Little Monica - Harmony Line (Part 3)

Jan 15, 2016

    1. Here's the link, I don't know why it doesn't show :/ Sarah or valerie?
There are some more picture of her arriving :p :D

    2. Oh beautiful! I can see her now.

    3. Would anyone here know if the girl's Grace Harmony body is double jointed in the knees as well as the elbows? Thanks!

    4. Hello guys!

I just ordered my Reynell head :D I haven't seen much of her at all so can't wait to spam photos of her everywhere!

    5. Does anyone have pictures of a Haazel and/or Enrill? Any skin color is fine.

    6. @Cloudedmind There is a recent box opening here on DoA of a tan Haazel. There are also many pictures of Enrill and Haazel which you can find on Flickr, including pictures of the two of them together. Hope that helps!

    7. @aestellica Thank you for the suggestion! I'll check out flickr.

    8. Hello, I'm planning on getting Sophia as my first bjd, and I'm so excited after 10 years since I found about bjds T_T.
That being said, I've totally fallen in love with the limited fall collection eyes from Sadol and would love to try them on her, but I'm not sure if I should get 14mm or 16mm. I know that little monica lists 16mm eyes, but I don't want the irises to be too big.

Would any Sophia owners please be so kind as to post photos of their Sophia with 14mm and 16mm eyes?

    9. Aww! You must be so excited! Sophia's such a beautiful sculpt! Great choice for first BJD :D

I do not own any Sophia but I'll link you to a flickr album of my favorite Sophia owned by @peppercrushes . I might be wrong but I believe you can see both eye sizes there. The first photos must be 16mm while the last ones must be 14mm. This is just my guess but if I'm wrong, @peppercrushes can correct me! Here's the link!

    10. You can ask Little Monica on their Q&A section or send them an email with this inquiry. They respond super fast!

    11. Thank you so much for replying! Yes, after waiting so long I'm finally making the leap to own a bjd!:D peppercrushes owns such a gorgeous Sophia! I think you're correct that the first photos are 16mm and later ones are 14mm. Hmmm, looking at it I quite like 16mm eyes too. Making decisions is so difficult DX.

    12. Im pretty hyped for the innocent Chloe event! Im excited to see what kind of outfits they have, if any. From the preview though im a bit disappointed in vampire Chloe. Wish theyd done her with a bit of an open mouth instead of just painting fangs on.

    13. @RamenNoodle below is a photo of my Sophia with smaller iris eyes. The iris size is equivalent to typical 14mm eyes, but the actual total size of the eyes I believe is larger (thus why I can't really call them typical 14mm eyes). Personally, I like the way the smaller irises make her face look more mature. If you want her to look younger and doe-eyed, the 16mm will work better.

    14. Thank you for replying! Your Sophia is gorgeous, and so elegant:love. I do like how mature Sophia looks with smaller eyes, but I think I want to go for the more doe-eyed look. Thank you so much for helping me out :XD:.

    15. @Kimchi your Sophia is gorgeous :chibi Maaan, I love all the Little Monica girls, they're all so beautiful~

@RamenNoodle can't wait for your Sophia :XD:

    16. @tharlenne Thank you! I can't wait to have her! :love

    17. It's been a really long time, but my Giselle is finally back to me and he has such a cute face ;o;

    18. @NamelessPierrot - Aww, I love his gentle expression!

I quite like the vampire version of Chloe in this release, she kinda reminds me a bit of Morrigan from Darkstalkers. I think it's the little bat ear/wing attachment that sends me in that direction.

    19. I’m tempted by the human Innocent Chloe! I did buy the outfit since I don’t need a floating head, but I may still be swayed to get her head before the end of her order period :XD: I’m a sucker for dreaming/sleeping sculpts and Faceup B is stunning

    20. Is there anyone here who has a harmony girl(s) with heel legs vs standard legs? I'm leaning towards the heeled legs but wanted to check if anyone who already had a girlie at home had any tips or recommendations to what works/poses best?

    21. @Ultraviolet i have both! I definitely prefer the heel feet. The slope of the heel leg foot is odd, and seems to only work with Little Monica shoes, all my other brands cause her to lean forward. Where the heeled feet let you rotate the ankle how you need to keep them stand. But both aren’t very steady on their feet, though.

      • x 1
    22. Oh ok, thank you for your answer! Might change my initial plan and get the heel feet instead of legs then since I'm planning to buy shoes from elsewhere :)

    23. Noèlle is finally home!!

Finally a Reynell here in all her glory! I played with the luminosity and contrast of these photos but the faceup does look more reddish than the Little Monica page shows it! It looks more pigmented overall, and her lower eyelashes are black, I thought they were brown. But boy is she beautiful!! :)

    24. @tharlenne She is beautiful and I love her equine nose! Congratulations on her arrival!

      • x 1
    25. Thank you so much! Her nose is my favorite part of this sculpt :love

    26. @tharlenne

      OH MY GOD YES!

You’re the first person I’ve ever seen actually get her! I’ve been looking for owner pictures of her for years! Congratulations!!

    27. Thank you very much! I am so in love with her~ I do plan to take tons of photos ~

    28. I ordered my first doll, Sarubia on layaway this week! :XD:

I was going to order Sophia first, and kept going back and forth on which one to get first. :sweat I'm planning on getting Sophia anyway, so hopefully that time isn't too far off from now :)

I'm so excited to finally own a bjd after wanting one for so long :whee:

      • x 4
    29. @RamenNoodle Congrats on your first doll! Sarubia is a beautiful sculpt!

    30. Thank you! I can't wait to have her! Just window shopping for her clothes and wig is a lot of fun XD

    31. @RamenNoodle I can't wait :dance

Guys, I have some contribution to do, hybrid wise.

I let Noèlle borrow her sister's body (whose head I don't own yet) a LUTS Senior Delf Type 5 body in White Skin. I wasn't doing this for the skin match, but rather the proportions, neck size and to see if it'll all work out, since I want her sister to be another Little Monica girl head. I took the pictures for a friend with my phone's camera so they aren't high quality, but here is what happened!

That other body you see in the legs photos is the NS Dreaming Doll Elva girl body.

      Conclusions:

      - With the wig it was barely noticeable there was any resin skin mismatch, however, I think that over time, LM NS's yellowing would make it more apparent so it's better to stick with LM WS.
      - The WS LUTS body was a better match to brand new LM NS resin than my old and probably yellowed Dreaming Doll body.
      - The neck was a tiiiiiiiny bit smaller (just millimeters) so it worked well, however,
      - The LUTS resin is SO smooth, the head and neck had little friction, and with minimal effort, she wanted to look down. She'll be better off sueded to prevent this. However, it wasn't so bad. It's not like she wanted to look down all the time. She could look up but would tilt her head down with minimal effort.
      - Proportion wise, I think it's great! Some mind find her neck looks too long with the LM head on for their taste, or that her shoulders are a bit narrow, but for others, it might be a great hybrid :thumbup

I personally prefer the Dreaming Doll body to the LUTS body because of the LUTS' weird knees mechanism, but this thread is about Little Monica so if you want more details about these bodies and Little Monica heads on them, start a private conversation with me!

As a disclaimer, I do not own a Harmony Girl body to compare.

Hope you find this helpful! :chibi

EDIT: Forgot to mention, all my Little Monica resins are Normal Skin (even if they looked close to LUTS' WS in comparison. This body was sold to me as "no noticeable yellowing" but she is creamy, and I got extra parts that had a different hue. So the point of this comparison is for White Skin hybrids! Keep it in mind!)

    32. @tharlenne I can also confirm that the Luts SDF Type 5 body also works well with LM's Sophia head, as I own this particular hybrid.:) She's in WS, so I can confirm that LM's WS and Luts' Real Skin White are very good resin matches.

    33. Thank you so much :D I have more questions so I'll be hitting you up on PMs!

    34. My Innocent Chloe head was marked shipped last night! She has the B faceup so I'm extra excited to get her altogether. I also am interested to see the difference in resin colors. I've always known their normal yellows quite easily, and this will be my first normal skin LM brand new! I'll compare all my years of normal to see what the change is really like. I think I have normals from 2015, 2016, and now 2017. My 2015/16 were already pretty different from each other that's how quickly the color has changed at least in my hands (and California heat).

    35. @Cuteasadoll Awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing her soon! The type B faceup is really cool.

    36. Haven’t yet gotten resin comparison shots, but I have gotten a good portrait for her doll profile! You can see a difference between her neck and her face. The body is from 2015 and the head from the last days of 2017. Happy New Year to everyone here!

    37. @Cuteasadoll oh my she is bloody gorgeous!! :D:D I love her faceup and over-all look, stunning girl!

    38. Is the newer normal skin, pinker than the old one? I can't see it clearly. :sweat
I have a LM's head from 2014 batch and I am thinking to buy a new LM body for him this year. Will new normal resin not matched with old normal resin?

    39. @Shien2 Paler is a better word than pinker, as their normal is yellow-based to start. I would say every batch of resin I have is distinctively it’s own color now. LM normal yellows rather quickly. But, given it’s a yellow tone to start, any differences are easy to hide with lighting when taking photographs (my house bulbs are also a warm light which favors yellow toned dolls looking more peachy than they really are).

Here I tried my best to keep the colors true to how I see them in person!

EDIT: just for clarity’s sake the middle photo, hands are Nov 2015, headcap is Dec 2017, and the feet are Jan 2017. I realized it may look like I’m labeling both hands as different years from my label placement.

    40. @Cuteasadoll thank you so much for the photo. I see older batch is much yellower than new batch. It will not really match togeteher. I am in dillema right now, which body should I buy for my 2014 head. I don't like to see my doll to have much different colour skin between head and body.:sweat

    41. @Shien2 You could keep an eye out for an older body secondhand, I have seen Little Monica pop up now and then! If you really want a new body, you could de-yellow the head so its a closer match (but if your head has a faceup you'd like to keep then you can't) or you could leave the body out in light a bit so it yellows to match.

Really though once as a full doll it's hard to tell a difference. Like in my Innocent Chloe image, you couldn't pick up that big a difference :3nodding: she's my newest head on my oldest body there, the body from 2015.

    42. @Cuteasadoll yes right now I prefer for secondhand body. De-yellow is not an option because I love his faceup
My head is dyuke in his old faceup. I love that faceup so much.:love
Yellowing the body is a risk to. It can't guarantee even yellowing for the entire body.
If I can't find a nice secondhand body maybe I will buy new LM body. I really wnat my dyuke to have a body :frownyblush:

    43. Hello~!
Does anybody have suggestions for proportionally and colorwise (pink) fitting jointed hands for the female harmony body?

    44. @pimilbero , I dont know about proportion but I know resinsoul will do color matching casting with their jointed hands ^^

I was one of the winners from the 10th anniversary contest! The prize is a surprise head, I cant wait to see what it is :D

    45. Thank you for the tip @Cydril , i will definitey check them out! I could send a foot as a sample, luckily i have two sets
      Also, wow congratulations! :D

Please let me introduce my Lily, since there's not many around on the internet. She's such a strangely beautiful sculpt <3

    46. @pimilbero she’s gorgeous! I just admit I did not like her in Little Monica’s photos but I love how you’ve styled her :love does she have a Little Monica faceup or did you send her out for a custom?

    47. Thank you @Cuteasadoll ! :D I painted her myself. Gosh it was pretty hard to paint her teeth (it was my first time) >w<;

    48. @pimilbero :
Wow, Lily~~ I like yours a lot~ I know that a few of LM's newer sculpts have different features with their older releases, but I guess it's a good thing. Hope to see more of your pretty Lily~~ :love

    49. My WS Sophia head with Giselle's faceup arrived ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    50. @tharlenne : She's very pretty. :kitty2
I have a Sophia, too. She was - and still is - my grail doll. When I first got into the hobby I saw her on Little Monica's website and thought "Wow, she's so pretty, but I will never be able to afford her." And now I have her. :)
She's currently gone for a new face up. So curious what she'll look like when she comes back. :]

      • x 2
    51. Oh! I feel you. I never thought I'd own Sophia either :XD: I didn't have a character for her until recently, so it was the perfect excuse to get her! What skin color is your Sophia? I always like seeing this mold in different faceups because of how different she can look, even more depending on the skin color. She's breathtakingly beautiful :love

I took this one photo of my Little Monica Reynell and Sophia together with my cellphone, and it's got a filter by the BeautyCam android app.

I wanted to share it here as well because of how proud I am of the shot :aeyepop: I didn't do much editing other than applying the filter (which is a little embarrassing) but I'm practicing angles and lightning with my phone to learn how to get the best out of White Skin without it looking too pale next to Normal Skin. It's my first WS doll.

Some Sophia/Reynell spam ahead people! Hehee~

    52. @tharlenne : Wow, they look absolutely beautiful. :love Very nice job on the photo and don't be embarrassed about the filter. It looks very nice. :thumbup
My Sophia has normal skin. Here's a picture of her before I sent her to the face up artist:
(She's not a "pure" Little Monica though, she's a hybrid with a Dollzone body.)

    53. Oh! She had the default faceup :love Both of my girls are hybrids too! It's okay :whee: Make sure to drop a photo here when you get her back from the faceup artist. The Normal Skin makes her look so sweet~

    54. @tharlenne : Yes, I will definitely post pictures of her when she returns. Can't wait. :whee:
What bodies did you use for your hybrids?

    55. My NS Reynell is on the Dreaming Doll Elva Girl Body, and my WS Sophia is on the LUTS SDF Type 5 :)

    56. Everyone's dolls are so beautiful. It's so nice to see some of the very obscure molds here too like @pimilbero 's Lily and @tharlenne 's Reynell. I think those might be the first owner photos I've seen of them!

Since everyone is talking about hybridizing LM heads~ I am trying to get a Grace Harmony body for my special Dyuke head but since the boy line is not very popular it has been a challenge finding one second hand. There is one that popped up a while ago that I am inquiring about but don't know for sure if its available.

      LUTS and LM NS Resin is a little similar (although I notice my Dyuke is slightly yellow/creamier than new LUTS Real Skin), so I wonder if anyone has ever tried male Harmony heads on the new LUTS SDF65 body~ I think it could be nice proportion, but my only fear is that Luts heads are a tad bigger than the petite features of Little Monica. I'd hate for him to look pinhead... =_= ;

      • x 2
    57. @Dybbuk he’s amazing!! As for the hybrid question, do you know how the girl heads measure up to the boy heads? Roselyn is small, but I’ve also got a Chloe and I have a Switch 65cm Attractive body. I can get some photos of that hybrid for proportion purposes, but I’ve never has a Little Monica boy I’m not sure if they make them any larger that girl heads. It’s also not the exact body but maybe can help if no ones got the Senior65 in hand.

    58. @Cuteasadoll : You know I don't think I've ever seen a LM female sculpt in person before! (I need to get out more) So I'm not sure how much smaller they are than the boys but I imagine they probably are a tad bit smaller. Of course after I wrote this and then read what you wrote, I started thinking... I had him on Volks SD17 body for a little while which is ~65cm and the new SDF and Switch Attractives are also 65cm and very similar build... I honestly think it would probably look the same as the SD17, which was very nice looking.

I had to just think it out a little bit~ lol I'm not used to hybridizing my dolls and try to keep the company body (mostly because I don't like it when resin color ages differently) but lately I am trying to avoid spending so much money and looking for 2nd hand bodies.

    59. @Dybbuk I’m the same! Resin not matching is one of my biggest pet peeves, I’ve ahd one hybrid before and she didn’t stick around. I hope it works out well for you though! I did have Luts and Lm normals at the same time before, and they were very good matches with each other.
