! i hope it's okay for me to post something here, since it seems that the thread has been rather vacant for a month or two, but i just wanted to ask if anyone else has seen the teaser for the newest basic harmony doll ?? her name is laura, and from the sneak peek of a picture we get of her, she looks gorgeous already !! her lips look really pretty lol ?? they remind me of giselle's and roselyn's lips ! if anyone is curious, the teaser should be in the notice section of the little monica website, that's where i saw it !!

      • x 1
    8. I saw her!! I want to see her whole face sooner than they’re willing to give pics to us :XD:

I forgot to get back with my faceup fix details because it happened so fast!! It took 7 days to reach Korea, then LM confirmed they received her and told me expect news in 2-3 weeks. And then she shipped home 2 or 3 days later!! And she’s flawless now. They painted her brows lower on the face the second time. Not complaining, I know it’s hand painted work and it’s not bad, but did take getting used to.

Oh yeah, and Little Monica charged me nothing the sweethearts TwT I did pay shipping from myself to them of course, but after inspection they said it was a sealant issue and because I’ve not had her very long, they would just re-do her for me then send her home on them. Super positive experience.

    9. @Cuteasadoll : I'm happy to hear they replaced her faceup for you for free! It definitely did look like a sealant issue though. If it had cracked anymore, it probably would have chipped off completely. :) Love LM, they're always so great to deal with. Hope you'll share her new look!

I saw the teaser! She looks like she'll be in that classic LM style vs. some of their realistic molds. :) I am pretty safe since I'm doll fasting, but I did manage to get a Grace Harmony body for my Dyuke head! Really love the height and musculature for this head. I think it suits him perfectly~

    10. Laura is up! She defohas that classic little monica feel to her. I think I'm going to get her, but I do have to say she looks like a blend of dolls. She also reminds me of peakswoods A LOT. I love it! The more I look at her the closer I get to putting her in my cart xD No dolls until after vacation, very happy she'd not limited.

    11. she's super cute !! i agree, she does have that little monica charm about her lol ! she seems very pretty but has a rather serious look to her ?? i really adore her omg~

    12. Hi everyone! I’m in need of some assistance if anyone would be willing to help. I’m looking to reshell a character and both Kliff and Enrill are on my list, but I’m really struggling to find good owner pics of Kliff? Ones that show off his faceup(factory or custom) and just how his face can potentially look? I’m still so bad at gauging potential from blank faces.

    13. I haven’t been back in a while buuuuut I caved and ordered a Caramel Brown Sarubia! I am nervous for the new tans and not knowing what they’ll look like, but a friend of mine has their old darker tan and it’s essentially flawless. Only a few seam lines here and there but no noticeable marbling or bubbles. So I’m not worried about the quality, just what the color looks like in person. I’m sure it’ll be gorgeous though!

@VitreousSanity13 so sorry for the very late response but I usually find a lot on instagram or Flickr! Funny enough my friend’s tan boy is Kliff! You can see him on her Instagram here

    14. @VitreousSanity13 This might be a bit late but I do have a Little Monica Kliff in WS and default faceup (with two slight changes). I personally think that Kliff have a slightly softer look than Enrill.

    15. Popping back I'm to whine about my Sarubia :...( not to Little Monica though, just to the void :XD: I'm at the end of the waiting period and still have no notice about my Caramel Sarubia I ordered. I'm hoping to get the notice soon though, I'd love to revive the thread with her!

    16. :D I'm so excited to finally see some special heads for Giselle! I cannot wait for the release to see more. I'm most definitely gonna grab one

    17. Soooo I got my Sarubia. And I'm 90% certain I got the wrong tan. I ordered Caramel Brown, and it looks way too much like Choco brown. You can see my unboxing and photos on my instagram, username sweetmaringue
I'll be meeting up with a local friend who also ordered during this event, who did order Choco Brown, and so if they're the same color, it'll confirm I got the wrong one. If mine is correct then Little Monica photos weren't just a little bit off they were extremely, and it's really thrown me for a loop. I dont know if my color scheme will work on this color. So I'm feeling kinda sad either way. If I have to send her back and wait more months for a new one, I'm not sure I want the trouble...

    18. @Cuteasadoll Ouch. You've had some issues with LM. Lucky for them they own your soul. I was wondering if you could post a photo of your Chloe with the new faceup? I think it would be interesting as a comparison with the previous shot. I've wanted a OE Chloe for a long time but their faceups always look so heavy handed compared to what's on the website....

    19. @dollhausen that they do. But I was able to meet with my friend and compare our resins. While I do have the correct resin, it certainly is different from their pics. I think my plan will still work for her though!

And about my Innocent Chloe faceups, I’ll see if I can get a comparison tomorrow since I have the day off. I don’t have many photos of her pre-repair since I had her in a box to preserve her color. Would you be interested in basic Chloe’s default faceup? My white skin Roselyn has Chloe’s painting and I find it was pretty true to the photos on their site :3nodding: she has a doll profile on my page here with pics.

    20. @Cuteasadoll I'm guessing that's Rain? That does look more subtle than others I've seen. Though since it's a 3/4 shot it's not too close in on the faceup but it does look good.

As for the other, you posted a pre-repair pic above. I just thought a post-repair pic would neatly close that loop. Man, I gotta stop looking at these dolls...I've exceeded my budget for the year...

    21. @dollhausen here’s DJ! Left image is what I’ve posted before, right two pics are her new faceup. The color difference is only a matter of lighting but they pretty much nailed the replica. Only difference is the eyeshadow and eyebrows are placed lower on the sculpt.

And then here’s a more close up photo of Rain!

    22. @Cuteasadoll wohoa I didn't realize they had placed her eyebrows lower this time! :nowords:

    23. @tharlenne yeah! It makes her look even more intense. I do wish they were a little higher if I'm really picky, but it's not a huge bother. The whole faceup was intense from the start and that's why I needed her as DJ's reshell :3nodding:

      • x 1
    24. @Cuteasadoll Thanks for the pics! That helps. I do like that. I agree that with the eyebrows lower it makes her look more intense. Almost....not angry but with the other faceup it seems like her expression is more open and ambiguous, here it feels like she's concentrating on something. I like aspects of both.

Thanks for the portrait. That's super light compared to some I've seen. Which were more like DJ's faceup. Damn...now I'm feeling a passion for Chloe coming on...

    25. Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share my experience with a cracking face-up, too. Since I think the annoying things about the hobby should be shared as well.
A while ago I noticed several spots on my Sophia where her face-up was cracked or peeled itself off completely:

      [IMG]IMG_4955 by keliyara, on Flickr
      [IMG]IMG_4949 by keliyara, on Flickr

The faceup came off under the right eye, on the right side between her nose and mouth corner, under her mouth and between the right eye and eyebrow. (You should probably click the pictures and zoom in on Flickr, since it's kind of hard to see here.)
Anyway, I contacted Little Monica and they said they couldn't redo the faceup for free since I've had the doll head for a while now. They could only offer me a little discount on the faceup itself. So I had to pay the -reduced- faceup, the shipping to South Korea and back. The faceup on the returned head was nice and flawless, but the whole experience told me that I woul rather send the head to a faceup artist in my country, rather than to send it half across the globe just to be painted again. :/

      • x 1
    26. Oh dear! I wonder if the cracking is happening to all the heads in our batches :(

    27. @Cuteasadoll I remember a faceup artist (can't remembe who exactly) once wrote on her website, that she couldn't do faceups when humidity is very high, because of something with the colours and the sealant not staying on the resin. I think I heard that from several doll companies, too. So maybe some of these faceups where done during high humidity. Just a guess.

    28. @Amadiel yes it was definitely humidity based. I've had it happen before but sometimes it ws the heat/humidity from my climate rather than the painter's climate. Never been as big a bubble as on my Chloe though!

    29. Do you think an occasional spray with sealant would help with that? I mean before it cracked. And I agree with your takeaway from the experience, I think if I had a faceup falling to pieces I would give her a complete makeover.

    30. When it’s humidity based flakes from during painting, it cracks because there’s moisture underneath the layers that eventually breaks through. More sealant wouldn’t fix it. But if it’s hairline cracking, due to old sealant, fresh sealant can fix it! It’s called crazing, amd it happens at my job working with pottery as well. This article explains the science side of things well!

    31. @Cuteasadoll Thanks for the article. That's pretty interesting stuff, especially with the engineers involved. I do remember there being some churn awhile back around the formula change with that MSC. Bummer. Since I see Poison Girl's still selling dolls does that mean she found a replacement?

    32. Results are usually fine with UV cut MSC, it's the plain MSC that continues to have longevity issues (as far as I've ready anyway! I'm not a faceup artist and what painting I did dabble in was with an airbrush)

    33. Anyone happen to know if/when they plan to do another tan event? That choco skin looks so nice...But I missed the last one

    34. @NamelessPierrot expect to wait at least a year, maybe longer, maybe not at all :...( Little Monica has not shown any reliability when it comes to releasing information about future tan events. The first year, they promised every summer, but proceeded to not do it the following year and told us “there are no plans for a tan event”
But, as time went on, they offered the second one, then this year’s, but scrapped the old tans entirely and got new colors. With anything else I’d say go ahead and ask the company, but whatever Little Monica may answer may not end up entirely true. Which is why I jumped on my impulse this time around :sweat

    35. @Cuteasadoll Oh man. I'll def ask, but looks like dyeing just might be in my future

    36. They got back to me and effectively said they plan on "special skin event" every year around July-August, with "various colors including tan" but "can't say what color skins" they'll be doing yet
Which is super vague and has me a bit worried they won't release the tan I need, I might just dye the doll after all instead of waiting to see if they do it

    40. I just got a Sophia and I'm in love, she's so sad and delicate looking.

Really having some trouble deciding what sort of wig to get for her though, her head is a bit smallish. :sweat

    41. Hello! I plan on getting Laura on the Harmony Girl Body. Would SD13 or SD16 size heels be best for the high heel feet? I wanted to check so I could look around for boots while I plan for my girl.

    42. I'm not sure if SD13 heels would be a better fit or not, but I have mine wearing SD16 heels fine (though they are the sort with adjustable straps)

    43. Thank you for letting me know! :3nodding: I appreciate the help.

    44. Howdy! Ive got my eye set on a LM little harmony boy body, but i was curious, how well would the heel feet (not heel leg) fit onto that? I was thinking it would be a bit too different size-wise on the ankle joint to look right... but i do so love a heeled shoe lol.

    45. I put my vote in for Innocent Roselyn! I have been submitting feedback for an Innocent Roselyn for literal years now, I really hope they’ll make her someday. She’s my grail that doesn’t yet exist :...(

    46. I saw that and started filling out the form, then got scared that the doll I want would be the one chosen and I would want that version of him too, so I left the page without completing it. I'm trying to stay strict with my 'small collection' rule and don't want to invite temptation. :XD: Best of luck on your choice!

    47. Thank you ~ :XD:

I knew about BJD and Little Monica after Gloomy Demetri sold out , so I hope I can get him this time or Little Monica will release him again someday .

    48. Anyone found a wig that fits well on Sophia? She has such a small head...

Monique wigs are way too big.
Leeke wigs fit with a silicone headcap, but overall look too big

Anyone have any suggestions for wigs that don't look oversized and don't fall off very easily?

    49. Crobi wigs in the 8" size fit LM heads perfectly!

    50. I'll check that out, thank you!

    51. Anyone else ordering Layla? I kind of want to make her a him. She'd make such a cute boy ^_^

    52. Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right place for it, but does anyone know if Little Monica has an SD17 sized body? I'm considering getting a Renonne but I'd like him to share wardrobes with my Switch HD65 boy. The Harmony boy body is only 60-ish cm. Alternatively has anyone done a comparison shot of LM normal skin resin with Switch's? If they're a good fit I might decide on my first hybrid attempt.

    53. @raphaelite Little Monica and Switch are not good resin matches at all, at least for Normal skin. If you’d be up for white skin, those actually are pretty close! Both are a pink based white, would be a good candidate for blushing to match.
But back to normal skin, Little Monica is yellow and only gets yellower with age, while Switch is a peach based color that’s very stable. They’re only going to appear more different as time goes on. If I have time to snap some pics tomorrow I’ll try to add some! I’ve got couple different batches of both Switch and LM normals.

    54. Thank you @Cloudedmind for directing me to this body! I wasn't aware that this existed till today. I'm glad that LM is making more sizes now. Ever since venturing into SD17 territory it's hard for me to go back to SD13s.

@Cuteasadoll That is very helpful, thank you so much! If you could snap photos I'd really appreciate it. That's unfortunate; I've always liked Switch's normal skin colour and on closer examination LM's normal skin does look much yellower. It makes me wonder what they'd look like side by side.

    55. Is Little Monica generally fairly consistent in offering their tan skin in the summer? I've been DYING to order their Caramel Brown skin for a while now.

    56. @revien they may not be the same as a past released tan, but luckily it seems they’re getting regular with offering tans around August! Personally I prefer the original tan releases over what my Caramel Sarubia ended up being, though it’s still a lovely color. If they revert to the old tans, they’re warm tones. If they’re the recent tans, they’re cool tones. Or they may be new altogether, we didn’t get notice of the change it was just “these are the new tans!”

    57. I tend towards the cooler toned tans, but honestly it's an either/or thing for me. That's good to know though! I'll hope to see them available again before the year's out then.

    58. Hello! I'm new to Little Monica dolls, and I'm hoping to hybrid a Sarubia onto a Mirodoll 60cm body. I saw a Sarubia Muse box opening on YouTube and it seems that she had magnetic joints? Would this be an issue when hybriding a Harmony head to a typical doll with elastic, or are the magnetic joints just for the smaller dolls?
