So it doesn't have red /pink undertones?

Ok, I feel better now.

 

In real life the new light brown does have a slightly pinker undertone than the old light brown of my other two dolls, which appear a little yellower beside it. However it's nowhere near "red". The current regular Real Skin is also pinker than the old French resin formula which had a distinctly 'yellow' tone to it. I personally really like the colour.

They usually do, but not on weekends. Also double check your junk mail folder, when checking if you've received one. I've had a couple go in there in the past

 

@MB Lilac loving your two girls! I have Paige in RS, she was an unplanned dolly. Angela is divine!!! They look like they'll be great friends. When you say 'new' LB, when did that start? Only because I have a Dec 2015 nYID and she is a cafe latte color/ completely different from your new girl.

I'm not exactly sure when, but it was last year sometime, that Iplehouse announced that their standard light brown had gotten continuously lighter over the years, and that they were going back to the original darker colour. I have two older light brown BIDs (2013) My new Angela is only a little darker, and has a tiny touch more red. Although to really compare, she should have her face up and sealer.

Oh no! I am just getting a Lena thursday or friday and I didn't plan on any more dolls for at least 6 month but I've just wanted a Milly like forever. Now I wish I'd ordered my Milly instead of Lena.

Also searching Flickr on Ahra without the hyphen pulls up Eilidh-UK's pictures plus a head with a custom face up. Using the hyphen takes most of them out. Hers is beautiful.

I wish they would offer every resin color when they do these discontinuation events. I mean if it's truly last call, can't they offer these dolls in the brown and light brown resins for one last time? I really want Ahra in lt brown or dark brown. That sculpt has so much potential to be my lt brown JID Benny's kid brother, but I need him to be in the light brown or dark brown resin. I don't think real skin is going to cut it. The features on the blank sculpt have always looked a bit more African American/biracial to me. Maybe I am the only one who sees it, but it really would be great if iplehouse could offer all the resin choices as we say farewell to the sculpts so we can actually get what we want. I understand the complications of it and they are clearly downsizing because they can't manage their current workload as is so adding more resin choice would probably make them lose their minds, but heck if Dollzone brought back all the sculpts they JUST discontinued a couple months ago for a month this summer because they switched their resin colors so people could have a chance to get them in the new colors, I feel like iplehouse could make it happen too. Methinks they are just over the JID and KID lines. Which is really sad. I don't have any of the KIDs yet. I have like 3 different versions of Milly I want and I want at least one version of Joy. Sigh...but I have too many other doll things going on right now and I would have to find a way to bring JID Boris home before I brought a KID home anyway. Although if they allowed the other resin colors...I would do everything I could to bring home my little Ahra boy.

@Eilidh in those pictures of Ahra, are any of those real skin? Or what resin colors are represented?

 

@Meggethann You could snag an Ah-ra head in light brown right now through the head sale. Just go to the option parts section of the website.

In Eilidh's post she mentioned at the bottom that her Ah-ra is Normal Skin with face up A.

 

Really? I didn't realize that was an available option to choose. Did it just become available? I swear I was just trying to look at it, but maybe I was only looking at full dolls. See then I run into a Hybrid problem. Would I be able to buy a lt brown body later do you think? I guess I need to go back and check out the website more thoroughly.

And clearly it is either wayyy past my bedtime or wayyyy too early because I completely missed that @Eilidh even wrote anything under her pictures. I thought she had multiple dolls posted too. But it must be the lighting. Clearly I should take a nap. Haha.

Methinks I need to find a way to get an Ahra head and a Boris boy home now. I suppose I'll have a tax return coming home at some point. I was planning on using that to help plug away at my fairyland layaways, but you know...discontinuations are emergencies I guess.

 

The head sale is only for the duration of this KID/JID discontinuation until Feb 28. The heads were just listed last night when they added the sale price to the discontinued sculpts.

 

Thanks. I found the section. I knew the time period of the sale. I think I just hadn't refreshed my page to update with the sale starting yet because the head posts weren't there yet. They are there now. Such decisions.

hi all, haven't been here in ages. but i ordered a paige finally during the christmas? event and am just waiting for her to be made/shipped. then i will finally be able to try @desertmountainbear 's technique of elfing ears.

new face ups are always exciting. its like you get a second box opening

when i first saw paige i new i had to have her as an elf. up til then i had planned on a joy-elf instead. then desertmountain bear poster her paige elf and it was exactly the way i had envisioned mine. just a different skin tone, so i was sure that paige was who i wanted. i just had to wait till i could afford her.

 

@auntbear great news! My Paige has been my favourite since I got her in July last year. She will be the perfect elf!

I think I talked myself out of getting a Milly. She is very very cute and she'd be perfect being a relation of my 1/4 DollZone Feilian but . . . my Feilian is half troll and the KID body is . . . actually the body itself is fine but the hands and feet, ancles and wrists are too slender for the caracter.

To be honest it IS mostly because I can't really afford a new doll at the moment. There's so many other things I need. Like a face-up and some clothes for Rosa-Lillie my Lena for instans . . . and perhaps some new clothes for myself. LOL

Paige stopping by to say "g'day mate". Yes she is from Australia. I got her in a trade. After taking a three year brake from the resins. And selling most off, Paige joins my collection. So. Where can I find shoes for this girl?

 

Welcome back @morelle - and welcome to your Aussie Paige. The pixie hairstyle is perfect for her.

KIDs wear the same shoes as BIDs. They can also wear shoes made for YoSD size dolls, although you might need socks if they're a little wide. I even got my Lisa into a pair of LeekeWorld D-size heels (LS-148_D). They didn't fit the doll I bought them for so Lisa grabbed them.

 

Thank you vermont. The yo shoes can be a bit wide for the KIDs. I'm actually looking for something that is a better fit for their narrow foot. A friend of mine says they wear 44mm shoes. I was on eBay researching.

 

The LeekeWorld size D is 45mm, although depending on the style they can be longer. Boots especially need more length to fit. They have a sale going on currently.

Paige wears Dollheart. When she came home from Australia we needed to go through the wardrobe. Paige found this Dollheart ensemble at the very bottom of the wardrobe, which had been forgotten about through the years. Of course the bottoms aren't a good fit for her. But the top and vest are.

 

She's just adorable but then I always had a soft spot for Aussies.

I'm not sure about the shoes. Most of the shoes I have for my LittleFees looks too big on my KID. Those that are a tight fit looks okay with soks.

I noticed on the IH site that Milli, Joy and Ah-ra are discounted. I've been out of touch lately. But what does this mean? Are they going to discontinue these three sculpts? I had planned to get Ah-ra at some point. Perhaps I should do it now?

Ok, skip that. I now see the notice that this discount ends February 28th. I think I need Ah-ra.

@Roterwolkenvogel - Wow, another fabulous character who looks perfectly normal and real! I expect her to step off the screen and start talking. Is this the same artist who aged your Dollits Miso? If so, her work is phenomenal. If not, how did you manage to find two artists with the same aesthetic?

And no @vermont chick, different artist! (I have that weird rule that every doll of mine needs to be painted by a different artist ) However the secret are Russian artists, they usually have that super realistic stuff down to a T!

I've noticed that Russian artists do a superb job of painting doll faces. I wonder what their secret is?

 

Honestly, it is prolly in the water. The Russian BJD community is one of my favourite for the sheer talent they all seem to possess!

 

It would be interesting to know if they all have art school degrees. Or again, maybe it is something in the water!

 

they do amazing handwork too-knitting and crocheting. either they are all really good, or the bar is set so high there that no one shows their work unless it is amazing!

 

Totally agree. I would love to take lessons in crochet from some of them. I've noticed they refer to their face-up artists as "masters". Can't argue with that!

 

I have been thinking that perhaps little girls learn how to knit there. They don't really do that here any more. I remember when I was a kid (back in the stoneage) most little girls could knit rather well at the age of 7 or 8. Not me though. I was very clumsy.

this was my thoughts too.. They are more 'traditional gender roles' over there and do they even teach "home ec." here anymore? I know not in my JrH. days they didn't in all schools. and my HiS. was 'food prep' which was more comersial cooking oriented. Pretty pathetic about our part of the world how we have lost what is really something basic and we call what they do so 'amazing' when it's almost normal over there... i tried to learn... i just sucked so hard at it it's scary lol
