LatiDoll Yellow Discussion Part 4

Excellent post Rosebud, that really explains it all. Lati is getting dolls out, even a few a day is good. I wonder if this is why some gift bags haven't been shipped out yet, they are short on products to put in those bags & had to give elastic, eyelashes & magnets in some of the latest bags shipped.

 

Yes thanks Rosebud, great post! I kind of figured that was similar to how they did things. I've always wondered why bjd's in general are on the "make after the order" system. I guess there are a few companies that make them beforehand, I ordered a tiny from CastleAnne and got her in hand in less than two weeks, which shocked me to death.....LOL! Probably though, since it seems like a lot of the companies are family run businesses, they have a tradition in the way they do things. It definitely makes you want the little cuties all that much more! Maybe they also want to be very diplomatic about every order also.......like as in sending them out in the order the orders came in. That part is the only part that seems silly to me. I think if I had a pile of orders, I would separate them into "faceups" and "no faceups" that way the easy orders could be put together much faster and gotten out of the way.....leaving more time and room for the more complicated orders. It all sounds easy to figure out though, sitting way over here in the USA! I know I'd lose patience with all the tiny tiny limbs and eyes very very quickly........LOL!

I could seriously kick myself though, because right before ordering ended for the basic dolls last time, I had just started looking at Lati's and just couldn't commit to order one in time. Of course, the minute ordering was shut down, I had made up my mind and wanted to order desperately! Live and learn right?

I kind of like the idea of them staying small - I have been a customer of a few companies that have started off small, then just ruined their business by getting too big. Too many customers, too many mistakes, too long of a turn around time, and allowing too much customization! I'd like to see them allow year round ordering of their basics - similar to what fairyland does - that way there's not such a scramble and influx of orders when they open for sales of specials and limiteds.

 

Back when I first joined the hobby in 2003, many companies did have the dolls ready to go beforehand. (I remember ordering a doll from a company, waiting two whole weeks for it to be shipped, and being a bit worried that something had gone wrong, haha.) I think that to save time, money, and resources though, they switched to the method of making dolls after the order. Not to mention the fact that if you have unordered dolls sitting around, there is the risk of them aging/becoming yellowed before they ever get to their first home.
It makes more business sense with these dolls especially to make the dolls after they're ordered. But at the same time, it's a lot riskier for everyone, both the business and the customers, if something happens to slow or stop the process.

I too hope Lati would limit the special releases, but allow a small monthly basic order and follow the 40 or 50 days promise, at least for basics. I dont know how they are running still now with no income but lots of dolls to make and ship.. O_O;;

 

omigosh, i hope Latidoll take a year to start taking orders again!!!! i have been adopting left and right, with no apparent end in sight! can you believe i have 3 more dolls and a head on the way? i'm like seriously hoarding at this point

lisadragon, I love all your dolls!! Your girls are certainly lucky: Starbucks, no less!

I appreciate Lati's "personalized service", but the long wait does cause a lot of anxiety. Has anyone else experienced long spells between communications? I ordered a Lea head over the weekend but made a mistake in communicating method of payment, so I ordered (and paid for) a second Lea head and emailed them to get confirmation of the second order and cancellation of the first. I got an email saying they would confirm the second order asap and cancel the first, but four days later, both orders are still on my Lati order list. I don't mind if I end up with Lea twin (heads), but I am a little bit puzzled about how long it's taking to even just confirm the order.

After having read Rosebud's post and the experiences of the other ladies here, I'm guessing that the Lati people won't be attending to the paperwork on my order until they've gotten everybody else's earlier orders all straightened out. That's okay. I just hope I get my Lea head(s?) eventually.

 

Question: I know Lati has changed their Renewal body design several times over the years. Does anyone have comparison pictures of the bodies? Or can someone explain the differences to me? Thanks!

I would like limited releases to be 100 total full set with a two week run up, and at the end of the month when paydays are :P Also like you say, basics should be available more often, even if it's just un face-upped dollies...

I have definitely got 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 old style and 2010 new style bodies I'll try and take a photo tomorrow when I have light!

I may be wrong but I think earlier changes has been pretty small, like changes in the foot size?

 

yes, i agree with Lorentine, i don't think the differences are visually obvious until the newest body. the main difference seems to be skintone.

I compared the "after" pics to my new girl and the only difference is in the kneecaps, as far as I can see. The feet may be a different size, I just don't have anything to compare it to.

Yeah!! I am here!!! Just waiting for my mother in law to come over so I can pop out to 2 post offices to collect cat Lea, Sheep Lea and a wig I bought a while ago...all arrived this week! I can't wait for it!

Got the parcel, thought it was extremely small for a Halloween Cat Lea, because Lati usually ships BIG boxes. It turned out to be Lea's head I ordered in January. BUT my order list on Lati website is marked as Cat Lea shipped while Lea's head is preparing item. Sent them an email so they update my order list...don't want to receive 2 Lea heads and no Cat Lea. Don't know if to laugh or to cry!!

• Second parcel from big wig seller in the USA:

Got a charge of $22 in UK customs fee.
Didn't understand why until I got to see the parcel...I bought a pukifee wig for $28 and it was marked as $43.75 so she included shipping charges. Refused to take the parcel. Seller offered to pay customs charge. Hope she does...she hasn't sent me any payment yet .

So smitten...this calmed me down a LOT...Sheep Lea is here and she is absolutely perfect! Perfect eyelashes, all symmetrical all the same size, at the same angle...Oh I love this doll!!! Thanks for all the compliments for my vamp Lea! I had the blue wig for ages but it didn't suit my other dolls but I quite like my vamp with blue hair...

Posing is important to me, so the newest body is my fave. But I also think it's the prettiest, but that is a matter of taste and I'm sure there are as many opinions on this as there are lati owners

Glad it's helpful I think because I have so many, some will move out. I usually have number flux, especially with the Lati: I have to have a lot to decide which ones I actually want and need to have around me XD

Katie, I'm sorry I can't help: I've never been able to get money back from Lati fro ANYTHING and I've had two botched face ups over the years... good luck

Yes she is I think the camera I'm playing with softens the colours a little, but she's also an old old WS so it's a bit creamier than modern WS!

My older Pury is also of a more creamy WS, which is a very beautiful color IMO. Nowadays Lati WS is so screamingly white . The creamy color is also easier to photograph, I think.
