Silicon eyes would probably work quite well, though I'm happy with the fit of 14mm Gumdrops.


These guys have identical urethane eyes, but the Roderich on the left has had his eyes opened slightly.

 

I can take pictures of 12 and 14mm urethanes, and 11 and 15mm Eyeco soft glass (it might be 13mm...I need to double check). Any other requests? I will take the pictures this evening. Tomorrow or the day after, my guy is off to a modder to get elf ears

15mm Eyeco - Too big for eyewell. Significant gapping. I held these in with some tape...eye putty would probably hold them in close enough to reduce the gap, but personally, I think these are still far too big.

I'm really fond of Eyeco silicone! I have them in 3 sizes: 11, 13 and 15 mm. And yes, 11 mm are too small while 15 mm are too big. But 13 mm are perfect!

 

Do you have any pictures? I'd love to see how the iris size looks before I buy my boy some eyes.


Do you all know whether the open-eyed Roderich was limited? I know the pre-order period was last fall, but until recently, it was still for sale in all skin tones. Now, it is only available in white. The listing doesn't actually use the word "limited," so I'm not sure what to make of the fact that it's listed as sold out.

 

I think that just means all the ns heads were sold and they have ws still available. From what I've been told is that they may randomly "restock" or open new preorders and will appear "out of stock" after a certain number have sold. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I'd also like to see some silicone eyes in various sizes to get a good idea of what I should get for my guy.

 

Thanks I will keep checking. I can't technically get the OE head now anyway, even if it came available, I just hate to think I've lost the opportunity completely. (Yeah, I know, check the MP...but he is MUCH more expensive on the secondhand market.)

My post above shows 11mm and 15mm silicone, as well as 12mm and 14mm urethane. I really like the iris size of the 11mm best, but the whites aren't quite big enough.

 

Zardi, it's true, the heads get re-released from time to time (except Vincent, because his mold is broken or something - in any case, it is no longer possible to reproduce him). I thought I would never own an Edria because I missed out on her first order period, but there have been plenty of others since. So now I own two :p. I have no idea if LLT intend to wait to make new NS heads until the WS heads have sold out, or something. The only thing with which you have to be careful (in my experience) is if you want a tan head. Most of the time, there is no tan available, so when there is, I guess those interested had better hurry.

Concerning Roderich, I should perhaps also mention that although the newer version of the dreaming head has supposedly had its eyewells adapted so as to fit more types of eyes, the glass eyes that I favour fit less well in the new head than in the older one :P. Don't know what happened there...

It's terrible news. I saw it on her weibo and was sadden by it. I am afraid that the Japanese buyers from Y!J will not know that they are buying a bootleg instead.

 

Nungmyo - That is terrible news. Its funny to me how pro recasts used to defend their stance by saying they never copy "artist" dolls, but everything that has been happening recently proves otherwise. I really feel for Julia - she's so passionate about her work and this is just disappointing. I think its best to purchase from manufacturer or official dealers from now on, one can ever be safe it seems.

Completely unrelated - I feel like I am going to explode ! Ever since the Ludwig reveal and concept some time ago, Ive been on pins and needles waiting for an announcement of his release ! I dont think Ive ever fallen hard for a doll before, at least never a boy doll. I keep refreshing the news page hoping for some news lol

 

Oh, recasters - don't get me started! I first heard about them because they were doing exactly that, recasting artist dolls (Cerisedolls, to be exact - not what you'd call a large company either). They'll say anything to defend their actions, which is plain and simple theft. I can't understand how anyone can profess to admire and love an artist's work, and to want to own it, but refuse to pay the artist's honest wages. And even if BJDs are expensive, I believe the wages are honest. I can't imagine Julia making a big profit out of this O_o. Also, there are plenty of people on this and other forums who have to be creative and scrape together the money with which to buy a doll they love. Nothing justifies stealing like that. It's not like stealing a loaf of bread because you are starving. Urgh! I am so disgusted.

HardCandy13, you are not alone with the, um, mild Ludwig obsession. I don't want to want him at all because I have more than enough dolls and am slightly worried about his size, but he is SO one of my favourite characters, and what we have seen of his so far is so utterly beautiful, that I'm afraid that the day he is released, I'll be completely lost. Also, the customs fees on that boy will be my financial ruin :p.

I am going to turn him into Thranduil...yes, I'm aware that Julia herself has already done this with an OE Roderich. But this was my plan since before I saw her version, so I'm not derailing my plans now. I've ordered him some 13mm Eyeco eyes, but I plan to get him some Mystics once I can decide on a color (they are too expensive to experiment with :P). I'm still searching for the perfect wig.

 

That ear mod is great, Zardi! Love the face-up too - very delicate. I can't wait to see what your Thranduil will look like when finished ...

Zardi - he looks really fantastic. Can't wait to see your finished Thranduil. I never care who did what character first. If I want to do a certain person even if it's been done before, then I do it. We have to do what inspires us and gives us joy, not worry about if it's already been done. :-)

Is it possible to buy the head just right now? :O I'm not sure. Are in stock?

Any recomendation for a good match? I love Granado's body but I think it's not the same resin color Bummer.

 

If you're asking about Roderich...they just did batch #5. Right now, you can order the Red Dove and Blue Magpie heads, or whatever heads they still have on their site that isn't SOLD OUT. But you might have to ask them.

If you are wondering about Roderich and what's compatible with him, there's a whole section where people were getting their Roderichs and sticking them on all types of bodies. I personally prefer the Popodoll 68...but someone told me the resin color isn't perfect...however, the proportions are more important for me. I also think the NS Infinitidoll body and NS Spiritdoll Proud body are good matches.

I just paid for my 2nd hand Roderich head and they sent it out today. Very excited. He's got this ancient elegance about him that really matches the character I have in mind.

Which Granado body are you getting, Sweet_Yuki? I was re-evaluating body options and liked Granado's new Lads body. I'm not sure I want a super tall boy, so the 68 cm body was a little too tall and a bit beefier than I would like. I think the Lads body is a bit new to have many reference pics so that's making it difficult. It'll be a while before I get my Roderich another body but it's still nice to dream .

 

I love lads body, too! . I will order it in the pre-order period (1-3th July) ^__^ All my boys (less DOT Ducan) are 70cm aprox, no problem for me *O*

How many time it took to send the head?

 

I found the body comparisons really helpful so I'm going to do my bit. Since someone already put their Roderich on an old Soom SG body...I'm just going to put mine on the new SG body.

The proportion is actually decent coz the new SG body is buffer than the old one. Too bad about the resin color, Soom is way pinker, and I found the neck a bit short. The only plus side was the really good mobility of the head. He could definitely nod his head. Yeah...I think I'm still going to go for the Popo 68 body.

Are they using the same color in the resin?

"LLT normal skin Edria with pink skin Nuevo body" <- Labs body has "new normal" (pinkish).

 

I've been mostly away from this board, so it's always nice to come back to pictures of everyone's dolls.

 

As I recall, Granado's "new normal" is equal to "pink" skin.
After they canceled "old normal" (which is in yellow tone), then "pink" skin become "new normal". So I am sure they are the same resin ^.^

I think when I got my heads it took about a month and a half. It's been a few years now so I don't remember all the details, but it wasn't long. I thought I just read on another LLT thread that someone who ordered a Red Dove head just got a shipping notice and it'd been less then a month since they ordered.

 

I got a shipping notice about 50 days in. The wait only got hard in the last few weeks before he arrived, so it wasn't bad at all.

Yay! I can't wait until you get your boy together. I was hoping someone else would be interested in the Lads body before I could buy one just so I could see a reference. Doll companies should get together and make like... a digital database so customers could virtually mix and match before we bought! If anything it could bring healthy competition to get better .

Hi, I realize I didn't even introduce myself properly but I've been reading this thread for some time coz I always loved LLT's Roderich. I was deterred from getting him at first because LLT was so slow at replying a simple shipping question of mine. But when I saw his head for sale on my local ebay I decided to get him coz the shipping was very minimal and the seller said he was new.

So here he is, with his faceup. That's not his correct hair color but I didn't really prepare for him. Some day, perhaps.

 

pictures often distort color... share your impression about the most successful match the color. I will be very grateful!

As far as I know, they have periodical ordering periods. Because LLT is a small company, they've opted to do it this way so they can better manage and control their production, just like IOS and DollClans. So you just have to be on the lookout.

I hate to revive this thread on such an aggressive, cranky note, but my body-plans have been thrown awry for my Roderich.

I've been working on some modifications to my Volks SD17, and because the body has been without a head for the moment, I popped my Roderich head on him, thinking, "Lots of people like him on this body, and it would be nice to have Garth around for a bit!"

While I've loved having my Roderich as a complete doll, I cannot express how much I dislike him on the SD17, which is fine and dandy, as they're VERY expensive and I'd rather not boot my Volks head off the body anyway. The proportions are all wrong for his character, and, perhaps a bit humorously, the character that I've painted Roderich into seems to feel the same way [he reminds me of a deer right now; not sure what to do with all his lithe limbs!] At this point, I was still in high spirits, and decided to check the price of the Classydoll 61cm body I had picked for my Roderich....

...only to find they've closed up shop and discontinued the line.

I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably-priced, 61cm range body that would match a 2014 ws Roderich? I don't mind having to blush him if I have to, and the character I have for the head is a shorter man, so I don't want to go too much taller than 60-63cms. Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated!!

 

I've tried to find some pictures but can anyone help me find LLT Roderich on a Popo doll 63cm body? I'm not sure that I want him to be so tall as the 68cm but I don't know if the proportions are okay on the 63cm.
I suppose if it comes down to it I can always do a leg mod to cut down on some of his height, it worked well on my Souldoll Double.

 

Nekosam: I had my Roderich on a popo68 once, and I think the head would be big for a popo63. You have to compare the shoulder wide and neck to be sure.
I´d recommend to go for a 68 and mod its height if you are comfortable with it.

Hello! ^-^ I'm relatively new to this thread, but I've been eyeing with LLT dolls for a while. Last week I finally decided to take my chance, and ordered a Red Dove head. I'm so excited!

I'd like to ask a practical question - I payed for my order, but didn't get any confirmation mail, and altough I contacted Julia about the issue through the webpage and by email, I didn't get a reply. I'm a little bit worried if my order went through or not... (the money definitely did, but I noticed it's a different email account she uses for paypal, so she might not notice it).

I know it's only been a week, but do you have any experience regarding LLT's communication?

YES, actually!! Freshskin has considerably more pink to it than the LLdT white skin resin, at least from the batches I have. The LLdT resin may be a better match for pale resin, or even the milk-honey resin, as it also has a slight translucency to it. I can take pictures for you tomorrow!

All this said, my Roderich is currently on a dollstown fresh-skin body and it's DEFINITELY within a blushable range. 8]

 

oh thank you for reply my answer i ask that because i saw some pictures on flickr of a roderich ws on a dsam32s body from dollshe on fresh skin.. and looks really acceptable. but the roderich was from 2012 i think.. I'll be waiting for your pics!

@Sholestica I've sometimes put my Roderich heads on my Dollshe Pure body which has a 10.5cm neck and they fit fine.

 

yes. dollshe bodies fit very well on roderich and in my case Lazuli.. i have a WS Lazuli and i put him on a DSAM32s body on fresh skin and it looks great
