Leekeworld Mini Project & Art-body Dolls Discussion

Aug 25, 2011

1. Love your faceup and that dress is too cute... mind if I ask where u got it?

2. I just got a PiyoPiyo!!! She needs a faceup and a name, but I love her already!

3. I wanted to share Ghost who has finally gotten a faceup.

Also I'm really smitten with the new A type Bree...she suits a character but the character is male,I've seen several people use the Art Body for boys though...I'm going to think on it.

Noushi-My goodness she is adorable, even blank!

4. I really need to get a move on to try sueding my Ashley. I re-strung her and tried putting hooks in her ankles but it doesn't seem to help with those joints. Would it be better to take the hooks back out? The restringing helped the rest of her, but I definitely need to suede as her head flops back as soon as her wig is on. She has definitely grown on me though! I would have never thought I would love one of these girls. ^_^

5. noushi she's adorable! I'm looking forward to seeing her with a face up! I've been really curious about this girl and now I've seen an owner picture I'm not disappointed! :D

6. So I'm getting a Reika, but I have no idea what clothes she can wear. Can anybody help me?

7. You can find things made specifically for the Art body on Etsy and sometimes Ebay.

Leekeworld has a few outfits for them on their website,Denver Doll Emporium as well as Fabric Friends and Dolls sometimes have a stock of Art Body outfits from Leeke as well.

As for standard sized MSD clothing,I found that some tops and dresses fit but will be loose on the shoulders.
Form fitting dresses will not work because of the wider hips.

8. Thank you so much! :sumomo:

9. Hi i was womdering if anyone could show me what a premium mohair wig looks like, i usually only buy heat resisting but i saw a cute pm one and im thinking of buying one, pictures of the long ones would be incredibly helpful, like lp-012_m..thanks!!

10. Noushi thank you for posting PiyoPiyo, she is adorable. Been dying to see some R/L pics, and seeing her without a faceup is perfect... I must get her in snow skin.

11. Sharing Ghost with her new wig and eyes,I think she looks a bit more ghostly now if that makes any sense.

Also, did anyone order Bree? I'm contemplating rather or not I should buy the head that Leeke has in stock to hybrid onto a male body from another company, but I would really like to see owner pictures of her first especially blank ones.

13. Oooo, your girls are so lovely! I love that romper on your Ashley! Did you make it? I have an Ashley on her way from Australia, my first big bottomed doll -- yay!, and I'm very afraid she's going to end up being Nakey Girl unless I find her some clothing quick!

14. Thank you so much! I did order some stuff from LW today...two outfits, two wigs...for me, this is a big splurge! I am hoping I can really fall in love with my Ashley! Thanks again!

15. Hi everyone, I'm about to join the big headed ladies club and have a quick shoe question. Should I be looking for things that are more slim mini or chunky msd sized?

16. This is a tough one for these dolls. Either something that fastens in the back or is two pieces. Their top is pretty small...can probably fit in most MSD minis, but if it's a stretch type that needs to pulled up over the thighs/hip/bottoms it can be difficult as my Ashley and Rosemary wear SD size panties!

17. Well that will be entertaining. >.>

Their foot length is measured as 5.4, does that mean similar to a minifee's shoe size?

18. I don't have a minifee, but I can say that they wear all the MSD size shoes that I do have (ie: Dollheart, Angell-Studio...) which run about 5.5cm - 5.7cm.

19. Fabulous, at least that part won't be too crazy. Thanks a ton! Hopefully she'll be here next week <3

20. Hope you'll post a photo!! :aheartbea

Hi Bailette...
Aw, she's excellent! I haven't seen any owner photos of Bree. I didn't get her.

21. I'm so glad I found this group! I just got my Mini on the B-body about a week ago. I haven't done anything with her yet though. Your dolls are beautiful!

22. I have these two as well, but both in snow skin and both with the small bust. I am tempted to get a 3rd and try the large bust body, but not sure I'm willing to give up the posability..... are u happy with yours?

I have minifee's and yes they will fit the same shoes. I find the chunkier heel style shoes look great on them, as well as boots. Clothes can be fun to figure out seeing as her proportions are not the norm. I have heard SD sized short skirts are great on art bodies, that seems to be the part people have the most issue with. I have found yosd tops and dresses work for mine, as well as msd sized garments. Not sure if the large bust would incur issues, but my small busted girls seem to do ok for fit.

23. Hi YvrJohn, your profile picture is adorable! I agree with everything you said about the clothing challenge for these bodies. Honestly, I think I have only changed their outfits twice. As far a posability, I suppose that was something I was willing to live without because I really liked the overall curviness, I like that sculpt better. I like that the large bust balances out those large hips well. I can be happy with it because I don't do much posing with these dolls. I tend to take out and fuss over my yosd & tinies (16-20 cm) more!

;)

24. Thx Stellarphenomena, the Rosemary is such a pretty sculpt and I did the faceup myself. I was real happy to discover I could give her a hint of teeth through her pout. Isn't that funny, I have only changed my girls twice as well. It's not because I didn't want to, I just don't have any Sd sized clothes. I will have to soon as I am accumulating Feeple60moe's like they are going out of style. I got the Sionna fullset last year and should be getting the Lacrima fullset soon...... and now I've ordered the Lunnula fullset. So they will be needing separates and some pieces will fit those Leeke art body hips I'm sure. My girls certainly have accumulated a bunch of wigs, it's too bad Leeke does not include the 11 size in their colour promotions. I think my next art body will be the volume, it would be nice to have a busty version even if it means losing the posing, but I have 2 others for that.

25. YvrJohn, your Rosemary is indeed a cutie! I love the way you did the mouth...wish mine looked like that. You're very lucky to have the Mandrak Moors (Victoria Frances/Fairyland) dolls in hand or on order! I looked at Lunnula over and over...I love her stock and accessories as well - but I think I'm maxed out on SD dolls now! Are you going to paint those yourself?

I know what you mean about the Leeke wigs. Almost all my wigs are Leekeworld, and I just got some of the custom blended wigs, as well as the blackberry and real red color! I can't buy any more wigs for SD...I have more than I'll ever use now, but I love the color variety!

Great job on the repaints. I esp. love the EG's. Such a pretty sculpt and I have 2 but I'm not really impressed with the majority of the Tonner/Wilde factory face paint these days! It's a shame...the dolls have so much potential, I love the sculpts.

26. Unfortunately no Stellarphenomena, they already come with faceups so I will most likely live with them for a bit before I consider redoing them. I do have blank sleeping heads and the event f60 heads so I can take out my creativity on them.
So upset about the Leeke wig promo, I was sort of holding out in case something else popped up and then forgot they close the ordering the night before because of the time change and missed my opportunity. I also wanted the black/red mixed wig.... hopefully they will have a rerelease of them as "in stock", they always tend to. The new event has the art bodies still on that sale price, might get my PiyoPiyo with the full bust in whiteskin.
I know what u mean about Wilde, the factory faces have become rather similar and humdrum, however I find Evangeline had really vamped up with the outfits and really loving the extra diva-ish flamboyance. I guess it's good for me that the faceups are not great, keeps me in business doing what I love..... so it's all good in the end. Happy New Year!

27. YvrJohn, Happy New Year to you as well!

I know exactly which wig you mean because I talked myself out of it! Good for me! (haha)

Yes, but I am looking forward to seeing it, if anyone ever posts pictures of it. Maybe Denver Doll Emporium ordered some...

I can't remember if you said you had a white skin Leeke doll already. I really prefer my Ashley in normal skin. Rosemary looks as if she has a lavender undertone to her white skin. I'm not as happy with it. I haven't seen any owner photos of the Chloe tan skin, have you?

That is definitely an upside for you that collectors want upgrades for their doll! :)

28. Both my Leeke girls are the "snow skin" colour, I love it. I am a little partial to pale skinned dolls but I do own one tan doll, a littlefee Ante. I do like the tan colour Leeke has but they don't offer it as a choice which is a shame as I'd love a dark skinned art body. No I haven't seen any pics of the tan Chloe, honestly have not seen pics of the PiyoPiyo sculpt either....except for the one photo shared here. Isn't it annoying when u want to see pics and can't find any?

29. I have a few white skin dolls, funny how they are all a different shade. Luts and Planetdoll are paper white, literally. My favorite is the Angell-Studio translucent white. It's just beautiful.

30. Well Stellarphenomena everyone wants their own version of pale and obviously everyone has their own resin mixture. I imagine it is to keep hybrids from happening, but it does anyways. Hope u had a great holiday, Happy New Year!

31. Well I just bought a 40 cm Ashley with the A type art body as my b-day gift this year. She was in-stock at DDE, so I should have her some time next week. She is my first new dolly in a long time!

32. Congrats! I bought myself an Ashley for my birthday, too, and love her! I'm currently attempting my first ever faceup on her..... I hope you love her!

33. Thanks Marcel! I got mine with a faceup (type "B") because 1. I could this time, 2. I'm lazy!, and 3. I have school and stuff and busy this time around too. I actually enjoy doing faceups, but I love the LW pics, so I am happy I can get one already painted. I also got the wig that is shown in this company photo (in "goldenrod"):

34. Ashley is great Pumibel, my first as well. I'm now waiting on my 3rd, PiyoPiyo, and getting the volume art body for something different. I am hoping since they did a tan smaller version art body that they might do a large one eventually, would love one of these girls in tan.

35. My girl should be here tomorrow via UPS, and I can't wait! I have a lot of cute hats that I have made for my Blythe doll. I don't have enough MSD size shoes to go around, so I had to order a new pair for her. I should be able to create an outfit from the multi-size stash I have already, but I really want to get her something new too!

36. Congrats on your new Ashley! She's so pretty. I really considered getting her before ultimately deciding on Sunny in type A body. I actually wanted her in the B with the full bust. But I'm still happy with her. My girl is showing up sometime next week. :love
I'm so excited for her. She's going to be my first doll. So happy I found this thread about Leekes.
I would love to see some pics of your new girl. Have you gotten her any clothes yet? I'm struggling on finding things that would fit. Haha

37. I have a lot of different sized dolls and clothes, so I think I should be able to put something together. Congrats on your first BJD! That is always exciting, and I am sure you will love her. You may be able to make (chunky) yosd or MSD dresses with flared skirts fit. I have bought a set of SD bloomers from Volks for mine. The hip size for this body is in that range. Shorts and skirts for SD girls or stretchy MSD bottoms may work. Once I get my girl I will report on my experiments!
