    3. What an adorable little shop set up. It looks incredible.

    4. Thank you so much Wovenflame. I love to make dollhouses and shops scale 1:12.

    5. I'll just ignore the awesomeness of lace-and-smaller yarn weights and keep on with my love for variegated sock yarn ;)

    6. Lovely, sam! What variegated sock yarn is that to have such regular colour transition?

      • x 1
    7. with such pretty stripes, i'd stick to sock yarn too

    8. I'm working on about a pukipuki size sweater and hat set for my dreamhigh moley. I actually have one sweater done but it came out too tight.

    9. Wow - I'm sticking to 1:3 ratio for my dolly world - that's hard enough LOL

    10. sounds like a good excuse to get a smaller doll, you wouldn't want that hard work to go to waste. realpukis are smaller, or if you stick to dreamhigh maybe you could get a pepper or a turtle sized doll. they are all just a bit smaller than a pukipuki

    11. I THINK it was Gründl Hot Socks, but I do not know for sure, the colourway etc.... sorry!

    12. That turtle is adorable. But for now I just have an extra tiny little sweater.

    13. MSD sweater that I knitted with Fil Fleurs embroidery yarn. Also made the boots and shorts.[IMG]

    14. Beautiful work on her entire ensemble! I recently made my first shoes, so hope to try boots next, if I could find an easy starting pattern.

    15. Thank you, El.

    16. lovely sweaters! for now maybe you could just go with the typical doll house solution and use it as a prop on a hanger then, or thrown over the back of a chair
      that is amazing!

    17. Thanks Auntbear

    18. Kaj wanted a warm cardigan so I knitted one for him.

    19. that looks very warm and cozy, pretty color too

    20. Thank you Auntbear.

    21. What a beautiful cardigan you've made Lelycat !
Kaj's room is great too :love

    22. Thank you Hurrem. Kaj chose a soccer bedroom: Ajax, the Dutch best soccer team.
He has his bed, desk and chair, bookcase etc. in there.

    23. Matilda got a new dress!

I sized it up from @samseramsamsam 's Slim MSD dress pattern! ^3^ (I also had to do increases for days for her ample bust line.)

    26. You achieved such a PERFECT fit! Bravo!

She and her feline companion both have the same 'crazed by catnip' expression. So cute!

Makes me wonder if perhaps she is a Hogwarts fan?

    29. @Lelycat --That's darling!! (I love their room too!)

    30. @Lelycat that is great! i crochet with thread, but have never got around to trying to knit with it. what size needles are those?

    31. Thank you Osaka, they love their Beatrix Potter bedroom.

    32. Thank you, these are 0.7 mm Auntbear

    33. makes sense. i have a pair i used once with cobweb yarn for msd stockings. i need to get them out to make something for my pukipukis. i love the scale you got with yours, it looks so realistic

    34. Thanks a lot. I try to knit in scale and use even thinner sewing yarn for bobbin lace for realpuki but that takes so much time to finish that I often knit something next to it like a dress I knitted for a fiull size bear:)

    35. yeah, that is the problem of knitting in scale. it can take as much time as knitting full sized clothes. but i think the finished look is worth it. i usually alternate between faster and slower projects too, just too keep from getting bored.

Finished Reichenbach's first dress! It's based off @Wovenflame's pattern on Ravelry. I had to make quite a few changes to make it fit, since she's an SD and I wanted to add shoulder straps, but the general idea is still there! (also whoops, the first picture was taken before I blocked it.)

      • x 5
    37. Wow! You did an *amazing* job of fitting it perfectly. What weight of yarn did you use for this larger version? Still just fingering?

    38. Thank you! I actually used size 10 crotchet thread on size 0 (er, 2mm probably) needles, lol. The gauge ended up being roughly 10 stitches per inch so it was really close but not quite the same.

It's kinda funny... I used the same size thread on the white MSD sized dress I made, but after the fact I realized one of my 5 needles was actually a size 1, which I think is why the white one ended up so much lacier looking. (It also explained why it was so hard to figure the gauge on that one, lol)

    39. that would make it a challenge. it's too bad they can't mark the sizes on dpns and circs like they do on straight needles. i'm always trying to figure out what size needles i have and can never find my extra fine needle sizer when i need it so end up squinting at several together and trying to guess how many mm they are by eyeballing them :doh it's really annoying to finish a whole sweater or hat and find out that i used the wrong size needles and it therefore doesn't fit the way i planned!

      that dress fits beautifully though!

    40. I thought I had a great way of figuring out sizes by rolling them in my fingers but I was definitely proven wrong, lol.

I can never find extra fine needle sizers locally and I'm too stubborn to buy online. Might have to break down and do it anyway.

Maybe I'll just cheat and get a vernier caliper at Menards...

    41. The extra cheap Chinese knitting needles come with a needle sizer in each of the individually packaged needles, but they size them in their own sizing system. Search for "13 needles" on ebay in the craft category, and you will see a bunch of them - the packaging is blue. The 13 needle set goes down to #18 which is about 1mm. (There is 11 needle set, but it only has 1.5 mm needle as the smallest.) The price plus shipping is super low, and you get 13 needle gauges, which you will have to mark yourself if you want to, but you are going to be set for life in regards of needle sizers.. The needles are pretty decent with flexible covered in plastic metal cable. The only annoyance is the cable does conduct electricity just enough to fool my Kindle, and it tries to turn pages if the cable touches the screen by accident. I use the needles for a few years now, and have never had a cable breakage, although a few needles had some uneven spots here and there. Since the whole set costs as half of an Addi needle, and it offers such tiny sizes, they became my most used kind of needles.

I am watching the thread, and admiring all the beautiful work. I am knitting for my off topic dolls lately, so nothing to show there, unfortunately.

    42. I found those needles not sharp enough, although I did try to file them. I found some turbo lace circs on ebay, so got the smaller sizes, down to 1.5m. I also have a set of 1.25m steel dpns, as small as these old eyes can go these days.

    43. I keep all my needles that are under 2mm in a separate little case and I have more than one needle sizer in there too. HiyaHiya has a good one. Needle sizers also come with every set of the inexpensive circular needle sets from China that are sold on eBay.

As soon as possible after using a set I get them back into their labelled sleeve as well.

    44. I try to put my needles away promptly but I sometimes have more than one project on the go, with knitting especially these days. I didn't when I was still knitting for my humans! I recently got that HiyaHiya needle sizer and keep it beside my comfy chair. I had a sizing ruler for years but it doesn't go below 2m whereas the HiyaHiya goes down to .7m

    45. i can never find anything extra fine locally we only have a walmart or michaels here. our lys closed up a year ago and hasn't found a new location to reopen :( so i have to get all my stuff online. (though walmart does sell crochet hooks down to 1.mm which is really odd since they don't sell the matching thread!)

i periodically go through and try and organize all my needles and put them in ziploc bags by size. the problem is that like you i often have several projects on the go at once and have to try and remember/guess what size i was using once they are done. a lot of my knitting/crocheting is done at my kids frequent drs appointments so i always have an assortment of projects partly done and at the don't need the pattern/doll. i just grab a couple of them before i go out the door and stick them in my stitching bag. every time i finish up a project i start another one or two and get it to that point, since i hate sitting with nothing to do!

i have a hiya hiya sizer .....somewhere. usually when i find it i do the sort into bags binge ;)

    46. I guess it depends on the Walmart. The one by me carries size 20 and sometimes 30. Anything finer I have to take a trip to Micheals. I bought 3 small balls of size 80 thread when they were on clearance. Kicking myself not buying the stock up. Suck you have to resort to online to get finer yarn/threads for doll clothes. I did tried separating red heart yarn to knit with one strand. To much work, and it ends up being close to sock weight in the end.

    47. i tried separating yarn too... once. decided i'd rather pay the extra for lace weight! i just didn't have the patience to untwist the yarn! besides i'm a bit of a yarn snob, i like the way natural fibers drape better than acrylic. my favorites to work with are silk or bamboo. i love the way the sweaters hang when they are done! lucky for me most of my dolls are small and don't take a lot of yarn to make a sweater so i can indulge that way. :)

    48. I'm with auntbear! If I am going to take the time to knit something, I want the good results you get from a quality yarn. Natural fibers feel better to me when working with them.

    49. Ralph (IH Owen) will be alright once I finish his warm sweater. Now for the sleeves.[IMG]

    50. Getting a new sweater leaves him headless... poor guy!

    51. yes and when you turn the picture you see his wondering face telling me to hurry up!

    52. Gorgeous. He is going to be very happy with it when it is done.

    53. Finished![IMG]

    54. great sweater! looks very warm, and the texture/color are both perfect for a guy

    55. It looks great on him! ^-^
