My first try was a mixed success. I cut the calves a little too skinny and couldn't close them except by lacing around the outside. I also had may brain-dead moments fo frustration where I sewed the pieces together wrong. Does anyone have step-=by-step instructions or pictures they could share? It would really help!
Your link no longer works, sadly. Could you link it through a new source so that I might be able to use this pattern?
Did anyone copy the pattern to someplace else? Can you find it again? I would be very interested in making boots for my girl, but the link doesn't work.
I'd be interested in this pattern, too. Would it be possible to repost a new link to it since GeoCities is closed? Thanks!
sorry about that, http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a191/seraphim_grace/?action=view¤t=bootpatternmsd.jpg I'll fix it on the first page as well
Thanks so much for this pattern and am dying to try it but still waiting for my first doll. I also thought of making some soles in Fimo with different canes. Please send pics those who is trying this .
O: I know this has been said a lot, but thank you SO MUCH for this! I'm going to try this pattern as soon as I have time! :3
This is absolutely wonderful! I struggled with it at first, but now I've got the basics down and I can make all the beautiful shoes I want to buy online! Thank you for this!
My new RS/BBB Song, Durion, is MSD size so I decided to try making him some boots using this pattern and the sewing machine. Thank you Seraphim for the pattern! It wasn't hard at all and worked out pretty well, though I had to adjust the pattern pieces to fit Durion better. Here are a couple of pictures of the three pairs of boots I made. The first pair I made were done in tan suede cloth. They are soft and loose and go on and off easily--wide on his feet, but okay. The soles and heel pieces were cut from craft foam and hot glued to the bottoms of the boots. Second pair of boots were the black ones, made of soft black leather-look vinyl with white fuzzy backing. I adjusted the pattern pieces for a closer fit on his legs and feet. I left the back seam of the boot open from the ankle up, and stitched in narrow strips of velcro to close them. I put thicker craft foam soles on these boots, a double layer of foam, and hot glued ribbon around the boot over the side edges of the soles to cover the joins. I like them a lot, but I think I'd rather not have the soles so thick. Third pair were the brown ones Durion is wearing, made of a stiffer brown leather-look vinyl with a tight knit backing. I adjusted the patterns again for a narrower fit on his foot, and I did the velcro closure up the back again. I like the soles better on these, one layer of foam plus a foam heel, with the ribbon glued around the soles again. I really like this pattern and I'm happy I found it! I didn't have any trouble making the boots on the sewing machine (but then I've had experience making doll shoes on the sewing machine). If you are going to try it too, my only suggestion would be to check the fit on your own doll's legs and feet, and adjust the pattern if necessary to fit the way you want. Different fabrics will also make the fit very different, so take that into account also.
I don't have my girl yet but I can't wait to try these! I'll probably use stiff cardboard for the soles, I have tons of old sketch books lying around I can take the backs off of. XD
Thank you very much for posting this pattern and the detailed instructions. I'll give it a try as soon as I find fitting material!
Thank you very much for the boots pattern. I hope to try it one of these days. Thanks also for the how-tos, and to all those who posted photos. Well done!
Thanks so much for sharing! Does anyone know how much seam allowance to put in? I'm afraid the boots might come out too small.
I'll definitely have to try making these! My girl has boots, but they don't go with her current style...
The link in the first post works just fine. The issue is with you and your computer. I had no trouble getting the pattern.
When i try to open the pattern I have this error: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. "); vertical-align: bottom; height: 10px;"><Error> <Code>AccessDenied</Code> <Message>Access Denied</Message> <RequestId>FF52EB388AA95937</RequestId> <HostId>zdqfvYj2AgYB3OcLcMeoSibufJDgrkV3mTEDduQwVRMCxxiGtUFdXsRp3t5QOZjYCVVDKgr1seY=</HostId> </Error> Does anybody knows if we can still find it? I tried on 2 different browsers already. Thanks!
I think its just gone. You can try looking at this youtube vid, but the pattern itself you have to make your own.
