What is the average wait time for a Lati basic?

 

I preordered Artic Friends Mina in peach white and normal skin tones from Doll Peddler. My first Latidolls. I was surprised to see her, so I did not hesitate. I have been admiring Lati since the Cinderella release. I think all of them are adorable. I usually just look and never order.

 

Wow @Sheyda, you weren’t kidding about the new “normal.” I thought Mina was the new normal and thought it’s not that bad, but I just got Berry and she’s very pink? Orange? It photographs well and I’m not unhappy with her, but it is surprising. Also, I lost my sense of smell from COVID and never smelled the new resin smell on my first two dolls but it was definitely there this time. Again not a problem but it was surprising. Edit: I had time and decent light for a better pictures today so here she is going on a Starbucks run with Bear.

 

Oooh, she’s still so cute!! I love her adorable outfit and little car. I can’t wait to see photo stories of her with your little Mina!
But yeah, that resin color really caught me a bit off guard when I saw it in real life. It’s very saturated! Lol.

 

I borrowed the car from my daughter, I don’t have a lot of props yet since I’ve focused on dolls and clothes for them. I need to take a picture of Mina and Berry together in normal lighting with no filters to show how drastic it is.

 

Here’s the resin comparison between Mina who was made in 2019 and Berry made in 2021. Berry is darker than my iplehouse with peach gold skin tone.

 

I love the new skin! It keeps getting better each time.

 

Do you think the color is to help it not yellow as much?

 

@NineOneThree They are so cute. I love the little beanie with the heart and overalls. I think having different skin tones is fun to collect.

 

I love the wigs on your doll babies, would you mind telling me where you got your doll stands? My Happy took a face plant today and I want to avoid that in the future.

 

Lati skin color keeps getting worse and worse each time, I miss their old skin colors from long ago

 

Luckily you can find many secondhand older dolls still. I think the majority of customers love the new color so they will keep it

I purchased the doll stands from an Etsy seller who is no longer selling them. The stands I bought were actually a bit too tall (10cm), so I recommend going a size lower. Nomyens appears to be selling ones made just for Lati Yellow So I would recommend these!

Yeah, it’s so orange! It should be sold as “Peach Skin” so that customers know what to expect.

 

I agree it should be sold as peach or something of that nature. I wonder if they changed the normal so they could add more resin color options or since the pigment fades maybe it is so it will yellow slower. I personally don’t mind the new normal and if it’s has more red pigment I know it will fade over time.

 

I hope that’s the case! Though I worry that as the red pigment fades, the yellow-y color will just get more intense/prominent since there’s so much of it in there already. I wish we could see reference pictures of yellowed peach-skin dolls.

But I do think you’re right in that Lati probably made the new NS into a peach color to differentiate it from their newer PW color.

 

I don't have a Lati doll yet, but it makes me excited to see the two different skin tones.

 

I just received a Sophie today and the shimmer on her face is not even sealed. It’s coming off on my finger!! Lati what are you doing??
Luckily I’ll be sending her for new faceup anyways but still, that’s not good!

Wow, that’s disappointing. I heard they aren’t too helpful in situations like this, I hope that’s not true.

I took a new picture of Berry, her eyes needed adjusting and I’m still learning what looks right. The outfit and shoes I ordered for her are still not here but she’s still cute. I also have different eyes coming that may suit her better.

has anyone seen the new lati coming out next couple of days, I only want the lati white T.Hana only. I wish lati will bring out some older face mold than continue making new faces. The new faces looks like some of the other lati and I can't tell them apart anymore LOL. i also wish lati will only produce 2 dolls or so , during an event bec. seriously I don't even have money to buy 2 or 3 lati. I can only choose one.

 

I am in love with Anna and I need Mia in the pink skin. I’m scared to order from Lati because of the wait but I can’t risk trying to find them secondhand. This is the first event since I joined here that I absolutely NEED!

 

wait time is about 6 months more or less, use to be over a year but now its 6/7 months which is better. I have ordered Salon de lati yellow dolls and I just got it so its good. Now I only want T. Hana bec. the rest look like some of what i have already , I am having difficulty telling them apart now. I like ordering for lati bec. I get points also when I do layaway at Doll Peddler they charge more so its better to buy from Lati.

 

Oh yeah, there are sooo many faces now, I think they can only do so much to a face before they all look the same. My collection is small so I haven’t gotten to that point yet 6 months isn’t bad! I was expecting a lot more. It seems like most doll companies are around 6 months now anyways.
However when I just made my account I spelled my name wrong. Wahhh! I don’t know how to fix it

 

You might have to make a new email and account on Lati. I don’t know how it happened but my last name isn’t on my account and so my last doll from them only had my first name on the shipping label. My stupid post office made a big deal and almost sent it back but luckily I caught it in time. I wrote on the q&a board and they didn’t change it so I guess I have to make a new account.

Where do you see the new ones? I only see the under the sea ones when I go to the Lati site.

 

My laptop saved my old account info for Lati's site when I was tempted to order so I will just use that one instead.

also @chinadoll, can you explain the points to me?

 

everytime you buy you will get points i think lati does 10% of your purchase and you can use those points to purchase your next doll but you will only get those points when your dolls ships out already. When doll ships out leave a Q&A on lati board to tell them to give you points cause lati does not automatically does it.

 

Anna, T.Hana, and Mia are all super cute! I probably won’t order because I’m just starting renovations on my house which I’m excited for, but I won’t have extra money for dolls until we are finished.

 

Anyone know what’s the story of “Latisland”? Is it just a cute name for island theme or is there an actually well known story that I’m missing?

 

I read it as Lati’s Land but now I see the word island meshed with Lati. It’s cute but now I wonder too how they came up with it.

My bodies from Lati arrived a while ago, but I'm wondering about the NS - it's so orange... I originally wanted to pair it with a PKF headback I have floating around, but the colour difference is huge. I did look at owner pictures before I ordered the body, but the natural skin didn't seem so very orange in the pictures I saw.



Is this new? If it's the standard Lati skin, I might be better off ordering another body for the headback, and a head for the Lati body.

 

There is a discussion about the normal skin in another recent Lati Yellow discussion. It looks like they changed it this year. My Berry is the new one and it doesn’t show up that much in pictures unless I show her next to an old one.

 

To jump off what @NineOneThree posted, here's a comparison of an NS Sunny from 2017 vs an NS G.Yuri from 2021. They did make this new NS very very orange. >.<

 

I just placed my order but I didn’t get a confirmation from Lati and it’s not showing up in the order list. Is this normal? Anyone have the same issue?

 

You have to post on their Q&A to notify them of your purchase. It's a very informal system, lol. When you write the message, specify your order #, your email address, and what you ordered. They will then confirm your order and update your orderlist.

 

My questions didn’t show up on their board. OMG!!! I’m freaking out..

Your order won't show up in the orderlist until after they see your message on the Q&A. They'll probably reply to it on Monday in their timezone, so if you're in the US, I'd check late Sunday night or early Monday morning for order confirmation.

So what did you order? Did you get Anna? She's sooo cute!! I'm so tempted to get her.

 

I got Anna with her wig, and Mia head in pink with pink body, wig and makeup! Can’t wait!! Hopefully they come just in time for Christmas maybeeee?

 

I would say Jan/Feb next year, not Xmas. If Dec. that is great but i doubt it. I also ordered and Monday it will show up on my orderlist.

 

Ooh yay! And right?? Though I'm kind of worried about any order I make arriving at Christmas, because I'll be out of town!

I'm tempted to buy that G.Yuri in PW since this looks like my only chance to get her in that resin color. I'm not crazy about her faceup... but I'd deal with it later, haha. I'm thinking about adding on a body for that Mia. I don't think I'd keep her though, and sell her at a small profit to cover my shipping costs. Not sure whether pink skin or peach white would sell easier.

Also, what was your shipping cost for two dolls?

 

Shipping was $65. I was expecting more so I’m not mad at that price

I was only going to get T. Hana fullset but I also really like the fullset of Mia so end up with both LOL. I like to buy fullset as much as possible this way I am more picky when I am buying doll. And I have accumulated lots of points that I did not use for long time so I end up paying less when i buy both.

The really old Lati normal skin is quite pale. I can't even tell the difference between old white and normal skin any more as the white is sort of creamy (or has yellowed a bit) and the normal skin has faded so that they look almost the same now.

I wonder whether the PW would be a better match to PKF natural skin.

I do like Anna, but I also like the Elly mystic head. And my head is saying that I shouldn't get any new dolls until the ones I have are dressed and all have proper shoes... (Then again, my heart is saying that there's plenty of time to dress the others while I wait. LOL!!)

 

Right, sadly they have all yellowed and degraded by now...
Beyond the normal skin, I feel like their new white skin is so unusually bluish but I am hoping the blue fades into a slightly more creamy color
I think what happened is when Lati started to focus on appealing more to international customers, they changed the skin to a very orange-y tan which is what westerners seem to like, along with their peach skin and other colors. They don't even update their domestic or Japanese website. They primarily sell to foreigners and it is really obvious with their current skin colors, makeup, style, etc... which I am not a fan of. Personally, I like the super pale white skin or the slightly yellowish pale skin so it's hard to see a company that I loved (and the first BJD company I liked) go further and further away. Because its not like they just added skin colors, they completely got rid of the old ones.
This is probably a really controversial opinion, but this is why I do not like when BJD companies (or companies in general) appeal to overseas customers, because it changes their brand so much. Even with non-doll items, it is a common pattern where when many companies start focusing on overseas sales over domestic ones, the quality and style dramatically changes.
