Iplehouse PID Discussion V. 01

Apr 15, 2013

    1. ^ You can just go in and edit your post. :)

    2. I did, but it doesn't change the quotes though.

    3. I was able to change the quote on mine. I edited my answer, too. Don't worry about the quotes if it won't let you change them. At least you edited your original post. ;)

    4. Thanks LDD, I also changed your quote on my post. I certainly won't make that mistake again!!

    5. Thank you! Me neither!

    6. Tried my PID head on a PukiFee body yesterday and it looked really cute, putting the PF head on the PID body wasn't too bad either. I may make it a permanent switch when my other PF arrives.

    7. Oh, that sounds too cute, Xanadu! Please share photos if you end up making it a permanent switch!

    8. I will surely do that. :)

Half my problem with not bonding with her, was the fact her head wouldn't stay where I put it (probably because it's quite heavy for the body) and it used to exasperate me. Has anyone else had a problem with this? It's been like that since new and I've tried using silicone kips, but that didn't help in the slightest!

    9. Oh, that sound cute - I wanna see photos too!!!

    10. Hi! I don't know if it's right place to ask but do you know if pixxie dolls will be on sale again? they are all "out of stock" and I'm just wondering if iplehouse will be selling them in the future or not :-)

    11. Here she is, the resin is not as good a match as I would have liked (as the body is older than the my one that I tried it on) but when she's dressed the way I want her, it won't be noticeable.

If you'd like to see the opposite switch, go here.

    12. We don't know for sure. Iplehouse hasn't mentioned anything about future sales but then they usually don't until they're getting ready to open an order period. You could ask them directly and see if they answer on their Q&A. There were 2 big head releases followed by one small head release so it will be interesting to see which they might choose for another order period.

    13. Squee - that is a cute switch :D

    14. Thanks Ban. I think I will have to change her wig too, it makes her head look much bigger than it actually is.

    15. I think she looks cute! :)

    16. Just wondering if these dolls are discontinued or what? I've been watching the Iplehouse site, but they are always listed as sold out!

Also, what kind of clothes these dolls wear? Do they fit Lati Yellow clothes? Blythe clothes?

    17. Hmmm...I don't know--sorry! But, you could ask Iplehouse and see. I'm sure they will bring them back soon, though, as they seem to be very popular dolls.

My Twinky can wear Lati Yellow clothes--most of them anyway. She's a little taller than my Lati's, though. I have never tried my Blythe's clothes on her, but I do believe they would be too big all over.
      ;)

    18. Not sure what is going on with these as the last release had completely different heads to the first two releases...the only way to find the answer is to ask IH. I think if some LatiYellow clothes fit, you could also try PukiFee clothes or maybe Middie Blythe as she is only 20cm tall.

    19. Thanks for the help. I thought Lati Yellow stuff probably fit, but thought the dolls might be more slender than LY so I wasn't sure.

    20. hi the bottoms from bratz dolls and monster high dolls fit really well, especially the cropped denims operetta wears :-)

    21. Iplehouse Pixxie, Middie Blythe, Lati Yellow, and Puki Fee wear roughly the same size. Here's a comparison pic (not mine) for reference:

    22. thank you!
I'll try to ask iplehouse so :)

    23. Well after looking at the switch for a few days, I decided to switch it back and just keep the FL Bonnie as a boy. Twinky is back in her box!

    24. Breaking news!! Iplehouse is re-releasing the Pixxies!!

Wow, it looks like Iplehouse will be doing a re-release of ALL the Pixxies to date, including Ariel and Pylia (the small-head girls) and all four of our big-head favorites! It looks like the ordering period will be Oct. 20 - Nov. 9. Gotta jump in quick with these little ladies!

I don't think they've officially announced it yet because, at the time of posting this, I couldn't find anything on their website (not even a banner!), any announcements here on DOA, or any mention on BJD Collectasy either.

But srsly: WOOHOOOOO!! LOOK AT THESE LITTLE CUTIES!! I've linked to their product pages on Iplehouse's website.

    25. Loving the winter outfit. I wonder if it will be available separately. The dolls are up properly on the website now.

    26. Soooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!! Now I just need to decide who to get!! I already have Dorothy & Twinkie, but tempted to get a dark Dorothy, and Ryu-Ah.... or Ariel.... Damn you Iple! Right when I should be saving ;)

      I can't resist these cuties.

    27. I've already ordered a Volks doll and a Fairyland body this month, and I do not need to spend money. And yet, I am very tempted by Pylia. But on the other hand, I don't play with Blooming much because of the lack of posability.

Have any of you coaxed more posing ability out of your PIDs? Maybe then I can rationalize getting another one ;)

    28. That's what holding me back from getting more. I'm also having a hard time with clothing. I just want some regular jeans and things for her, not dresses from one end of the spectrum to another.

    29. Clothing isn't my issue, I just mod my PKF patterns but the posing ... yeah, that's what gets me. If Holly weren't so cute just standing there on my shelf I'd have long since sold her but I really like the look of her, even if she's doing nothing :(

    30. Agreed with the posing. I wonder if it's the fault of the big head. Does anyone have a small head PID who can weigh in on their posing ability?

    31. I don't think it's entirely the head, though I won't deny that does have some influence. They can bend their elbows and knees but that's it as far as mobility (I even have a tough time getting the 'double jointed peanut' to work correctly) ... their hands and feet only 'spin' though. I think my biggest problem is - I'm used to the range of FL dolls *shrug*
I love my girl - I like to dress her up but she won't be doing any photostories ;)

    32. I am so glad the are re-releasing them for a bit. I love them so much, the only dilemma I am having is choosing between Ryu-ah and Ariel. I was dead set on ryu-ah before this announcement, but ariel look so cute, now I am not so sure. :3

I ended up getting the Ryu-ah in grey skin since I have wanted her for ages. I think Ariel would have been more of an impulse buy, and I would have regretted it later?

I am a little worried about the issues with posing, I have similar problems with my nYID, iplehouse just doesn't seem to know how to make a proper double jointed elbow/knee. I am less worried about PID size though, since I imagine I could wire her pretty easily? I am also thinking magnets in the feet, especially if i get a second set of feet. But I guess I will wait til I get her to see how much is possible, since maybe her feet are too tiny.

    33. Well, I don't have an nYID, but my SID and BIDs are far more poseable than a PID. I do have a bit of trouble getting their peanuts to lock properly sometimes, but the PID has trouble doing even the simplest of poses. That said, I have not done any sueding or wiring on any of those dolls.

    34. Too bad the outfits aren't available separately. That black one Pylia's wearing would be perfect for my Dorothy ...

    35. You could always post a split and see if someone would be willing to go in on with you, I suppose! :)

    36. I could probably try wiring - I think that would work better than sueding ...

    37. Thanks :) I think I will try wiring her legs at the hip, and maybe at the neck. Those are her floppiest joints.

    38. Small head or no, Miranda ("Ariel") doesn't pose very well. She's beautiful, but she can't do much more than stand and look pretty. Or sit and look pretty. There's a huge difference between her and my JID in terms of posability. I think it's partly a weight issue (the larger dolls are better balanced or something), and partly due to the joints

    39. Well, at least she can stand. I could not get my big head Ryu-Ah to do that for any length of time...

    40. Ooh do you have a Flickr or some more photos? I'd love to see her :)

    41. I just put light brown skin Dorothy on layaway - really shouldn't at this point and time, but I know I'll regret it if I don't... I would of got Ryu-Ah too if I could afford it.... hopefully there will be a next time so I can!

    42. You are so bad! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

    43. Congrats, valee.anne! I'm really really tempted to get another Blooming or a Ryu-Ah in light brown skin myself.

Has anyone seen if any collectors have actually ordered either of those girls in a darker skin tone? I photoshopped them to see what they might look like, but there's really nothing like seeing the real thing. I don't think I've seen any dark-skinned Bloomings or Ryu-Ahs!

    44. I don't think they were available in the darker skin until now - I could be wrong though!

    45. Oh really? Was Dorothy the only one available in darker skin before?

    46. Sorry to but in on a conversation but yes, it was just Dorothy in tan on the first release. I hadn't spotted that we could have tan this time round. Mind you, I've not photographed my doll much so I don't think I can justify another as much as i love them. Clothing and getting them to stand is still an issue for me.

    47. teehee - and you're an enabler!

Do it! Then I can live vicariously through you - honestly, if I had unlimitted money, I would get Ryu-Ah too.... please iplehouse release them again next year! I know they're impossible to stand and pose, and clothes are hard to come by - but my gosh, I adore them.

    48. As for clothes, Luts Tiny Delf clothing fits pretty well around the chest and waist, though sleeve and leg length are an issue with original TDF stuff. As in, dresses turn into babydoll/empire waist style mini dresses, and pants become capris.

I plan to try Tiny 20 clothing for mine, once LUTS has more options. Fabric Friends and Dolls is a reliable dealer if you are in the US or if shipping from the US is cheaper for you.

Actually, if FFD ever gets a Tiny 20 body in stock, I may just hybridize my girl. I love the adorable PID body, but TDFs pose much better.

    49. Thanks for the clothing suggestions.

The possibility of tan and layaway is tempting but my favourite girl is Twinky and I already have her. It would be silly to get two the same wouldn't it? I wish there was more time to think about ordering. Can I see some Blooming And Ryu-ah spam to help me please? Thank you.

Has anyone managed to get their girl to stand or sit unaided and if so, how did you do it?!

    50. Mine can sit and stand unaided, but that's about all she can do. It takes a lot of fiddling with her hip joint and head position to get her to stand and stay balanced.

      Miranda~ by craftafox, on Flickr

Here's Miranda! Forgive the awkward lightning. Not the best photographer am I. I preferred Pylia's outfit, but Ariel's sculpt. I think it works really well.

    52. Here's some Blooming spam! I got her to stand by giving her little Blythe tennies, which are clunkily cute on her feet -- they give her more of a plane for balancing. And as for sitting, well... I just kept trying until she stayed. She's not the best poser of my bunch, but she's not impossible. I think I'm going to have to get a second Blooming this time, in tan skin! Her face just slays me.

    53. look their poseability isn't the best - but honestly, I wouldn't get rid of them. They can be challenging, but when you nail it, you just look at them and say awwwwww

      Case and point:

      kneeling
      [IMG]

standing alone: (I know it's too close up to see, but I promise you, she was standing on a table)

      I'm SUCH a pixxie fan! Next time I will get Ryu-Ah :)

    54. What a sweetie!

    55. Actually, Natalia (my Dorothy) seems to be able to stand better on her heel feet (with the shoes on) than her flat feet. She can stand all on her own, it just takes some fiddling around with her. Currently, she's lounging in a beach chair. I absolutely lover her to pieces, she's such a cutie! :D

    56. You got her to kneel! I'm impressed!

    57. I've actually managed (with a bit of patience) to get her into a few different positions

she is a bit of a minx ;)

    58. So so cute! Almost sorry I asked now I REALLY need her :)

valee.anne: you are the MASTER at posing, I should have gotten you to try with Lacey when you were here :)

    59. So excited to receive my girl. Was wondering what clothes/wigs you guys have tried and fit, for example can I put lati yellow clothes, or maybe blythe middie - her butt seems a bit big for middie clothes, but maybe some dresses fit?
