Iplehouse Kid K.I.D. 35cm discussion part 3

Jul 2, 2013

    1. Thank you so much, dear, for your lovely compliments! :blush Still, I think your styling skills (and photography) are better than mine ;-) When it comes to modern clothing, your little gang inspire me so much! :aheartbea

    2. Aww thank you very much, it has taken hours of internet searches  can be hard to find just regular clothes for dolls!

    3. she's cute and the T made me think.. 'oh going to see Hitchcock's "The Birds" ^^ (yes I'm odd lol)

    4. another suggestion that my girl wears is some of the short sleeved tops designed for minifees or other slim msd's as long as they don't have bust shaping - t-shirt styles work well.

    5. In addition to the one drop-waist dress pattern specifically for KIDs, all my BID patterns can be adjusted to fit a KID as well. Widthwise BIDs and KIDs are the same, but KIDs are a bit longer in the body. For example, this outfit Lonnie is wearing is made using the BID simple sundress, but with both the bodice and skirt lengthened. The T-shirt is made from the Long Sleeve T-shirt pattern, but with sleeves shortened, and main body a bit longer. Leggings are made using the tights pattern that comes with the KID dress tutorial, but with the foot part cut off.

    6. Sorry to 'double post' but it's been almost a week in between.....

My Peach enjoying the spring flowers....

    7. i don't think it counts as a double post if there is a day in between, this thread has just been kind of slow lately, and your pictures always brighten it up!

    8. That's what I thought too. Yes, it's been VERY slow here. Maybe everyone is out gardening, or younger members are too busy studying for final exams. We could use something new and exciting - like a new KID release. But I doubt we will have one anytime soon.

    9. Yes, this thread needs a boost. MB Lilac your photos are always so lovely who could ever object to them?:D

I was wondering how all you who have KIDs (or want a KID) are hoping Iplehouse does a KID Priate in the Carved Heratige Theme?

    10. I doubt there will be any KIDs, or even JIDs, in the CH series. If you go to the "Theme' section on their site, and click on Carved heritage, only three tabs pop up - for EID, SID, and YID. Personally, I'd like to see them do a a JID guy in the series, as he was the only one left out of the Addiction series.

If they did a KID, I suspect it might be a cabin boy along the lines of Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island. I don't see a young girl fitting into the theme. But who knows? Iplehouse has been known to cave to customer demands, and I think Lisa from the Addiction was quite popular.

    11. most of the kid sculpts can be either sex so if they did do a cabin boy it would be easy enough to make him a girl....

    12. Us two sat Comic Con. :) I ended up buying him a sweet hoodie too! (not pictured) I'll try to get a better picture of it later.

    13. Oh my, jacobean! He is the sweetest thing in the world in that cap! :D He is the best little boy ever! :aheartbea
Btw, can't wait to see his hoodie :wiggle

    14. So beautiful!!

Awwwww, he's so cute! I love your little man. Great jacket and hat.

    15. jacobean I really love your boy (and those doodles done about the situation you were in :XD:)

Can someone post Irene for me?

    16. awwww what beautiful pictures of your KIDs, thanks so much for sharing.
I love the pix with the Lisa twins, just gorgeous :aheartbea
I'm waiting for Lisa which a member on a french forum has sold to me! she's just soooooo beautiful ! I'm so happy to receive Lisa ! Can't wait.....
I'm new with BJD's, at the moment I have only Asa and Audrey and I'm waiting for Akando.

    17. Quick question... is there a "photo spam" thread for KID's??? I can't seem to find one (to add to the waiting room link list)

    18. the photo spam threads don't get used all that much in any case (at least none of the ones i'm subscribed) to and some of the corresponding "chat" threads move very quickly so i'm not sure they did what they were supposed to by whoever set them up. but the kid photo thread is one of the worst!

    19. Well, then maybe we should all get busy posting photos there....

    20. Well I just suscribed to the KID photo thread....so I'll do my part. :)

    21. i think what happens is the pictures all get posted here instead, along with the chat, which is fine by me - there hasn't been a whole lot to chat about lately if we don't post pictures!

    22. It probably also doesn't help that KIDs are one of their newest sizes, and there's really not that many sculpts available. I have three already, and there's only one other one I'd consider getting - Millie, as a boy.

My KIDs haven't been out for pictures for awhile, but hopefully I can change that soon. In the meantime, here's one from earlier this spring. I need to change them out of those Victorian outfits so they can have some summer fun!

    23. or just add a parasol? or maybe victorian bathing suits? the style suits your girls so perfectly!

    24. Such beautiful girls!! I'm still waiting for my Milly boy. Looks like it's still going to be awhile. I have one more payment to make.

I think the old fashioned bathing suits is an awesome idea! That would be so cute!

Here is my Lonnie/Olivia with my DIM Miso head on Lisa's borrowed KID body.

I hope once Iple gets caught up they can make some new KID sculpts or even better an in between JID and KID doll. Been wanting that for forever. Basically a not so curvy JID, which is what I was hoping for with the KIDs so I could put a JID head on the younger looking body, but we all know how that worked out.

    25. I found this old picture of Astrid and thought I'd share :)

    26. DancingBee - Where did you get the furniture or rather what is the furniture from, that you're using? Love the afghan too!

    27. Lonnie in flowers...

    28. Such a beautiful girl!

It's American Girl furniture that I bought used on ebay. :) ETA: Be careful about the prices on ebay. Sometimes they list the furniture for more that you can buy it new on the American Girl website......I knew that I wanted this bed, so I waited until I found one at a price I was willing to pay.

So pretty! Her wig is the perfect color for her.

    29. DancingBee , thank you! Yes, I think the wig's color is perfect :), the size looks a bit big.

    30. DancingBee, your girls are so sweet and nice! I just can't stop looking at them ^_^

    31. DancingBee - Thanks, you can't get AG stuff in Canada but I'm going to keep my eyes open.

    32. Actually, American Girl is now available at two Indigo locations in Canada - Yorkdale, Toronto, and in Vancouver. I don't know if they do mail order. I just checked, and AG is also available now at select in-store kiosks at Indigo and Chapters throughout the country - http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/ameri...erican-girl:american-girl-find-a-kiosk:banner

    33. I need to get out more! LOL Look at that, Moncton is on the list. Man do I ever need to start going out more. Thanks for letting me know, I would have continued to be oblivious.

    34. LOL I don't get out much either, but read about it in the paper, and how there were huge line-ups the first few days at the stores in Toronto & Vancouver. I don't know what they mean by 'kiosk', or if they'll even have furniture and accessories. But it's a beginning. I haven't been to our local Chapter's in ages, and they are on the list too.

I'm working on some summery outfits for my three girls, so hopefully they can start enjoying the nice weather soon, and I'll finally get some new photos.

    35. I tried a new look on Astrid, and I have to say that I really love her like this!

By the way, am I the only one hoping that Iplehouse will release a new KID soon? I would like to get Astrid a friend and though I like Lisa and Peach I'm hoping that there will be a new sculpt coming that will really pull my heartstrings(like Lonnie did).

    36. oh hell they have West Edmonton Mall on the list!... I need to phone and find out if they have stuff! O_O I don't have KID (yet) but am always looking ahead ;p

And a kiosk is nothing but a "stall".... when you don't have a full shop/store. Sale stall = Sale kiosk ^^ more or less. https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourcei...=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=what is a kiosk&safe=off
      I love Google lol.

I would love a new sculpt... My Loong Sould Tiger boy needs a playmate... the current selection is cute but I'd love to find something I could make into a cat girl of some kind. I'd love to find someone who could take the vamp teeth off the addiction dolls... the vamp ears would work both for Lisa or the BID's. (I have 2 KID outfits I plan to buy first ;p so a KID would do nice as a playmate too) But ya a new sculpt would be nice ^^

And Astrid is adorable!... I think it's that I like bangs ;p

    37. calgary has a couple of stores on the list and they aren't even that far away from where i live. i'll have to see if they'll be carrying the furniture when we get home from holidays. (right now i'm closer to moncton, but wouldn't have any room for something that big in my suitcase!)

    38. I used to work at Chapters, lol. My girl really needs more clothes. I'd really love for her to have a sundress and maybe a bathing suit though I have no idea if I'd have the chance to photograph her in it outside anywhere.

I definitely need to take some new pictures of her but I'd like her to have new clothes to wear. One of these days I'll actually try making some. Probably. :)

auntbear - Are you passing through Moncton?

    39. we may be driving through today, we aren't quite sure which route we are taking yet. we're in cape breton right now and heading towards niagra falls. we've been touring with some ot for this thread dolls who only brought summer clothes and are thinking their wool sweaters would have been more appropriate!

    40. auntbear - It's supposed to be hot today. 21*C right now. Though at this point you may be well beyond Moncton. :)

And to make this on topic, here's Faith!

    41. such a pretty girl! lonnie is still my favorite (i have 2 of them in different skin tones ;))

and unfortunately we missed the nice weather there, we are down in massechusets (sp?) now, on our way to niagra falls. its a whirlwind trip thus time!

    42. Omg! They look so cute together! I ordered Lonnie as my second Iplehouse but have yet to get her home. It's been just about 2 months now.

    43. I know my mom randomly got an American Girl catalogue sent to her a few months back that would ship to Canada, or might have been the Canadian version? So I know they probably do have a way for us to order. My mom gave the catalogue to me, but I'm not sure where it is now. If the kiosks aren't convenient, it might be another way to go?

    44. Loving all of your pics! I'm dying to get my Lonnie home! It's been just about 2 months since I ordered her but feels more like 2 years! :D

    45. That is one super fast cross-country trip you are on!!

Love your girl! Lonnie is such a cutie! She was my favourite KID until Lisa arrived. They are both my favourites now.

Here's a new photo of the two of them...

    46. Oh oh looks like the KIDs are calling out to me as well. Bad Jenny needs to stop and concentrate on one size or one family unit.

    47. But BIDs and KIDs go so well together!

    48. Oh I love the Lonnies! And I really want a Lisa someday too!

MBLilac you pose your dolls so well...each one looks like they are looking at what they are supposed to be looking. Make sense?

Mine got to be a 'Flower Girl' in a recent shoot. :)

    49. Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread. I don't have a KID yet, but I'm looking (constantly) at the site to determine who to get, what faceup and skin tone, etc. My head is spinning. I've narrowed it down to Irene with C on Real Skin or Lonnie with B on Peach Skin. Now, my next worry is how difficult is it to find clothing and shoes for this size doll? I haven't compared all the measurements yet, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried Tonner's 14" Betsy McCall clothing on the KIDs? While clothing can be made, I seem to always buy a doll who is difficult to find shoes for. I'd appreciate any feedback you can give before I make a purchase. Thanks.

Oh and the regular thigh vs the mobility thigh..... which is preferable?

    50. Some Betsy McCall 14" stuff works pretty well, actually. Here is my Lonnie wearing parts of a Tonner Betsy outfit I've had around for so long, I can't remember the name of it. Her jeans are Iplehouse...

I don't think it's terribly hard to find my girls clothing that fits them. You might consider Etsy, where some seamstresses sew specifically for the KIDs, or other dolls in the same general size range.

    51. Jill in WV, thanks for the information. I have a huge container of Betsy clothing and I'm hoping some of it will work on the new doll. I placed some other dolls up for sale tonight, so hoping to be able to place an order at Iplehouse soon.

Do you prefer the mobility thigh or the standard thigh in the dolls?

    52. I prefer the mobility joint, and order all my dolls with it now. It makes the legs much more poseable. I wish IH would put a mobility joint in their doll's upper arms as well.

    53. I definitely prefer the regular joint in my SIDs and EIDs, but I don't have an opinion for the smaller sizes, KIDs and BIDs, since I don't have any with the mobility joint in either of those two sizes. I can see where the mobility joint might help in posing, and someday I plan to try one for myself, but so far, have not.

    54. Thanks for the answers on my questions. I'll go with the mobility joints. MB Lilac, I'm assuming they make it easier for your dolls to kneel like in the party picture. Probably helps to sit better too?

I was up most of the night looking at the dolls on the Iplehouse site and the clothing, etc. Made a list that would cause my accountant to have a stroke! Have narrowed that down some, as they really only need a couple outfits to start out. I've narrowed the dolls to Lonnie (KID) and Bonnie (BID); both with B makeup in Peach skin. I think they'd make great sisters. Then I posted some other dolls up for sale to help afford these new girls. My livingroom looked like a dolly disaster area as I had them all out on the floor giving them a serious look as to who I could live w/o and who I couldn't. Crossing my fingers they'll sell quickly; but even if they don't, I'll be placing my order tomorrow night. I hate the waiting part......already looking forward to them arriving. :-)

    55. Those are good choices to start with. I say "to start with" as these dolls are super addictive., and once you have one, you usually end up with several more.

I find the mobility joint most useful so my dolls can turn their legs in or out in more natural poses. Like Jill, I wouldn't want the mobility joint in the really large dolls. I find them awkward enough to handle and pose - mostly because they are so heavy - so I wouldn't want them to be able to swivel while I was struggling with them. I do like it in JIDs and smaller dolls though.

    56. Oh! Oh! I have to share......last night (after midnight) I tought I'd take one last browse at the Marketplace on DOA and I found a KID Lonnie, B faceup, Peach skintone, with the mobility thigh! She's gorgeous, so I contacted the seller (in several time zones over) and prayed that she'd be online. Yes! By the time I went to bed at 1:30 am I was getting my Lonnie and I won't have to wait 2-3-4 months to get her! I'm so excited that she'll be here so much sooner and I'll have her in my hands. Now I'm digging through my bins of clothing and finding what I have that I might like her to wear. Of course, her sister, BID Bonnie will have to be ordered and waited on, but at least I will have one of them in my possession!

If a miracle doesn't happen tonight, I'll be placing my order for Bonnie either before I go to bed or when I get up tomorrow. It would be so nice to find a Bonnie for sale and just have to order the clothing, etc. from the factory. Anyway, Lonnie became my birthday present being that I bought her on my birthday. Happy! Happy! :dance

    57. congrats finding exactly what you were looking for and getting her so quickly will be very exciting!

    58. Congratulations! Nothing like finding the perfect doll on your birthday! Also nothing like 'immediate gratification'. Can't wait to see photos.
