Just tought I would post of a picture of my 2 Roderich heads next to each other here. Left: Alistair, my Dreamy Roderich (April 2011) Right: Roderich Open Eyes (September 2013) The OE version has a bit smaller head. The resin is heavier and a bit more yellow. His nose bridge is thinner, lips are smiling
Hm. I don't think the new version is an improvement, actually :/. I'm glad about the open eyes, but I wish she hadn't changed anything else. Then again, I adore my Roderich so much that *any* change to his sculpt is likely to make me go "meh" :p. Hopefully they new head will charme me again when it has a face-up...
I'm eager to see your OE faceupped next to Alistair, Sjota. I really love Roderich, and his sculpt would be a good match for my character Garth, but from the blank it looks like his lips are thinner on the OE head...is this true, or just the lighting? If so, I may have to do an eye-opening on the regular Roderich, just to keep those lovely lips!!
I'm sorry you won't see the OE Roderich with face-up next to Alistair as I had to sell him. Lips are the same. Its probably just the light or Alistair's face-up.
talinata22: wow! I'm really knocked over by these two. the entire scene looks so realistic. Is that a very fancy Olympic medal he's wearing?
petiteballerine, я также хотел, как они выглядят вместе. И они такие разные. Каталина, спасибо. Мне нравится этот портрет также!
talinata22: it's true how every doll even with the same sculpt can look so different. the OE and original face are both so handsome.
Talinata22: Both of your boys are gorgeous. I am especially partial to Raul's hair. My OE Roderich returned from his trip to be face upped by AngelToast. I am blown away by what she did with him and wanted to share. Roderich is such a lovely sculpt.
Yay! My OE Roderich arrived! Actually, he arrived a while ago but I haven't had time to do anything with him until this week. I think he's absolutely gorgeous. At first I couldn't see many differences with original Roderich (I have both). But then as I started his faceup I could tell subtle differences in addition to the obvious more open eyes. His nose is a little more refined, the face shape is a little different, and the chin seems just a little different as well. I love both my Roderichs! The only thing that surprises me is how much more yellow my OE Roderich in normal skin is compared to my original Roderich. Original Roderich looks fine (he's also normal skin) on a Dollshe Oriental skin body. But OE Roderich looks terrible as the Oriental skin seems much pinker. I tried OE Roderich on an Angel Studio "Solid Butter" body which was a great physical fit but, again, the body was much pinker. Anyway, here are some quick pictures of my new guy. I absolutely love him! Also, a comparison shot (not very good, sorry) of both my Roderichs. And the new guy who seems to look fabulous in any style wig. Ok, I better not add more pics as this isn't a gallery thread. But did want to share a few. To me, OE Roderich has a little bit more of a rakish look to him. Not exactly sure why I think that. I've really been enjoying seeing pics of your new Roderichs! Thank you for sharing! Jay
It's been a while since I've posted on this thread, haha. I just love seeing more and more OE Roderich's! Sigune, When my OE Roderich(late 2013 towards 2014) head came I was shocked to find it so yellow too! XD Luckily, the spiritdoll body I had for him was fairly old, I believe maybe around 2012 or 2011? And the resin was actually a pretty good match, surprisingly. Thank god, ahaha. Talinata22, I love your boys! And what I like about it the most is that, although its the 'same' mold just with different eyes, they can look so different in comparison~~ sephyelysian, Oh! I really love that face up on him. He looks so handsome!! Jay, wow, the difference between the two is so visible. I didn't realize how yellow the newer NS head was in comparison to the older head, thanks for sharing the comparison picture! When I ordered my OE Roderich which arrived in DEC 2013, I was sort of shocked to see the resin so yellow. In comparison to my Migidoll Jina NS that was from 2012, he was far more yellow-- luckily, the resin match with his spiritdoll body from 2011-2012 wasn't so bad (the body was slightly yellowed) Anyways my OE Roderich went on an drastic change from last post I've made on here, because I was trying to figure out his character-- (I tried to reshell him as an existing character I had before and it just wasn't working out- so I gave him a whole different faceup and personality instead) And here he is~ He is a rockabilly/greaser-inspired bad boy. His name is Billy "Kid" Moore. I've actually had a lot of fun doing his tattoos and scars around his face. I was also trying to get that typical pompadour hairstyle, hopefully its recognizable... but its so impossible to achieve...
It's troubling to see that the resin color is more yellow toned than LLT normal skin used to be. I hope Julia goes back to the previous color with Ahaz and Ludwig!
Roderich white OE from the last order. almost finished his faceup. he's on an Akagidoll body. the skinny one. it's wonderful. but...the body is white. lovely eggshell. perfect proportions with the head. & Roderich is almost slightly greenish yellow. (note the skin around his eyes) depends on the light whether they look ok together. blushing helps. will post undressed daylight pics this week.
Ha damn you poeple, I want my Roderich back from the face-up artist. I miss him >.< ! All your Roderich are lovely, OE and Dreamy.
I am hopefully in the process of acquiring a beautiful Roderich head, and I just wanted to say that this old post was very helpful! I am hoping this head could also fit on their male "nuevo" body with a bit of modding. Has anyone tried this head on an Iplehouse nYID body? My first choice would be SID, but their necks are even bigger.
St. James - I have to agree. I don't know what's with this much yellower head. I finally put mine on an older Spiritdoll v. 1 Proud body that has yellowed a bit and that's the closest match I have so far. Although I admit, I don't have that many bodies here to compare with. petiteballerine - well, that's interesting to know about the white skin. Can't say I'm thrilled about that. Reminds me of some of the Soom whites that seem to get a greenish/gray cast. That's so different from the original LLT white skin which was more pink! Very confusing. That's good to know about the Akagidoll body. I wondered if that would be a good fit. Zardi - I have a new Granado body and it is way too pink for normal skin Roderich. :-( Bummer. Also, I think Roderich would look like a pin head on a SID body. Not sure about a YID. Jay
My second Roderich and 1st OE (he is arrived today): Elm Meisterhazy is the heir of the famous family of immigrants from Hungary. He is beautiful, clever young man, but he isn't only rich slacker. He loves his working very much... Columnist of little magazine, Elm is very happy to work hardly, but his new chief - very misterious parson! - wants to close his column and stipulate him: Elm needs to catch sensation) And young Meisterhazy agrees to change his image and hunt his lucke sensation! Elm stadard image:
Finally gave my OE Roderich a face-up today... By the time I had glued in his eyelashes, the light was gone, though, so all I have for the moment is a bad photo in artificial light :p. I'll be curious to see just how awful the resin match with the Feeple65 body is :/. This new head is so much yellower than my dreaming Roderichs (a fact about which I am not so happy). I did my best to blush him pinker, but I don't know how well it worked. The head is definitely different from the older Roderichs in other things than the eyes and colour - there is something about the lower lip (not much, but *something*) and his face looks sharper too. I think he looks younger and, in my opinion, a tad less handsome. It's not a bad thing per se that he is a bit different. He is my third Roderich head (:p) and I'm happy about the fact that he looks like a slightly younger incarnation of Gawain. Just... a little less perfect than his older self . Better photo by daylight tomorrow, I hope...
I wish LLT would make their heads avlaible in normal utherane. I don't like the enviromental resin they use. LLT's resin is quite solid compared to other types of enviromental resin, but the slight transparancy is still noticable, especially around the eyelid area.
Is that environmental resin? All I know is that LLT's resin is the most beautiful I have ever seen... I love it! ETA: daylight photo - not as good as I hoped it would be, as the light was already going when I finally got home :/. Mr Big Hair by severelysigune, on Flickr I haven't been able to blush the head in such a way as to hide the colour difference, but at least the difference doesn't bother me.
Can someone help me through the ordering process for my Roderich head?? I've read about order form, but I haven't found it on the website. When I go to place an order, it goes straight to check out via paypal; others have said to continue through paypal and put your choice of NS/WS in the comments section. I've also seen that they do pre-order periods...but the heads are still available to purchase regardless of pre-order or not. I'm REALLY confused and can't find any information that puts my mind at ease. Jerryama is an agent on ebay and I've thought about going through them as well. Any tips/advice? Believe me, I've rummaged through all the threads the search function could give me and still haven't found a clear-cut answer. Thanks!
Hello byke, I have ordered four heads from LLT to date, and all I have done is 1) go to the shop page of the head I wanted (Roderich is here); 2) select the option I want buy clicking on the button under the right listing (and yes, this does go directly to Paypal); 3) go back to the site to select the right shipping amount; 4) pay. Normally I also add 5) send an e-mail to LLT to ask for an order confirmation. They don't always reply to that, or when they do, it may be very late. So far, I have always received my order, and correctly too. LLT are notorious for not being very communicative, but personally I have never had a problem with them. The heads listed in the shop are available (though NOT IN STOCK! - sometimes there are a number of heads in stock, but when there are, it says so explicitly on the website), so you can order them whenever. There are preorder periods sometimes, but not at the moment. I hope that helps .
Thank you for the quick response!! This was exactly what I was hoping to hear! I haven't seen many recent threads concerning these dolls and I started to get worried especially hearing about pre-orders...even though the heads are available for purchase anyway. I figured it'd be a waste to e-mail the company, lol, since their communication is a bit slow. This helps tons, you're a life saver-- or, at least an anxiety saver! ^^
Yay! Just placed my order! The Paypal e-mail it gets sent to is [email protected] right? It said to Yu Fei or someone like that. I just sent my e-mail to them to make sure they received payment >3< hopefully I'll hear something soon!!
Hello! Let me introduce my Raul (Roderich LLT): In advance I apologise - I'm not a very good photographer, but I really want to boast of my favorite boy
Long time I did not come on this thread o_o Everyone´s Roderich is fabulous. It´s nice to see some OE Roderich painted, I appreciate the mold better with a face-up. Is there some Vincent owner ? I´d like to see some pics. I sent Alistair away for a new face-up back in January. He came back today and I had to take a pic (even if it was late at night). I love him ♥
Thank you ^^ I had a Luts SSDF on him. Really good color and proportion match. But I´m planning to get him either a Dollstown or a Spiritdoll body now.
Aww,Sjota your Alistair is beautiful as always!!! btw, I love the scale when roderich on Spirit doll proud body but I think the main problem to me is that the body is yellowing faster*sigh I sent my roderich for face up on last month, hope he can get back soon.
Yes, it´s such a shame Spiritdolls bodies yellow so fast. My Wally´s body is a lot more yellow than the head and than the Roderich head too. It´s why I´m wondering if I´ll not try buying a white skin body and blush it a bit.
Sjota, you'll have to post pics if you go the WS Spiritdoll route. I'm considering Spiritdoll or Dollzone 70cm; they both look similar, but the DZ looks a little leaner. I would prefer DZ since it's a bit cheaper and hopefully it wouldn't yellow as fast. I've read about Spiritdoll yellowing quickly as well. I can't find any owner pictures of the new DZ 70cm body with a Roderich head to see how the proportions are. I guess if it comes to it, I can just order it and try it out and deal with it if it doesn't, but it'd ease my nerves if I could find someone who has already tried it. Has anyone found any pics of Roderich on DZ bodies?? I found ONE on a an old-style 72cm body, but it was super gangly. I've read that Roderich is a little small to go on the DT body, but actually haven't found any pictures of him ON the body. Someone posted comparison pictures of their DT 18yr body next to Roderich and it DID look small...but I'd really like to just SEE it. Lol. Even if it's rediculous, it's nice to know!
Any Dollzone bodies? Because I have one of my Roderichs on a (pink skin) 65 cm Dollzone body. Probably less tall than you'd like... But I think the proportion is very good.
Thanks, Sigune. All creepiness aside (lol), do you have any pictures with out a shirt or anything? My guy wears a lot of slim-fitting shirt, so it'd be nice to see how the head looks without clothes to get a better idea of proportions. The 65cm body may look better than the new 70cm type since the 70cm has a smaller neck circumference...which is just odd.
LOL byke, I do understand why you would ask for a naked or naked torso shot - even though my dolls are all clothed, I do want head and body to look good together without clothes too! I have a few photos, though they aren't the most recent - but they can give you some idea at least of the look. I have modded the chest on my Roderich's body somewhat because the 65 cm has a very square and somewhat odd chest part :/ - but apart from that, I personally find that Roderich looks very good on 65 cm bodies with broad shoulders. Oddly enough, Dollzone's taller bodies are ganglier and don't necessarily fit better with 22cm heads. A few things I like about the 65 cm body are the fact that it has broad shoulders, a normal neck length and a more or less normal leg length. It also has beautiful feet and hands. The hands are probably a tad too large, but I love them. The hands and feet also have great movement, if you care about that sort of thing.
Haha! Thanks. I always feel wierd asking about nekkid shots, but they are somewhat necessary! XD. The priprtions are pretty nice and he won't be so tall; i've had a model doll body and ick it was way to spidery for me. The only other thing I'm questioning is the length of the neck. I don't mind an elongated neck (certainly not a giraffe neck haha) but it looks somewhat squat. Is that just angle of the picture? I think I saw another picture of your boy and it didn't appear sqautted.
If you think the neck is too squat in the picture on the previous page too, then it's not the angle . Personally, I think the neck looks normal - but it's certainly shorter than the necks on the other Dollzone bodies. Those are too long to my taste :p. You can check out Gawain's gallery if you like, to see if the neck looks okay to you.
Thanks for the link. Yeah, I think I'd prefer a slightly longer neck for my character. Popodoll's 68cm body looks aight, but I just love the Spiritdoll body. I may have to suck it up and deal with the yellowing with it; or go whiteskin and blush it to counteract fast yellowing. Looms like the only way to get Popo is secondhand or Jeeryama; and it's a more cost effective option. I've seen one Roderich on an old dollshe body, but I'd have mod the neck to not be so tall and I don't trust myself to do that xD.
I have the new Dollzone 70cm body and I'll try and get some photos of Roderich on it, just give me a few days. If I remember correctly, the proportions are nice apart from the absurdly skinny neck. See what you think, it might look fine if he's going to have long hair. I'll also mention that the resin match is way off since it's from when DZ PS was nearly WS, but I think they've changed it again since then.
Thanks ElizabethX! I'm not entirely concerned with perfect resin match since I nearly always blush my dolls.
Hello again! I have the chance to buy a Spiritdoll Proud v.2 body for my Roderich head, but the body has had some sanding done to the neck. Could I see some pictures of Roderich/Proud hybrids (specifically at the join of head and neck) so I can try to figure out if the body will still work? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
If you do search you should find some pics of him on a spiritdoll body. If I remember, the neck is a little long on him, so with yours being sanded it may look better.
Thanks, I have already done so. However, I meant close-up pictures of where the head joins the neck, to check for gaps or other potential for issues. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
There you go my roderich on Spiritdoll Proud. As you can see this is a proportionaly a beautiful match BUT you have to keep in mind that your body will yellow faster than the head and that Roderich CAN´T move his head up and down on this body. The neck problem :
Thank you SO much! I'd heard about the yellowing problem for the body, but not the head mobility problem. Maybe the sanding will actually help...if not, it doesn't bother me too much anyway. These pictures are very helpful!
I wonder if sueding would help the head mobility issue?? My Mihael didn't have much head movement on the SDF body, but I gave him some hot glue sueding and it helped. Anyone had experience with that? From what I hear, Roderich has some limited mobility on a number of bodies. I thought for sure I'd convinced myself to get Popodoll body, but guh. The spirtdoll body is amazeballs.
It is a gorgeous body. I've totally fallen for it as well. If the sanding on the body I'm getting helps mobility at all, I'll make sure I post pictures.
I think it´s the hook position in the head that lower so much the head mobility. To make him look down it has to pull so much on the string that it just doesn´t work. I use the "neck part" when I put my Roderich on Spiritdoll. Not so pretty but with long hairs you don´t see it.
Sorry for the late response, my dolling is on hiatus at the moment and I haven't had time to dig my boy out of storage. I managed to take a few quick photos tonight, not great quality I'm afraid. So here's Roderich on the Dollzone B70-003 body: As you can see, the neck is very thin and leaves a big gap where it joins the head but there is no problem with posing. I don't know, I'd say that the neck is at the very limit of acceptably skinny, but that depends on how stylised or realistic you like your dolls. My boy is probably keeping the body for now, when I have time time play with him again come the summer I'll make my final decision. I'm definitely going to have to get him a longer wig than I was planning anyway (wig in picture is definitely not his!)
Thanks ElizabethX! I see what you mean with the skinny neck. That's what I was afraid of! Looks like I'll be going to Popo or Spiritdoll.
My boy's Spiritdoll Proud body arrived today, and it is amazing!! The color is a little bit off compared to the head, but the head is lighter, so blushing won't be a problem. Also, since the body's previous owner sanded the neck, his head mobility is improved as well. He still can't look up, but every other direction works beautifully. Here he is so far! IMG_20140418_173948 by AndreaJEP, on Flickr He is going to be an elf. I am trying to decide whether to try adding his elf ears myself, or whether to send the head off to someone. I've never done any modding before, but I'm itching to start blushing this guy and having him away for modding means I can't do any blushing yet
You're boy is handsome, Zardi! You're not helping me convince myself to abandon the Spiritdoll body option! Just curious to those who have their bedroom-eyed boys, do you use 12mm or 14mm eyes?? LLT says both work, but which look better?? I prefer smaller eyes, but I'm wondering if 12 are too small or not. I have a pair of green 12mm I plan on using for my boy and hope they work!
Nope, you won't get any help from me with NOT getting this fabulous body Those joints are absolutely amazing. Mine in the picture above is wearing 14mm. If you want, I can take pictures of anything from 11 to 15mm in him. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
That would be great! If you could get close up of 12 and 14 since those would be easiest to come by. Just to see the difference.
Gawain wears 14 mm eyes - I'd prefer to have 12 mm, but those were a little gappy on the sides... Gawain II by severelysigune, on Flickr Funny enough, my open-eyed Gawain can wear 12 mm and they don't gap. I think that for the dreaming-eyed head, 12 mm would be quite all right if you go for oval-shaped eyes. But sadly I haven't got any of those to try.
Hmm, I may have to see if I can find some green eyes I like in 14's. I'll wait and see what my 12's look like in him; they're about as round as a pair of 14's.
I recommend 12mm silicon eyes for Roderich. It covers better than glass eyes and are easier to place since it´s soft.
