LA Volks Tea Party on 8-5-2006

It's not too late, I just don't know how I would get them to everyone. The NYC nametags were mailed to people I think...

Give me the go if you want me to design some though. I'm leaving Thursday, so I need to know ASAP.

Ah, just to confirm, so no one is going to bring non-Volks dolls? I will most likely be getting my doll in this week, and... wonder if he'll be ready to show off anytime soon

 

Volks has made it clear how they feel about other companies' dolls. To bring one to a Customer Appreciation thing that they're throwing for us would be colossally tacky, not to mention rude.

 

Just not bringing them to the party or the store. I'll probably be bringing one or two non-Volk's dolls.

yeah, i saw some people brought non-Volks dolls to the Tea Party in NYC. i`m sorry, but please please don`t bring non-Volks dolls to Volks Tea Party.. you`re hurting their feeling. ;_;

 

LOL I won't I won't XD I hope my dolll comes in this week at all @.@ Also have no idea how to carry him around without damaging (i don't have a bag big enough) and yarg, worry worry.

 

Last year, I didn't see any doll carriers at all. People just carried their dolls in their arms and then set them on the outdoor tables. I brought a carrier, but when I saw everyone walking up to the house with dolls in their arms, I just left the carrier in the car.

 

I brought mine, but hid it behind my chair. There seemed to be plenty of room to tuck carriers out of the way.

 

I don't think I saw any Non-Volks dolls at the NY Tea. People brought some out in the gatherings at the Gershwin and elsewhere, though. ^_^

 

if I get him this week, I'll leave him in my trunk. ^_^;; poor baby.

 

i`m sorry, but i had a conversation with at least one of them.. i wanted to make sure and asked the girl 'who`s she??' and she answered 'she`s [insert other company`s doll name here]'. again, i`m sorry that i mentioned it.. but i`m not lying. ;_;

If your new baby isn't Volks, he/she can come to our afterparty. =D He can sit inside the car though! No need for the trunk!

A note about the carriers, there evidentally was a room last year for us to put them. Kelly and I just slid them under our chairs.

 

Yes, they have a coat room where you can check jackets and baggage.

I don't know how many dolls to bring! I want to bring them all... meh.

 

I was just on mapquest trying to get directions from LAX to the Volks Mansion but for some reason mapquest isn't allowing me to use the Volks Mansion address?? Any tips on how to get there?

Anyone need a ride from Sacramento area? I'm just checking because we have a couple of free spaces in my van >D We'll be leaving at like 4 AM on Saturday, though... so I'm not sure how keen anyone is on that!

 

We have been discussing meeting at the Embassy Suites after. Everyone should bring some sort of food or drink item to share. There is a post about it in the meet-up section.

My SO and our dolls will leave probably on red-eye to get down to the LA area. Today will be work, then going home to get the Kids all done up. Two of them need eye changes and all of 'em need a bath. At least they won't argue over the matter!

 

Ohgod, that would be the best ever if it rained XD Only not. I love the rain, but soaked dollies would be a bad thing.

The weather was nice and sunny today, not as hot as the last heat wave. The Palos Verde area will be cooler than Los Angeles since it's by the coast ^ ^

 

I'm excited and ready to jump out of work! I wanna see everyone's dolls! And I kinda miss mine... I have a lot of questions to ask everyone ^^;;

 

I'm so excited! I can't believe it's tommorw already!!!

 

AH I cant wait! I'm putting the finishing touches on all the outfits right now (taking a break!) I have to get up early tommorow I guess I should pack everyone up tonight so I wont be rushed in the morning. I finaly decided what to wear! *is so amazed* My Hello Kitty skirt and a Meta shirt, yay!
What time is everyone thinking of leaving for the mansion?

 

Aah, I'll be at the hotel, I HOPE by 11:30am so I can chill in the visitor's parking for a while. My party will be leaving the Embassy around 12:00 or 12:15.

 

I can't wait to see everyone too as well, I'll be leaving at 10:00 am to get to LA from Orange, CA. I think there will be lots of traffic since were going to be near the cost on the weekend. Beach Traffic.

 

I'll be volunteering at the Tea, but I hope I'll still have time to see everyone's dolls and take lots of photos

Well this isn't a Dolpa, it's just a tea party, and you don't have to own anything from Volks to attend this tea party (others have been different). Also, the only thing you have to do to attend a Dolpa is buy the guide book

Did anyone else not recieve their tickets yet? Because mine still haven't come. ;___; I got the notice from Volks that i got tickets and they would be sending them, but they still haven't shown up. I'm not quite sure what to do, besides print out the email they sent me and take that. Any suggestions?​

I thought the party was okay. It wasn't up to my tastes... I was kinda bored and disappointed because there wasn't much to do most of the time. After taking photos for an hour, I didn't know what else to do but just wait for things to happen. Didn't mingled with people when I don't know anyone visually to my knowledge. However, everyone else seemed to had a great time.

The bingo game was so nerve-wrecking. My boyfriend had like 3 reaches (?) during the bingo game and didn't got anything. (He was the one cheering loudly when any person got a pack of postcards as a prize... He was actually hoping to get some. He's strange that way.) Bad luck or God punishing him maybe? ^^; Congrats to all of you who did got something. It was so crazy.

I liked that everyone got little goodie bags at the end. Totally made my day. What are those cone shaped thingies in the cylinder box? Seems like some scented thing for a room. Also, what accessories that you guys got? I got crown earrings! Kinda big for my Bee-a but cute nonetheless. ^__^

 

I had a great time! The weather was great, the people were great and the food was great! Eveyone had such lovely dolls and those new elves were so cool! Whomever said that there was nothing to do, doesn't know how to party! LOL
I hardly knew anyone there, but I just talked to people. It's easy to strike up a conversation when everyone there has the same thing in common: dolls! The people watching was interesting too! There were several people in costume even.

 

Those would be insense ...incense... in.. whatever. LOL! I got a little bunny and a very girly necklace :X I enjoyed talking with people, but I was nervous and felt SO DUMB asking all these questions, so I stuck to those that I gave a ride to ^^;; My table was cool. The atmosphere was awesome. And... yeah, I freaked out when I won the one off... Mikey had a bit of an accent so it took a few seconds for me to hear my name and when I realized it was me, I was SO SURPRISED I screamed "WHAT!?" and made an utter fool of myself running towards the stage.

and I got sunburned a bit
