LatiDoll Yellow discussion part 3

sugarlump - I use the putty that you can use to tack up posters, photos, etc. There are many different kinds. One kind is Elmer's Tac 'N Stik. It is a putty. It is called a reusable adhesive. Hope you find some.

 

STILL have yet to order my Kuroo! I am partially hoping that my basic Coco ships before I order her so I can use my points towards her. As it is, I have shipping points as I orderd some socks and tights and they charged me $46.00 as an error even after I combined them with the basic order! I must say though, they were a lot quicker to answer my question about it and give me refund points than I thought so I am happy!

I am also still on the fence about whether or not to get her NS or WS....any thoughts from anyone? Kuroo seems pale to me already...hmmm. At least I have it narrowed down to the one I can't live without! LOL!

 

i am secretly hoping for the same: points and shipping for my vampires before i order. as for WS/NS, the new NS is pretty pale which is why their promo pics often look WS when the doll has a dark faceup/hair. for me, WS is like the one special doll that i want to look very different. so far my only 2 WS LY are vamp Lumi and Lea. i'd say NS is a "safer" bet, but it's all about personal taste

i'm glad you figured out the wig kate2kate. in my mind i was visualizing pulling the cap in the back, but didn't exactly verbalize it my wigs get messy over time, too (in that style) sometimes you can lightly lift up the parts pulled back and smooth the flyaways back under. on one wig i eventually just took the thread out and let it all fall down

wow, nid_vide it seems kinda weird seeing pirate Lea in NS. i keep thinking it's photoshop! you picked a perfect faceup for Miel. did Lati actually use the choices you picked?

I am trying really hard to resist the halloween dollies - will see how well I'll hold when the closing dates is coming closer. Until then I have my gorgous little Teddie to keep me company, and of course, a little vampie on the way soon *crossing fingers and toes*

Great!! Another tip is to use a toothbrush to brush the wig, and style it, they are quite resilient, it's just a case of getting used to them.

I think the wig is still a little on the small side so I am going to look into the monique wigs. Any other besides the JoJo you like?

I think I remember reading somewhere to line the wig with tape or use a latex glove finger cutoff as a wig cap. Which of these methods work better.

What a great picture. So far I have not ordered yet. I am not sure I should. I am wondering if I should wait for the Christmas release. But will I kick myself when they come out?

 

I put a small blob of Macks Silicone Ear Plugs (which is the most fabulous stuff for eye putty too) on the top of the head and press the wig down on it. It doesn't take much. The wig will stay until you pull it off and the putty comes right off the top of the head and the wig cap and is ready to be reused. Its also great for putting on the bottoms of feet (or shoes) to help them stand and also to put in their hands to help them hold stuff.

 

What type of place do I look for Macks silicone ear plugs?

while we are on the topic of eyes. can someone please tell me what type of eyes to get? I have seen round, oval etc... I have wasted money on wigs. I had bought other wigs than RR and they were really bad I don't want to waste money on eyes.

Walmart, Target, Walgreens...I bought mine at Walgreens and it was with other earplugs, chapstick, etc. You'll want to get the clear kind and not colored.

 

Kate - I find that lining the head with a cap takes up room - room that Lea just can't afford with her big head! I prefer oval eyes and buy mine off ebay, although I did buy a pair of handcrafted glass eyes which cost a lot more, and tbh I can't really see a huge difference. You can spend whatever you wish on eyes, from a couple of $ to $50+ and unfortunately I think 'wasting money' is part of the trial and error of the hobby, what someone else thinks is perfect, you may not etc etc...

Wow! You guys have been busy whilst I was asleep. I love waking up to so much chat and lovely pictures!!
Kate2Kate I also found out the hard way that buying wigs was an expensive and annoying part of the hobby. It does take time to find the right wig (and eyes) but once you are on the right track it makes the hobby so much more fun. As annoying as the shipping cost is for one wig, I have bit the bullet on more than one occasion and ordered direct from Lati or Fairyland in order to get a wig that I love. The right wig really can make a huge difference with getting the look we want for our dolls.
sugarlump In Australia the alternate option for putty would be blu-tac! You can buy it in white and it is what I use all the time.

Dollightful your Belle looks wonderful with her side glancing beautiful big brown eyes! I have been using that technique on a few of my dolls since seeing yours!! It is amazing just how different the doll can look with new eye gazes, wigs, eyes etc etc.......
I haven't heard anything from the seller I bought My Pirate Belle from since paying for her. I always get worried spending so much money on ebay when the seller doesn't communicate. I might have to message her and get confirmation. I'm sure its fine but until the doll actually gets here it is always on my mind that something can go wrong........

PrincessStarburst - It is fun to see different looks on the dolls. That is the thing about bjd's. Although, sometimes it can be expensive to try new things. I don't buy many wigs, really. I don't have any extra eyes. I do need to spend a bit more for things, but I find I always want a new doll.
I just purchased an outfit on Etsy today though. Luv them.
Anyhow. I am glad I inspired you to try out eye glances. I have had my vampire Lami in an upward glance before. She looked rather cute that way too.

My Twila has come out to haunt for Halloween, whilst sheep Cookie has gone back to visit her elf sheep land. Halloween is too scary for her.

I haven't paid for extra eyes for her. So she just uses Jasper beads. It works for a vampire look.
Scary.

I need help, I cannot get into my q/a to read what Lati wrote to me. It says my password verification does not match?
This has never happened to me before on their q/a. I even posted another question to them & double checked it & my password
works just fine. Its just that one question that I cannot log in to read. Has anybody ever had this happen to them?

Update: got it resolved, it was a system glinch.

I chose what I thought would look good but wasn't entirely sure so told Lati to use their own judgment and do what they thought best to give my Miel a beautiful face-up. They pretty much followed what I chose but definitely painted to their own taste. They are very good at what they do, so I didn't want to stifle their creativity. By the way, your little vamp is adorable!

Seriously, after seeing how pale my NS pirate Lea is, I doubt I'll ever order WS again, unless I'm ordering a vamp, of course!

Matera, I am glad you resolved the Q/A issue with Latidoll. I have never, right from the start, been able to log on to get my replies. I get the "wrong passoword" message, so everytime I have to ask for them to reply to my email, which they do!

as for the lati site, I can never access the site on my iPhone... I always get told my password is incorrect! But at home on the main computer it works first time.... Strange!

Maddy, Lati is pretty good at answering emails & last night they rocked the q/a. I guess they have schedules on when one person can sit down & answer q/a & emails & it looks like only one person does that at a time. As for my q/a, I threw something wild out there & wind up saving my sons $48 last night in shipping fees.
I wish we had a Halloween meet, we have IDEX here in January, I went a few times but don't know if I will go next year. If Lati were to be at that show I would be there heartbeat & before the doors opened! I would even reactivate my dealer's license just to
get in on the first day! But they don't do that show, at least not yet. I am considering though, going to Hong Kong next year for their big show, they sell past editions & it would be fun to go to. Never been to Hong Kong & I've always wanted to go there.
Are any of you going to IDEX?

is the e-mail address on their website correct?
cause I've been sending their e-mail several times but never got the reply so...

 

I now put "please respond" in the subject section. I didn't before & sometimes my emails would be ignored but ever since I put that there all of my emails get answered. I also back my email up with a q/a that asks them to please check their email.

 

Looks like i'm not the only one desiring one of those treasure island monkeys! Eeeeps they look so much cuter than in the promo pics....

Have there been any more updates on dolls shipping? Does anyone know if all the pirates have finished shipping yet? Looking forward to the next lot, but obviously hoping everyone has their pirates now!

Believe it or not, I asked a question on Lati today and they already answered. I guess they're serious about improving customer service.

I have only been in the hobby for a couple of months but already I am addicted to these beautiful girls. I am SO jealous of all of you who are getting some halloween kids! I love the cat lea and belle! I wish I had the funds to buy more!! I got injured pretty badly earlier this year, and my husbeast bought me two dolls already this year- so I don't want to push my luck!

How many lati's do you all have? I am interested in knowing how many girls I would need to have before I satiate the lati drool syndrome. I am hoping for some tan girls maybe for christmas time so I won't feel so bad missing out now.

Weecherie, your Suki is adorable! I just starting buying the Latis yellows in late 2008, I have 10 on order & 9 at home.
I just love them & it would be nice to see winter tans again for Christmas. Elves would also be good.

I probably have the least amount of Lati here so far. I did have two but sold one because I couldn't bond with a boy character. At home I have Lati Ninja Lami and I am waiting on Tan Pirate Belle, Tan Mystic Lea and Mystic Pury. I really can't cope with more than ten dolls in my entire collection and I have other dolls apart from Lati! so I think it will have to be a pretty special lati to make me buy more..........

She truly is a sweetie, and I've loved her immencly since she arrived this summer
