LA Volks Tea Party on 8-5-2006

Depending on exact date, I may be able to organize a trip from Sacramento-area to LA for this o.o Depends on if I am visiting home or not.

 

Hmm, dad has promised me a trip down south later this year. I wonder. >3

 

Oh man >___> My family is taking two big trips in August... I really, really hope this tea party falls on one of the weekends we're at home.

Depending on the date and whether I can go, I suppose I really should hold off on ordering a MF Shiwoo :'D

 

Maybe you can come with me if we can work the date out -.- It really depends on if I'm gonna be up North or not.

I'm assuming that we're going to have to be subscribers to attend this one too - any idea on the date by which subscription must be ordered? I'd really like to attend this one.

I really want to go but I don't know how I would get there I don't want to drag my BF down to So-cal for something he isn't interested in. My good friend who collects BJDs doesn't have any Volks. I don't have a car and don't want to fly down by myself..hmm.. But I'm really determined this time so hopefully I can figure something out *crosses fingers*

 

Ooo, so close yet so far! I could make it down there and back in the same day by plane, though I don't know if I want to go traipsing around LA alone. And a plane ticket's a lot of $$ for me too. I'll have to think about it. ^_^

New FCS heads though, I am intrigued! I wonder if they are making some of the Sato exclusives available at the Sumikas, of if these are new FCS heads entirely? Can't wait to see them!

 

Hmmm..So tempting but, I will be unable to go. Which doesnt bother me *so* much, I dont have any volks dolls. ^_^;

 

Wow. This could be really nice. Though I'm worried it will be too close to DragonCon for me to attend. It would be really nice to bring Chiara and Annabel to the event (Chiara was adopted the weekend after the store opened...we couldn't make it the weekend before without taxing our vacation).

 

Double ditto, I'm going back to Indonesia in August! Hopefully it'll be before I leave...

So you know, I'll be driving from here down if you don't want to buy a plane ticket. Since you're in Davis it shouldn't be a problem to car pool!~ I plan on staying a couple days in San Diego and going to the zoo as well, but do not want to miss the volks party!!

The FDQ stuff has to do with the party in NY. Separate entities entirely. The tidbit on August just happened to be snipped from that conversation..somewhat out of context, of course.

In short, no subscription to FDQ necessary for the LA thing

And yeah, wouldn't mind knowing how to get that invite either

 

FDQ has nothing to do with the 'SD Owners Appreciation Fair' happening at the VOLKS Mansion on August 5th. VOLKS has it advertised with their add in the July issue of magazine.
Just wanted to clear that up (so you don't need to be a subscriber of FDQ to attend). According to the copy the program consists of a Tea Party / One Off Model Raffle etc ...
They'll be posting more info on their site.

Yes you do. Three in fact. Mad Magazine for a sense of humor, National Geographic for perspective, and Scientific American for a clue.

I did not appreciate the 'stupid' magazine comment. If you don't like our magazine or any magazine for that matter, then don't buy it. If you have seen it and read it and wish to critique it, offer suggestions to improve it or make it more to your liking, then I'm all ears.

Noriko FDQ is a really good magazine...their photography is awesome and they don't write little simple tutorials of things to do like other dolls magazines do. They have nice articles too.

I know, I was one of the first subscribers and somehow my subscription disapeared and I never received a renewal or notice or the last magazine... But, I was not critisizing any magazine, I was just making a general comment of being forced to spend money that I don't really want to right now.

I'd love a definite date too. My mom and I always try to do something for my birthday in August, and I'd love to go. She just needs enough notice to get it off of work and so we can get a hotel room.

 

I wonder if the invitations are going to be based on if you're a Volks doll owner and/or have bought from the LA Sumika.

I doubt it would be based on whether you bought a doll from the LA store, but it will definitely be based upon whether you are a Volks doll owner.

I think that in order to enter the lottery for first Tea Party (the opening of the LA store) you had to have registered your doll with the Super Dollfie Owner's List.

Edit: the registry for the Super Dollfie Owner's List is only open for certain periods (I know the last one was announced in the News section).

 

Which... I still can't figure out how to do D: I've got my Tony, and I'd love to register, but I can't figure out how.

 

They only have registration available at certain times.. I think its closed right now.

 

It used to be open at the beginning of each month, maybe try it in a couple days.

 

I think I am doomed to miss these things! But this time, I don't even get to go sit in a park down the street from the Mansion and take photos, since I'll be flying to Atlanta the day before. Sheesh!

I think they're just introducing the new options that day - they should be available from then onward. Kind of like the grand unveiling. =^^=~~*

 

Wow... I just took a look at Volks' LA blog, and they had a picture of what must be some of their new FCS heads. They had elf ears!! Do you think that they're designed for optional ears like some of the MSD heads? That'd be so cool!!

If they put sunlight skin option at Sumikas my life would be complete

 

It'll be great if they'll provide tan skinned dolls since that's what I'm intending to buy from them. Now I just need the head and sitting body. Come on MSD F17!

 

I hope they don't get rid of F-16, and I hope they do have Sunlight skin at the Sumika T_T I'm soooo curious I'm going to explode. The tan elf on the banner has a such a cute headmold, i wonder if there is a human-version :0

 

I second this, I really hope they won't get rid of any heads or some of my future plans may be messed up.

 

I second this on both counts. I can't imagine that they'd want to get rid of the F-16, though, since it's one of the most popular heads.

Makes perfect sense. ^^ Although, even if they do keep the F-16, that pretty tan boy on the right might be my perfect Tien instead. . . he's so sweet looking.
