Island Dolls Mini Discussion part 1

Good luck with your modding. I can understand why that would be an issue, though I think the big eyes was part of what drew me to the Lilith sculpt. I can't wait to see how your girl turns out Kerantli.

I loved her big eye in the company photos, but when it came to them in person, I knew they would end up making me really annoyed. I did the proper version earlier on, it's not the exact same as the practice, but she will still take 10mm eyes, maybe 12mm to stop gapping, or find white eye putty. Also with her body, it's more mature than most of my other MSDs (having the large bust, not the small bust like Katie), so the 18mm made her look really young when her body makes her look older.

 

Faye just came back from her face-up. It fits her so well.

 

I went on another modding spree... did you know the resin around their chest joint is really thin? So much so, I cracked Katie's by accident..

Also, your Faye looks lovely Moonhawke

 

Oh dear. That's awful! I hadn't noticed, but I'll keep that in mind if i decide to start modding.

Also can anyone please tell me is 'island' colour pinkish or yellowish? Does it change colour much over time? Thanks

 

Elve, my Katie is in Island skin (picture just above your post is her chest piece) and is roughly 41cm, so I think that Hejin might just scrape into the midi size (thinking about it logically, minifee around 39/40cm tall and are classed as MSD).

As for if the island skin is more pinkish or yellowish, I can't quite tell as I think most of my "normal" skin tones look the same to me. I can probably put her against my doll zone Helen and ImplDoll YunYan if you want? (as I know you'll have some sort of clue of what their normal skin tone will look like)

 

thanks for that info Kerantli I've just had a look back through your photos on this thread and next to your white girl, Katie does look more pink than yellow, which is just what I'm wanting - thanks! Good to know HeJin is a midi, because so far I've posted in the other 2 Island Doll threads and no joy! I didn't realise they classed such a small doll as 'midi' - I'm thinking she will be quite easy to dress though as her hips and waist are SD size and her top is midi sized - so she just needs a cropped top I guess, over a 1/3 size skirt or shorts? She is so cute and different - although I don't collect normal midis, I love her!

 

Yeah, the Island threads aren't all that active, as you can see recently it's just been me and moonhawke with the occasional Guls in this one...
It does look like Hejin will fit into SD skirts/shorts around the waist/hips as they're bigger than the 17.5cm hips than what the other girls have. I'd say normal MSD tops should fit the top half though, but don't hold me to that as I can't check Katie's any more due to the modding I've done, and Jess (Lilith) is a large bust anyway

 

well I confess I haven't even looked at Island dolls for years - I had put them in my 'not interested' category as none of their work grabbed me - I only stumbled across their new range of sculpts on Alices Collections, and was very impressed! Really want the new tiny cat too They seem to have got a new sculptor or a new designer or something now as they are making some very interesting and unusual sculpts - and their clothing is really lovely too if it's as good as it looks - I'd love HeJin's default outfit, but really can't afford it (not when I NEED 3 of those tiny cats!)

ETA - well I took the plunge and ordered her! I've just sold all my midis as 'I don't collect midis' LOL - but she is very different and going to be a real challenge to dress! Strangely Alices Collection is the ONLY dealer who lists her http://www.acbjd.com/hejin-p-7290.html?cPath=415_429

 

I iope this is the right place to ask this. There is this awesome new Shukaku. I found him on the official site but DDE and MoC don't have him. There is a seller on eBay. DollOnline2009. They have good feedback and a good layaway. They have the new Shukaku as well. They have a number of great dolls. Does anyone know if they are authorized? The last time I tried contacting AOD and IslandDoll about another seller (no feedback, insane low prices) I was sure they were unauthorized I got no answer but when I got back from Egypt their auctions were cancel led and I did not have to pay for the two I won. They do look pretty legit but i can be pretty naive (thank you ECUSA for that)

I'm not sure about the ebay seller, but FF&D may be able to order the doll for you. I ordered a blue 1/6 body through Iris, she doesn't have that listed on the site but she was able to order it from them. She's also very flexible with layaways too.

 

I need to stop falling off the face of the planet (I have a silly reason for that too.. I've been playing sims 4). But in honor of having Katie for a year, she is finally starting to come together!



Just need to sort clothing out and I'll finally be happy with her [emoji3]

 

Is it me, or does the ID Amy look more like a teen / adult and IH Amy more like a child?

 

I've not seen an IP amy apart from on the site so can't comment, but I think my ID Amy looks almost child like over teen like, but that may be from the bust reduction I gave her. Now my ID Lilith is more adult like than my ID Amy, as I modded her (Lilith) eyes so they are smaller than the 18mm size they should be (which didn't match her large bust)

Annnnnd mine arrived today too! Just over a month after ordering - and she was stuck in UK customs for over a week too - but super-fast from China! She is really fun to dress and very cute I think - really different - my little dumpling She's wearing 1/3 size shorts from Alices, and a very useful YOSD size dress from poinsettia04 on etsy - it's way too small and doesn't fasten in back properly, but the halter neck means it fits most of my smaller dolls. She was in fact too big for the midi tops I have! I don't collect midis though so only 2 to choose from - I think she'd fit a midi boy's teeshirt fine - something with stretch, although it would need to be cropped as she widens out to SD size very quickly. Dollzone midi boots - they are quite big though anyway. This is a pic of her next to my dollzone midi Jake - he is dwarfed by her - she's a bonny lass! I've called her Hayley

So I just fell hard for the Island doll 40cm Wind (edit: just noticed she has a name *fail*, hejin!). I must have her. Already emailed MOC about ordering one...
I have a question about their resin...is it all environmental?? I don't really care for Wind either way, but I also really like one of their bodies for a head I have, but if it's environmental it won't match.

Ruthwen thank you She is in 'Island' skin - I really like the colour now I see it in real life - The resin quality is beautiful too - lovely and smooth

VampireAngel13 glad to see another HeJin fan - that body is such a cute shape I think! As far as I know it's environmental resin, but it's not what I was expecting - it's very matte and solid and really lovely in fact - she's my first Island Doll and I'm impressed with the resin quality.

I think she's fabulous!! I had seen a pic of her with your Jake in the DZ thread, but didn't realize what I was looking at...I saw a link to her in another thread and I just have to have her! When I came here and saw the same pic from the DZ thread I finally put two and two together XDD

I emailed MOC and asked them about Island Doll's resin -- apparently for the Wind line you can get regular urethane resin. So yay! I'd like to get her in the sunburned resin just for something different (it's the boy body I need in urethane anyway). I need the other body in WS though to match my head. In a few weeks or so I'll just do one order (yay layaway!!) from MOC and get them both at once. She's just so cute! I hope to see more of her

thanks VampireAngel13 - I will have to get my lazy camera-ass in gear and take some photos, although who knows when the poor girl will get a faceup - not my strong point! And yes she was the first doll I've seen in a very long time that was instantly MUST HAVE!!! I think I sold about 3 of my other dolls just to buy her

Hello there. I wanted to pop in here and ask y'all a question. I'm trying to figure out if a hybrid would work. So I was wondering if any of y'all with the 45 cm girl body also owned a female Doll-Zone MSD that you wouldn't mind popping on the Island doll body? I don't care if the DZ head and the ID body are different skin tones I just want to see how the head looks on the body. Please and thank you.

Hi all!
I got my IslandDolls Lilith last month but the poor thing is still in need of clothing! I'm such a bjd newbie, I'm having trouble sorting out the abbreviations of the different kinds of MSD clothes. (And yes, I have her measurements, but sellers don't often provide the measurements of their clothes!)

 

I am still waiting for her wig to arrive, but today I made a quick jersey wrap dress for my Lilith. I think she looks rather chic, even bald :3

 

If she is a large bust (45cm tall like my lilith), then she'll need "normal sized" MSD clothing - so the ones available for 42-45cm tall BJDs. No point looking at Minifee/slim mini trousers/jeans, as they won't fit around the hips, and be to short on the leg. Some slim mini tops will work if they're stretchy as the large bust is rather large. If she's a small bust, then slim mini clothing will fit, but may still look slightly baggy (some some reason I have no idea about.)

Okay, so I have tried a wig size 6-7 on Lilith and I couldn't get it on her head, so I sized up to a 7-8 and that one is too big! She's the Cinderella of doll wigs! If anyone has successfully wigged Lilith, please let me know what size and where you bought it from, I'm begging!

 

Try a 7inch wig on her. Minifee and Volks SDC wigs are about 7inches. I use 7inch wigs on my Lilith and I've never had a problem.

 

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had a recent pink skin doll they could show me? I want to see the color.

meanwhile I've still done nothing with Hayley (Hejin) except change her eyes - these are too big but I the only brown eyes I had going spare. Still a challenge to dress her with those gigantic hips! 1/3 leggings from Alices fit her perfectly, but I'd only recommend white as the black ones I tried on her (washed twice already) stained her after just 20 minutes! Bottoms are no problem but her top half is problematic as it's too small for 1/3 clothes and too big for 1/4 size. So she's wearing a 1/3 dress from Alices as a nightie in this photo, which looks cute I think ^_^

I have a problem, I want to buy Wallace on Alice Collection but the color skin choice are too limited, they propose only in normal or white. Do you have buy your doll in other color on Alice collection? I prefer this site for the free shipping fee.

 

Chibi_Lapinou I have just checked Island's website and they offer Wallace in many colours including blue! I think if you contact Alices Collection they will order whichever colour you like - Alices are very helpful company. Alternatively Angelesque in the UK may be better if you are in France as there will be no customs fees to pay ^_^

The pink is great for Hayley, she's cute and the size of her eyes is more better, but it's my opinion.

I got it from mybayer2008 on ebay. She(?) has a store on there called Pink Fantasy, it's nothing but bjd related items. I order from them a lot and I've never had an issue with them.

If you want to put it on an Amy, I had to take mine in at the sides to get it snug. It's a little big for them in the waist.

 

My Lilith arrived! I love her skintone, and the fact that they sent me green eyes is just the icing on the cake.

But I am so glad to find some Hejin lovers here! I've been admiring the sculpt for months in hopes that Islanddoll might do a sale/event to drop the price just a little but so far none. I'm so tempted to just order him/put him (I plan on making Hejin a male so forgive me if the male pronouns confusing; on layaway now. I am so eager to shell him into my character, the adorably chubby body is perfect for my oc /w\
