Little Monica - Harmony Line (Part 3)

Just got the email today that my Sophia head with Chloe faceup has shipped! Gosh, it's going to be so strange to just open a box and have a doll complete without needing to set aside time for faceups, body blushing, mods, etc. Well, maybe she'll surprise me and I'll need to mod her head to fit the Luts body.

 

@Kimchi ahh I can't wait to see her!! I hope she arrives quickly and safely And you shouldn't need to do any mods for that hybrid! I have a friend who's tried out Luts/LM hybrids!

So, kind of upset right now... My Sophia arrived and she's beautiful, but she arrived with her default faceup and not Chloe's. Her default is something I could have replicated myself, so it's really just a waste of the $60 I paid. I was really hoping LM would be reliable, especially since I spent a lot of time making sure I followed their instructions to get the other faceup.

 

@Kimchi Oh no! I think you should definitely contact them, they sent me two left heel parts and immediately shipped out a right foot when they received my photos. I think they would definitely try to make this right!

 

Perhaps they would, but the issue at this point is if the trouble is really worth my time. I'm sure LM will want me to ship my girl back (only after I take photos, post on their QA, and spend several days going back and forth with them to work out a deal), wait for a new faceup that they could still screw up, and then wait again for her to get back and hope her new faceup isn't damaged in transit. In that span of time, I could just wipe her and give her a new faceup.

The part that is really aggravating is that there were multiple times during the creation process this mistake should have been avoided/caught. The special faceup type and my order comments are even listed on the receipt that came with the package!

Alright, I think I'm going to stop venting and try to be more productive. Her faceup is quite pretty, even if it's nothing special, so I'm going to at least put her together and see if it makes me feel any less vindictive.>.<

 

@Kimchi Yeah that would be a lengthy process :/ I'm so sorry that happened! I was really looking forward to seeing the faceup translation on Sophia's sculpt!

@Kimchi Maybe they would consider refunding you? Because you didn't get what you paid for. I understand how hard it is to lose money like that since you're going to wipe her. I just hope they'd refund the whole $60 and not the $5 Other Type Faceup upcharge

 

Yeah, me too!>.< Oh well, lesson learned. I'll still try to get photos of her once I'm feeling less pissy. Her head does fit well on the Luts body, though! I also do like her with 14mm eyes.

My experience with doll companies tells me they would go the cheaper route. I guess I would feel bad asking for a full refund, too, since someone did spend their time doing her faceup (and I am intimately aware of how long and painful the faceup process is). I won't wipe her until I know for sure if I want something different. Like I've said, her faceup is pretty, but the initial shock and aggravation is definitely acting as a barrier against me accepting it.

 

Sorry for the double post, but I thought I'd share a photo of the troublemaker. Her name is Gwendolyn, which I think suits her aesthetic very well! Also, I love the Sophia sculpt even more in real life - I can't believe it took me so many years to bring her home!

 

Oh wow, she is really beautiful! Sophia is such a great sculpt and I really like how you styled her. I'm sorry you didn't get the faceup you wanted :[

 

@overlordu, thanks! Her faceup is growing on me. It's more melancholy in real life than in her promo photos, which is what I was wanting originally with the Chloe faceup (that and the blue/purple undertones). I can't really visualize what she would have looked like with the Chloe faceup, so it makes it pretty difficult to dwell on what could have been.:P

Ugh, I keep checking LM's website every day for the tan event O___O They originally said June~August so it's only a matter of time!

 

@overlordu Unrelated to each other but my whole crew is in the same story! I also have the Secret Roselyn head with Gloomy, I never thought I'd have three of the same sculpt, but ah here we are xD At least they have different eyes I swear if there's an Innocent Roselyn I am doomed to have a fourth, but that head would be Rain's sleep head and unless its faceup is a must have, I'd be getting it the Chloe faceup to match.

I hope it happens soon! I'm excited for more tan LM dolls!

@overlordu I love the expression of the Secret head when it's painted! Looks a little weird blank with that slit opening on the one eye I've only seen two other people who own that head actually post it, and they only made 60 heads to begin with. But I got her!! Ahh my grail!

@Ciel98 your girl looks cute no matter what style she's rocking! Her two-toned (?) wig is very fetching. And actually, her faceup is indeed the same as my girl's - that last photo I posted was just heavily color-edited because I took it in the middle of the night with icky incandescent lighting.>.o I also perform a contrast enhancement on my photos, which makes the blacks and browns in faceups pop more.

@KamekoLiddell oooh, I've been wanting to see owner photos of the Angel mold! Wow, that is one hell of a faceup - I love those freckles and lips!

@Kimchi thank you so much :3 I'm pleased you think so. You must be really good at photoshop, because Gwen's face-up certainly looked nothing like Jinhee's! I'm quite impressed (and in love with Gwen!). It sucks that Little Monica totally disregarded your custom request... And it's surprising, because they've always had excellent customer service...

 

I had some fun trying to get group photos of my crew, and I just loved how this close up of Gloomy came out! Sadly she couldn't stand with the rest because of her heel feet. Hopefully once I get her some shoes she'll stand!

 

I'm such a slow artist Been at this mockup for a few hours and still not done, but I'm getting an idea of what she'll look like! Nothing is final though, it's only my first mockup for her

@Ciel98 It pretty much is makeup in an art program! Open up a photo of the blank head and go from there I'm so slow at getting clean lines though, blushing is so quick and easy with the airbrush tool. And I am gonna make DJ's wig! I did a partial trade with the shop owner of Navy Blue Navel so I've got a big array of alpaca coming in soon! DJ's getting an electric blue A-line haircut (think Vocaloid Gumi's hairstyle).

@Mayumi_Nyu I hope so! My friend already rocked the double eyeliner on my Feeple60 so I'm hooked

 

Ok here's mockup number two! Brows are still very difficult for me to draw though I do have a vision of what they'll be! The colors are much more who she's meant to be now, as she is from the stars. She's on her way to my friend to get her faceup now too, so I'm excited to see if the constellation on her lid is possible!

 

I don't remember if I ever posted it here, but I finally got my Giselle head! Off with a faceup artist now getting a face and a wig, but the artist just gave me another progress shot of the face and my boy is coming along so wonderfully! I'm so excited to get him back and get a body for him!

@Ciel98 Jinhee is so pretty! I love her hat *__* I keep seeing those kinds of hats in photos of (human) models, and I love it!

I'm also coming on here to whine because Little Monica apparently does not plan to rerelease the tan/brown skins soon. When they released them this past winter I was really stressed because I couldn't afford it. I could have stretched myself very thin and done a layaway, but I chose not to because they said in several announcements that they would have another tan/brown event in the summer, "June~August 2016" to be specific. I restrained myself from buying other things for months and I sold a few dolls in order to afford it this time. But since it's July already, I finally asked them when they would start the event, and they said they had no plans for it anytime soon.

I'm so, so disappointed! This isn't like other companies who just randomly put out events, and you just have to wait for it. They specifically said they'd do it again this summer and I planned around it. Whine whine... u_u Trying not to be too dramatic about dolls, but I was really looking forward to this all year.

That's so disappointing with the tan and brown!! I was totally looking forward to it, even though I have no plans to buy (I'm all tapped out on resin for the year ) I was going to spread the word to friends I knew who were waiting for it too. Maybe they've decided on their releases for the next few months and forgot that they said tan/brown were going to come back?

Heres some last spam of Sophia before she gets a new faceup. Shes had this one for four years, and its gotten a little damaged.


What do you guys think of Belica? She doesn't look too different than Sarubia to me, but I think she would rock it in tan skin, whenever they release it again...

 

Belica's nose bothers me and I figured out why...I gave it one swipe with a blur tool and it was gone. Now I can't unsee her without her nose

 

My little goth girl isn't acting like one She's stealing the pastel clothing! It also matches her manicure, total accident.

 

Dollies do not always obey... Haha! She looks so good in it though!

 

@overlordu Thanks! Lol yeah those hats are pretty popular... But I only got one because it has cat ears! You obviously can't see them in the picture though haha. I guess they add a touch of class to a sophisticated little doll ;3

DJ's looking a lot more like herself now! She was destined for overall dark colors~ Her shoes, headphones, necklace, and new eyes came today!

 

Forgot to mention- the shoes are a perfect fit from Crobidoll! DJ has the heel feet with the ankle joint, not the heel legs. She can still move her ankle so standing in the shoes is a little more varied that just what could be done with the heel legs.

They also reminded me a question I always wanted to ask, does anyone know if the heel legs fit SD16 shoes or only the heel feet fit them? I always loved heel legs but I am afraid that they might not fit the shoes I had Q_Q

 

@mo29368 I don't have the heel legs from Little Monica but I imagine they're the same shape as the heel feet, they're listed as the same length!

 

@Cuteasadoll That's what I thought too but then the heel feet will be more versatile with the ankle joint so I imagined they might fit into steeper heels....? Or does the ankle joints actually don't do much difference in steepness wise XD?

 

@mo29368 hmm when I didn't have shoes for her the feet liked to rest without much slope to them. But since she's fine in these Crobi shoes I think the ankle ball may have been made to fit steeper shoes? I wish I had the solid legs from Little Monica to compare!

DJ's finally got her true hair! It's almost finished, just need to do the part on top. The back is very blunt, so I'm going to pick up some real thinning shears instead of trying to go at it with normal scissors. Her hairstyle is modeled after the Vocaloid Gumi!

The DJ is rockin' it in the blue hair! I'm going to try my hand at wig making myself when my newest acquisition comes home because, funnily enough, my LM Sarubia nicked the wig I had intended for him.xD I'll start cheapo, though, and do all my experimenting with brushed yarn.
