SO CUTE!! I just love your shane! There is nothing wrong with her leg---That's just version 3 Back To School---some of the earlier versions of Mui-chan had "kicky" legs. Version 3 had more of that than any other version. IXTEE has totally resolved that now. Ever since version 4 the joints have been alot easier to pose and don't kick back as easy. Do you know how to restring dolls? If you do sometimes restringing Mui-chan version 3 really helps with the poseability. Even so- the early faces are all so charming that its worth the fussy posing issues to have them! If you ever get one of the new Muichans you will be amazed at how nice the pose now----and I bought an extra bathing duck set and restrung her using my version 3 head backplate-- so now the version 3 faces fit on the sturdier body. One of these days I am going to get a video camera and load a restringing how to on Youtube for anyone that wants to play around with that. I am so happy you got a version 3---I think she is the hardest to find now-- the nest hardest is the wolf grinning faceplate----with the exception of the laughing tan set from the gingerbread Mui- or any of the playsets that came with hands and faces--those are so tough! Shane is a Cutie- Please keep posting pics!!
ohhh thanks for the heads up! I can't even get her to stand just way too floppy so I will look into getting her re-strung.
Hi Twiddle66 and redmara. Both of your dollies are so cute! I am re-discovering just how cute this dolly is! I am very excited. I am thinking about ordering the "Play with Me" set. What do you think? Have you heard anything Twiddle, about them shipping yours to you, yet? How does it work on the Ixtee site? How long do they usually sell versions before they sell out? I luv limited dolls, but it can be frustrating if you miss the ones you want and if you don't have the money at the time. lol Twiddle, what was your shipping price like? Are you in the US? I was wondering. I really like Mui Chan and I like Hin Hin too. I really wish I could get them both. I supose Hin Hin will be sold out in a while if I don't get him now? Sadly, I just cannot afford both of them. I would have to choose one. I think I would have to choose Mui Chan first. I adore her lollipop face. I wish she had a regular smile face on this one too. She would be my first Mui Chan, if I do end up being able to get her. I was surprised at how much she costs. Oh, well. The bathtime one was so cute too. That one is gone. I am also interested in the vinyl Dal dolls recently. So I hope to get them too. I just got money from letting a doll go, so now I get to choose to get something else. It is fun when you have the money and you can dolly dream.... Oh, I wanted to add and ask. Can you move the dolls eyes around or are the eyes already placed? Thanks.
As far as I know, they are like the other BJDs and you can change they eyes out. Not sure they'd be allowed if you couldn't, actually.. She is adorable, and one day I hope to own one.. LM
Oh, so you do not have one yet Loki's Mom? I don't either. I was hoping someone here got there Version 6 already now. Are they released yet? Does anyone know how much shipping from IX doll to the USA is? IX doll has not replied to my questions yet. It has been a day now.
My Mui V6 is New York—just three hours away! That’s our customs office! Hopefully she won’t be hung up there too long! I am so excited! I saw the new packaging and I love it!
Yes eyes can be switched out---they come with a magnet mechanism to hold them in instead of putty- but I take the mechanism out and use putty anyway. It holds better.
Oh- the shipping to USA is very reasonable when you consider the distance and how qucik it gets here. I forget how much exactly on the Bathing Duck but I remember I wasn't shocked by it at all and it was all worthit!
Hi all!^^ I've just discovered these dolls today via Flickr and already adore little Mui-Chan and her friends...I didn't even think to look on DoA as I presumed they would be off-topic, but found this thread via a Google search!! I'm really happy they are allowed here I'm going to spend tomorrow reading through this thread I think...!^^
Twiddle66, what version is your Mui chan? Love the eye positioning in your signature! She's super cute
Hi Mitya, I believe the version you are referring to is the "Back to School" version. Yes, that photo is so cute. gelfling - I discovered Mui Chan back quite some time ago now. I didn't get one though. I am glad that they are allowed on here too. I went back and looked at some of it also. I didn't let all on this thread know yet, but I ordered my very first Mui Chan! I am expecting her arrival any time now. In fact, I just got a postal notice in my mail box today!!!! Can you believe it? I missed the delivery. I will have to wait until tomorrow to get her! She will be version 6. I am excited to see her in person. Yea!!!
Hi all!!! I got my Mui!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Here is one photo of her. (We can only post one at a time.) "Hi there."
Here is another. She is so cute and I really liked how they packaged her. Tied with a ribbon, sent in the mail even. lol Very cute. I will try to post more from this photosession at a later time.
Congratulations Dollightful - she is just perfect and I love this lollipop face of hers...she is so much fun! p.s. I can imagine your cat thinking 'if I stay really still and quiet, maybe she won't see me..' ^__^ (Gorgeous cat btw)
Thank you gelfling9uk. I didn't expect a response so soon. Right away! lol Glad you like. Yes, both dolls are cute. I have a Ragdoll. He is a beauty. Thanks.
I really like the whole 'package' deal with these dolls and think it's a wonderful idea to have her + clothing + face plates and a few accessories, you're all set to play and have the peace of mind that all these things will work for her. Do we know how often Ixtee come out with new dolls? I won't be able to get her this time around, but would like to be prepared for next time?
Yes and no!^^ It was fun looking at her pics, but not so fun that I cannot afford another doll for a long, long while - I have just purchased my all time wishlist doll Soom Euclase which I am ecstatic about and now completely broke
Well, that is rough to wait for dolls. It is something to look forward to and I am glad you got your wishlist doll. I think Mui version dolls may be released only once a year. You can get one later. I would think they will keep coming out with cute ones. They have improved on the body now, so that is good. Yes, I like all the cute extras. It is fun.
Well I love this hobby so I think I can wait a year - she would be worth it as I have never seen another doll like her! Thanks Dollightful
Wow... how the heck did I just read 23 pages? It felt like I was reading for maybe 5 minutes, but the clock tells me I've lost half an hour somewhere. I think I got lost in the cuteness! Anyway, hi! I'm Cherish. I don't have any BJDs, only Blythe, but Mui Chan is the one non-Blythe girl that keeps attracting my attention again and again, and I think she's going to be my first BJD. There's just something about her quirky, expressive little face that really speaks to me (and what it usually says is "HI THERE! I FOUND THE SUGAR!!") Anyway, I just wanted to thank all you guys that post in this thread, and please do continue to post. I'm loving the pictures, and finding the discussions very informative. Your Muis are stunning!
Lol! I tend to think things like that of the Puki Pong.. XD I totally understand what you mean though, she has the most adorable and fun faces. LM
Gotta a question for you guys: has anyone tried dying their Muichans? I got my basic (bought secondhand) Mui today.
That's exciting! I haven't. I hear that resin can stain from dark colored fabrics or wigs being left on, But I haven't seen any Mui-chans with staining on them. A Dye would be a controlled stain so It may not work on Mui-chan. When you say you got a basic Mui-- did you get the number 1 that was made from a much paler resin? What color are you hoping to dye her? Please keep us posted on the results if you do! Congratulations on adopting Mui-chan! She is so much fun!
Hi, today I tried my best to faceup my Mui-chan myself. So much fun but I have to do it better next time. I know they are not perfect. This is the first time I makeup for bjd. Different feelings for mui-chan. Mui-Chan : I forgot my password... T^T Thx for watching.... ^^
Very Fun Sugar!! I've actually been facing up My Mui-chan--Not to change her but I wanted her to have rosier cheeks and lips that were a different shade. I ended up giving her an overall fine pink blush that is not really noticeable but gives her a healthier complexion and then did rose up the cheeks a good bit because she wears so many bright colored things and many times on BJD with pale painting the face looks faded when they wear something bright. You did great work for your first time doing face-ups! My first attempts at face painting certainly didn't look that good! LOL
I got my Fat Chai version 2 today! IXTEE made several improvements over version 1--they brought back the key fit around the magnet that holds the faceplate in place--like on older Mui-chans! What's so great about that? Well, it makes putting wigs on him without the faceplate slipping off a cinch! Love that! Please IXTEE bring back the key fit to Mui-chans faceplates so her faceplates do not slip off easily when wigging, ect. They also gave a Fat-Chai a swivel waist joint! VERY COOL! I'd love to see this on Mui-chan too! His eyes also fit better in the sockets without the major gapping of version 1----Just adorable little guy and I am so happy with him!
I attempted and the dye didn't take well at all so I am going with the paint route. Her resin seems very yellow, but there is a colour difference between the head and body. Has anyone done hybrids or mods to their doll's body for posibility?
I'm a bit late to this discussion but here are some photos of my Mui Chan Version I: Mui Chan Version I by crazy4blythe[/img], on Flickr Mui Chan Version I by crazy4blythe[/img], on Flickr Mui Chan Version I by crazy4blythe[/img], on Flickr
Chibi - I have modified the knee and elbow joints on some of my older Mui-chans. The new ones have bodies that hold a pose very nicely- but the older ones have issue with "kicking back". I modified this by taking a flesh colored two part epoxy putty into the joint and then "refitting the lower arm or leg ball into it. Then remove and allow to harden and then use sand paper and dremel to clean it up so that only the original resin surface shows outside th joint. Basicaly it makes the joint fit snug-- and poorly fitting sockets were the reason for the kickiness so it cures that wonderfully and isn't noticeable at all. I also made the wrist socket more shallow so that the little wrist ball sits up higher and you can pivot pose the hands better. Finally before restringing I lined the head socket with some flesh colored knit fabric and glued it in place in the head peice with PVC glue. This makes the head pivot smoothly without that "clicking" and it makes the head stay wherever I tilt it and not "click back" like before. As for the color of the resin it is very yellow---but many asian BJD come in yellow so I am guessing it is very normal and appreciated by asian cultures. Mui-chan version one was an altogether different resin which was a very pretty pail color and somewhat more translucent. Its a very pretty color and I do not know why the changed it up for the more yellow color unless the yellow color is more typical for asian dolls or maybe real asian children that play outdoors alot? I think Mui-chan is modeled after a little outdoorsy tom-boy- and not really a prissy girl who hides from the sun and tries to look like a Geisha. I've grown to love her yellowness- and since most resin dolls eventually turn yellow unless kept in the dark, it is something BJD collectors do not seem to concerned about. Sorry the dye didn't work out----what color were you hoping to acheive? I've had alot of luck with just doing body blushing techniques with pale pink and rosy pink pastels (blue tone pinks to counteract the yellow tones- not orangey toned pinks which would just make her more yellow looking) I use MSC and then do the blushing and then do two coats of MSC. I play like crazy with my Chans and have had no issues with the msc or blushing coming off, scartching, or chipping and the MSC has uv blockers in it and is a true beautiful Matte finish.. I'll have to take some before and after pics of a faces to show you how the toning can work with what is there rather than try to cover it up altogether with paint-- which might chip off easily after a while during play.
tiffany- I was late to this thread too! LOL Welcome--its nice to have some activity in here-- It doesn't get as much as some of the other tiny BJD threads! Your verison 1 Mui sure is pretty! Hey- IXTEE told me the other day that Mui-chan version 7 is in the works and plans are to release her before the end of 2012!
Twiddle66 - Thank you for the warm welcome! Wow, version 7 already? I didn't know there were that many versions, but I am glad there are! I'm looking forward to it.
She has been with me for quite some time already, but this is the first time I am introducing her to everyone here.
She's as Cute as a shiny red apple! I love her little outfit and that wig looks GREAT on her! Thanks for the eye candy!
Thanks Twiddle66. I was surprised how good Mui-chan look as a blonde too, her original black pigtail wig kept jumping off her head, and this wig is an extra, so I pop it on her head for fun, and oh~ she looks good~ but she doesn't like me dressing her up in all the girly stuff.
Oh~ I just received a newsletter from Ixdoll, preorder of Mui-Chan and Fai Chai starting today. But not new expressions. http://www.ixdoll.com/product_detail.php?id=239
I got my own little Mui-Chan home lately. Oh I am very happy, she is one of the dream dolls I thought I never would be having, but now she is home! She reminded me about the character in Moomins "Little My" and so her name is Myy. She seems to have some mischief in her mind even while having her happy face...
Hello, Myy!! You're looking cute as a button! Quiet warning to all Mui Chan moms: do NOT leave credit cards lying around when there is a Mui in the house. Carly just did all her Christmas shopping in front of the computer
I adopted a Big Wolf Mui Chan..she arrived today and I adore her!I especially love her grinning faceplate Here is Mika
Oh She is So Cute the way you have her made up! She looks REALLY happy to be with you and this is one of the best face plates! Its so versatile! Can't wait to see MORE pics! Keep em coming!
Thank you so much,I am loving this little doll, she is such fun Today Mika is a little grumpy..I gave her peas for lunch and she does not approve..
Poor Child! How could you be so mean! PEAS! Even Grumpy Bear does not approve! Now get that kid a Chocolate Sundae IMMEDIATELY!! LOL!! These pics are great! I love the set ups and the color choices! So bright and cuddly in the middle of a very cold winter day here in Pennsylvania! THANKS!
I do love my little dolly diorama..even on such a cold winter day it is nice and cosy And no need to worry..I gave in and let Mika have cake for lunch and now she is happy again (Although Grumpy Bear is still grumpy)
I guess thats because she didn't share any with him!! LOL Now you've got me wanting to take some pics of my little girl so she can say high to your little one! It's always nice to make new friends! I have a busy day tomorrow, but hopefully will be able to take some pics Sunday!! Til then I am thoroughly enjoying yours! THANK YOU!
Looking forward to seeing your Mui Chan pics Has anyone else ordered the Mui Chan cafe version that Ixtee have up for pre-order at the moment? I wasn't going to..but after repeated visits to the Ixtee site..well,temptation just got the better of me (whoops!) so it looks like Mika will have a Mui sister to keep her company very soon
I order it! The tounge face plate is Too cute- But even MORE tempting was a brand new hand position. This is the STOP or HALT hand (which they use to hold a tray in V7) This hand was seen in Prototype Pics, but has never yet been released so its an exciting hand to have. You can do some fun things with it besides the holding up of the tray. I am not too excited about the outfit. I don't get the whole French Maid look on little kids - or the whole waitress thing. But I am very excited about that hand and the new face! I'm glad you ordered it! You take such great pics I just know you'll do something really fun with that hand! Did you get the last version with the Lolly Pop face? Thats a SUPER cute face! I bought an extra set for my neice because she wanted a Mui-chan but then she got a boy friend and lost interest before it was even shipped from IXTEE. So I have just had it in the closet and have been saving it as an extra in case I lose a foot or something, But if you are interested in that version I might be willing to part with it.
I do like Mui Cafe's stop hand..and I think Mika is expecting her new sister to serve her lots of cake so she will have a chance to wear her waitress uniform for maybe a few pics I adore the lollipop face!Mui Chan is such a fun doll I am hoping Ixtee may be shipping out in a few weeks?Which will be nice..I ordered some toy story balloons for my Mui girls as well, they are very cute little props..
Mika is really cute! My cafe mui shipped two days ago! My grail is grumpy mui Chan though. If I got that faceplate second hand from a previous version, would it fit my girl? Thanks!
Hi Ohlala! My Mui-chan V7 has shipped too! I am very excited! Unfortunately the older version Grumpy face plates will not fit your girl. The connection is completely different now. They did re-release the grumpy face last year with the new double magnet connection. It was for a special version called We R Twins- a double set with Mui-chan and her brother Fat Chai in school costumes. Alot of people compalined and said they would not buy because there was nothing new-- that wasn't really true. It marked the only release of the Grumpy face with the new head attachment- PLUS it was the first time they released the Victory hand in Mui-chans normal skin tone. Previously the victory hand was only available in the pale skin color of version 1 Mu-chan- so for a real collector We R Twins was a great set to have. If you get a chance at it on the secondary market- buy THAT set and you will have the grumpy face that will fit your Mui-chan. That said, IXtee , now that they have reformated the grumpy face for the new head connection, will PROBABLY be releasing it in a version in the future. They would have spent alot of money making molds and changing that connection for the new head backs--why would they only release it once in a 50 pc limitred edition. I am sure financially they will want to release that again to make up for some of the development invested. So just watch those future versions! They average a release or two a year so it could happen ebfore 2014! Now we just have to wait for our current dolls to get to us!! Its Chinese New Year and I am just hoping our dolls made it out of Hong Kong before Chinese New year began beacuse the postal system shuts down there during those days! LOL So far my tracking number still shows her recieved by Hong Kong Post but no movement since 2/6/13. I think my girl may be spending the new year celebrations in Hong Kongs customs offices!
Thank you so much for such an informative answer, Twiddle66! I really appreciate it! Sounds like both of our girls were shipped the same day. Mine doesn't seem to have moved till the 6th either I will keep an eye on their next releases, I really want the grumpy faceplate. It's the cutest thing ever!
