Iplehouse Kid K.I.D. 35cm discussion part 5

May 25, 2016

    1. Lots of cute KIDs on this page! :XD:

My two KID girls are school chums and put on some knitwear for a school outing...

What a lovely picture! I'm in love with the knitted pieces. The girls' skin is just glowing against that blue, too. Thanks for sharing!

    3. @bluepita - Thanks! I didn't realize that the blue in the scarf would match so well with the hat and sweater set. It was kismet. :XD:

    4. luluna, your girls are adorable!
Here is Bree (my Lonnie) in a knitted hood/wrap that I made to go with the perla set. I love knits for fall, and was having trouble finding some of the things I had in my head that I would like for my dolls, so decided I would try and teach myself so I could try and make what I wanted.

    5. I'm loving all the knits for KIDs! <3 All I've managed so far is to crochet tams for my Realpukis. I think I'm ready to tackle a project for a slightly larger doll. Thanks for the inspiration!

    6. @JinCIncy - Love little Bree in her knitted wear!

@vermont chick - Yes try! I was only a scarf maker till recently...LOL

Oh I I should amend my post to say the last page had the cute KIDs...I didn't realize a new page would state with my last post. LOL:doh

    7. :sumomo:Can hardly believe it, but my Paige is already on her way! Only ordered her a month ago. :sumomo:

    8. Oh that is awesome! I have put a Paige on Layaway last month when I ordered my Mom one of the cats as Christmas present

    9. Congrats @Xanadu Dolls ! I still want a Paige, but I'm holding out until I see what Iple releases next in the FID line.

    10. @Roterwolkenvogel @vermont chick Thank you both, I think she will probably arrive Monday or Tuesday next week. The news really cheered me up and hopefully I will be well enough to photograph her when she arrives. :)

@vermont chick Are you looking for a companion for Lawrence?

    11. Well, seeing as I already have Miho at home, any FID I get will be a third wheel. I'm sort of regretting buying Miho in peach gold, so I wouldn't mind a girl in normal skin. And let's face it, I'm still hoping for a Leonard. Once I satisfy those wants, Paige is right up there on my list.:)

    12. Phew!

I just finished reading through all the KID discussion threads. It has been such a learning experience! I loved seeing everyone's photos and reading their thoughts and opinions about the various sculpts and releases. I have a Lisa on layaway; she'll be on her way to being rehomed to my place some time next week. I am very excited to put it mildly! :dance

I've been working on an outfit for her using the t-shirt pattern from Antique Lilac, but I have a question/request. I need the measurement from the waist to the top of the knee. I've looked everywhere online and on this forum, but I can't find that length measurement (they seem to all be circumference measurements of thighs, pelvis, etc.). I want to make her a simple skirt that brushes the top of her knee.

Can anyone please do me a small favor: whip out a ruler and measure your KID? I'd really love to have an outfit ready for her when she arrives, and I would be so grateful.

Here's the measurement I need (the green vertical line):

Thank you so much whoever can help!

    13. Gal8028, it is about 4-1/2" or 11.5cm. I just used that same pattern to make a little dress, and it worked out well. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

    14. Thank you so much!

I actually "hacked" the Antique Lilac t-shirt pattern to be a cardigan modeled after the green cardigan in the Iplehouse Green Flower Set. It's so cute--I just have final touches to put on it tomorrow and it's ready. I got a bag of quilter's scraps at a flea market a while back and what's left aren't big enough for anything hardly--except BJD doll clothes! The skirt is going to have a really simple design--a navy waistband and a floral print with yellow and navy flowers on a darker red background. The green cardigan (made from ponte knit scraps) matches the green in the flower leaves. I also have some red and gold beads to sew on around the hem (never beaded before! Little scared but wanting the challenge). I'm thinking of doing just a plain white cotton shell for under the cardigan so as not to distract from the skirt. Maybe a Peter Pan collar; my KID character is between 4-5 years old and Peter Pan collars are so classic on kid clothes.

I'm so excited to work on the skirt--I will definitely post pictures and unveil her when she arrives!

    15. She's here!

My KID Lisa, Whisper, has arrived, and I finished sewing her outfit just in the nick of time. Here's a photo of her sitting pretty on a lovely fall afternoon with her current favorite doll:

The beading I put on the hemline looks wobbly and crooked in the photo, but it's just how the skirt is laying. My only regret is that I made the waistband to the measurements on the website, and it does not fit her waist! Way too small. I need to rip out everything in the waist and redo it, but as it is my first-ever skirt in this scale, I'm willing to let it go and chalk it up to a beginner's mistake. (Plus the cardigan I made covers it completely so it's only truly known to be too small to me.)

What are everyone's Kids doing this weekend? Happy Halloween! I think I'm going to try to whip up something quick for Whisper to have a costume. :)

    17. I still haven't managed to properly clothe my Irene... I feel bad she has nothing nice to wear! They are harder to fit than I thought...

    18. ALL iple's are a pain in the rear to dress if you don't sew... that being said do you have a particular style/look in mind... Etsy is pretty good for regular type stuff. Just make sure the seller either says something is made for an Iple doll or at least knows about their unusual size.

    19. I sew a little, but my patterns are for YoSD size so I don't think it'll help. I found one KID designer on Etsy but can't afford clothes right now...

    20. @Chehime I put a dress I'd sewn for my LTF from this free pattern (LTFBodicePattern) on my KID girl and it fit fine, other than being short. With a longer skirt it would be perfect!

      • x 1
    21. Thanks! I might give some of my Yo patterns a try.

    22. I have some free patterns for KIDs on my website - Tutorials

There's a low waist dress, a T-shirt, and a Fairy outfit specifically for a KID. You may not be into 'fairies', but the bodice pattern alone can be very useful in designing your own dress or top.

Also, since KIDs have the same upper torso size as BIDs, you can make the BID sundress fit a KID by just adding 1/2" to the bottom of the bodice pattern and lengthening the skirt a little. Same with BID leggings. Just add a bit of width at the hip and lengthen the legs a little.

    23. Calphedoll: I love your Anne of Green Gables! :)

Is anyone tempted with the new Lena? How long is wait time these days?
It has been awhile since I have ordered from them.

    24. I might be tempted but I can't afford it at the moment. Besides I want a Milly first and I love Lisa, Ah-ra and Paige so God only knows when I might get a Lena.

I ought to get one I guess since she almost have my name. (Lene - pronounced almost the same way) LOL

      Dustbunnie

    25. Wait times seem longer than usual. My last doll was ordered on August 2, and arrived on September 26, so that's two months. That's the longest it's ever taken for me, and the doll was even blank. The past few years, my blank dolls tended to ship after just 2 or 3 weeks.

    26. Dustbunnie: I think you need Lena. :)

Thank you MB Lilac. My guess it will be long because of the event. They will be getting a lot of orders.
      Milo is handsome!

    27. Thanks! I suspect there will be a LOT of orders during their Event, and the rumour is that in December they will open Doll Choice at Basic prices the entire month. That's what I'm waiting (and hoping) for. I want to get a KID Angela in light brown as a big sister for my two light brown BIDs. Maybe even a light brown Benny as their single Mom. So a sale like that, plus free shipping would be fantastic.

    28. You and me both :...(

I'd get every doll on my list (and then some :wiggle) and feel no guilt lol

*sigh* and yes pay of the usual bills ;)

    29. Oops! I accedently ordered a Lena that I almost can't afford. :doh

It's not my fault. It's because I suffer from TOF. (Twitchy Order Finger) :abambi:

    30. I know that condition well :whee:

And congrats, Lena is adorable :)

    31. Hi, I´m new in this size KID and your pics are beautiful! I thinking in order a boy, maybe Lonnie, so can you help me with pics of this boy please? thanks in advance

    32. No boy Lonnie, here - how about a Peach boy instead?

    33. Ohhh!!! he's so handsome!!! thanks for the pic!!

    36. Thanks!! wow he is gorgeous!! love him!! congrats fof your boy!

    37. Ohhh I didn't see Milly as a boy!! he's fantastic!! What a difficult decision!!

    38. I have a Peach girl but the boy IH version is adorable too

    39. No problem at all!
And I thank you for your kind words regarding him :-)

Looks like the decision won't be easy, huh? Both Peach and Milly make great boys too! And not to mention Iple's recent KID Paige, who sadly only has girl styling on Iple pages, but would make terrific boy, I think ;-)

    40. Speaking of Paige, I paid my girl of yesterday and Iple said she will ship tomorrow, omg :D

    41. Jill in WV, Airike and MB Lilac you have some very cute boys there. <3

Lady Tiku your Peach is adorable. Now don't make me want a Peach too. I do NOT need any more dolls on my wishlist!

Roterwolkenvogel That sounds wonderful. Post pictures ASAP as I want to see.

I'm a bit worried about my Lena order. I ordered her completely forgetting that I had to cancel my credit card last Wedensday because I lost it. I can't pay the first instalment until I get the new one on Wedensday or Thursday. :doh

      Dustbunnie

    42. Don't worry, just leave them a message in Q&A and explain that there may be an issue with the payment and ask them not to cancel the order while it's sorted. They'll be happy to wait as long as you keep them informed. They were really nice when I had issues with PayPal not sending them payments. Just be clear and it'll be ok :)

    43. Iple is truly amazing when you communicate with them! They even allowed me to skip a layaway payment and just pay her off at the end of November (that I was able to do sooner now but hey, was nice of them!)

    44. Thanks guys. :) I just left them a message.

Now I have a question about clothes. Does KIDs fit Narsha clothes? The measurements seem to be very simmilar.

      Dustbunnie

    45. I've been waiting for a new KID to see if it could be the other boy I need (Pasha's friend). I was thinking of Paige because he looks so sweet and he needs to be the opposite of Pasha.

I just saw Lena and I think I'm in love! the sculpt is exactly what I was looking for! it looks awesome as a girl but I can't wait to transform it into a boy =D

Pasha boy you will not be alone anymore (he's been hanging out with my tinies and he has a girlfriend but you need your best friend sometimes!)

    46. Oh, I can definitely see Lena as a sweet boy. :) I love your Pasha. Very pretty hair-eye combo! I love his shoes, too!

    47. Thank you Bluepita! I placed my order today, I'm soooo excited!

    48. My Paige and Angela arrived today! Paige is Normal, and Angela is light brown. They still need face ups, but that could still be a while. Even so, I'm in love with Angela. She'll be the perfect older sister for my two light brown BIDs Efreet and Erzulie.

    49. Oh, thanks for posting! Paige has such personality, and Angela looks so sweet. I love the light brown resin. I thin lyour Angela might be the first I've seen. It makes such a difference seeing them in different colors of resin and blank.

    50. Oh! They are precious! :) And yes, I think that's the first Angela I've seen too! I've been wanting to see owner's photos of her....as I really like her...I can't wait till they both have their faceups. Congratulations!

    51. I don't recall ever seeing an Angela either. I always thought she had more 'ethnic' features, and would look good in the darker colours. Iplehouse really needs to show their sculpts in more than just Normal and Peach resins. Anyway, I had wanted her right when she came out, but with our dollar so low, I was waiting for the DC at Basics Christmas Event, and then they didn't have it last year. So I jumped on it this year.

I can't wait to see them both with face ups, but my face up artist just moved, and hasn't got her studio in shape with a place for spraying yet, and with the holidays upon us as well, it will probably still be a while. I'm really hoping by the end of January. But she already has two other dolls of mine as well.

I really like the light brown resin. I had been expecting something a lot darker, but it isn't much different than either of my older light brown dolls - from way before the formula change - although it is a touch 'pinker'.

    52. @MB Lilac - Yes, I've wanted to see an Angela in a darker resin too! She's adorable....I was thinking about getting her in RS someday...and I also love your Paige! She had such expression. I love mine...but wouldn't mind another in NS...

It's so hard to get a doll and then have to wait for a faceup...but that's the way sometimes. They will give you added joy when that day comes.

It's interesting about the LB...as I thought they went back to a slightly darker mix.

    53. Well, maybe my two older light brown dolls are from the days when the light brown was darker. They are both from the time that there was still French resin in the formula. IH said the LB had gotten lighter over time, and they were going back to the original darker tone.

Yes, I hate a long wait for a doll's face up. But I like a custom face up and matching body blush, so I have little choice. Although sometimes I am very tempted to get a doll with a factory face up - the few times I actually like the choices. But at my age time goes by so fast, that it seems like I blink and another week has gone by. So hopefully it won't take too long.

    54. Oh MBLilac, they are both such cuties <3

My Paige arrived a while back but atm her head is in limbo between Germany and Russia. Teaches me to get overly excited for another bearded dwarf lady and sending her out during Christmas Crazy OTL

    55. The light brown color looks almost red or is it my screen?

I ordered my Lena in that color but I'm not liking the red undertones :horror:

    56. Probably a combination of the lighting and your screen, because she really is a lovely colour.
