LA Volks Tea Party on 8-5-2006

Jun 25, 2006

    1. Oh! I really like your dolls, Aimee :D I know I complimented you before on your girl, but I definitely noticed you carrying your boy around that day :)

I hope I can attend the next tea party in LA, I wouldn't mind gettin' Tin Geet tightened for playing.

    2. I understand the emotion thing. I never would have expected any of this. Someone asked me what I can remember about what Mr Shigeta said during the ceremony. I can't remember much. If you can, would you mind pm'ing me with what you remember? If the other people who had this ceremony wouldn't mind helping me, please do.

I need to take a new pic of my Kazu after the ceremony. He has a little smile now and his eyes seem deeper, more lifelike. The pic I have on here is a crummy one and looks like a mug shot!

    3. The things I remember....

We were blowing life into the doll by way of smoke from the candles.
This ceramony was to bond your doll to you for the rest of your life.
This doll has come into your life to share your aspirations.
Everyone who attended the ceramony as guests were obviously there for some special cosmic reason.

The rest I was blubbering through. T.T

I loved meeting new people and seeing old friends. I think that is truly what makes these events special. I'm glad I finally got to meet Aimee this year. Last year it was just a quick passing. I enjoyed meeting the new collectors that attended (songblade) and the fact that she was graced with a one-off to help her start her collection. (What a wonderful way to get into Volks, ne?)

It all went too quickly. I went home early because I felt a little burned out by the end of it all. (I was sewing for 2 weeks straight, and planning a doll convention, and travelling while talking about dolls, and then going to a party about dolls...) It all just kind of wore me out at once. That doesn't mean I didn't have the most fun of my life doing it though!

    4. Vicki, I don't know if you have the issue of Haute Doll that covered my trip to Tenshi No Sato...? I put the whole ceremony text in that article. ^____^

I did my omukae right after Cassiel had hers at Sato... I think we both got teary! So it's not silly! obviously, these dolls are special to us, huh? I felt like my Violet MSD was more special to me after I had the ceremony done with her.

Kelly - haha! I bought a candle set (the same style as the incense sets) from Sato when I was there, I still haven't used it. It's adorable, and reminds me of my trip but I can't seem to bear to use it up! haha! maybe I should just use it. :P

      songblade, thanks so much! :D

    5. I used mine! It was too cute to just leave sitting there!

I've only burned one stick though. I certainly will be taking my time to use the rest of them. XD

    6. I should have taken a picture of my set before I used it :( But the bunny is just too cute! i've only burned one stick as well, it smelled nice :) I should also take a picture of the girly necklace I got, my boy dolls hate it XD

    7. I was so thrilled to go. My boyfriend and I made a cross country trip out of it and so I just got home today. I was happy to be able to attend at all, but the doll gods smiled on me and I won Black Cat Lucas in Bingo!!!! I couldn't believe it when Mr. Shigeta told me what was on the paper. He kept saying "You are a very lucky girl" and all I could do was smile and say "thank you" a billion times. Mikey was so nice too because I asked her "Can I take him now?" and she laughed and said "Of course!" I'm still on cloud nine about it. I really wanted a Sei Tenshi but I sooooo cannot complain! I was dying for the One-Off Jun as well but after the money for the trip there was no way I could enter for her.

    8. Congrats Kittybongo ^^ That's such an awesome prize.

    9. Thank you! I still can't believe it! :daisy

Oh and for those who asked, my goodie bag had a pair of crown earrings and my boyfriends (which is now mine of course) had a "diamond" ring. :)

    10. oh wow, so lucky, kitty!! LLooks like your trip was well worth the effort!

    11. I got an adorable little pearl necklace with a little crown charm. Alisa loves it. ^_^v (Well, it's only fair she gets it, she's the only girl and she didn't get to go to the party, just the store the next day. ^_^; ) The incense is really cute! There seemed to be two different versions of it, the one with the little ceramic bunny and a different one in a multi-layered box that had a little cherry blossom-shaped holder and had some cones of it as well as the sticks that a couple of people in our car got. I got the one with the cute bunny. ^^ I'm going to save it and use it for when my MSD boy comes home, and me and Ephram will light a stick of it and do our own private little welcoming ceremony. ^_^v

I cried at the ceremonies a little myself and I didn't get to do one, so nobody feel bad about that! It was really touching... Hehe, even just by proxy it was special and I felt so much closer to Ephram just sitting there holding him and watching! So much joy all around for everyone. ^_^

I hope they do another one! (But not too soon, the bank needs to recover! Little resin minx, it's all that sunlight F-09's fault! He just had to look good next to Ephram and make up my mind for me!) I had so much fun, I'm still bouncing from excitement! ^_^v *dance*

      Though now I get the torture of staring at Nai's outfit until he gets here... X3;;;

      I want to make an entire thank you book, never mind a card! XD;;;

    12. Thanks Lizzie for your memories. I remembered a little less : ( so I will take notes for myself now to really remember it as best I can.

And Aimee, thanks I'll look for the ceremony in HD. I know I have it here somewhere.

    13. Hope this is ok to post here ^^; My one-off (the F-05 boy) is for sale, for anyone who wanted him. He needs someone who loves him more than I do T__T

    14. ummm... i'm kinda sad to say this, but i didn't get jewelry (necklace, ring, etc...) in my gift bag, other than incense box and card. didn't know we got anything else until read on here and a friend who also came asked. i'm not sure if i should say anything to them cause its a gift...

    15. youre right. it was a gift, and who complains about a gift?

you could try contacting them about it, but i personally wouldnt do it. besides, the tea party was the highlight of the day. not the free gift.;)

    16. Very well said! I couldn't agree more, just being able to go to the teaparty was a wonderful gift in itself. <3

    17. I didn't get a gift at all ;) Of course, I left early... XD

    18. I also wouldn't say anything.. the gifts did vary.. some people got incense boxed..others got incense but without a box..just in a plastic bag (that's what I got.) Perhaps they ran out of jewelery or just forgot to put it in one. Either way I wouldn't say anything.. it isn't like we paid to get in under assumption we would get jewelry (if that was the case you could say something.) It was a gift..and it would be rude to complain about a gift..and actually when Mikey annouced the gifts at the end she only annouced the incense..perhaps because not all goody bags had jewelry in them?

    19. I missed the goodbye to the guests... what was said?

    20. just a note... for those of you who were able to have omukae,... normally the president doesn't perform that ceremony, (even in Japan, and even when he is present at the ceremony!) so you were extra lucky!

ian - that's a neat idea about using the incense when your MSD comes home! Maybe I will do that too for when my FCS finally arrives! It's a fun thing to look forward to!

    21. I didn't know that until after mine was over. If I had, I don't know if I could have kept it together. But, Shigeta-san is so sweet and kind, he never made me feel like it was an unusual situation. I feel very, very lucky!:D

    22. Yes, I was told that and it did make it all that much more special. Mr. Shigeta showed so much emotion during the ceremonies which just WOWED me. His love for his company and his dolls just makes me love not only the dolls, but the company, and the family even more. Yes, I'm a Volks Groupie and proud of it .

Vicki also awaiting new FCS. Is it November yet?

    23. I was very surprised when I received a letter from Mickey yesterday, she is so sweet. She was thanking me for coming to the event and for the gift I gave her.
She also sent me a couple of pictures, one of the new Shirou school boy and one of her with me and her brother. Her father also signed the letter. What a sweet family!!!!

    24. I got a letter too, and a photo :) THey're a really cool company and family!
