Leekeworld L-Type Boys Discussion - Part 2

I'm loving Leekeworld's winter pre-order sale! I'm looking into getting a Christopher on the Solid Muscle body. Thank you, Ishtar, for the photo of your darling. He looks just as beautiful as in the company photos! Oh, but for those of you who have pre-ordered from Leekeworld, how long did it take for your doll to arrive?

 

I ordered an OD boy during their last week-long sale and I was quite surprised and pleased that he took about 5 weeks. However, he is an MSD and I ordered him blank so your mileage may vary.

The solid muscle body is very nice. Heavy, too. Khale is easily on of my heaviest dolls and lugging him anywhere is a pain. he has the default face up (Khal Vampire limited pale) and it is gorgeous. His hands are beautifully blushed, too.

 

Thank you so much for the info! 5 weeks is really fast, wow, I'm relieved. I've read about other people's experiences and they concur that 5 weeks is the average wait time.
I saw the photos of your Khal, he's captivating! I've always loved Leekeworld hands. Oh and yes, it must be a struggle carrying around a heavy doll. On the bright side, at least you know they weren't skimpy on the thickness of the resin.

 

The only complaint I have with his default hands is that they come off soooo easy if you so much as breathe on them funny (they are magnetic with a twist lock that has never worked to actually lock them in place). Fortunately, he doesn't wear those hands (he wears DZ armour claw hands), so I don't need to worry about losing them or having them pop off and get damaged.

I've changed out his eyes yet again in an effort to NOT have him with the black pits of doom. I think I've found ones that work for him and they actually work well with his character as a half-demon. Funny enough, I don't have any new pics of him with the new eyes. I should fix that....

 

So I had one of my other dolls out to string his new metal leafed dragon arm and remembered that I said I should do something about taking a pic of Khale with his new demon eyes. I really like these eyes in his head and funny enough, they were the second pair of eyes that I ever bought. Not kidding. The doll they were intended for HATED them and every doll I've tried them in hated them and I was going to sell them... until Khale.

I usually have this monochrome thing going with my dolls (I don't know why) and I tried every blue eye that I had (and I've got a LOT as companies always seem to send blue eyes as the defaults to me *laughs* even though I'm not a fan of blue eyes) and all were either too dark in Khale's head or the camera would pick up light weirdly in the eyes making him look cross-eyed or wall-eyed no matter how I re-positioned them. I have some lovely green glitter eyes but he ended up with the black pits of doom when I put those in his head. The lemon yellow eyes I have were just disturbing. The brown eyes were complete nos as pits of blackness is not the look I was going for.

But these eyes, eyes that every other doll I put them in made them look creepy as hell, they work for Khale. I'd have never thought to try them but I was getting desperate to find him his eyes and tried them more as a lark than being serious about them.

 

Took me long enough, but I just wanted to introduce my boy, Misaki! he's a Chris head on a type 2 Akagidoll body.(akagidoll has some seriously sexy bodies..) I really love him looking so peaceful and all, but once in a while I'll toy with the idea of getting his eyes modded open...... but I don't have the guts to actually do it haha

And once again I'm messing with Khale's eyes *sigh*. I originally ordered these for another doll that I won't see until maybe... Xmas? I think they look pretty good in his head. They're teal Oscar eyes and they may or may not stay in his head. I have another pair of eyes by MehiArt in grey coming and I may try them out to see how they look. I swear, Khale is the toughest doll I have to get the right eyes in his head.

 

Has anyone ordered from Leekeworld recently? I noticed they have a 30% sale going on and when I checked the L type solid muscle body and choose the basin skin from the drop down I got message that the body was in stock and ready to ship within four business days.

 

I haven't ordered from Leeke in a really long time, not since I bought that limited Alex head years back.... but I am so very tempted to throw caution to the wind and get one of the bodies with a Rihael head. I don't even know if the current normal will match the summer 2010 normal that Alex is, but in all this time i've never found a hybrid i liked, and here's this one available again.

EDIT: i've thrown caution and planning to the wind and ordered the L body and the Rihael head and I'm just going to hope like crazy that the resin still matches okay from the '10 basic. Blushing is always an option too. I've wanted a rihael for the longest time, too, ever since i missed out on the first ones way back when. I prefered the open eye one.... but I'm also comfortable doing a little mod to make him 'dreamy' instead of 'drowsy' XD

Everything i ordered claimed it was in stock now and would ship in 1-4 days, just like you said, Cloudedmind! Now I get to wait and see if that hold up.... I'm excited though, i've not been following the hobby that closely for a couple years, and every time i checked back in Mihael and Rihael were unavailable and I thought I'd never get a chance.

Awesome! Which now makes it harder for me to NOT get one. lol I have quite a few heads that could use some bodies. Will you be taking pictures when it gets in?

 

I have some modding plans, little eye opening, little hand reshaping to soften that stiff, claw-like pose just a bit, But those are pretty superficial and I can sure take some 'right out of the box' pictures for reference as soon as he shows up. There doesn't seem to be any real documentation on the Solid Muscle type body afaik (i've been looking lol!) so i'd be happy to do a little photo review.

let me know if there's anything in particular you want to see

 

Right out of the box pics are fine, and if you're up for it a few posing pics would be great as well. Mostly how well the body sits, and stands, as well as how well the arms pose, and a clear shot of the full body from the front and back.

 

Well, my taking has been stuck on 'origin post is preparing shipping' for a couple of days now, so who knows when it'll get here but I was planning some out of the box basic posing shots.... I just meant, before I break out the glue gun lol. Sure I can take some back view shots, planning some 'before' shots of the hands, too.

edit: looks like he'll be here tuesday. tracking says the package is sitting in the post office as of this morning, but my PO doesn't deliver packages that need signatures anymore, they deliver a card that you sign and take in the next day :/

 

okay, the head and body arrived yesterday, but it was late in the afternoon and pouring rain. It's still pouring, and might as well be 6 in the evening for how dark it is now... I'm not going to be able to get posing pics until I can set up some lights and a backdrop :/

My feelings about the body are mixed. the colour is nice, the sculpting and resin is nice. He stands very solidly, balances well even while not standing straight. there are 'locks' on the knees, the elbows, and middle torso piece. I like how slender the neck is, he doesn't looks like an uber muscle guy, for all the 'definition' on the legs/torso. I love the shoulder width and set.

However I find the torso to be a little disproportionately short -- not a lot, and it's hard to notice in clothes, but it stood out to me. I also find the hands to be slightly outsized for the body, and noticeably large for the Rihael head. Better with the Alex head though. Also the magnet-and-twist on hands do fall off easily if I forget to move the hand by the wrist ball. I don't mind, though, because it makes clothing easier to manage. May want some alternates though -- anyone know if the Senior65 Delf hands would work?

I also find that his "kneecaps" stick out too much, just a little with the legs locked, but it's noticeable in pants while he's sitting. Also the elbows want to pop out/to the side while the arms are bent, but the arms are strung fairly tight so that may get better.

overall though, I'm pretty pleased, and definitely find the quality and the aesthetic to be fantastic for a $280 67cm body. There are some real caveats, but if i wanted to fix those in a different body, well.... you guys know what the other options cost lol

also the Rihael head is beautiful! there's something just so winning about the details and proportions of his face! I modded his eyes open a little, his faceup is almost done and I'm completely smitten -- though struggling to find low, low dome small iris eyes that aren't super fantasy looking. any recommendations?

 

Thank you for the info Lirin! I was quite literally just thinking about you and whether your tracking had finally updated. So, glad to hear that all in all it sounds like a good purchase. I may just have to pick up a body when I get my next paycheck. I also noticed in the company picture the hands seem a bit large, but I tend to feel that way about most male BJD hands. :P

I noticed on your profile page that you have a DT girl in oriental, could you possibly comment on the resin match between the DT oriental and Leeke normal?

 

the Dollshe/DT oriental is a very similar color to the Leeke basic, but a darker tint. The dollshe's got more black/grey content in the undertone, the leeke has a white/cream undertone. Both are relatively neutral beige-y yellows without pink or peach hues. I couldn't tell the difference in incandescent light, but the Leeke looked noticeably lighter in (brighter) natural light. I think it could be workable though, with blushing, especially if it was the head going on the darker body.

to be clear though, the dollstown kid is a few years old now and I don't know if the Dollshe oriental is still the same, or how much the Seola has yellowed.

 

@Lirin Got it, thanks again! I've got an incoming switch head that I'm hoping to get a body for. Once it comes I can compare it to my bodies at home and see which one it matches the close to.

 

it's actually clear today and I got some posing pics earlier. Just about to step out and get some outdoor portraits. planning on posting this evening after I get them processed in PS.

I was wondering though, does anyone know if the Iple NS still matches the Leeke Basic? It looks like earlier on the thread, there's some good matches between iple and leek a few years ago, but i'm looking around now and it sounds like iple has a slight pink hue, while the Leek seems pretty much beige/pale yellow/creamy egg custard color

i'm thinking of getting a pair of iple option hands to as alternates. I looks like the wrist measurement on the EID guys is the same the Solid Muscle, at least in theory. The detail is actually pretty fantastic on the Leeke hands, but the Rihael head is gentle and young looking, so I'd like to match him with some smoother hands.

 

@Lirin If you can't find an answer, if you're up for some modding you could also just sand the hands down for a younger/gentler look. Cennie did that with a pair of April Story hands April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 2 (Post #506).

 

to anyone familiar with the leekeworld site, i need some help! I just placed an order but i goofed up my address. when i try to change it on the basic info section it keeps telling me my password is wrong. whats more, I wrote to them on the Q/A board but my message isnt showing up. does it take a while for questions to load on this board or should i repost @_@?

 

I had trouble with the password as well, it turned out to need to be between 4 and 8 characters, no longer or it won't work. Even though it worked when i signed up, my longer than 8 character password wouldn't go through and I had to make up something else. I don't know if this is you're issue, but you may have to change it.

@Lirin Thanks you for the pictures. I hadn't realized the body was single jointed, but that's not really a problem for me. But the site under their frequently asked questions section says the neck circumference is 11cm, but there seems to be some gaping with the Rihael head. Any idea what the actual size of the neck might be?

 

@Cloudedmind Measuring with one of those coated cloth sewing tapes, the neck looks to be about 10.25-10.75 cm depending on what angle i hold the tape. The top of the neck tapers into the head a little. Around the part where it actually meets the bottom of the head, it's the 10.5 to 10.75 range. A little smaller than marked, yeah. I'd say 10.5 is the most accurate measurement to be safe.

However the visible gapping seems to come from the Rihael head sculpt issues. It fits the neck side to side perfectly. But they made the neck hole a pretty long oval, maybe thinking that would allow better range of motion. It doesn't. Maybe because of how the s hook sits in the head, i don't know. Mostly it just gaps at the back.

got brave and reshaped the hands this morning. The adjustment is very slight, but I think it looks more natural. Just tried to bend the fingers together more and curl them down slightly for a less 'Halloween mummy on the prowl' look.

Hi, I was wondering about the resin match with AprilStory or Migidoll, either NS or WS. I know Migidoll NS isn't a match at all with Leeke's NS, but I couldn't find any WS comparison between these companies...

 

I don't know what the WS are like from those other companies. But I had a Snow Skin Mikhaila from the first or second order period of them, and the white resin was completely, utterly colorless. No hue or undertone, and completely opaque. It matched Dollmore white resin really well. I don't know if they've changed the white since then, though, anyone know?

 

I'm not familiar with Dollmore white. the WS from this sale has the april story shiny but color is different - slightly pinkish - unfortunately, my AS doll is packed up for studio move. but here's migi type A white with leeke WS against white satin pillow. hope helps.

 

I realized I didn't share my completed Alex here yet.... after 6 years (how did that happen????) he's finally all modded, painted and assembled. Wardrobe not so much, but I'm okay with that for now lol.

Wow I really love seeing the photos that some of you have posted of your dolls here. They are all really interesting and beautiful!

After trying to sell my Rihael and Mihael since Feb 2009, I finally decided to keep them and turn them into full characters, but oh dear, I didn't realise that it could be quite challenging trying to find a body with matching resin tone for them, haha. So I've joined this thread hoping to learn more about them.

At the moment I've just got them on my Dollshe Freshkin "Old Hound" bodies but I'm looking for better options. If you're interested, I've got a few short videos on Instagram showing them on it:

Actually I kind of like the lankiness of the Dollshe bodies and that height and width of shoulder being about 15 cm really assist with proportions given the big size of these heads, but the neck can benefit with a little bit of shortening. Unfortunately Dollshe stopped making the bodies so I do not want to mod the necks as these bodies belong to my other heads already. Although both the Leeke boys were made in 2009 and at the same time, my Rihael is paler than Mihael. Rihael's skintone matches my Freshskin Dollshe body but the Mihael matches the Oriental skin better, just to make finding them new bodies that liiiitle bit more tricky.

In another thread: /threads/lee...ody-or-dollzone-b60-005.730155/#post-12073761 I've had some feedback regarding my original plan to use the Sadol body, but even if I like the wide 16 cm shoulder I think colour matching is going to give me grief. Has anyone here got a Sadol body that they can take a picture with their Leeke? Would love to see it if you do.

My second choice is the Dollzone either B60-005 body or their taller 70 cm one. If anyone has a Dollzone and Leeke, or even better, this combination, I'd love some feedback. How do you find the resin matching and also does the head look weird on the body?

@pandajo thank you for your recommendation regarding Akagi doll, I've never heard of this co before but wow I'm impressed with their 66 cm body, so sexy, just right gaaah... any chance i could see a shirtless front and side photo of your Chris on your Akagi body?

 

@helene my Alex and my dreaming Rihael share the Leeke Solid Muscle body i got in the sale. the color match is still great even though the Alex head is from 2010 and the body is brand new. the Alex head is a little bit darker, probably like your oriental-skin match head, but with faceup it's not noticeable (and darker anyway). The Leeke body is single jointed, which i didn't realize. I knew the knees were, but the company pics made it look like the elbows were 3-parters :/. He stands like a rock though and has a fantastic slouch, and is slim and lanky. The hands are too veiny imo, but they're okay, and I'm planning on getting some EID normal hands to see if they can work instead.

I'm not sure how the resin match will work for you with dollzone, really. From what I hear, the new Dollzone white is a very pale ivory color which doesn't sound a lot like fresh skin. Dollshe fresh and DZ pink used to be kinda close-ish, which I figured out when I was trying to do a DIM hybrid, but I don't know how the new pink resin lines up. Have you considered spiritdoll? the normal would probably work well with the darker head, and I briefly had my alex on a friend's spirit doll proud body, and the size was nice -- but hers was the white resin so I can't say for sure. The white was a close match with the dollshe fresh Dollstown body i have though.

There's also the new Dollstown 17 boy body which might be good? It's not available right this second, AnjongHak is waiting on the first preorder to come in before putting it back up for sale with pictures of the final product, but it's smaller and slimmer than the giant 18 boy and has a three part body, and would be in dollshe resin colours.

resin matching is such a weird game. It's like trying to apply the commutative property to color samples, so many unknowns. this would be why it took me 6 years to put together my Alex, and in the end i just went with the company one despite its flaws @__@

I'm totally envious of your Rihael! He's been a grail dolls for a long time, and the dreaming version is cute, but... it's not quite the same thing lol. Someday i hope . Both of their faceups are fantastic, too!

 

@Lirin thank you so much for the pictures and the xtra info regarding Dollstown, i had not even considered them but it would totally make sense from resin matching perspective. Oh your Rihael looks sooo sweet and gentle, you've painted him wonderfully. There should be quite a lot of the original version floating around and i dont think he is that sought after so there is a good chance if you cast a WTB over at several social media platform, you will get something. I would use Facebook, Flickr or if you use instagram make a post with tag #bjdsales

Here are some photos I took of my Chris on his Akagi type 2 body! Really bad lighting though ^^; to be honest, the body is beauty and stands well (albeit a little prone to hip swaying) but I feel that the leeke head is too big for the body, plus the fact that the akagi body is rather slim to begin with! They have lovely hands though @helene

 

@pandajo uwaaah your chris is so adorable and his faceup is gentle and gorgeous. Thanks so much for the side shot too especially! I am seriously going to consider akagidoll now.

 

I just got a fantastic deal on a classy-doll 66cm boy body from the MP, so I can advice shortly on how that works with the Rihael head. Turns out I like the Rihael head well enough that I don't want to just keep it in storage most of the time. Also the classydoll body seems softer and more gentle which I prefer for that boyish head. And tbh i'm finding the Leeke body more limited than i was hoping in actual practice, so if this one works, I may end up eventually trying to track down a matching one to replace Auberon's body too. IDK, stability vs posability i the eternal question isn't it.... I always end up thinking i want the other one when i don't have it >.>

 

the classydoll 66cm boy body is here and it needs a little glue sueding (top chest joint and ankles) but it's pretty great for the Rihael head. It's a tiny bit shorter and rather slimmer than the L-type Solid Muscle, and honestly makes more sense with the boyish Rihael. Great natural slouch, too. He stands a little knock-kneed, and I'm not sure if they maybe put the thigh tops on the wrong sides (apparently happened to a couple people before) or it just is that way.... I kind of find it cute, actually lol! WAY more mobility than the Leeke body. Trade off is, of course, more stability issues.

the resin match is really really close though. CD is a little darker and more pink than the new Basic skin Rihael head, but with the faceup on you can't tell the difference. Pretty much perfect match with the older basic Alex, but he doesn't really work on the CD body, as it's too slim and narrow of shoulder for that giant head. Rihael/Mihael heads are known to be big, and the body is the right scale for that head, but the Alex head is noticeably bigger still (thus why i'm making him a custom wig, my 8/9 boy wigs pop back off!). So I guess I'm keeping both bodies after all

EDIT: .....And the lower leg piece has a crack. Because it was actually the shin pieces that were on the wrong sides and I guess it didn't fit as well the other way around. I've never had to repair a crack before... ugh. Body is still very cute and well engineered, but the production quality seems sloppy as hell.

 

I'd ordered some eyes for one of my other dolls and threw in some white eyelashes for Khale. The package finally came in and I had time to put the new eyelashes in Khale's head. I'm quite pleased with the way they look and I think they help to lighten up his eyes bit (more so than his default black lashes).

 

Annnnnnd Khale has a new wig. I really like the way this wig looks on him and the quality of it is excellent.

 

Hey guys! I'd love to buy Mihael and turn him into a girl. I have found several people talking about the same idea, but I haven't been able to find any pictures. Can you help me? I wonder which girl bodies will fit, since he has quite a big head. Thanks so much in advance!

 

@Iron_Dog You wouldn't be friends with Quiet and Insane by any chance, would you? XD The name "Khale" is one she's mentioned before as my boy has quite a similar name and she's accidentally said the other one before!

Funny thing about Khale's name.... I'm very particular about names. I can spend days or even weeks looking for the right one. Sometime they just come to me and other times.. frustration of epic levels. I won Khale as a fullset at Doll North through the charity raffle I'd entered on a whim. I fully intended to sell him to fund other doll purchases. But, in 3 days I knew his entire backstory, was looking for his hands (DZ armour claw) and searching for his lovers. While emailing with my doll bestie about him, I misspelled his sculpt name (Khal) several times in an email and she asked if that was his name. I said for now until I figure it out and it stuck and I can't picture him with any other name. Khale is also the one who started the entire Divine Worship world and the dolls I have in that world probably make up about 1/2 of my collection.

Hello everyone! I'm going to buy a Leekeworld Mihael very soon and I am already looking for a body for him. So far I really like the Dollzone bodies, but I don't know if the 62cm body or the 70cm body will fit better on him. There are just so many bodies to choose from I'm looking for something thats in the 65cm - 70cm range. Something that will fit with the head without modifying anything. The resin match doesn't need to match perfectly, but close enough.

 

I want to hybrid my Mihael head on a 5StarDoll Adult Male body, but I'm unsure if I should choose the pink NS or the yellow NS. I'm leaning towards yellow, because, well, he's older and has yellowed. But I'm still not quite sure. Any pointers? I'm sorry, I don't really know what I'm doing, aha ha...

My Rihael (same size as Michael) doesn’t fit any sd body cause of needing body with fat neck and large size of this heads. Put your attention on this point :3

 

This is a sample I got from 5Star in June of 2015 of their resin. It is a few years old so use it as a general guide only. The samples were $5 + shipping (I think my total was about $10). The arm piece is a FL from 2010. The photo turned out darker than they are in reality.

I could take a newer pic if you want with Khale's arm in the shot, but he is rose-white and from 2011 so I'd assumed he's mellowed. I have an OD boy in NY, but I got him 2nd hand in 2010 and have no idea how old he actually is. My other OD boy is WS from 2014. Saraf is my 5Star boy but he's also on the old body so I can't help their either with the head/neck ratio.

 

@R.A.Fortuna If it helps at all my Rihael is on an Iplehouse nYID body and it's a great fit!

 

Bumping this thread up as I'm looking for possible bodies for a Rihael ns head and things may have changed in the last year or so!
I did have a Mihael on a different body years ago before double jointed bodies became the norm. Sold him and have regreted it ever since.

 

I have my Rihael on an nYID Iplehouse body and it's a great fit!

 

My Rihael is on pure Dollshe. And it’s very good matching

I remembered what body it was I used to have, it was Demongarden which was also a great colour match back in the day but I know so many companies have come and gone and resin shades have changed over the years so I thought it best see how things stand now.

 

Finally! My Mihael has a face up and a body! He's currently on a 69cm Fantasy Doll body and shares it with my Bernard head. This is one of the best pictures I have of him so far! His name was Alex, but I've changed it to Damen.
