Hope arrived and I compared her with Iplehouse Daisy. Their feet are almost identical in size. Their body measurements are pretty close. These are the eyes she came with, quite vibrant. Hope by Laurie W, on Flickr
She's a beautiful sculpt. I don't think a single Jpop doll of mine ever kept the eyes they came with. It's good to know the minis are comparable to Iplehouse KIDs in size. But I think I'll wait until my Missy arrives before making her anything to wear. Of course that will still be a VERY LONG time from now.
Today is National Polar Bear Day, and my three little girls are out in the blizzard with their friend...
Not much action here...... I wanted to take some photos of Iplehouse FID Miho, and wanted some smaller fairies, but the smaller Iplehouse BIDs and KIDs have way too big an out-of-scale head to work with her, so I opted for my three KW tinies, since they have the same smaller size heads....
Yes, she is. There's Cinnamon, Tillie, Nutmeg, Raillie, Tiny Talyssa, (and maybe another one or two?) and then the new 'mini' size (Mini Hope, Mini Miki, Mini Missy, Mini Layla, etc) technically are classified as 'tiny' as well, even though they are bigger than the original 'tiny' group. And then there's Teeny Tiny Gracie, who is the smallest of all.
LOL. More like I'm getting 'lazy' in my old age, and those three were the only ones standing around in their fairy costumes at the time. Still are.
My little wood-nymph, Willowbark (Sage) has never had anything that looked more-fae-than-human wear, until yesterday when I was taking her to a Midsummers Night's Dream themed meet and in deperation I snipped the net veils off two doll's medieval headdresses that have never been worn and took about two minutes, a knot, and two eslasticated bead bracelets to throw together this barely-there ensemble for her: I like it better than any of the more substantial outfits I've put her in - which I guess means I need to get around to making her something along these lines that is less thrown-together... I have a little visitor staying with me until the end of this month and she's pretty darn cute! by daisydayes, on Flickr
Yes, she is! I saw her on RC and before reading who she was, I thought she looked an awful lot like Tillie, then her hands gave her away. And sure enough she is a very rare Tillie.
My Mini Missy arrived today, and she has way brighter red makeup that expected- especially on her nose - so I took a series of photos inspired by her colouring.... first, 'Cold Missy'
Sweet. Although I don't think the redder cheeks and nose would have been much noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. Not in pictures at any rate. Perhaps it shows more in person? Is it something that will bother you in the long-term? Some years ago, I had my RML twins come back from getting new face-ups looking (to me) like they had scarlet fever. The blotchy, heightened colour didn't show up in pictures, but I couldn't bear seeing it on them like that every day, so they had to go away for a rest-cure and came home free of the infection. Teddy
I think the bright colours of her clown outfit camouflage the bright faceup. In real life it is just too much. This photo captures it more... I've already spoken to my faceup artist, and when she gets back from her vacation, she will see what she can do about it. Whether she can tone it down, or if Missy will need a whole new faceup.
Well red nose or not, she certainly looks darn pretty in all your photos Martha! I absolutely adore "Cold Missy"!!
Thanks! I was determined to try make the best of a disappointing situation. There was still one more in the series.... Sad Missy....
Oh that's a great photo too! Is that real melted ice cream or milk that you have used there? You are really very clever with your photography, I love how you pose your dolls.
It was real ice cream, and in the first photos I took, her cone was standing up in it, but it melted super fast in the heat
Thanks you! I really thought so! I didn't know that she was on preorder this spring, so no one else has her yet.
I didn't know she was on preorder either. I went to see if she was in Jpop's site yesterday and could find nothing. I just thought that maybe she was an older doll that I missed. Congrats again, I love her.
I think she was on preorder back in May. I only know because someone on FB asked when their's was coming, since I had one already, and someone else said it was still way too soon. So I guess I was extra lucky.
Oh my, Layla makes a wonderful elf, I'm not at all surprised you won her in a photography contest though, your photos are always so gorgeous! I have a normal Mini Layla which I love.
I have always loved Layla, and have two bigger versions. I love the Mini size. It's so much more versatile, at least for me. I'd trade all my MSD versions for a Mini one. I never did show my 'new and improved' Mini Missy. She had her red nose removed, some new blush and freckles added, and now I'm in love with her. She's currently a little lavender fairy....
Oh me too Martha, I really love this size doll and have quite a few. Your Missy is gorgeous, and so perfectly dressed for a Lavender Fairy, she reminds me of the fairies drawn by Cicely Mary Barker.
Hi all! I have a Mini Missy and need some new eyes for her. The Wiggs site says she takes a 12mm, but this doesn’t seem to be a standard size. Does she take another size well? I’ve been out of the BJD world for a while. What is a good source for glass eyes?
My Mini Missy has 10 mm eyes. I didn't like how the 12 mm filled her eye hole so much. Sorry, I don't have any recommendations for where to buy them. I just use eyes I have in my stash - glass or acrylic, makes no difference to me.
They are some of the most adorable little girls. Really stunning photo. Your home must be so festive with all the help you have.
Thank you! I'm loving the Minis. They are so much easier for me to work with. My husband does most of the real home decorating. I just decorate for my dolls.
LOL. No, they just had a chance to play in a room that had already been decorated by someone else. But they did have a chance to play in the snow....
Thanks. I've having to make do with my backyard this summer, since we can't go anywhere. So I bought several pots with small scale flowers to use in the settings.
Your palette, as always, is so well-considered, and your composition is perfection. No one else comes close! This one looks like a Renaissance painting, except with fairies.
