Ixtee Mui-Chan & Fat-Chai Discussion

Aug 18, 2010

    1. I just checked--No movement again today!
Anyone know when Chinese New Year ends? Not that I want their happy celebrations to end any sooner just so I can get my doll!!! But just wondering!
Ohlala you will get that grumpy face! And if someone offers you an older face they may also be selling the body--as long as you buy the body too you won't have a problem. GOOD LUCK in your search!

    2. I meant SINCE the 6th, lol. No progress as of this morning :( The New Year was on the 10th so maybe they'll be off the whole week?

      Thank you! I hope I do. I wouldn't mind a second Mui-Chan one bit!

    3. My Mui Chan Cafe arrived yesterday (a fantastic Valentines day surprise!)

She was beautifully packaged and has lovely faceplates :aheartbea

Here she is meeting her new sister (and still un-boxed!)

And her she is after being de-boxed and picking out a pretty outfit to wear (Her name is Kiki)

I hope your Mui Chan Cafe's arrive for you very soon..you are in for a treat :)

    4. Here is the status on my Mui-chan V7:

"Your item has been processed through a sort facility in HONG KONG, HONG KONG at 11:34 am on February 09, 2013".

Its said that for two days now. :(

Your Kiki is SUCH a Peach! Are those sweet little black shoes the ones that came with her? They are SWEET! I love the buckles!

I think she really adores that bear too!

    5. PS-- HA HA!! I love that those little Easter Chicks got dressed up for the occassion!! TOO CUTE!

    6. Mine arrived Friday afternoon too! I love the packaging, it's awesome and of course she's adorable. So tiny and different compared to my Pukifees and Latis. I love her. I can't for the life of me put her wig on though, lol.

    7. They are her stock shoes..they are so sweet!

Here are a few pics of Kiki with her other faceplate and her other hands..she and Mika my Wolfy Mui Chan had a bit of a tea party today :)

Congrats on your girl arriving Ohlala ~ try giving her wig a gentle stretch before trying to fit it on her head..the elastic is very tight but it does give a little once it's been used :)

    8. Awww all your Mui Chan´s are sooo cute ^^ I have the School Girl Version on the way and cant wait to show pics of her <3

    9. Oh lovely..big congrats!Looking foward to seeing pics of your girl when she arrives :)

    10. Kiki is a LIVING DREAM! Your pics are EYE CANDY as always! My Version 7 has landed in Washington DC so it won't be long now!! It's actually my Version 3 Laughing face that is waiting to play with the new STOP hand! She has wanted that hand For Years!! She has big plans for it.

    11. My Mui7 is in town now-- she will likely be delivered today but I won't be able to sign for her so will likely not see her until tomorrow unless the people at home get to the door faster than usual. The postman doesn't wait more than two seconds before he leaves the "Pick it up at the post office yourself" slip.

    12. Mui-chan thinks I should clean up my workbench before Version 7 arrives!!

    13. Fab pic ~ I love her grumpy face so much! :aheartbea
Has your Mui Cafe arrived to you yet?I must say I thought even the packaging was supercute :)

    14. She did! :sweat I left work at lunch and picked her up! :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea I am having SO MUCH fun with her and I agree- the packaging is WONDERFUL!
      :chocoberry
The foam design was new with Version 6 and now seems to be the standard packaging which I am so glad for because it makes for super storage when you aren't playing with this bit or that! Plus they are so safe during the long trip from Hong Kong!
      ;)

I hope to get some more pics taken soon now that I have my camera going! I don't have any cute sets like yours but I have toys and furniture and odds and ends because I always INTEND to make a diorama with with props, but then I am always working on someones else dolls! My own dolls don't get as much play time as I would like! So, anyway, don't expect anything as cute as what you are doing, but you have inspired me to try and come up with something beyond taking pics of my dolls on my messy bench!:)

    15. I am really looking forward to seeing more Mui Chan pics and I do like seeing pics of dolls amongst our big human sized stuffs..it always looks really cute :)

    16. Omg my Mui Chan arrived and i restringed and sueded her, because her body is ..... not thaaat good ^^ But now its "ok". Maybe i can give her an other body ^^

    17. Hi There-- she is SO SWEET!

It is true--- The Back to School and earlier versions had bodies that were very "Kicky" and hard to keep a pose, but any body from Verison 4 onward will give you no trouble. You obviously have no problem with stringing. Just buy a body from a version that is 4 or beyond and you can restring with the old Head backplate so you can keep that happy laughing face!

IXtee's newer bodys are very nice to pose now. I switched my Version3 Back to School, with a version 5 Bathing Duck body and she is a joy to play with and pose now!

HAVE FUN and Congratulations on the adoption!

    18. Awww really!? After the 3 Version the Bodies are no more pain in the ass?! DAMN ^^ But i love her even if she is a bit strange. After restringing and sueding she is a bit more of a ballet dancer ^^

    19. HA! I love this PIC! She looks like Fembot!! Somebody call the Bionic Woman (Ok now I am showing my age!)

Yes, It's true- After V3 they started gtting the bodies right! BUT you honestly can't BEAT that big laughing face! It's one of my two all time Favorite Mui-chan Faces and the girl now has 11 different faces (umm or maybe 12--gotta think hard here) And this face you got is a MUST have in my opinion!

I wish they would make more magnetic shoes in different styles. I also wouldn't mind some different foot positions since the ankle joint doesn't pivot as well as Fairyland--- but then Fairyland jointowrk can kind of spoil you for anything else! LOL. But Mui-chan has it ALL OVER any of the other dolls for personality thanks to the variety of faces! My doll world could NOT exist with little Mui!

    20. Thank you! Oh yes, we need more magnetic shoes ^^ i hate the magnet connection on this body, everything is not really save with the magnets, i always have to watch out that i don´t loose a thing -.- but i love Mui so much!!!!

    21. Goodbye Winter!! Mui-chan and I are READY for Spring! Here in the USA we have this odd practice of adjusting time twice a year with the seasons. Next week we turn the clocks ahead an hour-- and so gain an extra hour of sunlight! Its the first sign of Spring around here!

    22. Live long and Prosper to you too, Mui Chan! What a happy face...

    23. LOL! I always think that about this hand too! It is so Trekkie!

    24. I love the little 'moon boots' too.

Twiddle66 -- may I ask how long you've had your Mui Chan? Do you have just the one? Sorry if I sound nosy, but you seem to have a good understanding of their history (and thanks for sharing it!) especially regarding what face plates will fit and which versions are better posers...
I'm falling hard for doll but I'm not bowled over by the waitress theme that's open at this time and I was wondering how often they have a new theme. From the flickr page, it seemed like it took a very long time between announcement and release of Ver.7 -- is there really just one or two releases a year? The ordering period has been open for a long time -- will it close without warning?
As you can see, I'm trying to decide if a little Mui Chan waitress now is better than waiting another year, Mui Chan-less, in hopes I like that one better :)

    25. Hi, Icicle-- I don't mind you asking at all. I don't normally talk about what I have because its just not me--I am more of closet collector rather than someone who likes to show their entire collection, but I do have all the versions of Mui-chan except for the tan version 1 and the Gingerbread Baby. I've been collecting for about two and a half years and did have to buy some of my sets second hand and on Ebay because Mui-chan has been out for almost twice that time and I missed the first year and a half of her "life".

They do really only put out approximately one version a year now. In th second year they did issue two versions (2 and 3)but then it slowed down to one. They often try to get a limited special version squeezed in there. I love making Mui-chan Friends because there are not too many of us on DOA and its nice to meet other collectors and share mui-chan adventures!

The waitress theme did not appeal to me either but I am an avid collector so I bought the set and was really glad I did because the new Yummy face is even cuter in person! They also released a "thumbs up" hand and a "stop" hand in this set that are very versatile for posing. The shoes that come with the set are very nice form fitting maryjanes and will work for alot of outifts. PLUS- for a new collector like yourself- this set came with the standard shy smile faceplate---and they don't release that with every version. If you wait a year you may get two cool new faceplates but no standard face.
You won't want to keep Mui-chan in just one outfit anyway, once you see how cute she is in clothes. She is skinnier than Lati yellow and Puki-fee and so she looks even nicer in clothes because they don't "bulk out" and look stuffed.

And there is generally no warning when they sell out. They just one day have a grey sold out sign on the pic and thats it til next year. I think the black and white waitress outfit may not have appealed to alot of Mui-chan collectors because its kind of grown up for her. She is only 5 years old and the outfit looks kind of mature. I think most Mui-chan collectors like their Mui-chans very young looking. I think the costume would have been more appealing if they had made it look like a makeshift waitress outfit thrown together by a little girl "pretending" to be a waitress.

That being said, once you get her you will want to try alot of different looks on her and will have a great time doing it! I think you should go for it!

    26. PS-- since version 5 all the muichan faceplates fit the same head back really nicely---so if you buy this year next years faceplates will fit really nice too! Then you'l have 4 faces! LOL

    27. My goodness, you *ARE* the Mui Chan person to talk to, aren't you! Wow, that's a fantastic collection you have -- I'm sure all of us would love to see more photos (hint hint:) )...

I actually wrote to ixteedoll yesterday asking when the Cafe Ver7 order period would close and was basically told "when they sell out" but no other idea of when that might be, how close they are to that, or how many they planned to sell. I started digging in this thread and it seemed she was a little harder to get in the first few years with immediate sellouts but I'm glad she's still available in some form or another now and that they keep upgrading her body to make her better. Long live Mui Chan!

So she's supposed to be 5 years old ... that's funny as I have a 6 year old and I was pegging her more at about 7 or 8. I think that's because I've seen her around flickr dressed a bit more sedately than most 5 yr olds I know, lol! I have to say, ixtee does do some beautiful clothing. I could easily spend the price of a doll on the cute balloon shorts and funny tees and polo shirts they have. I like that Mui's a skinny leggy kid and I agree that Latis and Pukis can look a bit pudgy baby for my tastes too. But then, I have a skinny leggy kid so I guess that's why it appeals. I actually thought she was taller than the other two, but again, it's just those cute legs...

Sigh... the Waitress... the shy face is perfect, the hands too, I know that the basic mary janes are excellent and that the black dress could be 'cute Alice gothic' if I tried... and I don't really mind that it's an older look as I tend to make my dolls older anyway ... but I have to say it's the yummy face that's really holding me back. The lollipop and straw faces I find funny in a cute un-selfconscious kid way but yummy is a little too cartoony funny and I'm having trouble seeing myself wanting to use it. I guess I could sell it but I absolutely hate breaking up a set.

Well... I'm tapped out of dolly funds this month anyway (I fell for the Lati SP release, I do love odd sized dolls) so I'll have to wait and see if she's still around in April or wait til next year I guess. Lati does seem to be sabotaging my Mui plans lately -- I almost picked up the Big Bad Wolf set in the Marketplace in January but had ordered a Lati Green just before I saw it instead. Stupid Lati... :)

Perhaps some yummy spam to help me wait? Thanks for chatting!

    28. Icicle I totally get that! LOL--While I do have an extensive Mui-chan Collection I must admit my BJD collection is not terribly diverse!! Not due to lack of love or admiration of other types of BJD- but because my funds are not unlimited! So like you I have had to concentrate on my main interest! I do also have some Fairyland Pukipuki's and have a Pukifee on order and have a couple Real Puki's but no where near what I would LIKE! I did recently delve into Luts Tiny Delf. I bought a special version Hansel Head in Tan with acute smiling mouth--BUT I do not even have a body for him and will have to wait a while to put one on order!

I've always thought Lati Dolls have such beautiful faces-- but have always bee afraid to buy one and start yet another addiction! This Luts head is gonna be a problem! I forced myself off the site last night! LOL

OK- Here is my Lollypop Mui-chan dressed in a some SPRING duds! I want to make this pic my New posting icon but can't figue out how to get that to work! LOL
      [IMG]

    29. Aw yay! What a happy face! My daughter loves lollies so this face is my favorite. Thanks Twiddle66!

Cafe is still open for orders.... c'mon April... ;)

    30. Hey Icicle. I've been AWOL since losing my little Shih-Tzu. But I am starting to come back to life. I thought of you the other day because its April now and The IXDoll site still shows Mui-chan available for purchase! Have you ordered one yet?

    31. No! I've been bad again. I caved on a secondhand Lati impulse buy and then managed to score a spot for some needed face-ups, so April dolly money has been committed -- rather unceremoniously actually but both deals were too good to pass up. But! I have been checking every day just to see if she's still available despite my fickleness. At the end of this month, I finish my layaway for a DC Ada, so I should be clear for May.

I'm shooting for May! Hear that ixtee? Keep it going til then!
(I often joke with my dh "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a dolly today", my personal variation on Wimpy's hamburger cry)

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, Twiddle66 Although resin can't replace a pet's love, I hope Mui is helping to put a smile back on your face and making each day a little easier.

    32. Thanks Icicle! I really miss her so much! I couldn't do anything fun for weeks without feeling weird. I finally had to break down and go to a Shih-Tzu rescue and adopt someone unwanted and as lonely as me--and it has helped so much! Now I have a new little Boy and we are getting on very well, and while I still get weepy for my girl it is good to have the new baby to divert my mind.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for May for you too! If not there will be another versionfor you I am sure, but I think we'll have alot of fun in here once you get a Nui-chan! I've got to go catch up at Flickr and the other sites! I've missed alot!

    33. This made me giggle, because I just saw footage of the "Fembots" the other day...we introduced our kids to Steve Austin and Jaime Sommers - it's great to screen TV series that don't have unexpected cuss words or too much skin showing - more than that I shall not say because my age is DEFINITELY showing:lol:

I totally agree with you, Twiddle66! My doll world would not be complete without little Mui...cheers!!

    34. Oh man that lollipop mui-chan is the cutest thing!!

    35. I know, that lollipop face was the expression I wanted most as my 6 yr old daughter would look like that everyday if I let her... :)

--My order is marked shipped but Hong Kong Post tracking doesn't seem to work for US shipments (nor does USPS with their numbers) -- Anyone recall how long packages take? I ordered a wig from Hong Kong a few weeks ago and I'm thinking at least 1 week if not slightly more... (why yes, I *am* a little impatient ;) )

    36. HEY!! Thats FABULOUS! I am so glad you found a set! HURRAY! I know she is the one you wanted most! :fangirl:

Who did you order from? I know it never takes IXTEE's shipments to take more than one week on average for me. There were a couple times when HONG KONG Customs held it up a week longer and one time that NY Customes held it up three weeks, but generally a week is about right. But thats IXTEE. They are pretty fast.

I bought privately from a person in Hong Kong and it took several weeks to get, and I ordered some magnets from a company in Hong Kong and it took two weeks. but I've also ordered clothes and wigs from people in China and its taken about a week on average so I'd say one week is not unrealistic at all!

I am just THRILLED for you! Did you get the complete set with the teddy bear rain slicker?

    37. Yep! I got a complete fullset direct from Ixtee!! Squee!!
I'd posted a wanted notice on the flickr group and got an FM from another fan saying she'd just bought one that week and that Ixtee had mentioned to her that they had an extra set that was pre-ordered but never purchased. I never imagined that would happen and it never occurred to me to ask them -- I'm so glad someone was not as resigned/practical/shy as me -- and she bothered to let me know!

My shipping # started working as of June 29th -- I'm hoping for beginning of next week :)

    38. WOW! That’s an extremely Rare event! LOL—Its almost just like this set was MEANT for you!

It would be less incredible if it was the Mui-chan Café set which just closed. But to snag a sold out set from over a year ago is just AMAZING!

Lollipop Face is one of my all-time favorites. When I first saw it I was like “Gee what am I going to do with a face that constantly has a Lolly in it. BUT you’ll be surprised at how that face in any situation can add a second or third emotional dimension to the scene.

Pose Mui-chan with her normal face in a candy shop and you get one thing, same face while Mui-chan is in a recliner watching TV is another, and put her in her little tikes car or playing with a toy and you get another feeling. Now switch in the Lollypop face and all those scenes take on another meaning.

Am I just sounding weird? LOL I guess I take my Mui-chan world way to seriously! Haha!

The drinking face can be used for blowing bubbles or whistling scenes, kissing etc. too!

At first glance the faces seem to have one use, but they are really very versatile.

I am so happy for you that you snagged one of these sets! They are really fun!

I’ll bet,Unless US Customs does something goofy, she should be in your hands really soon!

    39. I know, right? I still can't believe it... All my waffling on the Cafe set was fate telling me to be patient! lol!

And I know just what you mean about the faceplates bringing such variety to the same pose. That's why we pay ridiculous amounts of money for them -- they're so versatile it's like having dozens of static dolls all rolled into one -- change the eyes, wigs and faceplates and a totally different mood, personality, or character can emerge. Not weird at all! Add in the ability to pose the bodies into myriad scenarios and... yeah... they are so cool!....

Hong Kong Post... not so cool... sigh...

I've been looking at "Accepted for Departure" as of June 28th which has just today been updated to
"The item will leave Hong Kong for its destination on 20-Jul-2013" --

whaaaa ??????????? It has not even left Hong Kong and won't until the 20th??? ahhhhhhhhghhghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

USPS tracking is slightly more reassuring: [TABLE="width: 958"]

... in other words... little Mui is on the slow boat from China...
Ah well, more time to make some clothes for her, I guess.

    40. HI, Don't let the date on the Hong kong site get you down. They are not always accurate. The time Hong kong held mine up it was static the whole 3 weeks--with no updates like you've had. Sometimes they have updated with afar off date like that and then I get it here in the states 4 or 5 days later. It is weird that everything in China seems to have slowed down though. Even the China doll face book pages like Mui-chans page are not being updated as much as normal. I wonder if some kind of summer holiday is going on?

Well, the Important thing is YOU GOT HER!!! That is an incredible feat in itself considering its been sold out for SO LONG already!

Get to work on those clothes! She loves dressing up and if you disappoint her she make that sticky lolly out of her mouth and stick it in your hair while your sleeping! LOL

    41. sigh... still no Mui Chan...

Hong Kong Post lists the package as 'shipped on July 20' but USPS has no updates. It's been over a month so I emailed Ixtee but didn't get a response.
I guess I better finish those two sleeves on her hoodie or she's never going to arrive!

    42. WOW! Thats Strange! I wonder if Hong Kong is on some kind of major Holiday which delayed everything? I know in the UK August is the month for holiday.

There has not been an update to Mui-chans Facebook page in two weeks. No changes at the online shop either, and I also emailed my friend there to ask about any upcoming releases with no reply. And Sui Dings Flickr acct has had no new pictures added to it in a week or two- maybe more. It almost seems like all of China is on Holiday!

What an awful wait for you! I am so sorry! I usually get things from them so fast-- but Like I said there was that ONE time.....Hmmmmmm I wonder if that was in July or August?

    43. Welp, no Mui Chan yet -- it's been almost two months -- but I did finally get a reply form Ixtee that (sort of) clears things up a bit. It appears that Hong Kong Post DID put little Mui on the slow boat even though Ixtee paid for airmail. Ha! Ixtee was not pleased. They have rquested a track on the package since by now it's also uncomfortably late even for boat mail.

I'm hoping she's not lost, poor thing. I'd rather she was languishing in customs than that!

patience is a virtue.... patience is a virtue.... patience is a virtue....

    44. OH MY GOSH! How Horrible for you!! This is the FIRST and ONLY time I have heard of such a thing happening and I am really sorry you must endure it. I think it wikll all trun out in the end but you've wanted this exact set for so long--Its just like a Cosmic Tease or Joke or something!

Please keep me updated. I am praying for you and Mui-chan!

    45. Lol! I know... It was supposed to be an instant gratification thing -- ROFL! Now, it's more like a normal pay-n-wait doll order with questionable shipping. Ah well, I still have faith she's not lost, just delayed. The only thing that gives me pause is I don't know if Ixtee put insurance on it. It's a risk, I guess but if she turns up -- what a pay-off!
Thanks for the positive thoughts -- at this point, it's all I've got :)

    46. SHE"S HEERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything is A-Okay! by icewerks, on Flickr

Mui Chan is in the house!

The box looks worse for wear but no damage... whew!... My mailman delivered it to my door since he knew she was 'lost' and that I had been worried. He said the stamps were for airmail so it was Hong Kong Post's fault she was shipped by boat, not Ixtee's. Ah well, all's well that end's well...

I love her posing ability, right out of the box-- rock solid! Her feet are a bit loose -- and those duck feet are nothin' but trouble-- but I like the easy swap out. Do you use the Coke bottle straw for her lolly stick? It seems a bit long.

      yay! I'm so relieved...

    47. Thats Great! I am so HAPPY FOR YOU!! I was really starting to worry! She is adorable and boy does she look thrilled to have gotten out of that box! She was stuck in there a LOOOOOoonggggg Time!

About the Lolly stick---its a seperate stick. Maybe its fallen into the packaging? Its a shorter, straight stick thats slightly tapered on the end that you stick in the face. Its just a little peice of white resin. If its gone missing you could easily make one out of a splinter off of a toothpic or some white craft wire. Otherwise, I would contact IXTEE and tell them how it is missing if you can't find it. They should be able to ship a replacement to you easily after all you've been through!

I am worried about IXTEE actually. All thei Mui-chan Ebay listings have disappeared and now today I visited the website and every single thing is being listed as out of stock. I also can not get a reply from my contact there for anything. They haven't updated Muichans facebook page in weeks and weeks and Sui Dings flicker page has not had any new pics added to the mui-chan album in even longer.

In the Spring the gave a teaser about the return of their rabbit dolls Mika and Pika and said they were "coming soon" and yet nothing came.

Does anyone here know if IXTEE is going out of business?

    48. Hay! Whaaa???? NOOOOooooooooo! They have disappeared. Oh. no. I didn't get a response when I emailed them she had turned up either. Oh dear, I hope it's just an overhaul... Now, I'm worried too...

No extra stick I can see but now I know to search the packaging more closely, thank you!

eta: I emailed Ixtee on their contact tab to ask if they plan to re-stock. I've been eyeing some extras but wanted to wait until my package arrived before I ordered. My husband joked "Maybe that's why Mui took so long to get here, she had to escape and row her way to freedom before she went down with the ship." Nice try dear, but not funny in light of current lack of on-line presence...

    49. Yeah, between you and me and anyone else that ever pokes their head in here I am worried. Version 7 with the little sexy french maid kind of thing really didn't fit the "Mui-chan" vibe with alot of collectors I know. I don't think she sold as well as hoped. It took longer to sell out than any Mui-chan ever had and most people said it was to do with the Lolita costume.

I am hoping they just are deep in development of new stuff, but its REALLY weird for Sui Ding not to be taking any pics of the dolls on her travels. In the past if she did make a trip to the factories for development we would see pics on Flickr and also some on facebook of Mui in the airport or at a train station or a restaurant or a different city scape. None of that for a month and a half now and then today the strange way everything went from in stock yesterday to out of stock today--like they flipped a switch so no new orders could be placed.

I also think its hard for a company to keep momentum with collectors when they make offerings of new dolls only once a years as IXTEE has been doing with Mui-chan. They should have some standard dolls that are available more regularly, and then do the full set "versions" once a year. That way collectors can stay excited. With so many BJD companies out there now, if you aren't constantly offering something you are losing customers doll money to some other companies preorders.

Lets keep praying they make an appearance very soon!

    50. Glad and sad to read this. Since I noticed the same thing just yesterday :(
I am also not getting any answers to my messages through the Ixdoll site.
Hope they will be re-opening soon!!

    51. Sorry for just barging in. I am a long time member, but I don't post. I have 3 Mui-chans, and enjoy reading the posts. I checked out their Ebay store and it says that they are gone until December 30, 2013. I really hope they come back with some great new items/dolls.

    52. That is good to hear!It would be so sad if these sweet little dolls were no longer being made :(
I am hoping that Ixtee will be back and maybe re-stock Fat Chai and a bring out a new Mui Chan..

It would be nice if they started stocking replacement parts such as hands, feet and a basic smiley faceplate..I love my Mui's but do not like taking them outside for photo's as I am terrified of losing a hand/foot and having no way to replace it..

    53. Thanks for mentioning it -- I feel better now! I hope they do come out with a January release again...

Yes, this! Those magnets are awfully weak and I seem to dislodge a foot very easily...

    54. My Mui girls always wear long socks or tights now..just so they cannot lose a foot ;)

    55. That is an excellent idea. Part of the reason I wanted to re-order from Ixtee was to get those vinyl sneakers and some long socks...
