La Légende de Temps - part 2

Jul 8, 2015

    1. @yuan_mdx
I got a reply from LLT, thanks any way! :-)

    2. EDIT: Just got my own Lazuli head, so all is good :3nodding:

    3. Can anyone describe me how are La Legende de Temps' recent white and normal resins?
      I'm about to order my Ahaz, but I'm still hesitating on the resin color ;__;
I was thinking of purchasing him in White, because my WS Roderich (December 2012) is still a really light normal, while my NS OE Roderich (December 2013) has turned really yellow in 2+ years with close to NO sun exposure. But recently I saw a picture of a really paper white Roderich, so I was wondering if it was a trick of the lighting, or if La Legende de Temps' resin colors had changed?

    4. I'm also wondering about the WS vs the NS....I was thinking of Roderich or Lazuli for a Ringdoll body, and Ringdoll NS is super pale, so if the WS is on the cream side, it might be a better match.

Or they won't fit the body at all and I'll have to go in a different direction XD

    5. Bowed out for awhile, so it's lovely to come back to news! The video was awesome. My doll acquisition is slow, slow pipeline, but Ludwig is still on the list.

    6. I didn't notice any difference between the older NS from the first Roderich release and the more recent Red Dove release. Couldn't tell you about the white though. We ordered white Roderich heads but were shipped the wrong color and just decided to live with it.

I ended up ordering Ludwig in NS to cut costs. I was going to go for the works - extra hands, full face-up and blushing - but the weird layaway payments only applied to the full doll and not the total order. I was told I could just email an order and be sent PayPal invoices, but communication has been very inconsistent, so I decided to just order Ludwig and an Ahaz head with nothing else so I could at least get my order placed before the deadline. Has anyone gotten an answer on how we make the second layaway payment? I feel like we've gone back to the days of Babel Fish and wire transfers! *_*

    7. You mentioned you ordered a ludwig so I was wondering if you know if the doll is actually limited or just sold for limited time until another release date? I asked LLT but have not gotten an email reply yet. Sorry to bother you if you don't know. Thanks

    8. Julia stated that this was simply the first order period and that he and Ahaz would be available again in the future as full dolls. I believe the only thing limited to this order is the ability to buy a head along with the body.

    9. Oh, I was under the impression that they didn't know yet if there would be another order period for these guys? At least that's what they were stating in comments on their facebook page.

In the end, I caved in and ordered my Ahaz, and a Ludwig head as well + prayer hands. I just have to hope that my antique computer will hold on for a bit longer as I used up my computer replacing funds for this xD
I settled for white skin, because it would be easier to blush in a nicer color if it's too pale in the end :D

    10. Well, since they're not quick on following through I didn't want to take any chances and have to wait two years for the next order period or something!
I wish I could have paid for the entire doll up front, as my layaway order is already getting very messy. I guess if those other three dolls we've ordered in the last two months hadn't been so easy to obtain... :sweat

    11. Pretty easy, actually. You choose the Layaway Page Ahaz (or Ludwig) in the shop section, pick the colour and put it in the cart. Add the other head if you want to (same colour) and additional parts (same colour). Check out and pay via PayPal. Same for the second layaway payment (minus the head and parts, obviously). That's how I did it (only that I decided kinda "last minute" I wanted that second head and added it to my second payment instead my first). I got a confirmation after my first payment from Miho, telling me my order number (basically, the PayPal transaction number IIRC) and asking to add a note to the second payment stating the order number. Since I couldn't leave a note with my second payment I mailed Miho directly, letting her know the transaction number of both payments and the order number. A few days later, she confirmed. The rest, as it's the norm in this hobby, is waiting ... ;)

    12. @Khell Ah, so that page will still be available after the order period closes? I guess, since I have the PayPal address I can just send payment with my order number. Even though I reply as soon as I get an email from Miho, it's still more than a week before I get a response, and still doesn't answer my questions. :/

    13. I don't know how long it'll stay open but wasn't there a deadline for the payments if you want your doll shipped with the first batch or something like that? I got two different dates. On Facebook, Julia said something like end of August (?) whereas on the confirmation for my first payment it said something like end of September. Maybe they meant all order pages will be closed by some date that I'm not sure of and only re-opened when the next order period for Ludwig/Ahaz starts so that unless you finish the layaway on time in this round you then can't finish it until the next round? Not sure, speculating here ...

    14. Miho said that payments had to be completed by Sept 30th to get into the first casting order. No details on how that was to be accomplished or what happens if one needs longer.

    15. I would suggest people order the WS resin because I bought a brand new Roderich head from a dealer who had him for a while and he was extremely yellow.

    16. Extremely yellow? What would you compare it to, @yuan_mdx ? (Pure curiosity on my part :)...)

Hm. I have three Roderich heads - two dreaming and one open-eyed. It seems to me the open-eyed (and most recent) version is cast in a different resin (it doesn't have that slightly transparent quality that I love so very much) from the other two. My open-eyed head is on a Feeple65 NS body and though it's clearly more yellow than the body, the match, with minor blushing, is really not bad. My older Roderich heads, though, were near-perfect matches with Dollzone's Normal Pink of 2012, which was a very nice soft pink.

I also own two Edria heads, made between my dreaming and open-eyed Roderichs, and they are firmly in the yellowish spectrum of NS. Edria is a near-perfect match with her Spiritdoll NS body, which is not at all pink.

I am dying to see your Ludwigs and Ahazes (Ahazs?!) when they arrive... They are absolutely gorgeous, but really too large for me. Now if they came out in mini versions... :P

    17. @Sigune - I compare him to my Soom bodies. The body on the right is their current NS while the one on the left is their older body and has obviously yellowed. My Roderich is on the yellowed body but that color looks pink compared to him. The nose area and the back of the hand are under full light and is the most obvious.

Normally, the owner pics I've seen look like NS Roderich, but when I check the head is actually WS but the body is NS from other companies.

EDIT: update with my newest resin comparison pic. If I had my NS I.O.S head I would have placed my LLT cap next to it since it was absurdly yellow. But I traded it off with a WS I.O.S head.

    18. Is the sale still on?

    19. I just saw the notice in the news section that this will be the last order period for the current version of Lazuli. I went to the page that was linked and although the "Add to Cart" is still available it says sold out in the text. It's been a while since I've ordered for them but is that normal? Also does LLT do layaway for heads only, or was layaway just for the new body and head combo's?

    20. I believe layaway was only available for people buying a full doll, since they had to set up a slightly wacky sales page to accomplish it.

I am relieved to report that I managed to send in my last layaway payemnt before the deadline for this casting batch of Ludwig. Just waiting for confirmation! I decided to get face-up and body blushing so I could play with him right away, and that took a little more financial suffering. :shudder

    21. @St. James Yeah, I sent a message to LLT and got the same reply. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a Lazuli head sometime down the road, and perhaps the new one will also strike my fancy.

Edit! Also Julia's working on a new head. Neil

    22. I saw him! He'd make a great young Nick Cave. Fortunately I don't need one of those. :XD:

    23. Showing off my Lazuli guy. He's still waiting for his own body (that would be a Dollstown 17) and prolly a better wig but sporting a gorgeous faceup!

    24. @Alfie, thank you kindly !

    25. That face-up is to die for! Wow!

    26. OMG. I just got my shipping notice: Ludwig is on his way home!!!!!

      • x 1
    27. Wow! That's fantastic! I was told mine wouldn't ship until January, so I am eager to see others arriving.

    28. Came home from a weekend at Europapark Rust to find my shipping notice in my mailbox. Tracking number doesn't work, yet, so I'll just keep stalking the tracking website until it does. :D

    29. Congrats! You are so lucky!!!!!
I'm waiting Ahaz, hope he will go home soon too.

    30. There was a time, a few years ago, when we thought we would never read this. Congrats!

    31. Hello friends! What about join me in LLT waiting room? Let's see how fast our dolls will arrive :kitty1

    32. Has anyone received Ludwig or Ahaz yet? My tracking stopped working since Oct. 20 and I emailed the company twice with no response as well. I am afraid he never made it out of China. EMS from Granado, also in China, never takes this long.

    33. Mine's just cleared customs in Frankfurt and should be here soon. Tracking on the Chinese tracking site doesn't really work (since it states he's actually in Grenada ...), tracking on German sites doesn't work at all. The tracking getting closest to the actual status is GDSK, which states that he's in the delivery depot right now. I was hoping for him to be delivered today but it looks more like Monday or another day next week.

    34. That is reassuring to know. The lady at US Post Office here is going to look into it for me on Monday. Hoping it made it at least to Chicago customs by now.
      Biting my nails...................

    35. HE'S HERE!!!! Guess who arrived here not even an hour ago? *beaming*

Since I won't do a box opening - because my camera's too crappy and I just can't wait and go slowly for that kind of thing - a few details here.

      - He's really heavy. Approximately as heavy as my Iplehouse EID - and just as well-build. I actually doubt that he'll fit into EID clothes but I'll try this evening (since I opened the parcel during my lunch break).
      - The head's actually small enough that, if you mod the neckhole, it might also fit on more slender or smaller bodies. The proportions are perfect, though, he looks very realistic.
      - Those FEET! Looks like he'll need small boats as shoes! *lol*
      - As for eyes, I just so happened to have a pair of Kok Doll eyes in 16mm with low arc and super small iris (I think they call them "beetles eyes" or "sharp-eyed look") and they're an awesome fit for Ludwig. Ahaz, too, but I'd definitely go low dome for him since his eyes are half closed. The iris on those eyes is the perfect size if you want a mature, realistic look.
      - Talking about Ahaz - the resin's pretty thin around his eyes (as in: if you hold the head up to the light it's shine-through), at least in my case, so you might want to reinforce it with a thin layer of epoxy clay
      - I was among those who started to doubt Ludwig after Julia changed him but I have to say I like him a lot better in person. And I'm really, really glad I shelled out the extra money to get both heads - they're both absolutely beautiful! :D
      - I got him in light tan and of course he came with the usual caveats on his certificate not to sand the light tan and not to leave him out in the sunlight. So I guess I'll just run some tests with that fig leaf (that came in light tan, too) to see how stable the tan is - because it doesn't matter if that leaf turns pea green or something. ;) The tan is a very, very nice colour that reminds me of a latte or cappuccino. It's less "orange" than Volks sunlight and of course I'd love to keep him sitting with all my other dolls because, well, I've waited so long for him and I just don't want to keep him in his box.
      - The box, unfortunately, got damaged in transit but fear not! He was so well packaged in several layers of rubber foam that nothing happened to him.
      - He arrived very tightly strung. You might want to suede his neck joint and hip joints since there's quite some friction and I can already see some minor rubbing marks on my tan Ludwig. He does stand like a rock right out of the box but don't turn your back on him! Mine used that moment to tip over and hit the (carpeted) floor - guess it had to happen sooner or later and since it happened sooner at least I now know that he's also sturdy enough to survive a faceplant on carpeted floor without damage, at least in my case.

He's sitting on my couch now, in all his undressed glory, with light blue eyes (looks fabulous with the tan!) and a blond wig that he's not really happy with. He wants red hair. I don't have any red hair available right now so I guess next thing will be a wig order. Once my bank account's recovered from the customs fees I'll have to pay for him ... *sigh*

    36. @Khell Wow, congrats!!! You a lucky one! Are your boys with faceup or not?
And thank for this revue it's very helpful :)

    37. @Drakoshka Thanks. :) I ordered them without face-up since I got something quite specific in mind for their face-ups. Ahaz will be turned into a Medjai (think Ardeth Bay from the 1999 "The Mummy" and 2001 "The Mummy Returns") and Ludwig will be turned into Loki - uh, Norse Loki with flaming red hair and braids and stuff. XD

    38. Sorry for the double post - did some "clothing tests" with Ludwig today and the result is: Yes, EID clothes will fit him. At least the stretchy tops that I had but anything that's not skin-tight should be a decent fit. As for pants, only had one pair of spare EID pants - pair of jeans - and it was a nice but tight fit. Which it also ist for my EID, though. It's a bit short. My guess would be that HID clothes are a great fit for Ludwig/Ahaz. As for shoes, didn't try any, yet, but I only have one pair of EID shoes and they look like they might be a bit small/tight, compared to Ludwig's foot.

I've also put the little fig leaf on the same shelf as my other dolls - I wanna see how the light tan reacts to exposure to light (so I'll know whether I have to keep Ludwig in the box or cover him up during the day and only take him out occasionally). Let's see ... :)

    39. Well, my package with Ludwig in it has still not arrived and the tracking has not updated since October 20 in Shanghai.
LLT has not answered any of my emails. USPS is making a search on the US side but it doesn't look like it ever made it out of China. I don't know what else to do. I emailed the company again but it seems that she doesn't check her emails.
      :...(

    40. @Therealwalter - oh damn...Shanghai huh? Yeah...the fb group I'm in was just talking about that. Shanghai customs has become really strict with what goes out since they caught packages with explosives and drugs inside disguised as dolls. It depends on your luck, I guess. Some people got theirs fast through Shanghai while some had to really step on toes to get their package to them.

    41. I wish I knew how to step on some toes over there but there is not much I can do from here so I hope LLT will at least acknowledge my emails so I know they are looking into it. If it is just being held in customs and not stolen, hopefully it will eventually make it home. I seriously doubt Ludwig is hiding any drugs under that fig leaf.

Edit (the next day): Ludwig is in Chicago! I cannot express how relieved I am. It must have been held up in customs.

    42. Aw, I was hoping to peek at some Ludwig or Ahaz's home photos.
I loved the newer Neil guy the most, however. I'd prolly put him to my wtb list.
Meanwhile, have a one more photo of my LLT guy.

After all the tears and the pain of waiting, having been "Shangaied" and rescued from customs, Ludwig finally arrived safe and sound. Meet Hans Freidrick. Faceup from LLT, free glass eyes.

    44. Congrats on the arrival. That was a long and difficult delivery, from beginning to end.

I do still see the original concept in that face and it still does look Teutonic, but the large eyes and general stylisation have lost it for me. Or perhaps the level of realism in the BJD world has moved on since the first version and it is just my perceptions that have changed. It is still a good looking head, though. What is the body like, in terms of posing? Is the chest cut as rigid as it looks?

    45. The body is visually beautiful. Arm and leg joints are smooth functional and the balance feels good. The chest joint does not have the mobility that 28m has and is stiff. I am currently searching for patterns for lederhosen for him to wear. Lol.

    46. @Therealwalter Congratulations! It was a long and hard way, but now he is at home and it is super cool!

    47. @Therealwalter, congrats, and good to know he's finally home and rescued! I never knew LLT did faceups, is that for their whole dolls only?

    48. I think it was just offered face up with whole doll Ludwig or Ahaz.

    49. congrats @Therealwalter ~ so glad to hear that your package passed Shanhai eventually and got to you~~ He looks mighty gorgeous! Can't wait for more pics.

I saw someone selling an Edria head and jumped on the opportunity to get it, she's going to be a boy though.

    50. Hi guys -- I've been bitten by the Lazuli bug, and I think after I pay off my current layaways, I'm going to get him in normal skin. It's his faceup that gets me, so I'm really going to have to search for an artist to do something similar!

    51. I think I've fallen in love with Neil. I don't know much about LLDT other than I painted an Edria once years ago and the mold was amazing. What companies do they currently match? They posted a white head on a dollshe body on their facebook page, just wondering if any other dollshe colors match, or what other companies will work for them?

    52. Julia just posted some new photos of Neil, including one of him on a 5th Motif Timeless body: Neil

He's so pretty. Neck's a little long on this body, of course, because of the unorthodox placement of the neck/head separation on 5th Motif bodies. I guess one could mod either the body or the head to make a better fit, but that's quite an expensive body to risk modding... and on the other hand if you were to mod the head, you'd never be able to put it on any other body... hm...

I suspect he'd look really great on Dollshe's new 18 body, the body they made for Arsene, which is quite realistic and should match 5th Motif resin color, which in turn seems to match the Neil head's color in these photos (though it's hard to tell with that tall collar on).

I hope Julia will show pictures of Neil on LLT's new body, the big muscular one. Although his face is so soft and almost androgynous that it might be better suited to a slender body, I also kind of love the idea of a mega-buff body with a delicate face.

    53. i think i remember seeing julia say somewhere that neil is not for the new body, and would be too small for it? i think he's the same size as her other heads and is meant for regular 70cm bodies.

    54. @Botflybaby, ah, I hadn't realized the LLT body is that big, I would've imagined it the same neck size as a Dollshe 28.

I hope you are able to get him on the perfect body. I'd love to see your faceup on him! :)

    55. I'm afraid I'm in the same boat, I saw Julia's pics and damn, he's really handsome! I also love the new skin texture finish, it's gorgeous.

    56. yeah ahaz and ludwig are gigantic from what i've heard/seen! i think that is why she isn't offering the heads on their own, since the only body they could ever fit on is the one she made for them. i looked around on LLT facebook and found the comment saying something like "neil is like roderich, an "uncle" sized head" which i guess is 70cm, since i think that is what people use for roderich?

    57. Hey guys! I'm going to join this thread because I have my heart set on ordering Neil when he's released <3 I know she has him on a timeless body... I have an akagi doll 72 cm (11.5 cm neck) and a dollstown 18 yr old body 73cm (10.85 cm neck) coming for other hybrids and I was thinking of seeing how he fits on those.

    58. Still no word on when Neil is coming out? So far I've only see "very soon". I really hope it won't be hard to find him a body.

    59. I skimmed the thread, is it true still that Normal Skin LLT matches okay with Spiritdoll Normal Skin? I'm trying to get plans together for Neil but I don't know what skin color would be the safest bet to order him in. I really like the Spiritdoll body for him though at the moment.
