@LaughingFox12 I love the dark tan as well! I am very excited about seeing it in person. I look forward to seeing your island skin as well! I think it’s a very nice tan!
Does anyone happen to know what happened to the Island Doll website? When I went to check them out it looked like everything was down and I was getting a weird MySQL error; is anyone else having this issue? (I was having this pop up both on my phone and on computer.)
Crossposting from the Granado thread. I just found a surprising near match, about 85, 90 percent I think. You see, I sent a Islanddoll dark tan head cap to Granado about two months ago. It finally arrived and it turns out it is pretty close to Granado chocolate, and would be way cheaper to boot. Here's what Granado said: "Hello, We have got your head cap. Here is the picture we put our chocolate skin resin and yours together. As you can see, our chocolate skin resin is darker, and less red tone." I know dark tans are a pain to hybrid, so hopefully this helps someone. I think I'll go with the cheaper one. That gives me more money for dolls. Shame I had to wait so long and pay for postage to found that out, but what can you do?
hello i was wondering what are the size of the island doll jointed hands like the actual size of the hands themselves? thank you ^^
Can anyone show me a Island doll first 62 cm boy body? ( Doll Parts, Island Doll - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections ) I have a Ringdoll Red King head. It's a very little SD head and his caracter a androgynous man. He needs shapely legs and ankle etc., but there are not many pictures of the Island body on the net. I would like to see his knees and ankle. The body measurements are true? The body is posing well? I would like to see pictures of this body from owners and I'm interested in all information and experience.
So I was collecting purchasing info about my dolls for potential insurance stuff, and when I looked at the Sparkle head on the Island Doll website I realized that their sales photo, unlike the ones for every other head, was in dark tan! I don't know if that picture is of mine, or if they had leftover dark tan, but I found it pretty amusing.
Hi, joining in with my new character Noah. We are working on their identity now. I've wanted one for years so this is a dream come true. Island doll Noah by SteamWitch, on Flickr
Thank you! He went outdoors today with Rog on the swing. He still doesn't have a name, he kicked out the one I came up with. Off for another round of internet Name that boy. Boys by SteamWitch, on Flickr
Does anyone have a Norse Myth 73cm boy body? I''m looking into hybridizing the Wind Doll line's "Yun Xin" head (which does not use the usual Wind Doll bodies), and I'm not sure how precise that neck measurement is. I've heard that 1.0cm difference between head and neck doesn't matter too much, but the Impldoll Idol's neck is 12.5cm, and Yun Xin's neck hole is potentially smaller than that. I'm concerned that the combination might sit oddly without sanding. Also, is anyone familiar with both Island Doll and Impldoll's White Skin? Although, one or both companies might be using environmental resin now, which is probably a bigger problem for matching.
Hi all, I bought Island doll 70 cm body in milk white resin second hand, hybrid with Dream of Doll head. I used other body for my DoD since and this body stayed in the box with no head. Do you know other company head that can match Island doll 70 cm male white milk resin? Thanks in advance.
I just ordered my first "big" doll last month - Jonas on the 65cm body. Does anyone have any suggestions about what fits (clothes or patterns - I can sew but I need a place to start.) Thanks!
So nice to see your Vivian! She's a lovely sculpt and yours looks great! Here's my Vivian with face-up by Jay's Petite Salon (Jay Searle). I love her little teeth (mine don't show in this particular photo due to the angle).
Oh! Your Vivian looks so sweet! I didn't recognize her! Her wig seems to be very soft. It looks really nice on her. Cute girl! It's nice to see other Vivian dolls, cause I had problems to find more photos of this sculpt.
@ToriaCrux I've found owner photos on Flickr, by searching 'Island doll Dove' which is a sculpt that uses this body in either variation, as well as Island doll Noah.
So I've gone trawling around on Island Doll's TaoBao and I'm in love with the following sculpts: Dove: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=17296487222&spm=a1z10.3-c-s.w4002-21609259084.47.8b291193t5kPm8 Noah: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=16015985976&spm=a1z10.3-c-s.w4002-21609259084.35.8b291193t5kPm8 Hu Li: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id...a.7700824.w4002-21609259084.25.59c21193y0rHb5 I'm also interested in Jonas and Cheetah, but this is several dolls deep and I think I'll limit myself to two during the (hopeful) summer sale period. I absolutely love Island Doll's resin color range - I'm hoping to order Hu Li in their darkest resin, as shown on this chart: I think he'll make a lovely drow elf.
hi guys, i know this isn't a very active thread but I'm hoping there's someone still around with an Odin? either on the Norse 73 body or a hybrid. Does anyone have the Norse 73 body though? Is it really just single jointed? it sort of looked both ways on the pics on Alice's Collection. I'm planning to get the head eventually and it's always easier to forgo the whole hybrid situation but I'm not sure about single jointed elbows at this point
It's really hard to tell. One photo I found from the user showed as if the joints were double, but it's best to ask acbjd. They are super nice and reply quickly.
I finally got my marbles together and emailed Christina about Dove and Noah (very pleased). If anyone's got photos of their Island Doll folks in 'island resin' I'd love to see pics! I went with it for Noah, but I still have a small window to make adjustments before the 15th. Edit: I went with Island for Noah and 'sunburned' for Dove.
Both Noah and Dove have arrived, however it's been something of an ongoing mess unfortunately. Noah arrived with chips around one of his ankles (where the foot seats into the bottom of the shin piece), and Christina was able to get Island Doll to cast a replacement. They sent two shin pieces when they mailed out Dove, but Dove was fully strung and suffered similar breaks during shipping. I asked Christina about seeing if Island Doll could replace those parts as well, and didn't hear anything for a while. When I checked in again, it didn't seem possible, but Christina chased them a bit and now, seemingly, they are going to cast replacement shins. Dove also arrived in tan resin, although I'd ordered 'sunburned', so I do not know what sunburned resin looks like in person from Island Doll. Both dolls are adorable, I love their face sculpts, although their bodies are slightly 'clunkier' than anticipated, however this isn't a problem for me. I like the resin colors they're in and the additional 'fist shape' hands and 'heel feet' are nice as well. On their default feet, there is a separation between their first/biggest toe and remaining toes, so they can wear flip flops and other sandals. Happy to upload some pics!
