I can't think of a short, consice way to explain what I'm asking for in the title... sorry! A company I'd like to buy from is dealing with a backlog after a bunch of their people were off sick. They also have some things in stock, including a grail doll, but they're only limited. I can only get them on layaway, which needs to be done through email. I actually already tried to set up a layaway for something else and haven't heard back (you do some fenangling with paypal, send them a code, wait to hear back from them.) Is there a thing, or is there a word for like... somebody buys the doll on your behalf, then you pay THEM a layaway? If that IS a thing, are there any groups for it? (Clarifiying that I'm not trying to do that through this post, I don't know what goes on in the Marketplace so I apologize if this would be something for that part of the forum)
I feel like that would be able to be done on the marketplace with like group orders or hosted orders... sometimes there are people who buy in their country and ship to you. There's a good few options. I'm sure someone else will have more ideas and answers!
This only ever happens with group/split orders, but mostly when a layaway is available for the host. Most of the time, if the group/split host pays in full, the rest of the members have to pay their part in full too. My best suggestion would be to email the company to ask about the layaway again, if you are set on the doll. From your post, it appears that there are staffing and communication issues at the company at the moment. I personally feel that it would be unfair to involve anyone else in your doll order, due to that. If they cannot respond to a simple layaway enquiry, what would the person ordering for you do if there were any further issues with communication, quality or damages? It's something worth considering. There are also a lot of flaky buyers nowadays, so it is unlikely that someone would be willing to act as a lender for people they do not know. Some other options apart from setting up the layaway with the company could be using services such as the Paypal Pay in 3, or a credit card even.
True, true, thank you! I really appreciate the input! I had COMPLETELY forgotten about Paypal's Pay in 3 thing, thank you! Thank you! I'm only a baby on the website so I won't be talking there for a while, but I'm happy to know that it's a thing and I'm not crazy!
I think I may know which company you are talking about, but I'm not exactly sure. I could be wrong. I know a specific dealer/distributor that does a system like this in North America. If it is that company you are referring to you shouldn't send too many emails on the same topic or it will get sent to the bottom of their system or something like that. It's mainly just waiting for the email to come. I am not sure if I understood correctly, so if I did misunderstand ignore my advice. If it is the company I think it is they can order for you if they agree and you pay them the layaway. You can ask and see if they agree. If they can't do it for some reason they would let you know. If you find out early on they can't order for you then you can use the remaining time before the deadline to look for other alternative sites or people that can order for you. Sorry I don't think I was helpful. Edit: I had a few orders (or maybe it was one order I can't recall) not ordered on time due to it being a time sensitive order and miscommunication, so make sure to plan ahead and order the doll with enough time to communicate with this company. I didn't know it wasn't ordered because at the time the back and forth emailing made me misunderstand I was suppose to send them a reminder email of the deadline. Anyway to avoid disappointment it's best to leave enough time to communicate through email especially if you know they might take some time to email. The orders that weren't ordered on time were specific orders i placed that weren't available on their site, so I needed time to communicate due to not placing it on their site. From what i recall I think I placed my order early, but had an uneasy feeling that I might have misunderstood something because I wasn't hearing back on payment. My mistake was not knowing to send a reminder email to order the item before the deadline. I can't recall i think I must have misunderstood the email. If you are like me and have trouble sometimes comprehending what you read or have trouble communicating then it's probably best to do things as early as possible. I don't think I was helpful. At this point I'm starting to get confused what I'm trying to say. Sorry if this wasn't helpful. If it's not the same company I think it is just ignore my advice. I don't think it might be the same one now.
BJDivas is the company. The backlog is just an unfortunate side effect of their staff being sick it seems like, they must have a lot to catch up on. I've messaged about a layaway, for both the in-stock items I want and the limited-time doll. I doubt it'll take more than a month to hear from them so even if the items are gone, I'll be happy just to get a response about the doll, hah! No, thank you by the way, this is helpful!
I hope they feel well. Long wait times on emails always makes me feel anxious. I hope you get your dolls. Edit: From what I recall like what another commenter said I think I waited about 2 weeks for an email. Sometimes i get an email on the same day I emailed I think it just really depends on how busy they are. I think I heard they have a very small staff.
hi I also am doing some layaways through BJDivas and for the time limited doll, don't worry. As long as you have already submitted the request for the layaway before the ending time you will get your doll I sent a request to set up a layaway literally a day before the ending time of a limited doll and didn't hear back for a little over a week, but everything is all good! I'm not sure about the unstuck doll however, I'm guessing they'll go through the orders in line and when it gets to yours they might be able to set up a layaway depending if people in front of the queue bought it out first or not? But tldr; don't worry at all about your time limited doll I'm not too sure how accurate the reply time is but I heard back and had my layaway set up within 2 weeks! I know how anxious it is waiting for the dealers to reply, but I wouldn't worry
oops forgot to add, I suggest not to make any follow up emails regarding not hearing back as it backlogs stuff more and pushes your message to the end of the queue. I'd only maybe checking in if they don't get back to you within 3 weeks!
